Kaname Okiura, a student of Prefectoral Umineko Shougyou High ("Umishou" for short), joined the school's swimming club in order to learn how to swim, but the club is filled with weirdos, let alone who can teach him swimming. Then, a sunny, happy-go-lucky girl named Amuro Ninagawa who transferred from Okinawa joined the club. Her extraordinary underwater speed and unorthodox swimming style (plus her personal habit of nude swimming—a powerful magnet to teenage boys) surprised every club member, especially Okiura, because she reminds him of a mermaid-like creature he saw only once in his early childhood. The story of Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho tells of the trials and tribulations of the Umisho Swim Team. The main plot focuses on Kaname Okiura. He is a member of the swim team, but he doesn't partake in the actual swimming. As a child he got into a swimming accident and has feared it ever since. With the arrival of Ninagawa Amuro coupled together with all of the other members of the Umisho Swim team, everything descends to chaos with much fan service. Fan service is essentially the whole point of this show. Stay away if you are easily offended by frequent panty shotsand the prospect of shaving each other. The Art style of Umisho is fairly unique with a lot of washed colours and bright landscapes. Although the backdrop is usually a pool or pool area, most scenes are very colourful and easily convey the mood. No complaints from the art of the series, but it certainly isn't special in any way. The sounds of Umisho aren't spectacular in any way but the background music is fine and the OP/ED are nice. The music is usually very cheery, but in the few "serious" parts the music heats up and helps you get into the action. I'm not a big fan of using the OP as an insert song and they do this one or two times. It makes it feel like they were just lazy more than anything. Voice acting was good, there weren't any standouts as great voice actors but everyone fit their characters fairly well and did a nice job. The characters of Umisho are all very diverse and each are funny in their own respects. The captain of the team is always off the wall and doing extremely weird stuff, always very funny. The main character, Kaname, is really the only letdown character wise, all of the other characters are funny in some respect or an other, but he is a fairly static character. The large breasted Shizuoka on the other hand is usually very shy, but she gets very excited when she thinks someone is watching her or the prospect of seeing a man naked. Overall the characters for the most part are all very nicely done with well written dialogue for each. I enjoyed Umisho to the point that I looked forward to each episodes release, but I can't say it is one of my favourites. Overall it is very nicely done and a good quick watch show. With a very open ending I think it is safe to say that we will see more Umisho in the future.
Despite having a nice, aesthetically pleasing, jiggly bunch of both boobs and butts and being little more than pure ecchi most of the time, this anime managed to worm its way into my heart. Think Free!, but with less gay and more comedy. Every episode is doing pretty darn well in comedy departments, it always sticks to the story at least partially and there is enough of fanservice for everyone, which is truly something to commend. Nice summertime music and quality VA. The characters themselves are a breath of fresh air, since most of them aren't COMPLETELY one-sided to the point where you can predicttheir every move and some of them have a little something secret going on on the side. The screen time most of them get is also pretty enjoyable, so if you're into finding out about the supporting cast, you will be pleased. A rare ecchi that's actually enjoyable in terms other than "sexy". Probably underrated. You'll love it to death, guaranteed or your proverbial money back.
Ah, another one I watched that I shouldn't have watched, I knew I shouldn't have watched it before I watched it and during watching it I kept telling myself; "drop it, drop it, drop it". I didn't, good anime are in short supply these days so I guess I'll have to watch the bad ones instead. There was one good scene in this anime and that scene saved it from being a 2. Instead it's a 3, which is very bad. The reason for this bad rating is that this anime was bad. Why? Let's begin with the animation. Animation is basics in anime. This animewas made in the year of 2007. The year of 2007 is not a year of the stoneage when fire had been discovered just the other day, it is the year TTGL was made, one of the best animes when it comes to animation and art that has ever been made. Don't get me wrong, I am quite aware that the production budgets for the two animes were on different levels completely. Still in the yar 2007 I would expect better than something made in the late 80's. Now let's move on to the story. What story? The story of Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho, a great story. A story so ellaborate and complex that I fear nothing is ever going to compare. No but really, there was no real story in this anime. There were some haphazardly loose plot fragments here and there, some girl living on some sort of floating plank construction drifiting in from the sea that didn't really feel like the main female lead, she felt like something thrown in for fanservice. Did I mention the fanservice? There's alot of it in this anime and the thing is, it's not even good. I don't like fanservice in anime especially when it is not called for, if fanservice is required for story development or character development then by all means. If you want to see that sort of thing go watch hentai intead. Characters are important in anime. Now that short sentence should be sufficient to rate this anime a 3. The characters in this anime were poorly drawn, poorly timed and had very, very, very poor character development. Interaction between the characters felt so fake that I laughed most of the time whenever seeing two characters on screen at the same time. In conclusion; I don't think anyone should watch this anime, mostly because it's bad, but also because it's really bad. Now I am sure there are fanboys even for this, something I truly can not, for my life, understand.
One can say the story in here is not very alluring, but the comedy is a driving point for the viewers out there reading my review. By now you have already looked at the genres this anime falls under and should recognize that it is an ecchi, which means you either get great "pervertedness" or "Okay" plot, BUT surprisingly you get both! There is plenty of tease moments for the ecchi lovers and humor is bound to accompany, because we all know that a breast reference here will lead to a cleavage exposure there. Anyways, what's really great about this anime is that there issome original humor, and that's on the Japanese's standard! Its one of those anime were jokes hit hard in situations that would never occur in real life. Of course by now there should be some "constructive" criticism and believe me there is... Just not that much. The plot wasn't that great and the actual artistic aspects of animation were not that great. Don't get me wrong though! The ending was phenomenal and went out with a bang, its just that the only hook the series had was humor. Plus the questionable romance that seems to drift in and out of the story isn't affirmed until the very end of the series. No really, not until even after the ending credits are things explained. Still overall a 10/10. Why? Because as an ecchi, this show filled all expectations of being perverted and maintained sensible boundaries. As an anime as a whole probably between a 7 or an 8.5 out of 10. Still worth the while!
Writing is not my ability but with Umisho I actually wrote one. So far the best Love Story for me, doesn't contain any serious drama and romance and it does not focus on luv life! That's what I like about this anime. With only 13 episodes I should give a 9 for the story but with Kaname and Amuro's love story and Kaname being a very lucky guy I gave a 10. The Art is Great, a 9. I gave 10 for the sound because of the Soundtrack. All the characters were fun, they're all unique (especially Amuro) and great! Overall this anime is really greatfor its atmosphere!
Heartfelt Slice of Life comedy that captures the drama and misadventures of sports teams plus the struggles of adolescence beautifully. This anime was suggested to me by a friend and while sport-themed fiction is not really my forte, I love how it addresses young love, teamwork, overcoming self-doubt and doing ones best regardless of the odds. While the main love story between Kamane and Amuro is one that is all too familiar, I nevertheless enjoyed it along with the craziness their fellow teammates bring about. The passion, outrageous hilariousness and relatable air blend together well making it a joy to watch. Whether you play/love sportsor not, it's just the sort of anime to inspire, uplift and show to people that it's okay if you fall from time to time-as long as you don't give up and stand by those who believe in you, you can accomplish a great deal. Certainly has made me eager to read the manga as well.
Normally, anime's with sports in it, have a good story, in this case, it's not. It's revealed later on in the show, but that actually doesn't matter, because Umisho has lots of crazy characters in it who can entertain you before you get to the actual story, lots of things happen, every episode is enjoyable. The art is really great, it's kind of realistic, the animation is great to, sometimes there's this 3D vibe, yet it's still 2D, really great. I enjoyed this anime... very much, and everyone who loves ecchi and a good match of fan-service, this anime if for you guys/girls. But not only forthem, this is an anime which is enjoyable for anyone. Of course we still got the comedy and sports genre in it, so it's covered in anyway to be a good anime. Overall it's a great manga, it has a nice story, and the other eps where the story isn't introduced yet are hilarious too, it has ecchi and fan-service, come on. Who doesn't like that? And yet it is sometimes serious on the sports, which gets explained rather well, and then we still got the comedy part. And everyone loves comedy right?
I read most of the Manga before I found out they made it into an Anime. The series follows the Manga pretty close, but it adds a lot of extra fan service and extra detail and dialogue, making the series a little more worth while. If you like boobs popping out of swimsuits and nearly continuous panty shots, I suspect you'll love this rendition. It will highlight the ecchiness and hotness of each character, with a light love story in tow. However, the romance felt very tacked on, because you only see romance during the finale song in the last few minutes of the last episode. Soif you are looking for lots of romance, this isn't the show for you. ~Story 8/10~ The story mainly involves two main characters, Amuro and Kaname, and through out the series, Amuro tries to get Kaname to swim, or at least get into water that reaches higher than his knees. Will she succeed? ~Art 9/10~ The art closely resembled the manga art, and I'm glad there wasn't much of a discrepancy between the two. The hair colors and color of clothing was a bit different from what I imagined, but that isn't something that's bad. The art has seriousness and silliness, there are style changes based on what the situations are and what's going on. ~Sounds 7/10~ I didn't notice anything too wonderful about the sounds. However, they chose the perfect voice cast. ~Character 7/10~ In the manga you get into very deep character building, and since the anime is only 13 episodes, I suspect they didn't have enough time to add in a lot of character building. Everything is a bit shallow when it comes to the characters, there isn't anything unexpectedly deep or meaningful about them other than Amuro and Kaname. ~Enjoyment 8/10~ Although, I skipped through many of the parts, I did enjoy the show. The comedy is what really drove this series for me, however, sometimes the comedy was a little overboard and other times a little bit too childish. Subs: Polished
I loved i the hinting at romance with out revolving around it and all the different characters made it quite enjoyably. the personalities played a big part for me in bringing the story together. i was very upset with the lack of effort on the ending the series ended on the wrong part. if you want to watch this or have watched this be sure to catch the end of the final episode after the credits.i think a little bit more could have been put in to the ending. other then that great anime i recommend.
HIDDEN GEM HIDDEN GEM HIDDEN GEM... yes this anime is indeed hidden gem, you might get lured in thanks to ecchi tag, but this anime isnt good cause of its ecchi scenes, but cause of vibes it gives, I watched this while back, and we really need second season. You might ask: why the hell did you give 10/10 to this old anime? Art in demon slayer is much better, but you gave this 10... SO I will stop you there, look how old this anime is, and than talk! whats the point of reading this review, if you are thinking about watching it... watch itright now! You wont regret even second. To make this review longer, I prepared some final words: You will never know how good this anime is.. if you never watch it!
Now it's time to write a review. Story: Well, I think the story isn't really Umisho's strong point. I thought that Umisho's story is like any slice-of-life anime, without any real plot at all. Most of the sports anime I've seen have a sort of plot (like winning the olympics) and being introduced at earlier episodes. Umisho's plot revealed later on. Story: 9 Art: The art is really realistic, having some 3D yet kinda like 2D animation. I don't know how to explain it but the art is good. Art: 8 Sound: The opening and ending themes are really catchy, though serious. I expect from an Ecchi -slash-Comedy anime has that sort of "magical girl" songs, kinda like Magikano themes. Also, though they didn't put any intro songs, the op and ed themes gives that competitive feeling whenever played through the episode. Sound: 10 Character: There isn't really much in-depth character till ep. 6. Though the character depth doesn't give much information. It's enough to satisfy the viewers. Character: 8 Enjoyment: I enjoyed the anime very much, and I think even people who doesn't like ecchi (Though, I mean, who doesn't like good ecchi and good fan-service?) would enjoy it because other than the comedy and ecchi, it has good explanation on the sport. Enjoyment: 10 Overall: I give it a 10. Though, I wasn't give much explanation into the review (since I'm not good with words) I think you'll enjoy it too if you watch it.
