Harry is definitely not your average American teenager. Instead, he is the epitome of an "alienated youth"—friendless at school, extremely weird, and nervous to the point of paranoia. But a chance occurrence causes Harry to start to demonstrate what appear to be psychic powers—yet he neither believes in them nor consciously controls them. However, there are other ominous forces at work who do believe in Harry and attempt to make use of him in ways that are threatening and frightful. (Source: AniDB, edited)

I really liked this series. You wouldn't think it would work, but there's some quite clever aspects to it. Its incredibly difficult to explain this without giving spoilers. It does some very good jobs of torturing its characters in such a varied way that it makes those characters great. Harry really develops, and his fear is really believable. The story is cool, although the last episode leaves a little to be desired. You may have heard the ending is shit. This isn't true. It just could with a few more minutes! Still you leave the series without any sad ending you may have been fearing, and with no out of place fairy tale ending, but you get closure. Its a cool ending. The art is pretty interesting, especially the opening sequence which is.. bizarre. The character design is generally nice, and in some aspects a little more realistic than usual. The soundtrack is good, I don't pay any special attention to it, but it works well with everything else. Try this series, at least the first couple of episodes. I know it says to avoid spoilers, but this is nowhere near as bad as the spoiler that is in most of the synopsis's of this series- In the first episode there is an almost rape scene. If that disturbs you, you may want to stay away. Its quite awkward to watch. Still- it'd be ashame to stay away over one scene. But don't say nobody warned you.
Okay, so I'm a fan of all that psychic junk which is what dragged me in. Granted I get bored of that fairly quickly, but before I got bored they introduced one of those weird background motives of why you have such a strange protagonist. Those kind of things always draw me in, especially when they make you think at the end, and if do watch this and are open-minded to a lot of stuff, I guarantee you will...^^
OKAY...at first i was like this would be great but....the fact that harry was little bitch and never got balls and his expression was like he got his winkie cut off every second of every episode was pissing me off..the story was good but the characters blew...THERE WAS NO character development they stayed the same through out i urge you not to watch this show..avoid if possible...I think half of my soul is gone.
I watched the whole anime, thinking that it was going to get better in some way. Unfortunately, it just kept on spiraling downwards. The animation isn't that great, and I wasn't a big fan on how the characters were drawn either. I know most people are probably taking into consideration that Harry was just a really, really indecisive, almost annoyingly awkward character. I'm sorry, but if the main character acts like that, it's almost impossible to like the actual show. I don't think I heard Harry say anything substantial the whole entire time, and there are episodes where the longest thing he says is "Iwould like a roast beef sandwich" or something like that. The rest is usually some sort of gasping or name reiteration. There's not a lot of redeemable qualities of the guy with the most screen time, which is one of the reasons why the anime tanks. The concept of the story is actually very interesting, and the damaging effects that comes with Harry using his psychic powers are intriguing. But after a while, it's just really hard to watch through hours of people staring at one another and trying to keep up with what's happening in the crazy story line, only to have a vague conclusion after enduring everything that went on. I often wonder why I finished the anime.
A series with an excellent mystical detective story. And the drawing is pleasant, unusual, like European comics, although there are often not enough frames and the picture is static. Yes, the main character does not develop throughout the entire series and remains a smear. Yes, after episode 13-14, it turns from a classic thriller into classic anime tropes. Yes, the motives of the characters are highly contrived and will remain incomprehensible until the very end. But the plot of the series is not worthy of such a low rating. It's 8-9. But the rating itself is fully justified by one monstrous fact - the lack ofa clear ending. It seems that somewhere in the last 5-6 minutes of drawing, the director was called and told that there would be no more money and it was time to wrap up. The ending does not really explain anything, and is so ridiculous that there are simply no words. If you think that there will be a crumpled struggle between good and evil, alas, no. There will be an ending for Lost. A bit of ridiculous mysticism that seems to explain everything and, at the same time, does not explain anything. I really want to slap the same 2-3-4 rating into the series, but no. It's worth watching. Thrillers in the anime are very few, and the main series hold the bar well.
