After the Ice Queen brings eternal winter to the land of Nariadia, the only hope to restore balance is to gather human warriors and give them the power of Naria crystals. For this reason, Animaru has chosen the middle schoolers Urara, Inaho, and Hanabi as warriors. The girls, however, are much more focused on mocking the events happening around them and trying to earn money as idols. When the Ice Queen's familiars appear, they use the "Ice Mirror" to trick the girls into performing ridiculous skits. Will Urara, Inaho, and Hanabi ever step up and embrace their roles as magical girls, or will their antics prove too distracting to themselves? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Naria Girls is perhaps one of the worst anime I have ever seen and is definitely the worst title from this year thus far, even worse than other pieces of dookie such as "Big Order" or "Mayogia". It's that bad! Everything about this anime reeks of laziness from the opening credits, to the animation to the voice acting. Nothing in this show is remotely decent and everything makes me want to throw up into a basket of puppies. The plot makes no sense and I won't even try to explain it in this review. It's about three girls that become magical girls and have to fight theforces of evil or some crap like that. Boring and generic. What really makes this anime so bad, however, is the atrocious "script"...if you could even call it that. Most of the dialogue between the three girls is improvisation and none of what they say is funny or even makes sense half the time. Every joke falls flat and the topics they talk about don't even make any sense with no consistency or flow between what each person is saying. It's like these voice actresses got drunk, spoke some random trash which was recorded and lazily dubbed over animated girls. If there is some 'deep' symbolism behind what they're saying, I have no clue what it is (and let's face it, there is none) The animation is terrible. It consists of either still frames, which you'd think would at least have some good quality artwork, but NOPE! These frames are badly drawn and look like aids. The other half is made up of CGI (ohhhhh my favourite!) which look terrible. The models have no texture and look like they were ripped from a PS1 game and the characters are constantly moving around or jumping. It's almost as bad as the film 'Food Fight'. Not only that, the mouths don't sync up to what they're saying and often, the two character models will walk into each other, passing through one another entirely. This extremely lazy and I wonder how the hell in 2016 could this be played on television? I'm not even sure who this anime is marketed at. Even with all the pandering and the such, I'm sure no sweaty otaku in Japan would even go near this show with a 50-foot pole. It's the worst anime of this year and you should stay far away from it unless you're one of this sick twats like me who enjoy watching garbage anime.
"Vatican Carrots!" Look at all of the bad reviews. How many episodes have they seen? 1 or 2 episodes is undoubtedly not enough to give this anime a holistic and comprehensive review. Don't let this anime's synopsis fool you. If you take this anime seriously, then its score of 3.91 will be no shock to you. But this anime is not meant to be taken seriously. Its story is actually just a background for the refreshingly candid and original humor. The animation and voice acting are deliberately this way to perfectly fit the anime's theme. It's just satirically hilarious. Granted, its humor is not for everyone. Mahou ShoujoNaria Girls' humor is very particular, and it expects the audience to have some kind of prior understanding/experience with its type of humor. It's not at all a generic comedy, and it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Each episode is kind of structured in a certain way. The three Naria girls start out in some situation, to which there is often some impromptu comedic conversation. They then encounter a monster, and this monster leads them to enact a scenario impromptu, and as a result of the spontaneity, hilarity ensues. I really cannot praise the voice actors enough. From what I saw, each of their comedic skits was almost totally impromptu, with maybe some minimal guide-lining to make sure that they at least advance the plot a little bit. To be able to come up with this kind of humor on the spot is pretty impressive. There is also the "main" story, in which the Naria girls need to fill up their Naria power to defeat the evil Ice Queen. The story itself has its moments, and if the comedy was not included, then it might have had the potential to become a compelling short story. It truly wasn't a terrible story. Cliche, but decently interesting. I think the main thing that is very off-putting at first is the art, animation, and conversational style. To me, it seemed like the voice actors were actually video-recorded, and then they were reskinned in production to become the anime characters. So as a result, the animation seems strange and it doesn't seem well-planned. Most of the time there isn't really animation at all, it's just a still picture with sound effects and a narrative voice-over. And at first, the unfamiliar comedy is a bit jarring because the girls tend to all talk at once with seemingly no direction and no script. But all of these things actually are what contribute so much to the humor: all of the comedy seems impromptu and very candid. The bad animation style, the random conversations; each piece deliberately emphasizes this anime's satirical nature. Don't take this anime seriously. Don't watch it expecting an emotional, inspiring story. Don't watch it expecting the battle scenes to blow you away with beautiful animation. Don't watch it expecting to learn a deeper moral lesson than its surface implies. If you want a laugh, and if you want some quality, refreshing, candid humor, this is the anime to watch.
Wow, this sure is an underrated anime! But worry not, cause I'm here to clear this anime's name. I've seen that reviews here do this thing were they compare the anime that they're reviewing with others similar in style and more popularity. In this case I'll be choosing Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls: even though they aren't on the same genre, they share a unique way of telling their respective stories. That's why I'll use it as a metric for rating this anime. Story: 6/10 (1/10 if compared to other animes) This anime engages in the common story-telling practice, usually found in seasonal animes that are 13 episodeslong, commonly known as "developing the plot on the last four episodes". Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls does this gracefully and better that any other anime that I've ever seen, developing all of it's plot in just three episodes. A truly exceptional work of art. Both Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls and Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls share the trait of aggressively throwing important information over our heads right before it becomes important. I must recognize, however, that Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls' plot twist is far better than Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls' one, being the latter evident as soon as the information was revealed. What made me compare both isn't this two characteristics, however, but a more unique one: in both animes, episodes consist of characters saying stupid things in front of a microphone (which makes it more confusing when we are supposed to take them seriously on the last episodes). 6/10, since both are quite similar. Art: 9/10 (1/10) In this aspect Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls distinguish itself from Nyan Neko. The latter has a recognizable MMD style, contrasting with the classic MSpaint style that makes Nyan Neko so recognizable. I found that most people don't find this style particularly appealing and criticize some of it's quirks as it they were flaws. The clipping that constantly happens when a character moves is seen as a bug when it's a feature, one of the things that makes this art-style so enjoyable. I also enjoyed that the fights were depicted as an still pictures with a different art style than the one seen in the rest of the series. It's reminiscent of Nyan~ Neko sugar girl's opening, which used the same tactic. I only gave it a 9/10, however, since I kinda miss Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girl's style. It could be a ten, if they drew the fights using MS paint. Also, should I include the part where they transform and look exactly the same? Sound: 2/10 (4/10) In this aspect, Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls definitely distances itself from Nyan~ Neko. Instead of the quality work that Nyan did with it's voice acting (especially the nurse's), we have a voice acting done by professional microphones— acceptable, I guess, but it clashes with the choice they did for the show's animation. They have bits were they can't contain their laughter or directly forget the dialog/improvise, and that's why I decided it was worth a 2 instead of a 1. The opening was bland, the ending fells short if compared to Nyan's— but what ending doesn't? Character: 1/10 (5/10) Look, we have three characters: the flat chested girl, the girl who has boobs, and the protagonist. That's all, there's no other personality trait that distinguishes them. I still gave a 4 (decent) because that's how many animes are, it would be unjust to criticize Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls for it. At least in Nyan~ every character had a distinguishable characteristic that made them all lovable. My favourite character in this show was a monster, who appeared in one episode and was sad. This character alone elevates the rating from 4 to 5. Enjoyment: 10/10 I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed Nyan, which is to say a lot. The dialog was amazing, the artwork was one of the best that I've ever seen and the pacing of the story was simply perfect. There's nothing else to say. I'll break character for a brief moment in this review: yes, it was awful. But what else can I say? Is so awful that it starts to be enjoyable at some point. I mean it when I say that this is underrated: even if it isn't at My Immortal's level, I think it deserves a better recognition as the awful— yet enjoyable— anime that it is.
I was going to rewatch this anime for writing this review but 10 seconds into the first episode I couldn't bring myself to rewatch this crap again. This show isn't offensively bad, it's just plain bad. Story: 1/10. From what I made out of the show, they're some sort of magical girls with a power called Naria (hence the title) that fight monsters that make them act out scenes...I guess. I honestly couldn't tell anyone what the story is about if my life was on the line. The story was all over the place and made no sense whatsoever. Art: 2/10. The artwork looked like a 13year old's failed MMD project. It had this hideous CG animation or poorly drawn blank screens. It was hideous to look at for ever 90 percent of the series. The only reason I gave it a 2 was because at some points the artwork looked somewhat charming. Sound: 2/10. The voice actors constantly sound awkward and as if they didn't know what to do. I have never heard voice acting, if you even call it that, as bad as theirs. It sounded like the director just told them to be cute and make up magical girl crap. It's not like the series had a story anyway. It sounded like an idol talk show recorded on a laptop's microphone. On to the music in the series, the opening is absolutely dreadful. I couldn't stand to listen to it and the poor animation in the opening didn't make me watch it either. The song sounds very rushed as if they put it together and recorded in 10 minutes. The ending, however, makes up for the horrendous opening. The ending song was cute and sounded quite nice. I could see myself listening to that song again sometime. Character: 1/10. The characters were bland and forgettable and had no personality. I could not tell you a single thing about these characters besides what they look like. It's a shame these characters weren't good because I was quite fond of the designs. The designs were cute and the uniforms were unique, but alas an okay design does not make up for a lack of character. Enjoyment: 1/10. There wasn't anything in the series to enjoy. I watched these episodes weekly and couldn't stand it. I can't even imagine watching all 12 episodes at once. It was painfully boring and bland. I can't say much more than don't watch it because it's so boring. Overall: 2/10. I have nothing else to say about this show then don't watch it. There is literally no reason to watch this show. Please spare yourself and don't watch it.
If you go into this show expecting a "normal" anime, you're going to be very disappointed. This is not a normal anime. The best way I can describe it is a couple VTubers doing improv sketch comedy in VR chat. There was an attempt at an overarching story, but it's so cliche that it really isn't worth paying attention to for the most part (with the exception of the final episode where everything suddenly gets way more serious out of nowhere, which gave me some serious tonal whiplash. In a good way that is) I don't think I even need to say anything about the animation. It's bad. Probably the worst I've seen in anime so far. Just some bad motion capture on ugly, static backgrounds. Although I will admit, the fact that their outfits don't change even a little bit when they transform is kinda funny. Despite all that tho, I can't bring myself to hate this anime. It's clear that the people who made this had a lot of fun and it clearly wasn't meant to be a "good" show anyway. So if you're looking for an actual anime to watch, please avoid this show. But if you just pretend it's a vtuber stream you can probably get some enjoyment out of this.

Yawn... Plot and story: So, the "story" follows Urara, Hanabi and Inaho, who become the three legendary Naria girls - Spring, Summer and Autumn - to stop the evil Ice Queen from sending her monsters to Earth. The story is rushed. Everything happens so quickly and the episodes are repetetive. All episodes go something like this; 1. The girls talk about something random 2. Monster appears 3. The girls do some improvisation sketches 4. They transform 5. They call out random names of their attacks and defeat the monsterIt's the same thing over and over again. The only thing that changes are the jokes. There are no fighting scenes either. Just pictures. Oh, and let's not forget about all the commercials for Final Fantasy, music singles and new anime. Characters: I've got two word for this; Flat and uncreative It's basiaclly the same character with three different appearances. And all three just happen to have the same amount of character development - none. Much like regular magical girl anime, they have a "mascot" for the team - Animaru - who gave them access to their powers. We barely ever see him after the first episode except when the girls need to transform. It's not until episode 5 when we actually get to see him. Then he disappears again. And don't even get me started on the "bad guys". This is one of the few anime I've watched that I didn't care about any of the characters. Hmm? How little I cared, you ask? The characters are so uninteresting that when the protagonist's grandma was about to die, I yawned. And when she actually died, I almost laughed. It's impossible to take the characters (or anything else in this anime for that matter) seriously. That's how bad it is. Animation / Art: Horrific. The "anime" has 3D animation on a low budget. Most of the scenes they use are frozen pictures. You can only hear the sound effects and voices. The only times they actually move are when they talk and during their transformation scenes. And the animation isn't even good. The 3D animation is basically just like the MMD (Miku Miku Dance). Actually, the Youtubers who make MMD videos can do better than this anime. As for the character designs, I can't even tell the difference between their transformation outfits and their regular school uniforms. Where they even trying? Music and voice acting: The opening and ending's fast pace matches the story's pace, as well as the characters' "personalities". The music itself is decent. Nothing special. The voice acting is actually good. The characters' conversations sound quite realistic at times. Like they're having a normal conversation in real life. Sometimes. But just like they have some realistic conversations, they sometime overdo it. Ending: The part of the anime you wish would happen sooner. The more you watch of the anime, the more you long for its ending. The ending itself was predictable, unoriginal and boring. Nothing I haven't seen hundreds of times already. Overall: I can see that it's supposed to be a parody of magical girls anime. And I can see what they're making fun of. However, Cute High Earth Defense Club Love is also a parody, but that anime actually does it right. I'd rather recommend people to watch that anime than Naria Girls. But if you have some time to kill and are curious about how bad the Naria Girls anime is; good luck.

Mahou Shoujo? Naria☆Girls is a very bizarre little project. The story follows 3 magical girls fighting baddies of the week to save the magical land of Nariadia from a wicked Ice Queen… Though 85% of the screentime is dedicated to the girls who have no particular interest in being magical girls instead doing prompted improv comedy skits a la Whose Line Is It Anyway? Far more important than what it claims to be about, is how it was made. Naria Girls is almost entirely non-scripted. The three protagonists are played vocally and physically by their voice actresses – literally, they rigged up their voice actresses withmotion capture to control CG anime models, and captured their performances live! There is a director who prompts the actresses, and there are some scenes that were definitely scripted as they exist to serve what meagre story is present in the later episodes, but the vast majority of Naria Girls is composed of these three actresses honestly just standing in frame and doing hit and miss improv comedy amongst each other. Each episode of Naria Girls is composed of a few different parts: -We get an intro that is a series of drawn stills with narration over it - Then we go into the CG models doing improv comedy until the halfway point when an evil minion shows up in the form of a drawn still with narration over it and “attacks” them by giving them a prompt for more improv comedy - Then the animal mascot appears and tells the girls to transform, giving them another prompt to use as their transformation chant - We get another series of drawn stills of the girls defeating the evil minion, who is usually a guest voice actor who is allowed to say whatever they want, including “Please buy Persona 5!” and other promotions of different projects they are working on. The story of Naria Girls is paper-thin of course, because it isn’t really a magical girl anime, it’s an improv comedy show in which magical girl tropes are sometimes utilized to spoof them. The girls go through a transformation sequence in which they literally don’t transform at all, the talking mascot animal admits to being there just to sell products, and the show’s title and the final episode itself brazenly rip off Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica. The drawn stills are quite amateurish and look unfinished, but the CG animation in this is objectively awful. Limbs clip through the girls’ torsos and skirts every episode, hair jitters constantly, and girls often seem to be sliding side to side and sometimes off the frame. It is live capture so it’s not surprising that the final product is very technically unrefined, and I don’t know anything about the program they used to create this anime or CG animation in general, but I just want to ask: Was there really no way to go in and edit the models after everything was captured, if only to fix these obvious mistakes? I realize it’s a comedy and perhaps its entire conception was in itself, a complete joke, but if you’re making something with the intent of having people watch it… Then again, series like Idolls! exist, and seem to have slightly better production values and is still just as technically inept. So who knows what is going on in Japanese mocap anime studios. I initially hated the designs for the girls, but they ended up growing on me in a major way by the end. They each represent a season – Urara is Spring, Hanabi is Summer, and Inaho is Autumn – and it would have been easy to overdesign them to get that across, but the visual theming is pleasantly lowkey. As for the enemy designs, they are the standard ugly and forgettable animal-with-wacky-clothes-or-hair designs you would see in any Precure season. Overall Naria Girls managed to be surprisingly charming, in a strange twist of fate, because of its bizarre production that made it feel more like I was watching a group of girls goof off in a VR chatroom than I was watching an actual attempt at a TV anime. It helps that sometimes the comedy was actually funny and the girls were likeable, if only because you felt bad for them most of the time. 3/10.
If you like shows such as "Whos Line is it Anyway?", then you may like this show. I first discovered this on Crunchyroll and found the image poster to be pretty so I wanted to see what it was like. I suppose you could say the image is rather misleading considering the anime itself consists of cgi motion capture with some stillframe illustrations. I didn't expect myself to watch more after the first episode, but regardless if it was curiosity, enjoyment or the need of always finishing an anime, I kept watching. It's a parody anime that much is obivious. Morso it's an experiment probably withsome well known voice actors in Japan. If one isn't caught up on current trends or humor from Japan it can easily become lost on American audiences. I think episode 9 is when it started to get pretty funny. The end is rather Madoka-esque and I know it's a parody magical girl show but I was hoping for a more light hearted ending. Main point! If you like improv shows, you will like this. The animation is less to be desired but it's not really ment to be taken seriously...I'm more curious as to how they made it. I need to look up the behind the scenes for this.
well ill give this anime one thing it made me laugh. not in a good way tho i was laughing at how trash the art style was. I feel like the writer basically got 3 random girls off the street and put a body tracking system on them. put them in front of a green screen then told them all to talk at the same time. So annoying, the first 6 eps are all the same thing. After the 6th ep a bunch of random stuff happens that has no way to fit into the show also the first ep had nothing to do withthe rest of the show go watch sailor moon if u want a magic school girl show. 1/10 nothing is good about this anime oh wait at first there is like 5 seconds in the op that was kinda lit when the killed mob looking things but if that the best this anime has then its really bad.
Oh god. What even is this? I didn’t exactly have high expectations in the first place, but they just became nonexistent the first five minutes of this garbage. I wanted to make a review, so I had to suffer through all 12 episodes and pray this would stop. I cannot wait to return to the actual anime world and not this. STORY: The story is quite unpredictable but I didn’t like it. The ending was confusing. ART: Look up one image of this show if you already haven’t, and you will be absolutely mortified. SOUND: I would say it’s the show’s only strong point since I didenjoy the ED but that’s it. CHARACTER: The characters except the pink girl was not well developed. ENJOYMENT: Cannot believe I actually forced myself to sit through eight minutes of pain 12 times. The jokes and puns sucked and didn’t laugh once. PLEASE SKIP THIS ANIME EVEN IF YOU ARE CURIOUS. IT IS PURE TRASH. WATCH AN ACTUAL ANIME
This show has a very specific type of comedy that I don't expect to appeal to the public but do not expect a good show, it is funny because its bad and I hope its intentional. To put it simply the show is three women in a room with 3D vtuber models and what I assume is a script reading "Magical girl anime". Its just pure unscripted comedy which is why its hit or miss, a vague plot is present but only so that the show is somewhat connected. There are small cutaways with the villain of the week being interviewed which I personally found funny,an unscripted skit the girls have to perform and casual banter. That's it really. The 9/10 is for entertainment value alone expect nothing else from this, the only reason its not a 10 is because of the serious ending which is forced in which I think is supposed to be funny but is taken so importantly compared to the rest of the show I can't laugh? For the best experience watch everything but the last episode the ending isn't good anyway I would have preferred the villain inning that would have been more funny not a scuffed madoka magika but oh well.
