In under half an hour Plastic Nee-San manages to build a whole cast of characters with excellent chemistry that will have you grinning from start to finish, if at all. Even when minor characters are introduced, their context is clear and they play off the main characters without ever dominating scenes. While some might say the show is just a series of physical gags, you'll likely grow to enjoy the unique personalities of all the characters to a degree that's surprising for a series this short in duration. Expect an above-average comedy along the lines of Nichijou, but with zero filler material and afocus on getting to the punchline. Every moment is golden and that's one of the things that makes Plastic Nee-San excellent.
Hey you! Yes, YOU !! Do you have a little 30 min. to spare ? Yes ? Nice. Do you want to laugh ? Yes ? Excellent ! I have exactly what you need : Plastic Nee-san ! I'm pretty sure you're thinking ''wtf is that??'' ... No ? Eh ... ok. Anyway, let's review this. I'm not gonna take too long for this one ! Story : 4 Story ? There's no story. The only thing you need to know is that our 3 main characters are members of a club about plastic models and ... stuff happens.Thats pretty much it ! Art : 7 Nothing outstanding. For a 2 min. / episodes serie i wasn't expecting much and it did the job really well ! I liked the plastic models on the girls head. c: Sound : 7 The seiyuus has done a really good job in Plastic Nee-san. The opening and ending are nice and the music used is good enough ! Character : 9 Hooo god. In 12 episodes of 2 minutes, pretty much everyone are special and memorable ! It goes to the ''Beautiful person'' to the guy who enjoy to wear women's underwear. Of course, our main characters are also really special. Nee-san is vulgar and don't give a f-, Okappa is violent and Makimaki is pretty much that girl who has to endure these two girls. Enjoyment : 9 It's a damn shame it's only for a total of 30 minutes. I would easily take a entire season of this, i really liked it ! Of course, it's a comedy so that type of comedy isn't for everyone but even so ... try it. The worst that could happen is that you wasted 30 minutes of your life. Overall : 8 If i had to take the story for the final note it would have been a 7 but for this kind of show, let's just forget about the story, ok ? Thanks for reading, and see you next time ... if i decide to review something else one day.
An elastic schizoid explosion of fun and rapid-fire humor, Plastic Nee-san is a comedic short that delivers on its promise of quick laughs and even quicker punchlines. Any given episode consists of a trio of misfits who find themselves colliding headfirst with those around them, their eccentric personalities guaranteeing comedic mishaps. These cute little girls are the embodiment of pure adrenaline and sucking down one too many sugar packets. Due to the 2-minute runtime, Plastic Nee-san does not have time to waste on padding or slowly setting the stage. Usually, this would work against a title's favor, but for this comedic short, where the intentwas simply to get the audience to laugh, Plastic Nee-san turned this into an opportunity to strike without hesitation. This creates high-octane sight gags, slapstick moments as nutty as anything offered up by 20-minute showings, and the kind of obtuse humor that's only possible thanks to Japan's obsession with always pushing the "weird" factor to unforeseen levels. Enjoyment: 8.5/10 I couldn't stop laughing, which should be the goal of any comedy. And in that regard, Plastic Nee-san was a success! Overall: 7.5/10 Plastic Nee-san is an anime that's fully aware of what it wants to do. A comedy that delivers humorous situations with laser-focused accuracy. Cute, to the point, and leaves you with a smile, and with a short time-window that wouldn't impede on anyone curious enough to check it out, it's an easy one to recommend as well.
"Negative thinking will get your ass kicked!" If you're looking for funny gag anime to watch, weird humor, with some ecchiness and the one that doesn't require thinking, go watch this. Story - 6 There's really no story at all. It just delivers you a funny conversations and some of the ecchi parts. Well i warn you, there's pantyshot here and there, half-naked characters with their actions. Weird fetishes. Just.. what a hilarious events. Art - 7 Being comedy anime, the art is quite fitting, it's not that a serious type but it's not too flashy too. Sound - 8 Sound's ok, the seiyuus did their job nicely done. If you're noteasily get annoyed by chibi loli nee-san voice, then it's an ok, just continue watch it. At least I found myself laughing when the guy characters appeared and made the show. Character - 7 I found the characters quite funny and memorable, nee-san and her nakamas have that kind of expression as their trademark.. Nee-san with her craziness, Okappa with her scary-looking-face, and MakiMaki with the troubled looking face. Oh yeah, the character is not all girls, it has some guys characters too with the weirdness included. Enjoyment - 8 +tic Nee-san is likely great anime for comedy seekers. Especially for those who welcomed a weird humor. Overall - 8 I enjoy watching a short anime with funny gags, it doesn't require to think with your brain, but it's indeed make you laugh if you're ok with it, it even lower your cortisol (stress hormone) if you managed to laugh and liking it.. haha :P (for me anime is for entertaining purpose anyway) Hardly to find stupidities too, i just get surprised many times. Well, just sit and enjoy the show.
I am guessing by now that everybody has seen the length, and nobody needs any introduction to the simple fact that this Anime is short. In fact, it is so short to the point where the whole Anime would equal an episode of a normal Anime TV series. The short length isn't a problem though, as it doesn't really take away from it's hysterical slapstick comedy at times, because in just twenty slim minutes it manages to extract laughs out of the viewer unlike most comedy Anime series out there, even when some episodes may seem a bit too outlandish and trite. The thing aboutthis series which separates it from the others within the same category, is that it is fun and does not take itself seriously. It doesn't try to force it's slapstick comedy down the viewer's throat, and it has fun with it's surroundings, which is exactly what most of these Anime should be striving to achieve. Even with just twenty short minutes to work with, it manages to make the audience joyful with laughter for most of it's run. The characters are not the best, they may even seem one dimensional to some viewers, placed in to only perform a one trick pony, but the show should be excused for that. This is mainly due to the fact that the show is too short for it to be bothered to add in development, and the time is too short for such a thing to happen. Even then, nobody should expect that this Anime was really striving for the best character development out there. This Anime perhaps needed it's characters to be as mindbogglingly nuts as possible, since the hysterically insane demeanor needed to be there in order for the over the top slapstick to work and hit home. This Anime is short, but in just twenty minutes, it managed to achieve what most Anime series would dream of achieving even after twenty seasons, and that is to get a laugh out of the viewer.
The attempted humour is very played out and the show really doesn't have anything else going for it. There's no story as a result of the show's length. The sound is very basic. The characters are bland. Gave it a 5 rather than a 4 because I at least broke a smile once. If you're looking to find something funny, give this a pass. It may only be 20 minutes long but it's still not worth your time.
Story: 6/10 This anime literally has no plot. Which, of course, I was already aware of going into it. But I mean, seriously, NOTHING happens. In addition, it's not really funny. Unless you're either super tired or drunk, don' expect to crack a laugh watching this. The only reason I'm giving it a 6 as opposed to a lower score is because of the unconventionality of it and the different situations that give this series originality. It was an originality that could have been utilized. But in general, unless your super into straight up sex jokes, this series is probably not worth your time, despite it'sshortness. Art: 7/10 The art is pretty good. In some parts, I would even consider it great, although not very stylistically original. And yet in other parts, probably for comedic purposes (which, in my opinion, failed) the art is sloppy, lazy, and ugly. Sound: 10/10 The sound effects and soundtrack were absolutely spot on. Pretty cliche, but that was obviously intentionally as this is a parody. Character: 5/10 There was NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or even character explainations at ALL. Which is okay, sometimes. But when you literally "cut and paste" characters, so to speak, it's not okay to just throw a plastic figurine on their head and say, hey look, I have a unique personality. No. No, you don't. Enjoyment: 3/10 Like I said, the plot was weak and the humor was dry. Halfway through, watching this turned more into a chore than into something enjoyable. Overall: 4/10 Would not watch again.
I found this anime to be incredibly hilarious. The characters and the quick storylines of each episode are fast-paced and very entertaining. The episodes themselves are very short, a total of around 20 minutes would be enough to finish the entire series. Overall, it's one of the funniest anime I've seen.
Plastic nee-san is the most enjoyment you can get out of 25 minutes. Plastic nee-san is divided into 12, around 2 minute episodes, that approximately together last 25 minutes. They don't make a story together, each episode is a different situation. What they offer is pure comedy with very realistic punch-lines and over the top scenarios that can happen only in anime. Anime can be used for pure entertainment, for intellectual satisfaction, and some compelling stories. Plastic nee-san doesn't fail one bit as for entertainment as it was not trying to be anything else. It is about 3 female best friends, that are so close toeach other, that insulting, and being rude for a second to anyone of them, is actually quite normal for them. Because of it, and how relaxed the characters are to each other, their chemistry is flawless. You can easily connect it to some of your best friends where you push the jokes over the top, where insulting each other only brings fun... Talking about random stuff, and having fun with it. Additionally, there are a few side characters that add up. They have really unique personalities (good, bad or plain hilarious). With them, they fill up some episodes with a little bit different humor. They don't overuse any jokes, so every scene will be refreshing and funny. Since the characters are really fun, and can connect to real life, together with anime limits of graphical images that go beyond real world, it can show you humor never seen before. When I mention those images, I'm referring to, first of all, the facial expressions that are unique to anime. That, of course, you can't replicate to filmed series. Or the movements that's possible to do in anime; like speed faster than light, or different body language unique to anime. That was animated and drawn pretty well, and that also increases the humor even more in Plastic nee-san. Those 2 elements together make a perfect comedy strictly unique to plastic nee-san, which makes this one of the best comedies ever. Further more, it is armed with a fitting soundtrack that goes on with the show pretty well. I rarely feel sad, but when I do, I just go watch some Plastic nee-san. After a few minutes I'm as good as new. Because the interactions are so natural, and humor is really good, I would suggest this to anyone, even to those who never watched Anime before.
Well, I found this anime really funny, The comedy and ecchiness are just perfect, even though there is one or two episodes that are not funny at all, anyway, the other ones are really enjoyable. Story: 7 There isnt a story at all, there are just various funny and short gags. Art: 9 The whole art is really well designed.Sound: 7 There were just few and good songs in the anime but they were enough for cover nicely the anime. Character: 8 I liked many of them, especially Genma. Enjoyment: 8 If you want to spend 20 minutes laughing at weird gags, this anime is perfect for you. Overall: 8 The anime is really too short, I'm sure it could be much better if only was longer.
I enjoyed watching Plastic Nee-san because it is a very funny anime with unique jokes and wise puns. I started to like this anime even more when I saw that it had minor shoujo-ai subtext. Unfortunately (for me and other shoujo-ai/yuri fans), it lasts only for the first 4 episodes... Plastic Nee-san had one of my favourite main cast in anime ever! Nee-san is hilariously stupid and energetic (reminds me of Excel), plus she is a cute and bossy loli. Also, I just love the sound of her real name - Iroe Genma, which I think is very original. Nevertheless, my favourite characters in thisanime are Maki-Maki and Okappa. Maki-Maki is just beautiful and cute, but the best part is that she is voiced by Marina Inoue the goddess! I liked Okappa because she is both beautiful and funny, mainly because of her dark Yangire side. The character design and colors are great. The graphics are tolerable, but I have to say that they make the characters look too unrealistic, even for anime standards. The only think that disappointed me a little in Plastic Nee-san is the storyline. The events in each episode are a bit too silly, short and pointless, but their purpose is to make you laugh, not think... I wish the stories were more crazy, like in FLCL.
Plastic Nee-san. One of the anime that made me constantly go, What the fuck? every time I watched an episode. The series is very short and it did do a few things very good. But I'll get to those later. The bad. As always I will get on with the bad first then move onto the good. there was a lack of a story, but i won't fault it too much as it is an episodic anime that relies on humor to get views and the soundtrack was kind of, well to but it bluntly, uninspired and unoriginal, and not that watching the anime would takea long time so that I could see if there was other tracks on the soundtrack, but I can only find the opening theme, which is decent at best. The animation in the series also feels like it's meant to be more of a showcase of what the animators can do rather than actually just wanting to adapt the series. The good. I was complaining that the art was all over the place earlier but it did look nice, the animation was always very fluid and it I always found something nice to look at when i was watch the anime. The voice acting was also top notch, and it felt like the voice actors were always giving it their all in the studio it's a very thing to hear, Elfen Lied could learn something from this. And then you get onto the character development. The writing staff took a look at the series and devoted most of the half hour this series runs for to 3 of the characters. Makina, Hazuki, and Iroe. They play off each other amazingly well and you can definitely tell which character fits with which name by the end of the half hour. And most of the humor is just them playing off each other and getting into these ridiculous situations, with the exception of one famous scene, if you've seen it you know which scene I'm talking about. Final Verdict: The anime was funny but it was too short. It lacked any progressive story that other episodic anime, such as Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star had. But It's only a half hour and it'll definitely give you a few laughs along the way. 6.75/10
Story: No real story, but that's alright because it's a very good comedy. I'm talking hilarious! You will laugh nonstop for 30 minutes if you find the "What is going on!?" kind of humor funny. Art: Fairly good animation along with basic but sufficient backgrounds for our characters to interact with. Also, paired with excellent animation, we have some great proportions used for comedy, as well as enjoyable and hilarious expressions throughout the entire run time. It was, however, disappointing that this anime, filled with such an incredible wealth of comedy, succumbed to what most anime end up suffering, which is exploiting the female body. Sound: Excellent VA work thatmade things even funnier than they needed to be. The range in which our cast has to work with is excellent, and listening to characters jump left and right with such hilarity was amazing and a ton of fun. The soundtrack was hoaky and neat. It made me think of relaxing, yet upbeat lounge music you would hear in a hotel. That, or music you would hear in the background of a Spongebob episode. Character: Hilarious but not compelling. That's to be expected, since this is most definitely a comedy, but it was a ton of fun to watch the cast regardless of their singular dimension. Besides, they were funny. Extremely funny. They each had their quirks and never broke out of them. It was great. Enjoyment: Hilarious. I laughed a lot more than I expected. Definitely a recommendation for those who enjoy strange and stupid humor. Give it a go. ((If you liked this review, check out my other reviews by going to my profile and clicking the 'reviews' tab. "What the hell am I lookin' at?" -Rick Moranis That's probably the best way I can describe this series of shorts. The run time is less than a half hour, but it has many laughs. There isn't really anything spectacular about it, art and music are okay at best, but just the cooky nature of each character we're introduced to is something to marvel at. The stories are pretty nonsensical and bizarre, but it's all in the name of some good, dirty-minded, humor. I wish more shows would take the approach of just saying, "Screw it!" and just having some fun. But, I think it's theshow's brevity that makes it good. If this went a full season of 30 minute episodes, it would probably get annoying. If you have 28 minutes to spare, give this charming title a watch. It will make you laugh at least once. 7/10. Check it out. Cheers!
I see this show getting 9s and 8s by most reviewers. This is absolutely amazing considering it consists of 12, 2 minute or so episodes. But i think that is one of the things that makes it so good. STORY POSITIVES A very short story that you can watch in just 30 minutes. Being that short, lets it stay interesting for its entire duration. STORY NEGATIVES The show is mostly just episodic. Therefore, there really isn't much of a story.ART POSITIVES The art is absolutely great! So many different faces are used to convey the feelings of the characters. Each one of them looks great in its own way. The animation is also great and doesn't look lasily done as i have seen in some animes. The art style is just unique and great all around. ART NEGATIVES Nothing really. SOUND POSITIVES I enjoyed the theme songs and the sound effects were on point. SOUND NEGATIVES The background music was very forgettable. CHARACTER POSITIVES All of the character's personalities compliment each other well, creating very funny scenes. It is very hard to describe each ones personality because nobody falls exactly into a specific troph. CHARACTER NEGATIVES . . . . . .I've sat for 15 minutes trying to think of character flaws but i can't. ENJOYMENT POSITIVES I greatly enjoyed this anime. Just like Nichijou, it was funny, great looking, and very unique. ENJOYMENT NEGATIVES I would put "There should be more" here but actually, i think that this show was the perfect length for what it was. Even if i do want to see more. OVERALL I am very glad i watched this. I was originally concerned it was going to be a waste of time to watch but i am very happy that i was wrong. I loved the characters and the art style. It is a great way to spend about 28 minutes. I recommend this if you are looking for a good laugh and/or you enjoy Nichijou. Just don't expect much of a story. If you like this review, check out some of my others! Tell me what you think! ^_^
This is one of those animes that anyone, anime watcher or average joe can just load up on Youtube, and have a hell of a time watching. Look this is not a perfectly crafted anime, and it does not have to be, hell the anime itself does not take it seriously. Think of Plastic Neesan as the Saturday Night Live of the anime world, full of funny as hell clips (humping guy OMG), and random ass moments. The other thing this anime has going for itself is the art and characters. The art is insanely beautiful in HD, and the characters seem almost life likein their quirky interactions with each other. So in conclusion if you want some quick anime humor watch this insanely short, and funny anime.
Ahh plastic nee-san if i could sum up this anime into one word it would be "YAHOO!"....okay review over, but seriously unless your sense of humor is dry as sand, dont expect to finish this short 2 min per episode (12 episodes in total) anime without laughing at least once, now while the anime is on the short side giving you a deep engaging story is not what this anime is meant for ( sorry to the people who expected that ) but instead this anime is more of something to watch to sorta pass the time weather alone or with friends to get a good laugh,it doesthis job perfectly by executing the perfect scenes and animations at the perfect times, that will undoubtedly result in you bursting out with laughter, and it even has some fan-service along the way so its a great little anime to watch if your coming back home from a crappy day,and really i don't think theres any way i can fully describe this anime in words,i really recommend you just go out and watch it for yourself, and you'll understand all by then, but remember....."Negative thinking is not allowed, and negative thinking will get your ass kicked". Story - What story its just there to be enjoyable and funny Art/Animation - I'd personally pay any amount to meet the people who animated/drew this anime Sound - The Op and Ed fit the anime in general perfectly. Overall Enjoyment - OVER 9000 !!! Re-watch Value - Every-time i hear the word yahoo, see a tennis ball, hear or see anything that has to do with plastic,or see a beauty add. Side-note - This review is entirely my opinion, like wise your entitled to yours as well,so feel free to tell me if and why or why not you agree or disagree with my review i wont get offended. - v5
It has been a long time since i really laugh like shit after watch " daily life of high school boys " Although this has only 2 min per episode but overall they add up to almost 1 episode of normal anime . But the enjoyment you get is speechless ...... Simply thinking about this anime will make you mad XD This is really high recomanded
The biggest laughs I remember having was watching Gintama and Nichijou. They are the kind of comedy that is straightforward and easily amusing, so it might not be the cup of tea for someone seeking a more "highbrow" kind of comedy. They are hyperbolic and very loud, as in they practically shout at the audience "Look at me! I'm doing something stupid and ridiculous!" I remember comparisons linking surprise with our laughter, and that's probably the best analogy for these kinds of comedy - it surprises you into laughter. And it works for me, too effectively, in fact, that I'm literally addicted to it. Myviewing of Plastic Nee-san is the result of feeding that addiction. Lasting two minutes per episode (making it altogether a 24 minutes series), Plastic Nee-san features the familiar slice-of-life plot of cute girls passing their time doing pointless and often ridiculous things, sometimes resulting in extreme hilarity. The comedy can be vulgar, inappropriate and often exaggerated. Because of the continuous escalation from one two minute skit to the next, that continuous build-up of comedy at the beginning builds an expectation of things becoming even more funnier in the next episode. Unfortunately, after the first few episodes, the momentum gradually died down when the weaker episodes arrive (like Beauty-tic), leaving me yearning for that return to over-the-top ridiculousness that got me laughing so hard in the first place. Thankfully, things do pick up again in one of the last episodes with Resolution-tic - and boy, does it pick up alright. Amidst the craziness that is these girls' everyday lives, you'll come to meet some interesting side characters too. There's "Beautiful Person", a vain girl who's convinced she's prettier than the main characters (she's not). Kuniki is the highlight of "Resolution-tic" and is seemingly your typical masculine shounen hero at first glance. Finally, there's also Uno & Sada, a pair of cute twins who seemed like perfectly innocent freshmen. As per usual with comedies like this, appearance always deceives. Of course, the main stars are our comedy trio, the idiot (Iroe the blond), the violent girl (Hazuki the brunette), and the only sane woman (Makina the redhead). Probably the most impressive feat the show has pulled is that in the span of 24 minutes, you'll come to learn the personality of these characters - and that's more than I can say for many anime. If you enjoy humor that makes you go "WTF did I just watch?!" as you burst out laughing, and if you have 26 minutes to spare (including the OP and the ED), then definitely check this one out as I guarantee you won't regret the experience. It's only a shame that it's so short, as I wouldn't mind seeing a full-length series like Nichijou.
