Students at the Houjou academy are perfectly normal—except for those who take the Kuge course. This special course is reserved only for elite and rich students and their "honeys." Hagino Yuzuru enrolls in the course through Kai Renge, and she quickly regrets it. To become a honey, a student must get someone already in the Kuge course to sponsor her. Kai becomes Hagino's sponsor, getting her into the course and paying the price to cover it. But in return, Hagino must submit to him as her master, catering to his every whim. Hagino may have gotten herself into something she can't handle. But if she pulls out now, she gets expelled from the school. Can she make things work with Kai, or will she call it quits before he does something she'll regret?

I somehow managed to stumble upon this steaming pile of roses while wandering MAL and seeing how I haven't seen much common, cute, lovey-dovey romance in a while, so I was like 'heck, one hour of sweet romance would be enough for now'. Now I say, I should've used my precious time for something that actually has a point. The plot you read in the description is nothing more but a poorly developed excuse for sexual harassment which, as we all know, doesn't really scream romance. It's a typical special school with special rules kinda deal and it is exactly as terrible as it sounds. Voiceacting sucks. Illogical and legal harassment galore. Boring, predictable, and cliche. The rare moments where something romantic would happen were cute, and the beginning actually looked promising, which I totally can give credits for but the mood is sadly kinda filled with rape innuendo. Sorry, Honey. Pointless drama everywhere. It's just bad. Go on, now. Shoo.
You know the top reviews of this two part OVA say... "don't watch it" -- well, if you were thinking of ignoring them and watching it anyway just because it sounds interesting... DON'T DO IT!!! Because that's what I did, because I figured it can't be that bad, I'm bored so I'll watch it anyway and geez.............. It was offensive, ridiculous, and mind-numbingly lame. The main guy is the guy who voiced Hikaru in Ouran, which I liked him for... and I liked his voice in this too, except that there is something mentally wrong with his character's personality. He seems a bit deranged, trusts noone, yet somehow knows how to love in a twisted way. The story was shallow and forced (I think because things were glazed over - hopefully this will be fixed in the manga, which I have yet to read) and made no sense in some places. The most ridiculous things happen and really make you think "what? why would an armadillo be there..." but you know what, forget it, let's just stop using our brain for this one. Even if I stop using my brain, and there is definitely a storyline... why does this anime suck so bad? I can't figure it out, but all I can say is that it pained me to watch it and I hope the manga's better (usually is). I will be the next in line to say: Just don't watch it!
The first two minutes was disgusting. I couldn't stand how rude and arrogant Kai was. Other than the sexual harassment scenes, I think the anime was good. Typical love story, cool, cold guy and a stupid girl. I think if the anime wasn't an OVA and had more episodes, it could have been a lot better. Also MINUS the sexual harassment scenes. This OVA is degrading towards women for God's sake. Master and Honey. eh. Well anyways, if you want a good typical love story, here it is with some sexual harassment scenes.
Everyone has their own opinions on this anime. But if you truly watch thoroughly through all of the episodes, you'll be a little touched. It's love. But it's expressed in a way that makes you hate it, but hate that you love it. I really wished there were more episodes. The art in this OVA is also WAY better than the art in the book. Time to hit the Manga Books. The manga for this series goes up to 8. The anime would be much better if it wasn't a OVA. That's really all I can say about this series.
When I finished it, my first idea was "WTF?!" Story is simply cliche. A rich boy which is used to bully girls. Of course he is popular, pretty. A poor girl, which has to do a servant for him. He is an arrogant jerk, she can't do anything, even if she is trying to beat him. And in the end... nah, I know I'm not supposed to write spoilers, but... honestly, in this story isn't any surprises, just a clear cliche so you probably know how it will finish. And art... I watched it in terrible quality, but... when you compare it with... Seirei no Moribito, for example,so SnM will have 10 points and Mitsu x Mitsu Drops maybe 2 or 3. I don't like it. Cliche, predictable, boring anime. It's good, when you look for simple, stupid "romantic" story to kill some time. But if you want to see some quality, don't watch it.
When i first saw this show i thought awww cute romance. Then i read the reviews for this and i wasn't gunna watch it, but i was like heck its only two episodes it might be good. In the end it turned out i did like it. Story (8/10) Yes the story is a huge cliche, but might i just add that it is cliched for a very good reason! (: The story went a bit overboard with the sexual harassment, but other than that it was a cute story about a rich boy who couldn't express his feelings so he buys the girl, blah blahblah. I thought it was still pretty cute =] Art(6/10) I always suck at rating art cause i just like one certain type the best so if it isn't that the show gets a low rating. So don't take my opinion for this one. Sound(7/10) Also not very good at this one either. The music was just kinda there. None of it made u wanna look through the credits and find out what it was if you know what i mean. Lots of cute surprised noises and stuff like that ;) Character(7/10) Cliched, but still good. Poor innocent girl, and the rich mean guy, fill in the blanks. Supporting characters were basically non-existent, but what do u expect from a 2 episode ova. The main characters were fun to watch but not memorable. Enjoyment(8/10) I really enjoyed this ova. I'm not sure if i would have enjoyed it if i had not just watched two animes that completely destroy my emotions and made me lose all hope of happily ever after ever happening again. So it is definitely a good pick me up and emotion restorer(yes i made that word up :D) =P if ya get what I'm saying. Overall(9/10) Kinda high but i really did enjoy it given the circumstances. Although mine is the only positive rating, i think if the description appeals to you watch it, it's only two 30 minute episodes it won't ruin your life from watching it, even if you don't end up liking it.
okay, so no matter how bad or how good an anime is, i never felt the urge to write a review. this is a first for me, so i think you can take this as a sign. i don't even know what i just watched. to be honest, that's what you get when you're bored, and want to watch a random shoujo anime, without even reading the synopsis and trusting only on the title. i mean, something that has "honey" on its title not only one but two times... it's gotta be at least super cute and sweet and romantic and blah blah blah... right? that's wherethings go entirely wrong. the stockholm syndrome is strong in this one. sure, let's romantize sexual abuse! let's make the girl fall in love with this despicable guy for absolutely no reason! they only met for a week and the guy harasses her all the time, but who cares? SPOILERS AHEAD (but really, i wouldn't care to avoid it because the show spoils itself, it's a mess, don't waste your time watching, just read this so you know exactly what you're not missing) i hated every single second of it. not only for this "plot" or the constant abuse in the show... but also because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AT ALL. i really just watched the second episode because i expected some kind of explanaition for what i had just watched on episode one. i mean... they are on a SCHOOL INFIRMARY and there's NO ONE in there, not a nurse, not even a teacher. and that allows the guy to just put his hand on her panties and bra (sure, without asking the girl because this is every girl's dream, to be harassed at school by a spoiled brat, so who cares?) and OF COURSE the girl is disturbed by that action, but the plot is SO bizarre that somehow it makes the girl love him even more. then there's the basket scene... there are A LOT of students in the sport court, and the guy still manages to touch her boobs again (like a punishment, so HE KNOWS that it is wrong to touch her like that, and still does it later), put her in doggy style and touch her body AGAIN while in this position... AND NOT EVEN A SINGLE SOUL QUESTION THAT THING HAPPENING AT DAYLIGHT. the thought that this is natural for this people or that they enjoyed watching it (i mean, for what other reason people wouldn't REACT at this? besides the obvious plot hole, of course) is even more terrifying to me than the guy's attitude. and when you think things couldn't get any worse, the show makes the big revelation: the guy loves the girl! he only acted that way because he likes her! of course! l can't stop thinking about this sick mind that thinks the natural way to treat someone you love is by raping. i don't know what to say anymore. i am pissed off for wasting my time watching this, but the reason i'm really mad is because someone had the balls to WRITE this thing and, even more outrageous, someone read the script and thought "HEY, THAT'S A GOOD IDEA, LET'S SPEND MONEY PRODUCING IT!". humanity never ceases to impress me. to be fair, i can't say that i cringed the entire time. i'm brazilian and, in portuguese, the name of the guy "Kai" is the same sound as the word we use to say "i fell". so, when the girl's in that ferris wheel and she she falls, screaming "KAI", i laughed a LOT. that's how pathetic this show is, it made me laugh of something stupid like this.
In my years of watching anime, I have encountered a decent amount of shoujo anime. There were some good ones, some meh ones, and maybe some that were kind of bad. However, never in my life have I watched a shoujo anime that has left me so infuriated I could go on a rampage. That is, until I watched Honey x Honey Drops. To all of the other girls out there: THIS KIND OF ROMANCE IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Do NOT think it is acceptable, or I don't think we can be friends. Now, let's move on to the actual review, shall we? The premise of Honey xHoney Drops is rather simple, actually. There is a school where rich kids take some kind of course known as the Kuge Course. The students in this class pick a student who is not taking the class as their "honey". The "honey" has to obey all of their master's commands, and in exchange, the master pays for the "honey's" tuition in the school. Yuzuru Hagino is chosen as the "honey" for Kai Renge, a rich guy who finds any way possible to sexually harass poor Yuzuru. Yeah, I just said "sexually harass". The story for Honey x Honey Drops.... wait, what kind of love story could be crammed into two OVA episodes? It's a generic love story that is rather poor-executed. The animation isn't too bad, but it's not great at all. The voice acting could have been done better, to be honest, and I really don't care about the OP and ED, either. Now, with that out of the way, let's talk about the biggest problem I have with Honey x Honey Drops: THE CHARACTERS. Kai is absolutely despicable, and the things he does to Yuzuru is completely unacceptable. If he loved her, why make her suffer so much?! Yuzuru is a very stupid character, too, taking this abuse. I mean, Kai has done so many awful things to Yuzuru, yet she loves him anyway?! What the heck is with that kind of logic?! I was at least hoping for Chihaya to be a better love interest for Yuzuru than Kai, but he ends up being even more despicable than Kai! I also didn't care for any of the supporting characters. So yeah, Honey x Honey Drops is NOT a good anime. If you want to see what a shoujo anime should NOT be like, be my guest. I warn you, though; there are better things you can do with an hour of your time.
Well, I decided to randomly pick and complete something off of my "Dropped" list, and I chose to review this. And it turned out to be surprisingly offensive. So, let's get this over with. Story - 3/10 The main element of a plot is that there's a "Honey" System at this high school called Houjou academy, which basically allows a normal student to enroll in a course normally reserved for rich kids; however, this requires a normal student to become a "honey" of a rich student, who becomes their "master". In a well-written comedy, this premise would likely lead to the "honey" getting assignedsimple tasks, only to go on comedic misadventures while donig said tasks. But since this is a drama, instead of doing what would be the easy thing (but the one that would actually be enjoyable) and focusing on a pairing of a honey with a nice master, we get a pairing of a honey (named Yuzuru Hagino) with a jock who's also a pretty big asshole (named Kai Renge) - and there's a love triangle, with a guy (named Chihaya Yurioka) who wants Yuzuru to be HIS honey. I'll come back to the characters in a minute. Art - 6/10 The art is...actually rather good. It's definitely one where the art is better than the anime that it's showing. It's not good enough to justify watching the show just for the animation, however. Sound - 5/10 The sound is okay, and it does fit the mood, but it's also...very forgettable. I guess the problem is that it's not one that I'd really want to listen to on it's own. It's more of one that's better than the anime it's attached to. Also, there's no dub, so I can't comment on that. Character - 2/10 There are only 3 characters really of note, so I'll focus on those 3. All 3 of them can be described using other, more likable, characters from vastly superior show. Yuzuru reminds me somewhat of a fusion of Sakura Chiyo from Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun and Hinata from Naruto - except she's nowhere near as strong (personality-wise) as a fusion of those 2 characters actually would be. Kai and Chihaya remind me of a fusion of Takami Usui from Maid-Sama! with a different character (in Kai's case, it's Taiga Kagami from Kuroko no Basket; in Chihaya's case, it's Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass). And, both characters have none of the likable traits - Kai inherited the "jerk" side of Taiga, and stays in that mode permanently; and Chihaya is as cunning as Lelouch - except Lelouch actually had a good reason for acting the way he did; Chihaya just seems like he's acting out of pure spite. Enjoyment - 1/10 It might seem like I was just being harsh on this because I'm not the target audience (this is a shoujo anime, and I'm a guy), but the thing is, I'm currently watching - and enjoying - the aforementioned Maid-Sama!, and that's also a Shoujo. So if Maid-Sama! can entertain me, then this has no excuse not to. Overall - 2/10 Unless you somehow get enjoyment out of the pain of watching bad anime (excluding "So bad it's good" anime like Musashi Gun-Doh), stay away from this one at all costs. Alternative recommendations: Maid-Sama!, Ouran High School Host Club, Lovely Complex, Fruits Basket
This is another of those anime's that could have been half decent as a shoujo romance but never quite made it there. In Mitsu x Mitsu Drops case it didn't even come close. It had the formular right with two very cute rich bishies, an annoying but still like-able poor girl, a rich-wing of the school and a bizarre circumstance that forces her into the servitude of said rich boys. It does sound familiar doesn't it? So where did this fail then you ask? Well, every where else to be honest. The characters were not developed at all so it was impossible to understand the motivationsbehind their bizarre actions, the story itself wasn't interesting at all, the background music was plain annoying. It's only redeeming feature was that the characters at least looked cute and I quite enjoyed the aspect of the main male lead who in truth was a bit of a rapist. Which is the only original part of this anime.
first of all the plot of this story is very poor...and for the art of this story, well i cant argue bout that..it was kinda poor... that was because it was made on 2006...as for the character, the guy was not that hot but the girl is cute and pretty....but i have to say that the guy character is a MAJOR PERVERT! and the girl is SO STUPID!....the guy like harass the girl but i just don't get why the girl didn't fight back whenever the guy harass the girl.... instead the girl act so weak... sorry for the spoiler but i just hate the scenewhere the guy just walk into the bathroom while the girl is showering just to tell that she is his honey....WHAT?!...instead of going to the bathroom to tell that news, he could just wait for the girl to finish her bath and meet her when she is all dress up..that is just so sexual harassment!...and the girl is so stupid!...the girl should cover herself up when the guy walk into the bathroom, but instead she just splash some water at him...SO STUPID!...where is your PRIDE girl?!...at the end of the story is horrible!...i did not enjoy the story overall...thats all...if the story had just the kissing and hugging part, i think the story will be awesome instead of a lot of sexual harassment scene going on(sorry if i exaggerate) ....is just my opinion...but enjoy..
Don't watch it. That's the first thing to say. So first let me explain the story. Yuzuru piss off a guy at a hotel who wouldnt pay for his drink, gets thrown in the pool and ends up taking a shower at his place. Kai also goes in the shower and gives her an earring, which means that she is now Kai's Honey. A honey is a person who helps her master graduate by making him go to class and such. Righ off the bat, the Honey Drop Game begins. In this game, all the masters and honeys participate, and the losing team has to give up hishoney. But of course, some other guy wants to make Yuzuru his honey so he will try to convince her to lose at the drop game so that she can become his honey. The OVA is not worth watching, the story is very cliche, sexual harrasment out of nowhere, the guy fights for the girl, but we don't really understand the bond between the two, it's not explained enough. The OVA is too fast, for example, the girl gets thrown in the pool and then is in the shower with the other guy. Transition maybe? In the manga, we actually see them go to his room so that he can pay her the drinks, and offers her to take a shower to apologize. And they also added stuffs in it which don't reallt make sense like a battle between the two guys in an amusement park, and Yuzuru who decided to climb something, fell from 50meters, got caught by Kai. Really? I don't think it works that way in real life. In the manga however, we already root for the character, the sexual stuffs are fun to watch and the story is actually good. So really, bad OVA, especially considering the manga, which i really recommend you reading.
After watching this series, I could only think: "WTF? Why?" To begin with, I would like to say that this isn't my usual cup of tea for an anime. I have a very wide range of animes I'm interested in, from very dark and mature themes like Tokyo Ghoul and Black Butler to cute little shojos like My Bride is a Mermaid and Ouran High School Host Club. Until recently, I didn't really read much manga, spending more time on just animes. After reading a manga called 'Hapi Mari' on accident (story of a girl who marries her boss for debt... surprisingly better than I expected)I decided I should look for more manga that went down that cliche route. While I was exploring my choices, I stumbled upon a post that suggested this two-episode OVA if I was interested in Hapi Mari, so I decided to give it a chance. Bad idea. I'm honestly not sure if I should be laughing or crying right now. First of all, the storyline doesn't make an sense. Perhaps this is because there were only two episodes (hopefully the manga sheds more light on things) but nothing really connects and all the feelings are rushed and nothing is ever properly explained. The motivations of characters have nothing to do with the plot either. The art also annoyed me for some reason. I prefer some of the more polished art styles, with a little bit more realism, like the ones in Deadman Wonderland or Tokyo Ghoul, especially. The exaggerated features in the series really threw me off. First of all, I despise the massive eyes in main character cliche. Her eyes seemed to get bigger and bigger in every shot. In addition to this, towering dudes with laughably massive shoulders just look tacky and a little funny, to be honest. The hair styles were also a bit depressing. While some series (like Assassination Classroom, Black Butler, etc) manage to pull off weird hair colors like blue, green, and pink on characters while not making them look insane, this color scheme only made these characters look even worse. Regardless, being an artist myself, I couldn't bring myself to give this a 1, so I decided to be generous with a 2. The sound was terrible. I watched the subs (so I don't really have a comment on the dub voices) but all the voices were extremely grating. It might have just been the quality of the audio. The opening and closing themes were honestly terrible, and I wasn't exactly sure how anyone every thought this was a good idea. The characters, oh dear. First off, none of the names were even memorable, save for Kei, only because his name is so easy to remember and short. The cast is full of abusers, sexual assaulters, and annoyingly helpless girls. It's terrible. I can't even go on a rant about this cuz I'm wondering what sane person decided to write characters like this. In all honesty, I thought I could tolerate the characters because for example, in Hapi Mari, Hokuto has a very forward personality, much like Kei, so I assumed that perhaps he would be better as it went on. However, Kei only got worse, turning pretty much into a rapist as he blackmails our helpless heroine into pleasing him. Overall, I frankly hated the entire thing and only finished it because a) it was so bad it was frankly entertaining and b) because it was only two episodes and I have OCD about not finishing shows. In the end, I recommend this if: you like big-eyed heroines, you have a master-maid/dom-sub kink, you like the 'old fashioned' broad-shouldered man and tiny delicate female drawing style, you don't care for a plot, you just want rapey scenes, or if you want to kill a few brain cells. I DO NOT recommend this if: you are triggered by anything related to sexual assault, you want to watch something with a plot, you want to watch something that is actually good, you want to save 40 minutes of your life that you will never get back, you hate characters with not drive or motivation, you hate damsels in distress, or if you hate the shojo stereotypes in general. In the end, this was honestly terrible. But in the same way, I enjoy watching or reading terrible thing because then I can write caustic, cynical reviews. All in all, don't watch this if you have minimal time on your hands. If you have time to waste, by all means, go head. That being said, I'm honestly wondering if the manga was as bad as the show, so I might give the manga a try (and possibly write a bad review) if I ever had excess time. Have a nice day everyone!
as most of the other reviews tell you you, JUST DON'T WATCH IT. i stupidly ignored the warnings and in the first 5secs. I had a mental breakdown (not really) about how bad it was. maybe it could be better if it was more drawn out, but it still is a really bad story line. I mean the guy is raping her, and treating her like crap; but then she starts to love him...?? i beg you, don't even waste your time :[
Normally I wouldn't choose to watch OVAs because I like things that display the whole series however my curiosity got the best of me. I read the manga, granted it has been a bit, so watching the OVA sometime after left me feeling a little biased but at the same time critical. [Story] The story was tangible and there were some differences... in the beginning it felt a little "choppy" to me like someone spliced and diced some of the parts before putting it together. Again, that was like the first 5 minutes of the first OVA. The further into the OVA it got and then movingto the second one the better it got. They did a great job with the OVA in my opinion and kept to the story displaying as much as they could. After seeing it I felt the desire to re-read the manga series all over again. [Characters] It was refreshing to see something different than I typically see. Most series I've watched it takes a while for anything to go on really between the characters but this one was practically instant. Also, I love how watching them made me recall other parts of the manga series. They did a great job. [Final Note] Those who have seen this and enjoyed it like I did I highly recommend reading the whole manga series to see the rest that transpires between the characters. There is a whole lot more to it and believe me that it's well worth it.
After I read the reviews for this anime (effectively agreeing, what crap this show was), I couldn't resist watching this myself, and I'm so glad I did. XD If I would have to rate this seriously: 2/10 But I just can't ignore how much I loved this overdone 'crap' so: 6/10 First of all let me say, if you don't want your eyes and ears to bleed while watching this, I'd suggest you to stop taking 'Mitsu x Mitsu Drops' serious (although the show takes itself quite serious). The best thing would be to turn off the function of your brain that's asking, BUT WHY...?. I watched thisthinking of it as a comedy show and that way was having a BLAST! There were so many unreasonable dramatic scenes that became unintentionally funny, because of the outrageous ridiculousness...I simply couldn't control myself from laughing anymore. At some point I was thinking maybe, just maybe there is brilliant mastermind behind this, yes this must be a parody of some kind, but no, they're serious till the end! Worst storyline ever? - Possibly. I'm not even going to put in the effort trying to explain what the fu## this show was about (because most of it doesn't make any sense whatsoever). It's all over the place with no goal, no introductions, no emotion. Forget the dialogs, forget about the sexual harassment, forget common sense damn it! Were really all characters awful? - Yes indeed (especially the main character, baka honey). Disgraceful portrayal of a woman. Sound/Art? - Although the characters were good looking, bad. So why on earth did I enjoy this so damn much?! It's simple, I love to laugh! Even if that wasn't what the writers wanted (I don't know what the hell they wanted). Of course a lot of people are totally pissed of by this nonsense (understandably), but to me... man I was really having a good time. One question remains though...What idiot/genius approved of this and financed it?
Nk-the-epic's Not-so-epic Reviews --> Review 2: The I-Should-Not-Have Watched-This-Not-Very-Honey-Related Show ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When I was younger, I used to make peanut butter and honey sandwiches as a snack when I got home from school. It was sweet and tasty, and I felt energized enough to finish my homework. Needless to say, I am thoroughly displeased that this show, Honey x Honey Drops, included the word "honey", effectively soiling my memories of those tasty honey sandwiches for the rest of my life. I mean seriously, let's take a closer look at this bullshit. Story --> 1/10 The story was absolutely horrid. A poor, innocent girl ends up being the slave ofsome rich boy and it is institutionally acceptable, apparently. Gee, kinda sounds like porn right? There's a reason this was adapted into OVAs and not a full-fledged show! So anyways, this poor girl gets thrown around by two rich boys until she "falls in love" with the main one. Hmmph. Sounds more like Stockholm Syndrome: The Anime, complete with lots of sexual harassment! Character --> 3/10 I'll give a slightly higher score for the character because although both boys in this are sexual abusers and the MC is weak and incompetent, at least the MC does one badass thing on the second episode. I ain't spoiling. But this one badass thing does not account for how much of an idiot she is, unfortunately. Sigh. Art and Sound --> Both 5/10 These are average. I'm not going to dock points off for art that looks like an average Shoujo anime and sound that is, well, perfectly, spectacularly mediocre. Overall Enjoyment --> 1/10 I know that I will regret watching this show so much. I will cringe every single time I look at my anime list. The next time I attempt to have a spoonful of honey or a tasty honey peanut butter sandwich, I will end up thinking of a bunch of rich, sexually abusive assholes. So thanks, Mitsu x Mitsu Drops, for an absolutely fantastic experience.
I started this show hoping to find a cute romance anime. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The show is about a girl who got into a school because of a guy and this same guy sexually harasses and assaults her numerous times through the show. To me, this isn’t acceptable or romantic in the least. The first couple minutes feature the main girl showering (fully showing nudity) and then the main guy comes in the shower (even through she screams at him to stay away), wall slams her, and touches her. DISGUSTING. I would recommend to stay away from this vulgar show thatromanticizes sexual abuse.
