In the late Edo period, Japan had experienced an unprecedented crisis by Kurofune (Black Ships), the ships from foreign countries. But a giant robot called Onigami, which has existed since ancient time, dispelled the Kurofune ships and the exclusion of foreigners was accomplished. The story begins in Japan where Meiji restoration in 1868 didn't happen. The tagline says, "I can be the greatest man in the world, because I am a virgin!!" (Source: Crunchyroll)

It's hard to make an overall determination on a series this uneven. The character designs are great, and the overall art is good. But the animation really kinda sucks. It has interesting characters and solid voice acting. Unfortunately, the story is unfocused and has some long, boring stretches followed by a wet fart of an ending. It's a fantasy ecchi harem series set in a public bathhouse! But there's no real nudity. Watching Dai Shogun is like watching someone hit 30 HRs in a season and finish below the Mendoza line. Mediocre in total, and that makes the highpoints so much more painful.
...........................ok, so another mecha anime has just ended...............and I don't have much to say about this rather chaotic anime thing that combines with mecha, action, historical, harem and with some ecchi element, in fact I see this anime as something that desecrates the Tokugawa clan and its retainers, if I were one of the descendants of the Tokugawa or any of its retainers, I'd sure be suing studio J.C Staff and A.C.G.T for such embarrassment to the clan, so no more BS and here are my ratings for this anime: Story and Character: Poor 3. The story plot was chaotic, misleading and above all onewould more focus on those bodacious babes like Kiriko, Chiharu, Hokoin, Asai, the 3 bitches (Soji, Kondou and Toshizu), and Maika than anything else. Keiichiro was more of a double standard where at one point he is this troublesome toughguy who can't seem to get himself to banged a girl and at the same time he is a hero who wants to protect the people around his area.Just like the guy the other characters were also the same where they have roles were also a double standard i.e. there s a hot Iga ninja who deoesn't seem to have the ability to save herself let alone put up a good fight, there is a foxxy flat-chested ex-courtesan who at the last episode was unable to do her worst and a cross-dress hot babe who was suppose to be good with the katana but not good enough, then again her panty shot did make up for her short comings. Frankly only the antagonist were the only ones whom were right for their roles. Art and enjoyment: Outstanding 10 Well just like the guys who were a sucker for them girls' bodaciousness , I too fell for it. Sound: Mediocre 5. I have nothing to say. Overall: Pathetic 1. Basically it desecrates the Tokugawa clan.
This anime caught my attention first via its video game based particularly its design art. I was surprise and quite dissapointed to find out that its was really a video game (hoping for a anime adaptation in the future.) And that hoping became a reality when it was announce that an anime based on the popular video game will come in 2014.... well a huge anticipating smile on my face. This anime is a mixed of (a bit) history, fictional story lines on robots in ancient Japan. Romantic encounters, and some legendary mystical creatures in Japanese folklore. Story - 8 interesting, making you think on what's next......going to happen. When other nations tend to invade Japan, and ninja clans unite to save thier homeland. And Legendary mechas Origami are used to defend against enemy forces within and foriegn. Within, where some corrupt Japanese group tend to take over Japan in some what selfish intentions. Character - 10 outstanding design, especially mechas (Well, Susanoo is a bit boring to look at until it transforms into 3 different ver. based on who female leads partner with the main pilot). A male lead seems to be a playboy who does not know who he is until his Granny who adopted him told him about his past and he is destined to lead Japan to victory. Remains a virgin in order to operate Susanoo (quite familiar to hentai express in a way although hentai express requires sexual acts to operate.). Female leads are well greatly, drawn. Although there are some scenes with the annoying bright light to cover up sensitive part of the female body, but it does not disrupts the audience that much in enjoying this wonderful anime. And there are butt shots too. The mechas are well, designed. Great effects. But needs a bit more exposure on transformation (Susanoo) as it shown a bright light literally engulfing the entire robot until it magically transform into like a (1 of 3 transformation mode) Mecha-Godzilla mode. Sound - great. simply great. Overall, a must watch if.... you are historically inclined you simply like watching mechas go at it you like ecchi scenes...... especially semi-hentai scenes you like watching a looser playboy rise up to gain respect and earn his right to be called a man and a sidekick who seems dumb but a very friend who will risk everything for his friend/master. you like harem animes....... you like sort of love triangle (ep. 7), where another hero appears to steal the girl of our hero, in this anime's case, a childhood friend/former lover appears to battle it out on who wins the girl.
An original project directed by Takashi Watanabe, who directed things like ... Ikkitousen 2003, the Freezing anime, Slayers series, Boogiepop Phantom, etc. He has also worked as a key animator or with the Storyboard in other studio series and other external projects. And finally it was animated by J.C.Staff and A.C.G.T. It is an ecchi with elements of wicks and ninjas making a combination half rare and that went unnoticed in the season in which it came out. And as a curiosity, some time after the completion of this project, he had planned to launch a reboot as a CGI animation film, however he didnot meet the goal of funds required in Kickstarter in 2016, so the project was frozen indefinitely. And why do I talk about this anime, well ... I found this anime looking for Soft-Hentai's with interesting material to review, and to my surprise it did not even come to that. The story I care about three peanuts obviously, what came to fuck me most is that the animation in this series was almost nonexistent. Literally, you see any extended video or gif and the movement is very limited, the sequences with few frames predominate, the characters barely move (although this partly helps the ecchi to be decently drawn), static planes and very rough action . With all these things on the table what do we have left? It is not explicit enough to entertain pajeros (censorship is present, even if it is not so much), and for conventional spectators it will result in a very big boredom. Horrible and forgettable anime ecchi. The only useful thing I saw was to get some interesting fan service images, little more.
Fuuun Ishin Dai Shogun starts off with an unoriginal, but still decent premise. While the alternate history with mecha has been done before, the idea can still be made to work. This does not. Dai Shogun has a great start point, main protagonist Keiichiro is the long lost next Tokugawa lord and has to remain a virgin to pilot a robot that can save Japan from the shinsangumi... I think. The story has so many plot points and does such a poor job introducing them that I can barely remember them. It really doesn't help that almost all of the series is spent on hijinks,so you lose track of what little competent story that there is. Several characters enter and exit with little explanation as to their goals and motivations, the characters who stick around seem to change their motivations extremely quickly with no prompting, and I don't think we ever really learn what the main villain's name and motivation are. Instead, most of the time is dedicated to fanservice that isn't very good because the animation sucks. The mecha, Susanowo, isn't used more than five times over the series, and its coolest function, changing form and abilities based on which girl is his copilot in the robot, is only used once for each girl. It's just disappointing. The real shame comes from the voice actors and designers. The mecha look really cool and the characters unique and cool. Heck, lead female Kiriko wears little archeologist glasses in civilian clothes, which I have never seen in any other anime. The voice acting is topnotch, ruined mainly by the fact that the characters have nothing interesting to say. Keiichiro is voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara, the voice of Simon from Guerren Lagaan and Natsu from Fairy Tail, and he does fine as the character. The best character and voice is Yukari Tamura as Chihiro, the fox demon girl who is in crazy love with Keichiro. Tamura makes Chihiro cute, loveable, and fun. Sadly, not even she can save this boring, confusing, and just uninteresting series, if you want historic boobs, go watch something else.
