The adorable girls of Ousui Academy's student council love to spend time with their crush, Kouki Narumi. But what happens when he isn't around? For the student council, consisting of otaku president Kaoruko Rokuonji; headstrong Ashe Rufflette Sakuragi; quiet computer programmer Toa Narumi; and Toa's best friend, the impish Mihiro Miyase, it means they will have to keep themselves entertained. Wagamama High Spec offers a glimpse into the girls' lives as they get into amusing—and sometimes risqué—hijinks at their school and around town. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'll be very clear with you right from the start. This anime short is an ADVERTISEMENT for you to go play the visual novel. This is the ONLY reason for you to watch this show, so DON'T watch Wagamama High Spec if you don't plan on playing the visual novel. You WILL be wasting your time. For me, as an avid visual novel gamer, I've already heard about WagaHai getting an English translation from Sekai Project before the anime short was even announced. I watched this show just to check out the girls and the premise before the English patch is released for the game andexpected nothing more. And guess what? I got what I came for. Just from these short skits, I got a clear idea of which girl will be my favorite girl in the game (Toa-chan, of course). I got a feel for their personalities, their quirks, and what to expect when going through their routes in the game. I'm not even surprised when the main male character never showed up throughout the series. It costs more to hire a voice actor for a character that was voiceless in the game, and it's simply not worth investing in one for a simple commercial. Therefore, I can understand them teasing you about the main character in the show and never actually revealing him. In fact, never getting to see the main male character actually made me want to play the game even more! This is what you call good advertising. I repeat. Wagamama High Spec is NOT an adaptation. This show is an ADVERTISEMENT. This show is for a very narrow audience, and if you're not within that group, then you will not find much value in investing your time in WagaHai.
What can I possibly say about WagaHai..... This "anime" was nothing more than an advertisement for some mobile game called KakoTama. The synopsis has nothing to do with the anime, as the "protagonist" isn't in any of the episodes until the very last one, in which he doesn't even really show up. The episodes are marked as 3 minutes long, but in actuality are only half that, with the majority being the outro and advertisement. Honestly, this show was nothing but mislead hope. The story sounded like it could be something interesting but wasn't covered in the slightest. There wasn't manga written by any of thecharacters. There are only 4 characters in the whole show with little to no character development. Instead of getting to know them or their world, the show was a series of poorly pieced together sketches that had no correlation to each other. You could watch the show in any order and it would change nothing.
You read the synopsis right?...about that protagonist, he's not in this...yeah. Wagamama High Spec is by in large a typical "cute girls doing cute things" anime short and bar none that's all they do with some quirky punchlines here and there. Wagamama High Spec's comedy does fall on the closing punchline and it does hit for the most part and considering that it only has a 3 minute screentime each is probably why. In terms of characters, they are all stereotypical however the cast do have some chemistry with each other thus the comedic moments hits at times and if an anime can make LA laugh it's kindadone it's job. However this anime short has out of nowhere ecchi just for the sakes of it, hell in the first episode they all strip because the air conditioner was broken...yeaaahhhh that's the level of fanservice we're getting with WagaHai! As for voice acting, across the board, LA really didn't have an eye for anyone as most of the 4 girl cast have some level of squeak to them (bar none, it's moe so it's kinda a given), but the crazy ecchi antics these 4 girls take is really why LA is saying about the squeak and majority of the cast tend to "EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" or overexagerrate their vocals, but again nothing to brag about the voice acting. The animation by AXsiZ is "ok" at best and for an anime short, typical of these kind of anime shorts thus LA won't deter the score merely for how typical the animation is. Really LA didn't have much to talk about for WagaHai! and that's not a good thing, it didn't leave a good or bad impression on LA, it really is down to the concept a "moderately ok girls doing cute things" anime short, not as pandering as Pan de Peace (unless the ecchi gets you then yes, it will pander to that instead), but the plot although crazy, is standard fair for these kind of animes. Wagamama High Spec is just another "cute girls doing cute things" with a touch of weird comedy, if that interests you, WagaHai! can be an easy anime short to watch.
So this is my first review on here for a anime so im gonna go by everything that is said on here. Story: the story is pretty poor there really isnt much too it just a bunch of girls who work for a manga company Art: nothing really to say about the art was really good Sound: again another thing that doesnt matter to me but the sound was great Character: the characters for the most part were decent not the greatest with remembering the characters but they were good not annoying or anything major Enjoyment: i rated this a 5 because the synopsis is a basic lie thereis barely any ecchi in this also there is no harem the main guy who it should be doesnt even show up AT ALL in the anime which sucked Overall: i wouldn't saw this anime is bad but wouldn't say its good either
I'll be honest with you: I only picked this one up because the title was fun to say. That, and it was only going to take up five minutes of my time per week (actually closer to four). Judging by the promo images and such you'd expect this short to be heavy on the ecchi side of things but we don't get that until episode 11 and that one episode where the A/C broke. Other than that this is just standard slice of life/ cute girls doing cute things. No need to go out of your way for this one folks. Although, I'll make the mostly throwawaycomment that the ED is actually pretty good. One of the characters is supposedly a manga artist, (although that's just tossed out there once or twice) so the ED consists of pencil sketches of the characters in a carnival that is made up entirely out of drawing utensils set to a really solid and upbeat song just blasting in the background. Great, but should you watch this just for a pretty good ED? Fuck no. Why are you even still reading this? Go outside and start making better decisions than I have.
Wagamama is a very hard show to review, because there's not much to review- because it's really just a teaser for the VN source. From the anime standpoint, it's a slice of life about four girls that make up the student council. It's a mix of comedy and a bit of ecchi, with the girls randomly undressing and such as apparently the actual male protagonist, one of the heroine's brother no less, never shows up. There's not much to review because each of the twelve episodes is two minutes long, meaning the combined length of all the episodes is equivalent to at most one episodeof a full length show. If you're looking for a show with any depth or character development, this is not it. This is just some cutely drawn girls having fun, albeit very briefly. Animation: The animation is rather basic with simplistic detailing and limited backgrounds. The coloring is bright and pretty saturated, fitting given the light, playful mood. Though the characters are nicely styled, the show shoots itself in the foot; the VN-styled "stick" figures featured in the post-episode sections are drawn in a vastly superior style to those in the anime. There isn't any action in the show but there is a bit of ecchi as mentioned above. The ecchi is rather light and concentrated in specific episodes. Sound: The show only has one rock-based OP/ED that is obviously created specifically for the show. Don't expect anything special for the BGM, as nothing is particularly memorable. There are four primary VAs in this show, other than Mai Gotou (who I haven't heard from in two years) they're all pretty new to me. They do a fair job though there's not a terribly lot of depth for them to bring out in the first place. Story: What story? This is essentially an episodic slice of life that just shows the student council girls hanging out in various situations. Some are more humorous or ecchi than others, but in general it's average material at best. There isn't any real tension or central plot line; it's one of those shows where you could randomize the episode order (other than the first and last episode) and still have it feel just as contiguous. Character: Again, there's not too much depth to bring out in the characters given that there's only 24 total minutes of run time. In all that, I got that Toa is a bit more of the quiet type than the rest; otherwise, they're all just energetic, youthful girls. There are some nice interactions but no development given that the "protagonist" main male character isn't present. Value: Unless you want to play the VN or unless you absolutely have nothing to watch, I'd skip out on this teaser; there's just so much better stuff out there than this.
