Aoba Riku has just transferred to a new high school because of his father's job, and things aren't quite what he expected. The headmaster's secretary controls the school while espousing the virtues of academic freedom, the teachers are even stranger than normal teachers, and half the student body is walking around with animal ears on. On his very first day, Riku is unfortunate enough to find himself at the center of the student council's latest event, which has him running for his life. All this on top of the normal high school rigour of popularity contests, crushes, and homework makes it unsure whether Riku will be able to survive this new school. (Source: ANN)

For those of you who like humor, pretty girls romancing over a guy, and interesting episodes; this is one that I would recommend. Story: Ah the various goals of these romantic comedies. Is it for the guy to get the girl(s) or for them to graduate and have life lessons, etc... It is a harem comedy, so the guy has to choose between a few beautiful girls. It is a high school set, so you move through the school season. For me personally, the Journey is entertaining. The humor stands out. For example, they have a little chick (baby chicken) that is one of thecharacters, and acts like a mentor. It also has the ability to kick ass. For the most part the story is realistic; but they have a little bit of fun and can throw in ghosts and goddesses in select episodes. While this may be in the Harem category, it is not in the Ecchi category. There were no panty shots or girls with crazy cleavage. The girls are very pretty, and you do have girls with short skirts and huge ( ) ( )'s. The main female attraction is really quite amazing, and you find yourself rooting for something to happen throughout the episodes. Art: The art was well done, not cutesy or young. The main female attraction was very beautifully drawn. Sound: I actually enjoyed the intro song for all 25 episodes. Character: The main male character was well done. He was a normal nice guy, who was lucky and could excel at what he put his mind to. The variety of humerous characters were abundant, and fun. Not too much of specific ones to make it boring. Okay I lied, there were two instances where I didn't think they had to draw out (a teacher, and i didn't like the youngest love interest). But with 25 episodes, it was very good overall. I've seen quite a few of these romantic comedies, and this stands out as an entertaining series.
There are 3 main aspects that make a high-school harem love comedy work. 1 is pretty girls, the second is chracter drama and the third is comedic moments. Whereas Tokimeki Memorial hosts the first two, it is severely let down by the comedy. The attempted comedy in this show is very over the top and stupid, and while this may work for some, it fails to hit my funny-bone on more than a few occasions. Support characters, such as Aoba's friends are full of idiocy, yet lacking in any real substantial humour. The sports societies and their presidents are one off lame jokes, and by farthe worst is the chicken, Hiyoko, who, despite attempts to become the supporting entertainment that Da Capo's Utamaru brings us, fails to be comedic on any level. That said, its nice that the development between Aoba and his 3 main heroines is nicely paced and the nice guy with three main girls routine never seems to get old on me. Romantic scenes are full of drama and makes the series some what watchable if you can ignore the comedy aspect, although I could never understand why Sayuri was so popular because she feels and looks rather dull and uninpiring(And I have a personal hatred for those cheesy Sayuri Legends that pop up in episodes which try to be funny and heartwarming yet fail on that behalf). Another great character was Inukai, Aobas lazy classmate, whose story started incredibly well and was very dramatic, yet, in the end its a shame he didnt get more screentime. Visually, the series isn't top notch, but is competent enough to allow us to enjoy watching the show. The girls are all attractive and cater to many tastes, from Pink-haired firey Kasuga, to the slender Ayame (my personal favourite, there is plenty for the young otaku to lust over. The audio is forgetable but never intrusive on the main action, yet opener and ender songs feel lacking in life. Overall, Tokimeki Memorial wasn;t a total waste of time. Its nice that the main story developed rather realistically and was full of drama and heartbreak. I'm also glad that there was no flip-reverse 180 turn at the end of the story, otherwise I'd be ranting about that cheesy 1980's style end (although it was still a pretty over the top ending. I can't help but feel somewaht cheated afterwards, with the fact that, for one there was nothing new that you have''t seen in other harems before, and again, the lack of hilarity filling the episodes (I had more of a feeling of embarassment than laughter by the end.) Still if you're looking for a harem to fill your void between seasons, then Tokimeki will not disappoint, as long as you don't enter with such high expectations
This is the second best anime ever made. I never thought that this would happen, I really didn't, but I actually found a harem that turned out to be the best anime (TV) that I have ever seen. There are two main factors that contributed to this, one is the fact that the producers have found perfect harmony between storyboard and screenplay, it was simply beautiful. Secondly was the main character. He wasn't stereotypical at all, which is a first when it comes to harem. Usually harem main protagonists are guys with no redeeming traits nor any extraordinary attributes. Here we have a different type ofmain protagonist, here we have a guy who's honest, smart and he can run really, really fast. He has to run often though, because that mischiveous student council pres. is one sneaky fox! Then there's also the question of the main protagonists female (love) interest(s), these girls actually have a heart, they're actually colourful and are genuinly nice characters to look at and to see interact in the episodes. Again, not stereotypical for a harem at all. We also have the little chicken who basically is the main protagonists best friend. It turns out he's either some mutant chicken or he's on steroids, because he's one strong chicken! The sound is epic, simply outstanding, the OP is so catchy and good, but the ED is even better, the only slight downside to this anime is the background art at some points which can be a bit bare, but that's the sort of thing I'm willing to live with for a masterpiece like this.
To sum up Tokimeki Memorial - Only Love in the best way I could without giving spoilers: Pretend your an egg, freshly laid from your mother hen. You feel joy to the world as in a matter of days you will hatch and become a cute little baby chick. Then all of a sudden an old lady picks you up as well as your brother and sister eggs beside you and places you in a basket. Your thinking, "this old lady must think we're cold so is putting us some place we could hatch in a warmer environment, oh how kind she is!". Then you realizeyour in that old lady's kitchen, and to shock horror, a brother of yours is cracked, fried and on toast for that old lady's breakfast. That afternoon a similar fate happens to your sister as she is boiled in a pan of hot water. This terror follows for the next few days until you're the only one left. You've pretty much resigned to your fate, and with the temperature as it is, there is no sign of you hatching. Your the last egg in the basket and the only thing on your mind is, "will I become breakfast, lunch or dinner?" You've even gone as far to think how you'd like to be served. Fried rice? Scramble eggs? Boiled egg in ramen and so on, as you count your days. Then without warning, the old lady's grandson happens to see you and decides to keep you, and your thoughts are, "Yes! I am free!" You thank the gods as well as this wonderful being who has set you free. The child heads for the old lady's backyard, and you think, "Is he taking me to mum? Lucky!" He then places you on the ground opposite your brethren chickens and heads for the shed. You patiently wait for him to come back, and when he does he has with him a hammer. You think to yourself how kind this child must be as he's probably going use that hammer in his hand to fix the cage the other chickens are being kept in. "I may have seen hell whilst in that old lady's kitchen, but thanks to this boy I can enjoy freedom! When I grow up, I want to become an astronaut! Thank you little boy, and thank you...hey little boy? What are you doing? That's not how you use a hamm-...." SMASH! - are your final thoughts. For those who didn't get the metaphor to my little tale and are thinking of purchasing(or even downloading) this 25 episode anime with high expectations, let me give you a word of advice so you don't feel like you wasted a good amount of your life(as well as your money/download) like I did....this series is S***! The only reason why I finished it was due to my partner making me watch it as punishment for wasting money on the boxset.
Tokimeki Memorial is a pretty good anime, but it can have a few parts where you you feel that its been used a few times too many. Story: Good story, it'll keep you interested while bringing some laughs. There are some parts though like I said before that are overused. Art: Nothing really caught my eye, nothing was bad. Sound: The sounds was pretty good, I liked the opening song a lot. Character: There's a wide range of strange and funny characters, sometimes I feel there are a bit too many but in the end they contribute to the comedy. Enjoyment: This was a pretty good show, the comedy wasusually pretty good, often going for physical humor, no not ecchi, instead of catchy lines. Overall: Good anime that I feel is worth watching, I didn't love the ending, in fact I hated it quite a bit, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
At first glance you may think that Tokimeki Memorial Only Love is your typical harem. And I'm here to tell you it's so much more than that. Have you ever heard of a harem where the anime's most attractive ladies fall for the most uninteresting male lead? UNHEARD of. On top of which, the protagonist happens to be the nicest, most compassionate character, and is always willing to help out. Again, unheard of. In a world where we have anime powerful enough to make us cry of laugh our hearts out, we have anime even more successful with our emotions. Tokimeki Memorial offers expensive humorwith its funny vacuum monster and an advice giving chick. If that's not comedy gold, I don't know what is. But don't forget, there are those sweet moments in the anime where you consider crying your heart out. Where? During the ED when you realized you watched another 22 minutes of pure geniusness! Again, the anime doesn't enforce any harem stereotypes by making the main guy unnecessarily popular in school. Don't worry. This anime has none of that. There's absolutely no indication that Aoba is liked. And he doesn't get special treatment in any way. For a while you might think the main character doesn't like females, and I'm here to tell you that this may be true. But don't worry. This is not your typical anime where boy falls for the most unattainable girl in school without talking to her 3 times. SERIOUSLY, DON'T WORRY! The ending of this anime brings it at an all time high, with the most amazing ending that didn't have me thinking, "....wtf?" Definitely not. It had be thinking "What the firetruck?" Because I don't swear! All joking aside, this anime is a crock of shit, don't watch it unless you want to watch a horribly planned out anime. I don't know how people gave this anime anything higher than a 6. And if you meet someone that regards this as one of the best anime ever.... inflict some serious damage. :)))
Details: * Episodes: 25 * Genre: Schools, Romance, Comedy * Duration: 24 mins or more per ep's Characters: o Aoba, Riku- The main character who just transferred to the new school because of his father's work.o Amamiya, Sayuri- A second year student. The most popular girl in their school. An almost perfect portrait. Good grades, modest looking and auras. She has everything you would look for in a girl. o Tsukasa, Kasuga-A second year volleyball varsity player who ran into Aoba one day and appointed him to be her boyfriend. A type of girl who says directly and as honest as possible what she truly feel. o Yayoi, Mina- A freshmen student. She is one of the best swimmers from their school who has hidden feeling for Aoba. o Hiyokokkoko-A weird chick who has the strength of a muscle man... (really weird). Aoba is the only one who can understand him. Short Synopsis: The story of this series is centered on Aoba-kun. He is a high school student who had been transferring to different schools because of his father's work. His life on the new school was much of an emotional roller coaster ride. He unintentionally captured the hearts of 3 girls. Tsukasa, Yayoi and Amamiya. Just when everything is starting to be perfect, his parents told him that they would be leaving again. Everyone was devastated. Among the three girls, Amamiya was the only one who never showed her feelings for Aoba, she kept it well shut until she found out that Aoba would be transferring next year... The thing is... Aoba kun really likes her from the first day of school but Amamiya is a type of girl who doesn't have the guts to show her real emotions. Aoba never had even the slightest glimpse of what she really feels towards him. At the last day of their school . Aoba finally told Tsukasa that he never really loved her the way she did to him. (it can't be helped...) of course tsukasa was hurt because she really loved Aoba so much. On the other hand. Yayoi, after telling Aoba how she feels about him, she let him go and prayed for his happiness after that.(woah... martyrdom) And for the final ending I will just ask you to try watching the show... It realy is a great one. Review: There are some animes who started to get lame as we watch the episodes go by.. But this one is totally different. It will only get yuour attention as you go deeper. Especially when the romantic bonds mature. A bit of thrill because it will keep you guessing what will the characters do next. I was even drawn deeper into watching this show because as the episodes go by, I realized that I can somehow see myself in one of the character there(amamiya san)... A girl with a short fuse.. someone who easily gets jealous, someone who feels pain whenever this special someone gets along with other easily. Someone who treats other people coldly when jealous. Shouts at people.. Ouch...
Story: (I refuse to use the word "Harem", as it sounds like some fuzzy little creature that shits in your backyard.) The story of Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ was like eating a sweet, chocolate covered apple. Then, it turns out the apple was fake while only the sweetness and chocolate were real. While it is weak, however, that does not make it a bad one. It's just so simple and insubstantial that it's about as memorable as shagging a girl after you've *almost* had to much too drink. You're sure it was a fun and happy experience, but it's nothing you'd ever want to touch again. Thereview value is little, especially after you've seen the ending that makes you want to gag. However, the story wasn't that bad, as I've said before, it just wasn't memorable. It was just the generic guy moves into school and gets a bunch of girls. Art: Pictures make story go. That's it. Well, I guess i could say more than that. The character designs were good, if not a little generic. Everything felt as fluent and easy to the eyes as it should, which is a good thing, because when your distracted by the insufferable whining of *certain* characters, at least you have something to look at. Sound: Yeah, just read the sound review for any good anime ever and just save me the time. Time to move on to my favorite part, characters! Characters: This is what saves the show from what I, always being right, am afraid of. Even the cliche characters feel like they have more than two personality traits and are enjoyable to watch. The side characters, while being just side characters, actually feel like they help the plot advance. Oh, and did I mention the ass kicking baby chicken? Yeah, you'll see. Enjoyment: This was actually a very well done anime. I found myself laughing very hysterically at times, and then getting angry at the cliches that continually filled my screen. Overall: There are worse things you could be doing with your time. So yeah, watch it. I assure you that you laugh at least once, if not a dozen more.
Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~. If you read the title, it sort of appears to be some sort of 'only love' series with nothing but love and romance. It however is far from 'only' being a love, love, love and romance series. It's way more than that. Throughout the review I'll explain the 'why' to you; as well as other dislikes and likes about this Anime so you can watch or not watch this Anime with a determined heart. I started Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ with no particular expectations; I was open minded and neutral. The first episodes seemed to be fairly interesting; as it had a lotof things I liked about it. It was animated nicely; had comedy that made me laugh and a bunch of interesting characters. I swiftly changed to the second episode after the fist episode finished; and after that swifted on and on until I finished the series. The thing about this series is that it's so well worked out; it's scary. There are no highlights at all. Just episode 01 to episode 25 being pure enjoyment. There was development however; so it wasn't anything utterly useless. The comedy is great; especially this weird yellow fluffy thing (won't tell what it is, I don't want to spoil things now would I?). There were events in school; funny ones by that. There were no complaints about Tokimeki Memorial; who had both romance and comedy brought out into a funny story. There was no particular story; just a guy being transferred to a school where he falls in love, same as some girls fall in love with him. The concept is easy to get and doesn't expects much of you; it just wants you to sit back and enjoy. Which is what I did. But was there really nothing to dislike about this series? There sure were. Some episodes were sort of crappy; some episodes were sort of lame. However, in overall it was good. There was just ONE thing that bothered me incredibly. The feeling that you've wasted time. Even though the Anime is pretty good and enjoyable; I did feel like I've wasted time. You start a series, and once watching it want certain things to happen or appear. However, Tokimeki Memorial didn't gave me this; no reward for following this through for 25 episodes. The ending, is not what I wanted it to be. The title makes sense if you've watched and completed the series. So if you don't like bad endings; don't watch the series, or watch it until episode 23 or so. For any other Anime fan out there; this relax series is fun and can fill your time with ease without problems. So this is definitely worth checking out for almost anyone.
this anime includes : romance, harem, comedy it's a lil bit different than the normal harem animes becouse the main charecer gets together with a one girl at the end. the drawings and the character were cool to so they made me keep watchin the ending was a lil bit bad i think main character transfers a different school and make a girlfriend from his old school ^_^'' well whatever it was cool so np at the end the series are cool and enjoyable.if u didn't watch it just go for it by the way if u are into ecchi u WON'T FİND İT İN THİS ANİMEnot a slightest of it :P
Ill admit, it is lacking a little in character development here and there, and in addition it may have a lacking plot. However, this anime really does end quite well, and it is one of the only animes I was wondering if I can rate over a 10, such as maybe a 12/10. I cannot completely describe what aspect of this redeems itself to deserve the score, however when you watch it, I think that the combination of elements will speak for itself. Therefore I would recommend this highly. Some points I can complement (in specific): The theme song and music was very good. Clear crisp tones and crescendosas well as appropriate music for certain events made it all in all a well coordinated, enjoyable experience. The artwork in some locations was lacking, but on the whole this was some of the best artwork I have seen in comparison to other anime. I know that the anime was possible of exhibiting a much higher standard of art, as they did so on occasion, however this was very good just on general :D I like the hidden plot as well as symbolism exhibited slightly in many of the actions of the characters as well as the animals. In addition, while they dont develop the characters too much, the characters initial personality is dynamic and fluid and they created an apt persona to the character. It combined appearance and temperment very well. Basically W A T CH THIS!
