The story revolves around Tomoya Mizuhara, a 13-year-old boy who suddenly gains a big sister when his father remarries. 17-year-old Ichika is a little strange, and her affection for Tomoya is rather overwhelming, if not scary. On top of things, Ichika's friend Ruri is the ultimate sadist. Then there is Ichika's big-breasted quarter-Japanese friend Marina. (Source: ANN)

Ever finished something and thought "wait... what did I just watch again?" . Well that's precisely the feeling this title convey. Story: 1/10 No real story to speak of. The 3 min runtime follows along the same vein of: Ichika obsesses over Tomoya, Tomoya is slightly weirded out, but he grows to like her ... rinse and repeat. I kid you not, that's it.. nothing more, nothing less. It's something that leaves no impact, as it is quickly forgotten moments after completion. Art: 2/10 No attention to detail. Everything feels like it was just copied and pasted from the countless of other generic school romps. Thecharacter design also lack originality. No sense of depth, texture, cinematics or anything that makes a decent anime experience. Sound: 2/10 There's virtually none to speak of. Just your generic "fluffy" sounds. The voice actors were fine, none leaving an impact however. Character: 2/10 They're all archetypes. With that being said you've seen this one note cast countless of times. Tomoya: the timid guy Ichika: obsessive stalker girl Kouki: the "i'm to good for you" guy and the rest follow this pattern, either existing for the sole purpose of being a comedic gag or just filing in a archetypal role. Enjoyment: 2/10 It's hard to enjoy something that you forget within the span of time it took to finish write this review. If you've seen enough of these slice of life/school setting anime then this won't bring anything new to the table. Overall: 2/10 I can't say this is a waste of time seeing that it's only slightly longer than your standard 25min episode runtime. If you have nothing else to do and have 30mins to kill then by all means knock this one out.
For those wanting a quickie review I'll Keep this short and sweat for you guys. If you are wanting a nicely styled, funny Anime, with a hilarious bro-con Sister, that you can blast through really quick while enjoying regular laughs then Onee-Chan ga Kita is perfect for you. For those wanting a bit more in depth, here you go:- Story: 7 Although i'm not a huge fan of incestuous relationships, this anime does it right by not forcing it in your face. It's kept simple and sweet. It reminded me of a short, wackier, yet less perverted version of Kiss X Sis. Art: 8 The art style is different fromyour conventional anime's, but still enjoyable none the less. Another reviewer mentioned it suits the anime well, and i have to agree, that difference in style only highlights how strange Mizuhara is (in a good way) Sound: 7 Nothing spectacular, but was enjoyable and fitted nicely with the anime Character: 10 Although all the characters have their own positive and negative aspects, Mizuhara MAKES this anime, she is a riot, she never failed to make me smile and laugh. She gives this anime it's feel. She alone makes this anime a 10/10 for characters. Overall: 9/10 I came into this anime not expecting much due to the 3 minute episode length. But after blasting through all episodes in 1 sitting i was left yearning for more. It made me laugh on a regular basis without being just another stupid anime with some laughs. It still had some lovely moments of that Sisterly love. As i mentioned at the start i recommend this anime to anyone who wants a quick light hearted funny anime. And i especially recommend it to anyone who was a fan of Kiss X Sis.
Honestly, this anime was pretty funny. This isn't the type of anime that's serious, and all that. But if you're looking for an anime that's funny and short, and crazy i'd definitely reccomend this anime to you. If you're looking for a more serious anime, i'd definitely not reccomend you this one. But you should definitely check this anime out. Story: 4/10 Yes, despite the 3 minute episodes and only having 12 episodes, the story actually somewhat stays on track, it's not too good, but it's pretty funny. Art: 5/10 It's a bit weird, but unique and enjoyable. Sound: 7/10 The opening and ending was cute, nothing wrong about it.Character: 6/10 Yes, despite the episode length it actually did he some character development. Enjoyment: 5 Overall: 6, if I could i'd probably put it as a 6.5 :) ALERT: If you're planning on watching this anime and see my score as a 6, don't stop planning. Because a 6 for me is actually pretty good.
Onee chan ga kita is a silly and bright anime! It made me laugh at some points! Here is my simple and kinda short review: -STORY: 7 The story is veryyyy simple, it's about a sister who is obssesed to her brother. I liked the story, it's not THAT complex. But it's overall enjoyable to this kind of anime. -ART: 8 The art is actually very clean and fresh, not A "BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE!" but somewhat cute. -SOUND: 6Meh, the sounds aren't the most important part of the anime. They are fair too me. Not good but not bad. -CHARACTER: 7 The characters are developed well... but not very well. The protagonist seems a little...normal and/or clíche? Or it's just me, but I have nothing to complain with the others. -ENJOYMENT: 9 I had sooo much fun with this anime! I laughed very much! The anime is very funny, if you have a sense of humor like me. And sometimes, I also feel bad for Tomoya because of his mother loss...Oh well... -OVERALL: 8 Onee chan ga kita it's a fun, short, simple and fresh anime with a good story, cute art, meh sounds, good character devlopment and could take a big laugh out of you, I will rate it as 8/10!
Story: There is none. It's episodic nonsense that has been observed in virtually all other slice-of-life anime with nothing different other than the asinine tropes each character represents. The worst part is each trope is completely unrelatable and the story could be considered low-key harem except its just one girl being stupid and dumb. A total waste of time. Art: Lazy, but clean. I wasn't bothered by it, it never pulled me out, and proportions remained constant throughout the run-time, but it's still lackluster and not all that interesting to watch. Nothing spectacular or demanding of an animation team took place, and everything is slow motions with littleto no animating beyond a mouth. However, as this is a SoL, I'm not asking for much beyond realistic motions and decent facial expressions. The only reason I'm dropping to a 4/10 instead of a 5/10 in this regard is because the facial expressions are copy/paste and aren't anything of interest. Backgrounds, again, are examples of an animation team going nuts with ctrl-c/ctrl-v, so nothing is really worthwhile here. Sound: Most VA work nowadays is of a decent standard. Nothing was all that bothersome here, and at one point I actually thought it was pretty good. That said, there isn't much taking place, so this rating isn't going to be all that good. Music was okay, but because it's virtually non-existent. Character: There was one instance in which a character had some form of characterization outside of their trope. Beyond that, nothing. That was the only saving grace, earning this a 2/10 instead of a 1/10. Enjoyment: I was pretty bored, but I was pretty bored when I opened up MAL to stream this show. If that means anything, it means I have little-to-no problem idly wasting my time. I'm glad this show wasn't overly offensive, just stupid. Incestuous relationships are only of interest to those who don't have siblings and enjoy aligning themselves with degeneracy, so this sort of show wasn't really my thing, and I'd even argue it shouldn't be anyone's thing, but I appreciated that this show was relatively PG and never did anything fanservicy. TLDR: Cheap generic fun. An "attractive" older stepsister, Ichika, doting over her new stepbrother, Tomoya. No, it's not a hentai but it's Japanese and there is a dozen of these amusing 3-minute anime series with the same premise. I guess this is a popular trope. Basically, it is generic. The music, art, and animation quality are pretty standard. But it's not horrible and I don't get a creepy incestuous vibe. That might be the one thing that set it apart in that Ichika just wants to be a loving big sister. This almost gives "Oneechan ga Kita" a bit of wholesomeness; all be it in avery strange way. As without that little bit of context this show would quickly degenerate into something less "appropriate" for general consumption. You've spent more time watching a single episode of a bad anime, so why not to give this show a chance as this entire series is about 20 minutes.
This is not good, there’s no emotional depth, the characters are bland, there’s no plot, however there are some funny moments. The characters are bland and are not developed at all. Ichika is obsessed with her step brother Tomoya, to the point it’s really annoying and makes her completely unrelatable and unlikeable. Like when she stalks Tomoya to school, or when he’s shopping. Tomoya is a typical high school student whose character is never developed in any way. And all the side characters are easily forgettable. The animation and music quality is very average. The animation isn't very detailed or smooth, the music mostly consists of avery basic electronic melody. Although this is a funny series at times. There were many humorous moments when Ichika is with Tomoya, like embarrassing him when she goes to his school just to give him some food. Although the later episodes are less funny as Ichika is featured less. A special mention to the last episode which explains why Ichika is obsessed with Tomoya, this is shown rather well and is the only ‘serious’ episode in the series. There’s no plot, major themes, or any emotional depth at all. The whole series consists of joke after joke, which is very entertaining at first but gets a bit boring by the end.
This show was kind of disappointing. Story: Considering that each episode is 3 minutes I had very little expectation for story. Even with the bar set really low it still manages to be bad. My guess is the show wants to be funny but also touch on some deeper themes. It gets about halfway with both. For the most part it isn’t funny (I can only remember laughing at one part). I get that humor is subjective but even with that in mind there aren’t enough jokes anyway. The plot also tries to be deep and the episode length really kills any attempt at this.It also focuses on secondary characters and develops them more than the main characters. In fairness, this show is going to have more episodes so I won’t blame it for not having an ending. The last problem with the story is the sibling complex in many of the characters. It isn’t overt but still unnecessary and really creepy. I don’t usually say much about animation or sound but I need to for this anime. The voice acting isn’t great but is tolerable. The main problem I have is with the drawing of the main character’s sister. While all of the other characters look normal and are animated pretty well, she is neither. This makes her contrast with the other characters and makes it hard to engage with the story since her expression never changes. Honestly, she reminds me of some old wooden puppet from a horror movie. Overall, this wasn’t very good but if you do decide to watch it it only takes 30 minutes.
Story(4/10): There's is nothing much of a story, just step-siblings and their friends with their everyday lives Art(4/10): Its decent to be honest considering this is an 3min per ep anime Characters(7/10): Most of the characters are siblings pairs, one of each of the pair having sister/brother complex, but at a lesser extent. Sound(5/10):There arent much of background themes in this anime. The opening is just about 30 seconds long too. Its an almost all-female cast anime, but that doesn't take anything away from enjoying it. Overall(8/10): Although it just took 40 mins to complete this anime,i really enjoyed it and recommend this if you want to lighten up your mood.
*SPOILER FREE* Let me keep this review short and simple, just like the show. Let's begin: Story: 2/10 The plot of Oneechan ga Kita follows the life of the young Tomoya, and his father's re-marriage. He has now gained an older sister, who is completely obsessed with our protagonist, in a way that she actually follows him wherever he goes, and has photos of Tomoya all over her room. The plot can sound funny at first, but its lack of development makes it boring and cliche. The events that Tomoya follows are way to boring and irrelevant to even try to get into, and this show's weird senseof humour is way too far-fetched, not to say that the jokes get really repetitive past episode 4. Art: 7/10 This is one of the few features I actually don't dislike about this show. The artstyle is really cute, and its animation is well implemented as well. It's not the best, but positive overall. Sound: 5/10 The OST is nothing of great relevance in the show, but it's not bad either. Basically, it consists of high-pitched, short songs and cute sound efects that help with the setting. Not good, not bad, plainly average. Character: 2/10 The main two problems this anime has with its caracterization are: its mediocre and cliche protagonists, and its annoying secondary characters. Little to no characters are actually likeable, which makes laughing or even smiling almost impossible to happen in the first place. Enjoyment: 3/10 Oneechan ga Kita is sometimes able to make you smile, but it's comedy and character development just makes the show really unlikeable and not entertaining at all. Overall: 4/10 If I could briefly describe this show to anyone, I would probably say Oneechan ga Kita is a mediocre and forgettable show. However, I can't say it's an utter waste of time, mainly because it is just half an hour long, and with that short of a duration, you can't really expect it to be great. Overall, if you want to watch a short, kind of cute, and weird "comedy" anime, Oneechan ga Kita is not the worst option out there.
Now the Wapanese animu industry knows it's in trouble when its best works are the ones that go for 3 minutes. That's truly horrible. And the other think about it is that "Here Comes My Sis-In-Law" had the elbow room to become just as worse. Like, "Dog & Scissors" worse. But it didn't. It was a bright, colorful, feel-good story about a little boy who ends up becoming "the comedy routine's straight man" to his new sister; one who is over-obsessed and triangle-mouthed. The collision between the worlds of Tomoya and Ichika didn't become as "lulz for otaku" destructive as the show may want to; but it'sa good show to watch regardless.
Not an amazing show by any stretch of the imagination, but it's enjoyable for what it's worth. Story: 3 What story? She likes him, he doesn't like her. Story progresses from there. The siscon is real with the guys. Here is your warning. Art: 5 Nothing special. It works. Sometimes the art is beautiful, but other times it devolves into some really awkward frames. Sound: 6 Again, nothing special. The animation has some personality to it which I like, but it isn't something that I haven't seen before.Character: 7 Surprising amount of character for a 3 minute per episode show. Nothing ground breaking, but the characters are nice and work well together. Enjoyment: 7 I liked it for what it was worth. It did not set out to be amazing and it works to a certain degree. I found myself laughing quite a bit. Overall: 4 It's a cute little show. Lots of personality in each episode. I enjoyed the show, but it is nothing special.
Oneechan ga Kita (2014) The show itself is absolutely hilarious. That said it is not for everyone since it is very short and to the point. You are literally thrown into the deep end of a family relationship that just goes from 0-60 in a time that puts a supercar to shame. The artwork is an average standard. The sister's mouth for me was really poor but I am guessing it was done like that for a reason. It did work in its own way but also kind of felt a bit crappy. The show has not aged very well which is a shame considering theshows that are similar in age or older that have. The sound consists of a very short OP literally seconds and an ED that is alright. Sound generally for its age is well done. Characters come with the first to mention... a side character Ruri. She is the winner of this shows waifu war and makes for a great character. I was thinking of seeing a few episodes from her point of view but then she just playfights and that could be hard to fill even in short episodes. The stepsister Ichika is an absolute wack job. At the same time she would make for a pretty great sister in real life and would make life at least more interesting. Tomoya the brother goes through a lot but he does see the good in her so it is fine. Fujisaki-san is a sadist who owns popularity with guys unless confronted by older girls to her dismay. She is interesting since it is a cover for her past and true self. Other girls dislike her due to jealously and it shows that it affects her. Marina is worth a mention since from episode 3 she makes for a hilarious gag character. With the others, we have a best friend who loves girls, a siscon and so on. Nothing too much needing to be mentioned. One thing however I do note is that some of the side characters that have literally a line of speech are pretty involved too. Overall, especially from episode 3, the show is absolutely hilarious. It is a hidden gem in its own right and makes for a great watch. 8/10.
Oneechan ga Kita is an interesting little anime, and it certainly pulls above its weight simply by right of just how hard it tries. I was consistently caught off-guard by sudden jumps in animation quality, or the comedic timing of some scenes. That doesn't change the fact that it's still a very brief and broadly average experience, but there's enough here for me to put it a step above other shows in a similar category. Beginning with the story, there really isn't that much of one. Ichika and Tomoya find themselves brought together by their parents marrying each other, andIchika is obsessed with him from the start, leading to shenanigans. Despite the premise being by its nature a little incest-y, it's not like its Oreimo or anything, and Ichika's obsession never borders on the sexual, seeming to fixate on him as an object of cuteness. Surprisingly, it is the art that is this show's strongest aspect. Throughout it meets the standard of quality for modern anime, but there are bursts of surprising detail and high-quality animation. This is really exhibited in how well this show pulls off physical comedy. Maybe this just stands out because each episode is only three minutes, but regardless I remain impressed. The sound is good, with lively voice work and an upbeat OST. The characters are fun and simple with even a little bit of depth to them. My favorites among the cast are the main duo, simply because they get the most development, if you could call it that. Overall, Oneechan ga Kita is one of those vanishingly short anime which can easily go overlooked. It's not a masterpiece or anything, but if you find yourself stumbling upon this anime and you have a half hour or so to kill, give it a shot! There are better anime, but there are also worse ways to spend 30 minutes.
This anime was a very short anime, which made it more tolerable to watch. Nonetheless, this anime was a waste of my 40 minutes of time. The animation was horrendous, the story was ok, the characters were weird and annoying, and it was just not good. If you like it, fine, but I did not like this anime. The main female character, MC's sister, was so annoying, and when the show tried to be funny, it just became annoying. I would not recommend this anime to you unless you like watching an older sister obsess over her brother for an hour straight over trash animationthat looks like it got copy-pasted from Mario.
