This anime began airing in the Winter of 2013, and is thirteen episodes long. I generally don't watch anime that are under the standard 24 minutes long, but this one caught my eye even though it was just five minutes long. It was produced by Dogakobo and Earth Star Entertainment, who have also done Natsuyuki Rendezvous, the currently airing Majestic Prince, and Seiken no Blacksmith, which are all pretty good anime that I've seen. I found the characters to be refreshing, and easy to relate to. The head editor was completely crazy, while the one with glasses seemed normal (most of the time). The comedywas pretty good, and had me laughing at alot of parts. Also, the opening was pretty catchy, and although I liked the animation and the characters, I felt it lacked development a little bit. I'm a scrooge for animation so this is mostly why I don't watch short anime, because their quality of animation is generally lower. This plot has already been done by Bakuman, even though Mangirl! is a little different. My favorite episode was probably where they went to the comic store and they were sold out. The mangaka was also pretty funny when she was starving and her apartment was filled with trash because her assistant was on vacation. I do feel like this anime shows what it's like to be a manga editor and mangaka. It could be considered almost educational even, overlooking the tangents that the crazy characters go off on all the time. A special is scheduled to air May 24th, for episode 14. I'll definitely be looking forward to watching these crazy characters after their success in the manga world.
Rate a 4 English Subtitles Decent at best not worth the watch. While no doubt the characters are cute and the background looks nice there is no covering the poor plot. Manga creation is a steady hard working job like most jobs. Requires skill, effort and a lot of money. They expect the viewers to be okay with the idea of not only an entire cast of amateurs trying their luck in the field but amounting to success? Sure, weird stuff has happened that can't be explained. Like what is up with area 51? Or the constant discovery of new creatures. But to say a gang ofschool girls will have what it takes to run a proper manga is too much. Looking past the poor plot and into each episode's content we see no improvement. While there an occasional comical retort or scene it isn't enough to stop me from fixating on how fast the cycle of progression is. A good manga allows the reader or viewer to relax and sink into what is happening. It is not meant as an old fashion Garfield strip. The point being those strips were meant for seconds of time. Art was nice for those but the fun lied within the words. Once the word bubbles were read that was mainly it for strips. But with manga it is more complex. While they both share text and pictures they provide more impact. Pictures are more detailed. Words are not told in simple joke form but in story form. With that education provided imagine one's feelings to when after a set time of a little past three minutes the episode cuts off. Disappointment comes to mind.
This title is click bait, just so you don´t get confused when you see no shemales or trans or whatever in this anime XD XD This is your really average moe girl anime, which I am not normally that much into, but because this is an short anime filled with okay good humor, then it was quite enjoyable for me even though it was still predictable because the main 4 characters are archetypes, you have your genki (Hana), your cute foody girl(Tsugumi), your nadeshiko(Ringo) and your meganekko(Aki) (if I have classified them correctly) XD and then some other few really archetypes supporting characters with no depth, the only really interesting character being Aki Torii All the rainbow faeces of the Unicorn - the good things - It is short, fitting portions of moe. - It had in fact a good plot, not special nor deep, but I liked that it didn´t feel that episodic. - I do in fact like the series for not being deep or anything like it because this was my comedy relief and I watched it when I didn´t want to challenge my mind - Aki <3! All the hurtful.... cringe! - The cons - No depth what so ever. - Really classic archetypes, so it becomes very predictable (but not that I mind for such a series) So yeah go into this anime with small expectations and enjoy it for its short episodic moeness :3
I was looking for a short, but funny anime to watch with my boyfriend. And judging by the name "Mangirl", it seemed to be a kinda funny anime. O boy i was wrong. Mangirl does not mean theyr'e transgirls doing Manga, theyr'e simply just "Manga-girls". Story 4/10 It's a decent, cute anime, nothing really happens. Well I know it's a slice of life anime, but this anime seriously went under average for slice of life too. Just random things that happens to a bunch of cute girls. I usually really enjoy short animes since the story gets faster and in my opinion, funnier. But it didn't workfor this one, sadly. There was no plot, nothing special about it. I just watched it while eating breakfast, just to have something to watch. Art 6/10 Everything looks adorable! Which is great because it is an adorable anime. I can't complain about the art, it wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad, it was just perfectly fitting for this anime. Sound 7/10 Oh god, that opening song. I both love it and hate it. The opening was hilarious, even tough i skipped it later each episode since it just got too much for my ears! About the voice acting... Adorable, cute voices that fit great to their characters! I really liked it! Characters 6/10 They were all kinda cute, simple, stereotypical, perfect for this short anime. I can't complain, they were easy to understand and easy to laugh at. Yup, this anime actually made me laugh! Enjoyment 5/10 As I mentioned earlier, i watched this while eating breakfast, which was good because i was tired, this anime was so simple that it was perfect for me in the morning. I was neither good or bad, just mediocre. Overall 6/10 This anime is great in the morning when you dont want to use your brain! But theres alot of better short animes to watch, but its still fine.
Story - It doesn't have much of a clear plot, though that could be due to the episodes only being three minutes. I'd prefer things be explained a bit more so that it doesn't seem as completely random as it seemed to me. Art - Pretty average. Nothing particularly unique about it. Sound - Average. Character - One thing I have to point out, is just how much Ringo looks like Ichigo Hoshimiya from Aikatsu. This is possibly coincidental, but who knows. The characters are a bit on the plain side, having seemingly no quirks I haven't seen before. Enjoyment - Despite what I've said about the art, story, and characters, I did enjoy this series. Particularly the last episode, the ending was great. Overall - I give it a six. I would have given it just a five, but that ending pushed me to six. While it wasn't one of those animes I'd looked forward to new episodes of this year, it was a nice, entertaining anime to watch. A lot of people have complained about the three-minute episode time, but I for one enjoyed that about it. I have a ridiculously short attention span and I doubt I'd finish a single episode if the episodes weren't short.
Story: not really much of a story too it to be honest just a bunch of girls who wanna start a manga company and end up doing that Art: art was very good nothing bad about it whatsoever Sound: sound was very good nothing bad about it Character: i like all the characters didn't have a problem with any of them actually like them all Enjoyment: now with this i did laugh afew times but not like alot or anything to be honest this is more of a sit back relax and enjoy watching Overall: gets a 7 for making laugh a few times also was a prettygood anime
It´s a funny happy-go-lucky miniseries about 4 women, who start working in a field they know little to nothing about, but get by each working day with gusto and learning on the go. It is even more impressive considering how naive, childish and inexperienced the editor-in-chief is, who is among the 4 women. She is also the scourge of a lot of the comedy. They each have their own distinctive personality. If you think their personalities lack dept, remember that we are looking at a total of approximately 40 minutes screen time. With that in mind, I think the characters are well fleshed out considering thetimeframe. We also get a satisfying conclusion to the plot despite the short time. This next segment is not about "Mangirl!" in particular, but more a little rant on a lot of people's attitudes regarding miniseries. I also think that this show (and a lot of miniseries in general) deserves a higher score than what it currently has on MAL. This is not just about this particular show, but short animes (each episode being 2-5 minutes long) in general. From what I see, it looks like a lot of people give short animes a lower score just for being short animes instead of scoring the show for what it actually delivers in terms of genre and promises. That would be like if I (who does not like pure FPS shooters) rated a FPS shooter alone on the fact that I just don´t like FPS shooters, instead of looking at the actual game´s execution and its´ delivery and being aware of what is being expected for that sort of game. Short animes work well with the comedy genre, but not with horror and very serious stories. At least from what I´ve seen. I hope people will be better at distinguishing their own personal taste when it comes to genres and length, or at least be more aware of them, when rating a show. The reason I hope this, is because I think it would be a shame if a low score would end up preventing someone from watching an otherwise good show. Until then; I´ve started to mentally add 1-2 extra points to the score I see given to a short anime since I think that often reflect the anime quality more correctly
