Risa Hanakago has always thought that falling in love makes the whole world sparkle. Although she longs to experience this herself, it seems futile without romantic prospects of her own. However, a chance encounter lands her in the sights of Touga Yuugure, a popular boy in her school. Charmed by each other, Risa and Touga quickly become a couple, but it remains unclear whether a relationship between a plain girl and a well-liked boy can last. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Well, my review will be as short as the OVA. The main characters are the who girl and the popular boy who have never talked before, but one day they do and start becoming friends. It's one big cliché, but I think that cliché animes and mangas can be good if well produced. Is this the case here? Absolutely not. It's just a rushed anime because some team decided to turn, I don't know, maybe 30 chapters of the manga into a less than 20 minutes anime. Everything happens way too fast that you can't connect to the characters, their friendship, the romance... basically to anything. It couldhave potential if it was a 1-cour series, we don't know. Furthermore, the art is not fantastic enough to make the OVA enjoyable. And it's way too sparkly, so it's not everyone's cup of tea. Sound has absolutely nothing memorable. Anyway, as a shoujo fan, it''s nothing painful to watch, but if you're not a fan of the genre (or not used to it) and/or is expecting quality, go watch something else.
This is my first review so it probably won't be the best. So, what i thought of Nagareboshi Lens was it seems really interesting. I thought they could of done WAY better for the first episode because it never explained how they got together but they'll probably explain it in episode two. I find this anime VERY cute and it reminds me SO MUCH of kimi ni todoke which i love. The characters are interesting but sometimes it's pretty cliche and predictable. Story line is getting there it's pretty good. Art, it's really different big eyes and modern clothing. Music, i like it, it has that kind ofslow but nice sound to it. Enjoyment, it reminds me so much of kimi ni todoke so i find it enjoyable. Overall if you're looking for an anime that's cute interesting and dramatic i think Nagareboshi Lens is what you're looking for.
Please, don't give up on NAGAREBOSHI LENS!! I like the anime but I LOVED THE MANGA!! (MUST READ THE MANGA!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU LIKE KIMI NI TODOKE) The rating of Nagareboshi Lens may look like a "D+" or almost to "C-", but overall, I watched it and I liked it. It's not as bad as you think it is!! I think everyone should give it a try if you like the shoujo/romance genres, and if you also like those fluffy, heartwarming feelings when you watch an anime. I highly suggest reading the manga(currently ongoing) right after watching this 18 min. OVA. You will not believe howmuch stuff that was not included in that eighteen minutes you just watched. I want to start off with the story: 8 The story is nothing special or extra ordinary than other shoujo romance stories. Both two people(the two obvious ones) live in different worlds because one of them is just plain and the other is the top rank in school. They met eachother, realizing it was love at first sight and then randomly jumped to them saying that they were going for two weeks. In the anime, the story did NOT include: how they actually got together, when they started going out, who asked who and all the other cute stuff ect. ect. That's what bothered me the most. The scene starts off with them meeting eachother then randomly just jumps to them actually going out without any explanations. The next few minutes left of the eighteen minutes is just them doing their own thing. I really do recommend reading the manga. Not only reading the manga fills you in the "plot-holes", there are EXTREMELY cute moments that the anime 100% missed. Art: 10 Some people hate these kinds of drawings but I love "Chibi"!!(: Im inlove with Risa's hair, eyes, especially her natural blushing cheeks. Yuugure-kuns eyes amaze me. It's just a wow. The art is somehow similar to kimi ni todoke but Nagareboshi Lens's is drawn in the young, middle school stage and KNT is drawn in an older, highschool stage. Their smiles are similar as well. I think the art really sands out in this anime. Sound: 10 Sound isn't bad or good. It's just okay. The character's voice aren't annoying or oblivious, I think that it really suits them and their personality.(: Character: 10 The characters is what pulled me in this anime. I love those "popular guy liking simple girl" romance/shoujo animes. Lets start off with Risa. Risa is a simple as she can be, curly hair, no experience with love what so ever but she does dream of seeing someone "sparkle". She is best friends with Yuuko, she would always back her up, help voluntarily with school work, and gives advices. Risa is also often shy to tell Yuuko some embarassing things such as(who she likes). Yuugure-kun on the other hand is the total opposite. Yuugure is the most hottest and the most popular guy in school. He is in Class 2 which is on the opposite building as Risa is in. He is known the "Top Rank". Most of the girls have a crush on him. Yuugure has never had a girl friend or first love until recently. Both main characters are both lovable and just really cute. You'll love the characters from the begging to the end. Risa is one of the cutest girl I've ever seen and Yuugure is one of the hottest guy I've ever seen. I've got nothing against these characters!! Enjoyment: 8 I didn't really enjoy the anime as much as I did with the Manga. Eighteen minutes was just rushed and was time consuming. I still wouldn't have thought of making an 18 min. OVA if there were so many plot holes. It was just not right, it's like an incomplete jigsaw puzzle. The anime only had the border of the jigsaw puzzle and picture(all the main events) were missing. I still enjoyed it because it gave me the same "fluffy" feeling that kimi ni todoke gave me. It would have been better if this was turned into a series. it would have been MUCH MUCH better. Watch the anime for the fun of it and read the manga if you're still hooked(which i know you will.) Overall: 8 I did not hate this anime nor love it. Based on the rating, I really thought I'd hate and I prepared myself for the worst but it wasn't. It was quick and it was okay! I guarantee you watch it!! And don't forget to read the manga! Start from the very beginning because there were more things that happened!!(; Well here is my review!! I hope I helped!
The best way to approach the short and sweet 流れ星レンズ (SHOOTING STAR☆LENS) anime is as a long commercial for the manga. Shown at Ribbon Festa 2012, this animated short is targeted at readers of the manga. It takes for granted that you already know what is happening and why and will be delighted to see and hear already beloved characters coming to life. If you are not a reader of the SHOOTING STAR☆LENS manga (as I currently am not) you may be disappointed with this brief glimpse. We are not told how our hero and heroine started dating. We are not shownany conflict between them. It is truly a small slice of their lives and may seem too mundane to hold your attention. I sought out this anime because I was intrigued by the highly stylized art and I do enjoy that aspect of it. Its real hold on my affection though is because in its everyday ordinariness it perfectly captures school life in Japan. If you have taught or studied at a Japanese public school, this short will prove extremely 懐かしい (full of fond memories). If you were in middle school (in any country) over twenty years ago, this little anime may prove too adorable for words. It perfectly captures what makes young love so sweet and yes, a tiny bit silly. It's not a comedy by any means but it's hard to not chuckle at the emotional gravity given to things such as an exchange of love tokens. Presenting these moments with utter sincerity gives SHOOTING STAR☆LENS both its psychological realism and its charm.
I feel like if you put an entity of all that is shoujo into a bag, close your eyes and dip a hand in at random, this OVA would be staring you right in the face when you opened your palm. I love the shoujo genre but we have to be frank here, the entire story was incredibly cliché and sloppily put together. It's short but there are ways of making something not that great seem more amazing than it actually is and it's called good story telling. The entire thing is really mediocre Despite that, the animation was incredibly cute and easy on the eyes.It almost makes you forget that you're watching something that you've seen over and over when it comes to high school shoujo, and the soft music just adds onto its teeny-tiny disappointment that maybe this would have been a decent show if they had fleshed it out a little more. If you're between animes and want something light and fluffy to light up your heart, it's worth a watch.
Well...what should I say about this OVA?Too rushed!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recommend you all to read the manga first because I swear it's better and you will enjoy youself more! Story : 7 Well, the story itself is very beautiful and warming about the development of two middle schoolers which fell in love for the 1st time (in manga). Judging by the fact the OVA is only 18 minutes, you barely get a thing of what's going on there. Art : 4 Quality 0.The artwork is, in my own opinion, somewhere between so-so and terrible,I don't like it at all!!! I mean, it's as if you're playing a dating sim ona video game console . Compared with mangaka's impeccable artwork, this OVA is a dissapointment. I firstly thought it is a fan work because it didn't seem professional at all (for example, the characters's hair color : the 'light' it is spread in all directions which it makes it look unnatural). The character's moves are stiff (that's maybe because the scenes are TOOO short -> for example : he helps her tying her hair up and 2 seconds later he hugs her tightly and after another 2 seconds he's gone. I was like "wtf?"I mean, it should have been doki-doki and warm.Instead, it feels like I watched a magic trick...you see a scene, you clap, another scene. If I wouldn't have read the manga, I swear I'd be dumbfounded the whole episode) Character : 5 As I said, the artwork is kind of disappointing and , in my opinion, that's a minus for a character development in those 18 minutes of this OVA. The characters doesn't trasmit anything, especially their eyes. They seemed empty...completely opposite of manga. Enjoyment : 2 The company which worked for this episode should have reconsidered making an 13 episode anime instead of an OVA.It's a waste of time to watch this, really... Overall : 4 I expected more of this series but well, that's it. Please, instead, read the manga! It's very beautiful!
If you love cute romantic stories this anime is for you. The story is short but it knows what it´s doing with the time it´s given and not a single second is wasted. The story follows Risa who has a crush on the most popular boy at school. Risa is a hopeless romantic. The love between Yuugure and Risa is a love at first sight and it goes very quickly from “I´ve saw you” to “ I want to stay with you forever, I love you” Their schoolmates are jealous at Risa and want her to stay away from Yuugure. Characters: Risa is a typicalshoujo heroine. She´s very girly and cares a lot about her appearance. She also seems to be a hardworking person, who cares a lot about her studies. She meets up with her crush to learn more about him. I like how her feeling to Yuugure are portrayed. She´s madly in love with him but unsure about her feelings as well. I like how realateble she was and wasn´t extremely shy like many other shoujo protagonits, Yuugure didn´t get much screentime. He´s just a popular boy with a kind heart. The art style is gorgeous. Very romantic looking and works perfectly for the story. The anime is bit clishe but it´s so cute. And it works well for a short story about first love. This story made me smile. Definitely worth your time.
Okay well to be honest since this is a short 18-minute OVA you can only expect so many things to occur. And don't get your hopes too high- what you expect is going to happen IS going to happen. There isn't gonna be any plot twists or sudden developments you didn't expect because you can only put so much story into 18 minutes. So basically, the story revolves around the same thing that happens in every shoujo-slice of life-romance-school life where popular-guy-meets-average-girl romance. The typical girl who's never experienced love and this whole new experience with the popular guy at school opens up a whole newworld you never even thought you would encounter! Wow! Okay let's be real here. I had a lot of irks from this show that bottom line bothered me- and that's really saying something because I usually watch and read shoujos with no questions asked. Here are some problems: -It literally felt like Romeo and Juliet because honestly who dates someone they just meet? You practically only know 1. What they look like 2. What their name is 3. What class they're in 4. Have a vague idea of what their personality is like -There was sparkles. I'm okay with that but there was too many, exaggerated scenes too much -Their feelings for each other are overblown for such a short span of time they've known each other. Again, Romeo and Juliet? Art was pretty nice and cute. Sound was good- bonus points for Hanazawa Kana being a main voice actor. Character was just the typical shoujo characteristics of the main boy and girl character, so I'm okay with it. Overall it's a 7/10. If you have free time and want to watch some shoujo anime this one is sort of worth your time. Some things may or may not be questionable as they were for me.
