Years ago, Lilith Kishimoto was orphaned when angry villagers murdered her parents. Now a strong-willed teenager, Lilith has inherited the mysterious Great Sword Calbrinus as well as a mission—to conceive a child with the heir to the Romuald lineage so that one day the Strigoi, Romanian vampires, can rise again. However, the man she must copulate with is Shinta Mizumura, an ordinary Japanese high school student completely unaware of the legacy he carries. While Shinta struggles with his feelings, Lilith strives to accomplish her goal by any means necessary. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

"This cursed fate of mine, is a stigma that can't be erased." At first, I wasn't 100% sure keen on whether to check out this short OVA or not. After all, it is tagged ecchi on MAL and based off a manga. Of course, OVA adapted from manga can sometimes be a flop and goes straight to hell. Some examples (whether you agree or not) includes Hiyoki, Honey x Honey, and Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu. These popular manga that have the potential of becoming a hit series instead became disappointing OVAs that were not appealing. But is this the case for Holy Knight? Hmm, let's putout our heads together and find out. Holy Knight is a short OVA series consisting of only 2 episodes. Yes, with less than an hour of animation footage, don't expect a strong storyline. Given the fact that Maya Miyazaki is the story writer and artist of the series, you can expect some ecchi, romance, and drama. If you can't take any of these, then STOP. This short OVA will probably be a waste of time for you. As for a typical vampire style series, Holy Knight depicts some religious themes such as the cross that the main heroine Lilith (or perhaps anti-hero) wears. In the opening scene, we see a dark background of her childhood and what she's been through. It is dark, it is dramatic, and it sets forth that eerie atmosphere in which viewers may or may not find appealing. We also learn that she is the sole survivor of her clan later on and that the ritual is a proof of Lilith's embodiment. Then of course, there is the protagonist, the lucky or maybe not so lucky Shinta Mizumura. He is the son of the head-priest of a certain shrine in Kyushu where he is attending classes at Saint Ritsumei Academy with his childhood friend. It all seems normal until that is Lilith enters the picture. From there, the lust and jealousy begin and all sorts of strange phenomenon happens. He later learns about the truth of his legacy and the cursed of, a stigma that cannot be erased. As for the story, it is quite short. I mean, there's only 2 episodes and like I said before, less than an hour of animation footage. Luckily though, the animation is performed well as with most recent series although not extravagant or too artistic. Yet, it does bring out the eerie atmosphere and gothic style. There are also comedic scenes that depicts some of the lighter mood of the story mixed in with some romantic art. The music and sound of this OVA is quite interesting. The OP song Maaya Uchida performs bears the same name as this OVA but more importantly depicts the lyrics of the story. "This cursed fate of mine, is a stigma that can't be erased" is heard near the end of the song because it is a curse that both protagonists must endure, a curse passed down throughout generations. Also noticeable, is the ED song of the series "Nobodyknows" by 16th Labo. To be honest, it is epic. I actually listened to it several times and is quite catchy. Overall, my enjoyment of the series is just so-so. With only 2 episodes based off a manga, it's quite rushed. Not only that but the ending is a bit ambiguous. It is understandable that an OVA is not supposed to cover the entire story but it just seems to not to fit together overall. But yet, there is some holy hope in this series. The art, music, and characters style are appealing and those comedic scenes does occasionally spawn a few laughter. And of course being tagged as an "ecchi" series, expect fan service. Ultimately though, this OVA has potential. But this time around, it just seems so-so. Maybe someday, fate will be tied together again and this OVA will become an official series we can all hope and enjoy.
The story is fairly short, only OVA of 2 episodes so it won't be a long review. I prefer writing shorter reviews anyway, since I hate reading 13 pages long essays of some conceited person hairsplitting every single unimportant point. I came across the anime like any other person does, that is, on teh inturwebs. I was disappointed it was only an OVA of 2 episodes, not a real deal. A good intro setting the mood and catching attention of viewer and what I always like seeing, a hint of forbidden romance, which especially makes it intriguing. The story doesn't end but the makers haven't produced more episodes. Unfortunately, that's about it (without spoilers). If you like romance, definitely recommended. It has some ecchi, but nothing preposterous. They really ought to make a 12 episode long anime. It has good potential in my opinion.
"Haste makes waste," "Ether you do it right or don't do it at all." That's the kind of philosopy that well deserves this 2 ep OVA. IMAO, this OVA has a good plot and has a potential to be a good 12 episode anime, alas co'z it is just limited only to 2, the author has obviously made a lot of corner cutting, then again the story still deseves a "Good" 7. The art.........hummm, I'll give it an "Outstanding" 10, since I like the way the illustrator did with the characters, and the fanservice that goes with it. Sound: Poor 3. No comment. Character: Decent 4. That's becausethere isn't much about to know the charcters that well, in fact deatils about them are sooooo limited that there are more questions than answers as to what they truly are. However the roles that Kisimoto and Shita played is enough to be appreciated. Enjoyment and Overall: Dreadful 2. Ok, so becuase of all that cutting corners and making such a hasty OVA, this thing should have not been thought about if it is gonna be limited to 2 episode, the story maybe good the relationship between Litih and Shita did make a good climax, but the author simply ditch everything and focus more on the fanservice and went stright to the climax of the 2 lovers leaving a lousy exit for the antagonists. Since this OVA has a manga, it is better to just stick with the manga then bother with this dreaded thing.
I decided to give this series a shot because a few voice actors whose work I enjoy were involved. For the record; I haven't read the manga, or seen the original sub, nor am I a fan of ecchi. That said, I couldn't imagine recommending this series to anyone who is. The story of Holy Knight is standard fare. An emotionally distant and duty-driven girl is compelled to sleep with an awkward, nervous boy, himself given a task he's not yet aware of. Said boy is best friends with a jealous, possessive girl, who is overflowing with one-sided affection for the boy. All of the (ofage) girls have massive tits. If you're expecting any twists, you might find one, but it's revealed so late in the game that it can only be hinted at. The whole OVA is about as eventful as a standard series pilot. The writing – especially in the first episode – is riddled with poorly woven expository dialogue and lines that are just plain bad. "Oh not again, I can't believe my alarm didn't go off again!", followed by "geez Shin, you're late again!" "If you keep ignoring me - I mean, your studies, then one day I'll become a famous novelist and forget all about you, Shin, so there!" "You are one of the best students in my ancient folklore class, Chizuru." One character's incessant usage of acronyms is one of the most annoying habits I've seen dealt to an anime character, as a matter of fact it might top the list. At every moment, you are aware that these are characters, and that you are watching a show. The writers have seen to this. Whenever I hear a diehard anime purist decry dubs as universally insulting to the hearing, I tune them out. I can't recall hearing a Funimation or Viz dub that wasn't at least solid, if not stellar. I hadn't heard a dub that seemed to justify such vitriol in my life, until I watched Holy Knight. Collins' performance as Lilith is the sole professional-quality lead work on display. Anthony Sardinha, Corinne Sudberg, and to a lesser extent, Michele Knotz, do well in the bit roles they're given, but their contributions are minimal. Talbott, Zekas, Pollack, and Nugent are especially inept. The ratio of wildly forced, un-inspired utterances to believably delivered lines is probably in the ballpark of 8:1, if I'm being generous. I was cringing for about an hour straight. I legitimately can't remember a dub that was this consistently horrid. The score of Holy Knight does it's job in much the same manner as the art. It never felt the least bit out of place, but just minutes after finishing the series I couldn't remember a single note. Honestly, that's fine with me, but if you appreciate epic scores you won't find one here. The sound design is spotty, sometimes satisfactory, sometimes distractingly bad. At one point a burning torch is dropped, producing a sound like that of a tin can being dropped on a tile floor. It's a flaw, but in the grand scheme of things, it's far from the most glaring. I went into this series without expectations, honestly hoping for the best. Needless to say, that's not what I found. Holy Knight is a kind of bad I'm not used to. It's an uncomfortable bad, not just because of the contrived dialogue, or the shallow characters, or the gratuitous and disgusting loli panty shots (oh yeah, that's a thing), it's that all of these sins have coalesced into a single insult to the medium. I see no more fitting rating than a 1/10.
This OVA tries to put a fresh spin on the old vampire anime type. It could have been great™ if it was expanded into a 13 ep series, however it seems it was mostly a marketing ploy to get more audience into the manga. Story: 7 You will see your usual cliches: sole survivor of some ancient clan, Romeo-Juliette type of romance, the classic childhood friends who develops a romantic feeling twords the main char and a bit of love triangle, etc, etc. That said, the story is well blended and there are hints about several possible interesting development angles, which (most likely) will be expandedin the manga. A few things prevent me from giving a higher score: - the story is unfinished (for obvious financial reasons) -the author slaps in some Romanian folklore terminology to tie some story loose ends but doesn't understand their real meaning, proving a lack of proper research -some elements don't quite fit in. Without spoiling too much, I don't know what to think about vampires using 'supernatural' swords ... Art: 9 The art was good and convincing, up to today's standards. Nothing major to spot here Sound: 8 Sound effects and lip sinc are ok in the Original language, the music could have been better but that's just me. Character: 9 While the secondary characters don't get much screen time due to the shortness of the ova, the main characters get plenty of development and background. Enjoyment: 8 The pacing is well done, high pace action/story advancement is tempered with char development and comic relief. Should provide a satisfying experience Overall:7 Should be a good anime to watch if not expecting too much. It's unlikely you will be bored
I decided to watch this because after about five chapters I got too lazy to read the manga, which is pretty bad since there's only 16 chapters and they aren't very long. I'm not gonna say I should've stuck with the manga because I doubt it would have been better, but I really wish I didn't waste 40 minutes by watching this. I guess it could have been a decent story, highly unlikely, if it was more than two episodes. But only being two episodes the story ends up being complete shit because you don't get an actual fucking ending. The only thing that wasaverage was the animation, but even that isn't enough for me to tell someone "hey if your ever really really bored, why don't you check this out you might not hate yourself for wasting your time on it" I really wish you could give this giant two episode piece of shit a 0, but since 1 is as low as it can get for overall score that's what it's getting
Holy Knight, a very short lived OVA too short in my opinion. While watching this i could only think this needs at least a part 3 but the series is already done for OVA at least. The first episode opens a whole box of questions that are never answered. A lot of terms are thrown around the viewer has no way to know except for general perception. So this show is very vague and mysterious all around. You will end this episode saying episode two better open up some answers. Episode 2 continues to disappoint you tho. It opens up a handful of more unanswered questionwhile answering very few of the past episodes. The fact that the main character is a vampire even is never really stated just kinda implied. I don't mind that they trust the audience to just kinda know but the fact they are vampires and the overall goal is never explained in any real detail that the viewer could fully get. You know what the main character wants and why shes doing it but not really "why". Honestly the only good point of this show is the art and scenery. I liked the designs of a lot of little details like the tattoo and just the general interiors and stuff. The show is a flimsy 4. It just doesn't explain itself well enough to be a very entertaining watch and there isn't much action to even compensate for that fact. If anything its like a half baked romance, mystery show but you gotta answer a fair amount of questions for it to be a mystery. Just adding more and not answering enough just makes it unwatchable. This is a half decent anime that really lacks in story but if you like the visuals you might enjoy it.
SPOILERLESS REVIEW This show is short, very short, so my review won't be too long. Holy Knight in one sentence: Rushed and wasted potential. STORY: 4/10 As for story - It is nothing amazing, its bad and rushed, but hey !, there is no way to properly cover a lot of story in 2 episodes 26 minutes each long. It is all about semi-vampire girl - Kishimoto that want to fuck young "handsome" student - Shinta because that was her "fate". Apparently this boy have some powers too. Shockingly, after I watched 2 episodes I was kinda sad, because I really think that the story could go in greatway and deliver amazing experience for the viewer, sadly it just ended after 2 eps with the "MEH????" ending. ART: 7/10 Art is the strongest part of the show (exposed boobies huhuhu), but nothing special, the lines were pleasing to the eye despite some visible shortcomings. It was just good. SOUND: 6/10 Sound, despite my expectations was good and by sound I mean OP, some little OST and ED, but oh my... the sound effects... they were bad, very bad, for example, character's footsteps were too loud and felt unnatural, + we got a bunch of repetitive "stock" low quality overused sound effects. Opening is the best part of the musical aspect of this anime (it had nice lyrics too!) CHARACTERS: 6/10 Characters were just meh, not memorable and really simple. I would rate characters 4/5 If not those 2 guards - 1 guarding Shinta and one guarding Lilith. Especially that cat with heterochromia was quiet interesting character, and I perhaps liked her the most from entire cast of characters despite the fact that she had nearly to 0 character development. Design of characters are simple but fitting to the atmosphere. What really bothered me too was the fact that some characters appeared twice or few more times and they were just there, LITERALLY nothing about them had been said, they were just shown to the viewer. Two main characters were meh - uninteresting at all Lilith that actually got some backstory and "your-usual-harem-boy" Shinta that was ok-ish but nothing outstanding was told about him. At the end of the end he just got a little bit more interesting, and then this anime just ended (lul). ENJOYMENT: 7/10 Nonetheless, I was enjoying this show, I just wanted it to develop more interesting story and especially characters. There was scene with exposed boobs, so + as well (am I really ok to say this :I ? it was quiet disturbing scene tho) OVERALL: 6/10 Despite all the flaws and omnipresent mediocrity I think it is worth a try, it is barely 60 minutes of show so you won't lose too much if you happen not liking it at all. Story, characters and art make this show at least merely enjoyable. You won't like it if you are too fussy tho. If you are fan of vampire-powers genre you should think about watching it and then reading the manga because I heard that there is not that bad continuation, but if you have other, better things to do you shouldn't focus on this too much. there are surely a lot more well-written and/or animated shows about vampires out there.
This Anime, OVA, you know what i mean is just okay it does not follow the manga's approach to hentai but it does relay the same story. It is sort of like just a quick way to introduce the main story and thats all everything else is in the manga but everything pans out much slower due to the fact it isnt 2 chapters like the OVA's 2 episodes. overall it is okay but its not very important my sugestion is if you think it sounds cool read the manga but be prepared for many sexual drawings. ^^PEACE^^
I was quite disappointed. I mean I haven't read the whole Manga, but I started it, and so I finally got around to saying, "I should watch this 2 episode OVA". Disappointed. First of all, I got a little bit of understanding as to the background of the story. The intro to this OVA is something i did not see in the Manga. From there, EVERYTHING is rushed. Characters are barely introduced. The two main characters are confusing because they just suddenly meet, and there is no explanation as to if one is a hero, an anti-hero, or are they just both confused. The guys childhoodfriend just comes off as a stupid girl. I mean, she comes off as having a problem in the Manga, but the Anime just made her annoying, and not so much serious. Also, of the things they didn't censor, it's a wonder why they would make some changes to the story for the sake of censorship. I mean, it just barely misses the Hentai label, whereas the manga probably should (and probably is if I didn't know) be labeled as Hentai. If by the end of Episode 1 you were wanting to know more about what this story is about, Watch episode 2 and you will learn... basically nothing. Episode 2 is just that. An introduction to more characters, going further into what the plot is about and just a little bit more about the main characters' past, and then the boy "awakens".
complaint very bad, for my the ending was like was that fk ending. they should've made anime out of this, why because they only have ova and the manga, but i am not person that read manga's.. also the ending was just bad. Do Not Read This, i've you don't want to read Spoilers but then again its not worst spoiler because you now she saves the vampire chick but then .. what happens then.... because in episode he finally gets his power and pushes the guy and he fly's against fuckingwall and then he leaves the guy alone to let him kill the girl him self..................... but he saved the girl, but you didn't them escape.
***SPOILERS*** The plot. It's about some vampire girl who is being hunted by some kind of organisation( wasn't really explained why, maybe because she's a vampire) and she wants to have kids from guy-protagonist ( isn't explained either why she wants it). In the beginning plot doesn't make any sense, actually the plot doesn't make any sense at all. I understand that it's pretty hard to explain a decent plot in 60 minutes. I mean they could at least try to do it, but they didn't. The plot has so many holes in it. As an example, It's like you are watching an anime from 10th episodeand there is only one episode left. After you have watched last one, everything doesn't make any sense. I guess they tried to make something out of nothing. The story is really corny. Briefly, plot sucks. That's pretty much expected from short ovas. Animation and Sound were ok I suppose. Nothing really special. The plot didn't bother me as much as characters did. Oh man the characters. I'm talking about the main two characters in particular. Worst characters I've ever seen. I really don't have the words to describe them. Actually, all my hatred is towards the male lead. I mean, when he meets this girl for the first time, she wants him to come for a talk and then she basically says that she wants kids from him. And then he goes like "Uhm.. okey let's do it'', excuse me WHAT???????? Are you shitting me? Who the fuck would accept that when he first meets a girl. He really stands out from all characters. The other characters were bad, half of characters didn't make any sense by this I mean their pressence in the story. The writers could as well not introduce the half of the characters. Conclusion. It's just simply terrible. Unless you want to see some naked tits or just willing to have another anime in your watched-list, dont watch it. If you're going to watch it, you will just completely waste your precious time.
Looking for something mindless? Yes, here's Holy Knight. "It's ooo-kay!" Story, 6 -Fair I found the story satisfying. Not at all challenging to follow, but entertaining enough to keep you going through two simple episodes. I wouldn't say this is a series to get real invested in, more like a casual show that I'll forget about soon. It moves at a reasonable pace for two episodes. The plot doesn't stall unnecessarily. The script is decent, though some of the lines made me feel vaguely uncomfortable. It leaves off with room for more episodes, but, for me, with enough of a conclusion to be content with notwatching any more. Art, 6 -Fair The characters all have distinctive designs. I enjoyed the animation, and found it bright and fluid and energetic. None of the actions are awkward, though limbs sometimes got disproportioned. The brief action scene with Shinta is ridiculous though. Sound, 6 -Fair I watched the English dubbed version. I wouldn't say I loved the voices, but they still suited nicely and were hugely influential in making the characters individuals. The soundtrack isn't something I would scour the internet searching for download links. However since it was just two episodes, I listened to both opening and ending straight through. Thinking "it's only two episodes" made the series especially bearable. Character, 5 -Mediocre Nothing particularly loveable here, although I did sympathize with Lilith. However the cast was made up of mediocre characters that were essentially tools to carry out the plot. Wasn't really expecting much else. So overall I rate it a 5. Since I didn't have high expectations to begin with, I wasn't let down. Thanks for reading!
