At Himaraya Third Technical School, five bespectacled members of the Glasses club are crazy about eyewear. Their leader, Akira Souma, founded the club to develop the X-ray glasses of his dreams, but their research has been slow in between getting into quirky escapades and fighting off student body president William Satou's attempts to further cut their tight club funding. With unbounded youthful passion, these friends set their minds on making their project a resounding success. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Now, allow me to explain Meganebu! in a mildly-large nutshell: an under-budgeted club with an intense adoration for glasses try to complete their project of making X-Ray Glasses, all the while intensifying the love for glasses and getting the unfair School Council to boost their budget in order to make their project a success. Sounds short and simple, right? *BZZZT* Wrong! Meganebu! is a bit more than that. This twelve-episode joyride of an anime fuses five boys' love for glasses with a great amount of comedy, shenanigans, conflicts, X-Ray Glasses failures (Usually ending with explosions) and overall hilarity. I'm gonna go more in-depth here, so sityour butts down, grab a snack, drink, or what have you, and get ready to read the most amateurish first review of my life. STORY - 7/10 The story of Meganebu! is actually fairly basic, like I mentioned earlier. The five members of the Glasses Club all want to complete their X-Ray Glasses to present to Hima high and boost their club budget (and peep on pretty girls), but with each time they make them, comes the bitter taste of failure. Even worse so, the Hima Student Council is pulling shady tactics to make sure the members of the Glasses Club disbands by crushing their passion for glasses. Along the way we encounter loads of laughs, a fair amount of conflict, and general enjoyment as we watch, as well as sympathy from glasses-wearers like me as we watch the boys discuss the things you ought to do to keep your glasses in perfect shape. ART - 9/10 I was astounded by the lush art and vivid imagery that Meganebu! contained. It had a very nice fusion of colours that meshed together beautifully. Given that I'm a junkie for art like this, it kinda wow'd me to see how lush and vibrant the colouring, lighting, and shading for both characters and environments were to make the art as greatly detailed as it is. (I'm mildly reminded of the way Kyoto Animations designed the water in Free!, so that's also a bonus!) SOUND - 8/10 Given that director Soubi Yamamoto incorporated more explosions in this anime than any Michael Bay film, of course the sound effects have to be of a great quality; otherwise, it'd just be cheesy poofs of colour. Not to mention Mucc's excellent opening song and Tomohisa Sako's gloriously catchy ending theme tipped the scales in positive favour for the anime. The background music is also a great thing to listen to as you watch, as it can fit the situations fairly well, whether they're a moment of suspense, action, or just straight-up shits and giggles. CHARACTER - 7/10 The main cast of Meganebu! consists of five boys in the Glasses Club (After all, the anime's title does translate to Glasses Club): Akira Souma, the eccentric president leader with an especially deep admiration for glasses; Yukiya Minabe, the stoic intellectual member of the club and Akira's childhood friend; Takumi Hachimine, the rather airheaded member who loves cream puffs almost as much as glasses; Mitsuki Kamatani, who was introduced to the world of glasses by Akira himself, so he's developed a deep admiration for Akira; and last but not least, Hayato Kimata: the provisional member of the club due to (the creators' running joke of) him wearing fake glasses. With a neat little amount of side characters such as the two more reoccurring teachers Shirogane and Kyousuke, the Hima Council that everyone can't help but get a kick out of despite their antagonistic roles, and even a lunch lady who would later teach them the vital value of proper nutrition and eating habits, this sets up the stages for these twelve episodes very well, providing obstacles and ways to overcome them. What's also nice is how the unimportant characters that we don't need to learn about are two-dimensional white figurines dressed in whatever the situations and settings are; yet we still hear them speaking and doing actions, which indicates that they aren't just animate props, but humans with their own lives to go about and own stuff to do. ENJOYMENT - 7/10 At first, I was a bit skeptical to watch this, not because of how it looks or its synopsis, but because of the animes I already had on my plate at the time. However, I made time, and I gotta say, I enjoyed starting up this anime. This was a fun anime to watch, and I'm glad I got the chance to watch it. OVERALL - 8/10 If simple math didn't give away the final score, I don't know why you're reading this in the first place.... I kid, I kid. Moving on. So yeah, the story, the art, the sound, the characters, and my amusement overall brought the calculations to a 7.6/10 (or 8, if you're lazy and like rounding). This show deserves this score for good reasons. It's not the best, but it's a damn sight more enjoyable than a certain amount out there right now.
NO MEGANE, NO LIFE. Sounds cheesy, but in this anime, it's awesome, so a very good anime has just ended, though the megane theme was very corny, I have to hand to Studio Deen for going around such cornyness. This was probably one of the most unique anime I've ever watched, ok time to present my ratings for each of this anime's category. Good 7. Story- Basically it has very simple theme, that has been exaggerated, however it's comedy genre without the sexual innuendo was very good. Fair 6. Art- I wish the guys would have wore their school's uniform, beside it kinda looks good on them, instead wearingclothes whose fashion sense was too dorky to say the least. Very good 8. Sound, character, enjoyment and overall - Ok for the sound I have no qualms about the VA who did the character's voices, but I do like both the opening and closing theme, frankly both theme are pretty much a good fit for this anime. Character, well, they are very funny but I can't get over the guys discriminating Hayato, beside they did accept him into their club after all, btw, there are some senarios where I do find Souma and Mitsuki annoying, but that can be swept aside as long as their funny. But, I there is something in me that make me hate Takuma, let's face he's more like added baggage, co'z I kinda don't like his laziness and clumsyness, in fact Hayato was more of a asset than a liability, oh well the anime is over so there is no point in it anymore. The enjoyment part was pretty much the boy's antics, ok at first I thought that there gonna be some intense yaoi thing that gonna happen, then again it was only minimal, so overall this anime is very good, the end. Megane!
Overall: 9 Story: 7 It's a very simple story, and amazing all the more because of it. But, being a simple story, it is difficult to keep it interesting. There were a few boring moments... Yet, it's been a very heart-warming, funny anime to watch. I hope we'll get a second season, with events that get deeper into the troubles and personalities of the characters, because that is what I felt was missing the most. But with a little of that sense of lightness that permeates this first season. It touches everything, but remains superficial. It's this anime's virtue, but also its vice...Art: 10 I simply loved it. Anatomy, colours, places... It's indeed a colorful anime, and that's the perfect match for its simple slice of life story. Sound: 10 The average story gets catchy and interesting with the colour and also the soundtrack. The Op and Ed are perfect, and the upbeat tracks remind you that life doesn't have to be made of outstanding, great events only, to be full and/or funny and worth living. There's fun and passion and liveliness even in the smallest (and at times stupidest) things. Character: 8 Argh, this part gets me a little mad. I loved the charas, but we could get so much more from them!! Just like the story... Again, I hope for a second season to see more of each personality. They have the potential. We've seen a small glimpse of each. Yet, a small glimpse is not exactly enough when it comes to slice of life anime... Enjoyment: 9 This anime has faults, but overall it was a pleasure to watch it. I would recommend it to anyone, really. Who doesn't laugh to a group of youngsters acting moronic, really? The fact they try being serious about being fools is even greater fun for the watchers. Overall: 9 I'm a passionate fan of shounen and slice of life series, and this anime has proven to be different from others. I personally really, really liked it, so the vote's 9 for me. If I were less passionate about it, I'd say 8. And let's hope for a second season. This show could rock! Ganbatte!
Meganebu! is a very fun loving and optimistic anime. It could be seen as inspirational, i personally found this anime inspirational by the theme of 'No matter what life throws at you, keep going, for you.' This silly, comical anime surprised me with was how some episodes were very touching, it made me tear up. What I liked about this anime was the art. Very colorful and happy. The sound was okay, sometimes i felt the music didn't match. Character, i loved the characters. I loved how the main character was very passionate for the love of glasses. I loved how they all stucktogether, their friendship was strong. I enjoyed this anime very much. 9/10

This is my first time writing a review here XD Well this anime is good( 7 ) i wanted to give very good ( 8 ) but lack of little push at the end .... ( probably my expectation is too high ) But overall it's a good anime. I started to watch this because i hope this anime will be like " Daily lives of high school boys " XD so i did expect quite much since this is a " school " anime where its very common . This anime is about a high school club name " meganebu " known as "glasses club " consist of people who loves glasses till some point . *** there's something i need to say from the moment i watch this anime *** The Graphic is HORRIBLE its looks very fake unlike normal anime ... This is one of the reason i gave 7 instead of 8 .
I don't understand the lack of popularity for this show. Yes, there is no real story, and if this is what you are looking for, you will be disapointed. But if you just want to watch a funny show with great artwork and nice characters, you picked the right one! Story: As I said, nothing outstanding here. It doesn't bother me because I understand this is not the most important thing in this anime, but I was a bit disapointed that nothing happened. Did they or will they ever finish the X-Ray glasses?! Characters: The characters in this show are simply great! This is a slice oflife type of anime, which allows a lot of focus on the characters and it was well handled. Most of them get at least some development and some of them (about 2-3) get full development. They are a lso really funny and unique. Art: This was my favourite part. It is bright, colourful, fresh and really nice to watch. The ending animation was especially nice. Sound: The voice acting is solid and the music is great, I felt like it fitted really well with the show and I enjoyed most of the songs. Overall: I reallt enjoyed this show. It made me laugh most of the time, but also made me gow ''awww'' at other times and even made me sad. The only bad side to it for me is that sometimes I find there is too much focus on side characters when they could try to create a sold story instead. I would recommand it to anyone who wants to laugh their asses off, because this is what happened to me in almot every episode! Also, there are some yaoi hints in there if you like that genre.
