I view this as a somewhat strange Pure land Buddhist fable about the awakening of what is, in everything but name, a Buddha into the modern world. Yep, there's tentacle rape and all of that, but there's not enough sex for it to work as porn. For me the sex simply makes sense if you're going to tell a story about the demon world trying to keep the birth of Chojin at bay. Demons are pure id; sex and violence are the norm within that mythical context. The ending is something I cannot imagine coming out of a western movie. I won't go into details,but if you expect love to win you might disappointed. And yet I wouldn't call it nihilistic either, and that is what makes this movie so fascinating to me. I can't say ideologically/thematically I've seen anything quite like it. I saw it around 1990 or so on a bootleg VHS that was called Wandering Kid. Later I had it on proper release but I haven't seen it for probably over 20 years. Needless to say most what I'm picking up on went well over my head back then. It's rare for something to age so well IMO.
Urotsukiidoji, also known as "Legend of the Overfiend", is one of the most infamous examples of tentacle hentai known to man, second perhaps only to La Blue Girl in notoriety. The movie summarizes most of the original 5 OVA series in a single feature-length form, with the bits about Munihausen and the 'Evil King' showing up in the Legend of the Demon Womb, a 'sequel' film that actually happens in the middle of the first. The plot holds that there are three worlds, those of humans, man-beasts and demons. The human world is largely oblivious of its neighbors, the man-beasts are isolationistswaiting for a savior no one really believes in and the demons go around raping everyone and everything they can get their cocks into. Anyway, a 'God Above All Gods' called the Choujin (Overfiend) is supposed to come around to unite the three worlds, but his coming is somewhat less propitious than our hero, Amano Jyaku of the man-beasts, would have hoped. Most people who are hoping for a new world to be born conveniently forget the old one has to die first, and death by Godzilla-sized monster spewing laser beams from its cocks is rarely pleasant. Overfiend may not be the best-written hentai in existence, but it does have an epic plot and some good fights thrown in among all the thrusting and screaming. If you get off on tentacle rape or just want to watch one of the legends of the genre doing its thing, Choujin et al is for you. Breakdown: Story 7 - Pretty well-done horror film fare Art 8 - Horrific, erotic, often both at once Sound 6 - The dub was pretty awful, with monotone voice acting abounding ... Japanese voices much better Character 8 - Amano Jyaku is pretty kickass, and you really feel sorry for the kid who ends up as the Choujin ... he doesn't *want* to rape the world to death, but it's his destiny n all Enjoyment 8 - It's a classic, worth watching if only for sheer WTF value Overall 8 - Bring a tissue
Wow this is a anime that you have got to see.This is not a HENTAI anime. There is some sex humor with magumi and the pervert nagumo.Its really about this god that comes to reunite the 3 worlds every 3 milenia which causes alot of carnage and alot of gory rape.If you what to see what 2012 will be like then look at this pandemonium. Sex/Nudity. 3.5/5 Not too bad as you think since dont not see any genitialiea but you do see demon rape that is grusome as it shows the chojin turning into this monster as he rapes a nurse and while he hasa orgasm the nurse bursts into bits of guts and flesh. Another scene is when akemi and nagumo are at home alown we see them about to have sex until they get interupted as SOMEBODY bursts through the window and kidnaps akemi.One of the oddest scenes is when akemi get raped by a female teacher by the name of miss tonomi whos tounge turns out to be this tentical with a eye which splits into about another 100 tenticals.They are more sceans in this anime that I wont go through because I dont want to scare you off. Violence. 4.5/S Like I said above nurses burst into blood and bits and a monster gets a C section after it swallows ozaki and dont get me started on the end of the world sheesh its like a bloody smoothy. Language. 4/5 There is sexual slang but not much of it but when it comes to cursing its pretty bad as F bombs are trown over the place along with shit and blood and who knows what else. Profanity/occult. 3.5/5 Talks about a demon realm and a supreme ultragod who is ment to make the world pure with peace.And then end of the world which is caused by the overfiend having a orgasm (yes you saw that right!). Age rating. 17 + but be careful who you show it too as its gore and rape might be too much.
I think that the overall story of this anime is very suitable for fans who are 18 or older. I would not reccomend it to anyone younger, 18 would be a good age to first see it except if you saw the edited version. The edited version I would say could be suitable for anyone 17 or older. You would need to be a good age to see this one, its very mature and quite violent if you're into seeing blood on dead bodies and all of that gooey stuff. There is also a lot of gore and a bit of sexual slang (not as much as thecursing though). I know that many people try to avoid this anime but there is really no need. If you don't like it at least you gave it a try and you saw what it was like. Overall wouldn't be my number 1 favourite anime but it is a great horror fantasy about the future and it could be an enjoyable feature film for anyone who is the right age.
