The Team Rocket leader, Giovanni, has found Mewtwo in a remote area of the Johto region. As Giovanni tries to re-capture Mewtwo, Ash and his friends are kidnapped by Domino, a new Team Rocket member, while trying to rescue Pikachu from Jessie and James. The Clone Pokemon are also captured and are then used as bait for Mewtwo. The situation then becomes a battle between the wills of Mewtwo and Giovanni; and Mewtwo also tries to discover if it and the clones have a purpose in life, even though they are products of science. A good continuation to the first Pokémon movie; they stick to the same themes, music and type of art. The plot is good, but perhaps a bit weaker than in the first installment. Same themes are rolled back and forth, over and over: do the copied, cloned Pokémon share the same rights as their original versions? Where do the clones belong? Will they ever be able to live in peace? As good as that idea is, being repeated over and over really kills it. We got it the first time, now let's move on. A good watch, definitely worth it. Goes flawlessly with the first movie.
This might have been the first Pokemon movie I ever saw. Which, must have been abit confusing for me when I first watched it, since this is kind of a sequel to another Pokemon movie. But, honestly, the movies made up most of the Pokemon watching I ever did(I was more into collecting the cards), other than afew episodes which I was able to watch. My review may not be 100% accurate, since it was quite afew years ago that I watched it, and I watched the English version, which might have been mildly edited, even though I doubt it. So, this is where Ifirst saw the Pokemon MewTwo, known as the strongest Pokemon, atleast I think so. Remember, my memory isn't picture perfectly clear. We are are also introduced to a new bad character, Domino, and while I like her character design and her cool outfit, she's really nothing compared to the original Team Rocket, but I think she was meant to be like that. Overall, this was a pretty good movie, but nothing that would honestly inspire you very much. I mean, it is just a Pokemon movie. Still, it might be fun to watch, and might be nostalgic if you too watched Pokemon when you were little.
OG Team Rocket action. I'm a big fan of Giovanni and to just not know about this movie would be a complete missed opportunity. In Mewtwo Returns, Giovanni leads his Team Rocket force with helicopters and machines to attack and control Mewtwo. We see just how evil and ambitious Giovanni is as he is determined to bend Mewtwo's will to his own will even if it would destroy Mewtwo. Just like that Giovanni is such the epic and interesting boss. He is more than after capturing strong Pokémon, Pokémon are only a tool and Giovanni would subdue with power all that will serve his planto rule the Earth. The star of this movie is Giovanni, Mewtwo, and also the high rank Team Rocket Grunt Domino. She's hot with the Big R on her chest on the Team Rocket uniform! Her role of playing as undercover was good and I love she punishes Jessie and James as losers, Jessie and James gargles it waiting for their chance, they don't like each other for sure XD Her only appearance is here, I want to see more of her. She can talk like an equal to Giovanni and Giovanni allows it. I'm sure it's cause Giovanni likes them young and hot. Also she is useful, loyal, and amazing, I can see why Giovanni keeps her by his side. The first movie briefly sets up and the rest of movie was just Mewtwo challenging all Pokémon with the clones. In Mewtwo Returns, Mewtwo asks the real questions as different they are from the rest, to just disappear and erase everything or understand the world they live in is also theirs. I love that Mewtwo acts heroically all to save the Pokémon clones from Team Rocket and fighting for the place and freedom they want. Ash finally does something cool to save Mewtwo by tossing him in the healing water. YOU GO ASH this time !!! Great way to do an even more awesome sequel movie!
