Set on the planet Yietta, whose colonists make their living by exploiting the planet's unique liquid-gas oceans, Plastic Little begins as the Yietans are finally about to pay off their debts to the Galactic Federation. Unfortunately, there are those who would rather not let Yietta slip through their fingers... Enter Tita, 17 year old captain of the Cha Cha Maru. Together with her crew, Tita specializes in capturing Yietta's exotic life forms for intergalactic pet shops, but through plain bad luck she finds herself, instead, at the core of a sinister plot to take over Yietta! By rescuing 16 year old Elysse from the very clutches of the military, Tita puts the lives of both herself and her crew in mortal peril... but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do! As the plotters mobilize their forces in a desperate bid to retrieve Elysse, whom they believe possesses a vital computer code, Tita must play a dangerous game of tag with an entire army of professional killers! It's Cat and Mouse on a planetwide scale, with one crucial difference: Mice don't shoot back, but Tita's does! (Source: AnimeNfo)

This is an absolute classic. The premise is fairly interesting - some girl, Tita, is the captain of a spaceship which collects rare animals. Nice idea, which turns out not to be the focus of the OAV at all. Tita saves a girl who just happens to be being hunted by some evil guys. The chase begins! But that doesn't matter, because the real charm and brilliance of this anime doesn't lie in the dodgy story, bad music or waifs of character personalities. It's in the most beautiful and stunningly designed breasts in anime. That's right; the reason I've watched this dozens of times in the lastdozen or so years is the awesome tits. Satoshi Urushihara is the king of drawing truly beautiful female characters. Not just the boobs, the whole character is stunning, and invariably beautifully coloured. His manga and limited anime is peppered with such beautiful women. If you thought there was no such thing as hentai without rape and general mysogeny then check out his Another Lady Innocent anime or Nostalgic Heroines artbook. But this is far from hentai, it's just eye-candy, and I love it. Even Jonathon Ross has admitted his love from this one!
Ever since MST3K became a hit in the 1990s, it has been well known that many people (including myself) love to laugh at bad movies. However, it is difficult to describe exactly what makes a movie enjoyably bad vs. irritatingly bad. I believe that bad + boring + pretentious = irritatingly bad. Whereas sheer ineptitude creates the unintentional comedies that people love. Plastic Little is a movie so stupid you can't help but laugh at it. Even the title makes ZERO sense. The writer simply took two random English words and stuck them together! This 1994 movie was one of the first anime titles licensedin the US by ADV before they got HUGE after licensing Evangelion. As a result, almost the entire English cast of Eva also worked on this monstrosity, which brings extra comedy to English speaking audiences. This was one of the first purely shameless "echii" titles to be brought over to the states. The fanservice was so much more frequent than what American otaku were used to seeing in the early 1990s, that ADV actually added a "jiggle counter" at the bottom of the screen. Seriously! The story is an absolute mess of plot holes, deus ex machina bullshit, and of course NOTHING is explained about the background of this world or the society in which the characters live. The characters are stale and poorly developed, although that is to be expected for a 45 minute long borderline hentai. However, it is the instances of WTFuckery and head bashing idiocy that really makes this title shine! The story takes place on an alien planet during what I can only assume is the distant future. Of course, as I already stated the world of this anime and the background is almost entirely left unexplained. Our heroine is Tita, who lives on a planet populated by Russian people, along with one black Frenchman, who is simply there....because why not? Tita is only 17, but is the captain of a ship that captures large and exotic alien species to sell to space zoos and wealthy pet collectors. One day Tita sees a pretty girl being attacked by the goons of the evil Galactic Empire. Apparently the Galaxy is being terrorized by a poorly drawn Darth Vader ripoff resembling Darth Helmet from Space Balls, who is the most feared officer of the oppressive empire. He wants this hot blonde chick because...reasons. Tita saves the blonde chick using her Akira style ripoff motorcycle and after escaping inexplicably from a massive explosion, they spend the next 15 minutes bathing and feeling each other's tits, back on the bath house of Tita's ship. You will notice that this bath house is so huge that it logically wouldn't even be able to fit inside the ship unless they have some sort of dimension warping technology. Plastic Little has HEAVY Yuri (lesbian)i overtones, but never quite becomes a full fledged hentai. This is a rarity for the film's director Mr. Urushihara, who normally just draws porn for a living. Soon, blonde chick and Tita must confront Darth Helmet and infiltrate his base with some REALLY stupid action scenes. Darth Helmet tried tries to choke Tita to death while she is CLEARLY holding a gun, then is somehow surprised when she simply shoots him in the face and kills him! Tita and blonde chick then escape and Plastic Little achieves its crowning moment of sublime stupidity! The entire Imperial fleet is on their ass, and Tita's animal capture ship which the characters stated MULTIPLE times had no real combat capabilities, wipes out the entire Imperial fleet with ONE SHOT of the "galaxy buster cannon". Why the fuck not? The movie then ends with some comic relief involving the ship's crusty old first mate named Mikhail. MASTERPIECE! Overall 4/10 As unbelievably idiotic as this movie is, at least it is enjoyably stupid as opposed to being boring and stupid. The primary goal is to show as many tits as possible and it certainly achieved that goal. The series is well drawn, decently animated, has an OK soundtrack, and was pretty technically impressive for its time. The voice acting is awful including Tiffany Grant as blonde chick doing what may be the worst English accent ever, but that only adds to the comedy. If you want to have a laugh at the expense of an old, bad anime then Plastic Little is that anime!
I had never heard of this title before, I downloaded it, but when I saw the actual name, (and noticed it was an 1 episode OVA), I thought it would be a hentai. But it isn't, although there's nudity in it (top only). The art is pretty normal, looks like the old basic art anime had at that time, although the animation involving the nudity was like it should be in reality, (looked smoother tho'), they did a better job on it then most of the good hentai's do, that was kinda ironic, bu...t yet funny. The story is cool too, yet, old. Our heroïn helps astranger and brings her to her base (She's a pet hunter). And the enemy's who are after the one that was in trouble find out the base/hiding place and come to get her, after almost dying, they decide to actually take it up against the (corrupt) military force, and all her comrades help. Basic neh? The sound's really good for that time, everything sounds realistic, the characters are cool too, we got a (little bit) thickheaded heroïn, who doesn't know when to quit, an old companion, a dead father (who's became a legacy in the pet hunter world), the one who's in love with the lead character, the pervert, the person who we doubt (if he will stay on the good side), and the person in need of rescue. Other characters are basic too, an evil guy who has an army under his control, he wears a suit which makes him all-powerful, he's sick in his mind too, and the look-a-like henchmen of his. It's enjoyable, it doesn't take long, that's too bad, they could've at least made several episodes, but the way they put it together in just one episode is really cool too, we get fast introductions and flashbacks, which doesn't bother cause it happened good and all the event happen fast, but again in a good way.
"Plastic Little" (or, to give it its full title "Plastic Little: The Adventures of Captain Tita",) is an action anime that manages to fall short of mediocrity despite having a pretty good opening. Filled with fan service and a half-arsed plot, it turned out to be a very dull affair. My concentration wandered so many times during this boring anime, that I totally lost track of what was going on. And you know what? I don't really care - this turned out to be a complete waste of my time... good job it only wasted 45 minutes of it. In this truly unsatisfying OVA, nothing reallystood out. The comedy is forgettable - I can't even remember a single joke they attempted. In fact I can barely remember whether it's meant to be comedy or not, but since it's got "Comedy" down as one of its genre labels, I guess it must be... or at least it tried to be. I'm not usually one to complain about lack of originality, but the story and characters are so unoriginal and one dimensional that they totally bore me. The story is your typical bad guys who want to destroy the world (they didn't bother explaining why) set up, with a most unlikely group of "pet shop hunters" (ok I guess there might be some originality in this after all) armed with state of the art equipment out to stop them. Incredibly, the story has a few holes in it even though there's barely enough material to support the existence of holes. It also somehow manages to be badly explained even though there's barely anything to explain. In particular, what happened towards the end the show is a bit of a puzzle to me... but I didn't really care enough to try and puzzle it out - I was just relieved that this borefest was finally coming to an end! The characterisations are plain lazy - it doesn't feel like the creators put too much effort into them. A few common, cheap tricks are applied here and there to try and make them seem more interesting, but it totally failed, as they didn't interest me in the slightest. If you're looking for action, there are far better anime out there than this extraordinarily dull show. At the end of the day, the most interesting thing about "Plastic Little" is its title... and the amusing name "Captain Tita" - it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is an ecchi. And why is this called "Plastic Little" anyway??
This is one of the classic animes that came to america many yeas ago. I myself saw this rare gem about 15 years ago when in a video store and decided to rent it. The art and music were both great in my opinion. I had only watched about 10-15 other types of animes at the time when i first saw this OVA , it is still an old fav of mine
In forty-eight minutes Plastic Little manages to create a confusing world. I can’t tell whether it was made to be a sci-fi action adventure or a full on hentai. Not enough tits for hentai and not enough story for action adventure…so what does that make it? Despite the fact the story is weak, the characters are underdeveloped and uninteresting, and there is a jiggle counter on the DVD, it does manage to have fantastic animation for the time. Our two heroines are downright adorable and anything the anime does lack it makes up for in perfectly drawn breasts and very cute girls. Otherwise, the villainlooks ridiculous, the plot is barely there, the action is uninteresting, and the only thing you’ll remember about this show, sadly, is the bathhouse scene and perhaps the yuri subtext.
Ah, Satoshi Urushihara, we meet again. Despite having never peeped the source material, I found myself enjoying Plastic Little in a sort of guilty-pleasure sort of way while knowing the story and pacing were messy with how much they were trying to fit into one OVA. It's a simple-ish story though and I managed to follow most of it. Per Urushihara's style, of course, there's fanservice but I feel like I would have enjoyed it if it like, wasn't two underage girls lmao. Aside from that, the art is pretty and the style really appeals to me. I feel like if it came out today the femboylovers would be clamoring for Nichol the moment he came on screen. I don't know if I'll ever read the source material. All I know is whatever the OVA presented to me. But, if you're bored and looking for something to passively watch, this is the OVA for you. Just like, don't watch it when people can walk in when you clearly have some girl's boobs on your screen. Common sense and all.
In between the uneven pacing, exposition dumps and wtf deus ex machina moment at the end, its pretty clear this ova is more a vehicle for Urushihara's legendary boob - I mean character designs! All things considered, for a boob slideshow, this is a pretty decent ova. Aside from Oppai, the main thing I found entertaining was how the colony's big bad military are SO backwater their gear is overshadowed and outmatched by the civilian equipment of one space whaling ship. It's no wonder this colony is going to such lengths to develop a superweapon! Of course most people aren't going to over analyzethe world building of fictional universes like I do. What you will get here is a beautifully animated and drawn celebration of Urushihara's gorgeous character designs tightly packaged into that iconic sci fi aesthetic of 80s/90s anime. A must watch if you love golden era Ovas.
I never saw Plastic Little until today, so I did not watch it with Nostalgia Glasses on, Nor have I ever seen the ENG version of it and its Jiggle counters. That could be why I felt like I had a hard time actually getting into it compared to a lot of viewers. The plot i think has the biggest problem. The story follows a girl named Tita, who rescues another girl named Elysse from strange men. Elysse tells Tita that her father accidentally created a weapon and tried to shut it down, with Elysse being the only one to either reactive it or completelydestroy it. Together they try to bring down the weapon for good. Its pretty simple, but for a 40 minuet OVA, its lacking in a lot of information. What is really given is very basic stuff. "Weapon is bad. Dad made it. We need to destroy it." Its very by the book plot. But that's when the film focuses on it. That's because the film will spend some time character developing... in a way. A lot of scenes will be characters talking and explaining their backgrounds, but then it kinda feels rushed and lacking. There was an effort tho. Both girls got some daddy issue thrown in, so there is that. As for the other characters... Uh... I know someone likes Tita.. that's about it? The others just appear from time to time when the plot needs them, but You barely even know or care about them. I say the best part of this is the art. Its cute. That's about it, Its very nice early 90s style that was popular for it's time. Its pretty to look at, and its just... cute. That seems so bland to say, but that's because outside of a few things like the eye styles, you could tell me this was any other 90s series and I would believe it. Nothing stood out. But it wasn't ugly or badly drawn... it was just....cute. Nothing more. Overall, this is very skippable. There is nothing memorable about the film. I just saw it and I cant even say I remember a lot about it. I say the most memorable thing about it was the gratuitous nipple shots that were only there for fan-service. But If that's what draws you to this, there are a billion other (and better) hentai and ecchi series out there. Other then that, I can't see this really interesting anyone outside of its nostalgia look.
There are a lot of silly OVAs from the late 80s to early 90s. While not every one of them is of the type of high quality you’d want out of an anime in terms of production and narrative quality, you get a sense of nostalgia from watching them. Even if you never grew up during the early 90s, at least for me. I’m only at the tip of the iceberg during my journey, watching many OVAs that became ever-present during its golden era. I decided that Plastic Little would be the one to start it off. Why exactly did I want to start with thisone? It is directed by one of my favorite character designers, Satori Usushihara. You may remember him for many contributions to character designs for dozens of games, manga, and anime. He even sold artbooks based on franchises he has worked on. Lastly, it seemed like a fun little OVA that lasted for only about 40-50 minutes from what I could gather from reading the synopsis. At about the 20-minute mark, I had to think to myself: “Was this story ever thought out beforehand?” I already felt that this was supposed to be an OVA series stretched out into several other episodes, but maybe they did not have the budget, or there were time constraints to make that happen. Knowing that Satoshi’s artwork has caused a hentai studio to shutter because they blew their budget on using his designs in animation form, this might not be too far off from the truth. Would it have been better if this show had more episodes to fill in more character development and world-building to make it more exciting? Sure, it would have at least been a solid OVA. However, the story itself is as basic and formulaic as you could get. It’s just: The girl escapes from an evil villain, the girl meets another girl who saves her, and the girls then decide to destroy the villain’s plot to destroy their world. Again, very basic. There are no exciting motivations or twists to the story to make it unique from any other sci-fi story. The side characters are almost non-existent and don’t contribute much except for mildly funny gags here and there. If one thing saves this OVA from being terrible, it is the art and animation. That expectation was met with great satisfaction. The girls all look exceptionally well from the oppai to their other physical features. I can’t say much for the male characters. They all look pretty generic, which is weird considering Satoshi also draws guys just as beautiful as the females. While I won’t put the animation as outstanding for an OVA in the early 90s, it’s still pretty nice to look at with the chase sequences. There will be people expecting an OVA with some hentai elements. I can assure you that this can be barely described even as hentai-lite. Keep that in mind if that is what you might be looking for when you see the posters online of this OVA. The only real scene with titillation is when the two central girls are bathing in a giant bathhouse that looks like an indoor swimming pool that somehow fits inside a tiny submarine. But even then, it’s no more titillating than your average episode of Kiss x Sis or Highschool DxD. The 2nd half is just our main characters trying to stop the evil villain and forming a lesbian relationship that comes out of nowhere near the end. I guess you got to fit in that yuri element somehow. Would I classify Plastic Little as a terrible OVA? No, but if someone had told me that they thought it was awful, I wouldn’t bother arguing with that take. It was short enough that it didn’t elicit any big negative feelings. It felt like a proof of concept that the writers didn’t bother to expand on further, which is disappointing. Satoshi-san deserves to have at least one anime show or OVA that showcases his incredible talent and is not just an anchor for a boring story or lackluster characters. Grade: C-
Honestly, this was almost alright. I liked the protagonist Captain Tina quite a bit, and the whole production didn't take itself too seriously... until it did. It's another one of THESE anime OVA movies. The action and animation are okay, the characters aren't much of anything, but it's nice enough... except for the parts that bring it down. It's also super pervy with showing off the topless main characters and constantly focusing on their breasts. Sure, fanservice and whatever, but it went too far beyond what's acceptable, and even had some of that awful "boys creeping on the bathhouse" stuff that makes people hate the entiremedium. There's even some undercurrents of gayness between Captain Tita and her new princess-y friend, but absolutely nothing is done with it. Sad. Basically, Plastic Little is a worse version of Project A-ko and makes me wish I just watched Project A-ko instead.
