"Nyow" - Chocola This OVA initially started as a fundraiser with the goal of raising 100,000 USD to create an anime adaption of the popular Visual Novel series Nekopara. By the time it was completed it had raised nearly a million. To say that there is hype surrounding this OVA is undeniable. The better question is, does it live up to it? Unfortunately no. The OVA suffers primarily from poor pacing, as they attempt to cram 4-5 hours of visual novel content into a 1 hour show. Rushed scenes and illogical cuts from humor to seriousness are almost laughable. The story itself follows the VN almost wordfor word with the exception of a single scene which felt odd and out of place. To say that you would get much more content out of the Visual Novel than you would this OVA mirrors the opinion of every "The manga is better" believer out there, but in this instance it could not be truer. The art itself was interesting. For a new studio it seemed to do fairly well, but odd dips in quality combined with horrendous chibli forms turn it into a simple "Meh". Sound was once again almost note for note the same as the visual novel, so really no complaints there. The opening theme was nice but hardly catchy. Characters were another aspect I felt was crammed. Reviewing this from the perspective of one whose played all 3 visual novels is different from one who has only seen the OVA, but either way the characters seemed to fall flat. They simply lacked a personality beyond a few tropes, which is unfortunately becoming more and more common Despite all the negativity I may seem to be conveying, I genuinely enjoyed this OVA. It was a fun "Turn off your brain and watch cute catgirls do things" type of series that could hardly be called a waste of time. If you enjoyed the VN, like catgirls or are simply alone on a Friday night it's certainly worth a shot
I thought that nothing good could come out of Kickstarter - 99% of the shit from it is shit. Well, this is a great exception! I am a connoisseur of nekos (as any person remotely intelligent would be) and one of my 9999993940943094304934390 waifus is a neko: Chocola. Of course, as with most things, the VNs are better than the anime. The thing is though, the only big problems with the anime are the length (WAY too short) and the lack of sex scenes (THE BEST FUCKING PART!) Still, anything with nekos is great. I very much enjoyed this and hope that there will beother OVAs released for the rest of the series; I need my fix of nekos. In more easily understood words, what I think of this OVA is, NYAN NYAN NYAN GOJUJIN SAMA NYAN ONIISAMA CHOCOLA VANILLA NYAN DAISUKI DESOOOO NYAN NYAN NYAN.
First of all before you start reading this review, I need to tell you that this is coming from someone who loved the visual novels and was thoroughly excited for the release of this OVA so I admit, I am biased because I'm already invested in the characters. Now that I've said it, let's continue on to the review. Nekopara is a simple show about a man starting up a cafe together with his catgirls. It's a quick and simple set up that is easy to digest so the story of the show is of course, average/generic/simple however you want to call it. But in myopinion, some shows do shine with their simplicity and I believe Nekopara is one of those. If you're the type of person who just wants to enjoy a good catgirl OVA for an hour, then sit on your couch, turn this on and grab some popcorn. Next is art. While it may not be revolutionary, I believe that they truly captured the beauty of the visual novel and translated it into an anime very well. I have no complaints, they did a good job. For the sound, voices, sound effects etc. it's professional level so I'm mostly gonna talk about the soundtrack. Honestly, it's a hit or miss. Some people might like it like I did and some might find it obnoxious. The opening was fun and enjoyable, really fits the theme of the show while the ending was, not gonna lie forgettable. The characters of this show, while they may be dumb they are fun to watch and that's the beauty of it. I believe they captured the essence of the catgirl appeal very well. For Kashou, well most visual novel protagonist are inserts so being generic is to be expected. Although I'll still give it a plus since he has more personality now compared to the visual novel, at least the earlier installments in the series. Enjoyment. I had a lot of fun honestly. I've been waiting for this ever since it was announced before the funding began and it's everything I hoped for. It's a great bonus after playing the visual novels but that's all it is in my eyes, a bonus. If you want the full experience, I recommend the visual novels. Overall it was a fun show. Nothing too special but just a really great homage to the fans who supported it. 8/10
About Nekopara,OVA is great anime they worked hard on. It's was very fun anime to watch and i hope anyone who reads this will enjoy it same as i did. I wish i could tell you about story, art, sounds and music, characters, but i don't want to write any spoilers and i don't want my review get removed. I want you to know how i liked to watch Nekopara for first time on Christmas Eve. It's was very fun at beginning, catgirls called Vanilla and Chocola were amazing, cute and beautiful. As story goes,Kashou Minazuki moves out to open pastry shop 'La Soleil' and lots of stuff is happening that youcan read on synopsis of anime. Overall,Nekopara is one of greatest animes i watched. I liked romantic and emotional moments very much and there was lots of good things about Nekopara, from lots of cute catgirls to romance. It's amazing for anyone who is into anime with romantic, emotional moments that will make you cry like Angel Beats,Clannad/After Story and Plastic Memories. Also it's perfect for anyone who is huge fan of cute and beautiful anime girls like me since it's have cat girls ;) I know not everyone is liking it,but Nekopara is one of most expected animes of 2017,some may be happy, some disappointed because it's different from original work,no matter what, anime is amazing to me,and i wish that anyone will enjoy it as me,so please, have fun watching Nekopara! :)
"Man, if this had hentai..." I am a big fan of Nekopara. Really big fan of a fetish that's incomprehensible by normal humans. I bought all three volumes of nekopara in a heartbeat. When i heard of a new OVA in the works, I immediately jumped in joy, I even went and gave the last $10 of my wallet to this OVA. Fast forward two to three months later, on the perfect day of release, it finally came. Nekopara on christmas day. However after watching it, i have some doubts as to who this series is for and the production behind it. Lets take a lookat our review of Nekopara and see what went well and what didn't. - TL:DRs and conclusion at the bottom in case if it gets too wordy. Moving onto design, my first impressions were hopeful. The beautiful blue sky paired with lush green grass that brought out how bright and shiny the brand new cafe was immediately gave signs of great production. However a quick inspection when pausing the video immediately killed off any hype of Shaft making this. The cinematography was bad. Really bad. Panning reveals tons of jitter and stutter across vertical, horizontal and pulling. Normally I would overlook this section and write it off as fine if it only suffers from minor stutters (due to framerate, most commonly found in vertical pans) but this was so distracting throughout the 1 hour movie that I knew i had to write about it. My first conclusion was my bad internet or my bad computer, so immediately tried it on my desktop after re configuring the internet and it still posed such an issue. It felt less like a movie and more of a comic book flipped at high speeds every time it pans through chocola's face. POVs and Angles are fine, nothing too special to write about, with typical angles across the catgirl's faces without much variation. Character design was good but a few changes needs to be made. Outlines are sharp and edgy, especially across more complicated scenes like Vanilla's hair where her white hair paired with sharp edgy lines are extremely annoying for that one or two seconds. Smoother lines would be much appreciated. Clothes are well designed, still stayed mostly true with the original but certain aspects like how the clothes do not dull or darken when splashed with water or how the bells on their neck lack sparkle and bling, rendering it flat looking or how it lacks some texture at close examination. Hairs have good colour, i like how vanilla's hair isn't rendered as white but takes note of the yellowish lighting environment, giving it a sort of beige look but i would as per usual wish it had a bit more shine to it, instead of looking too monotonous, even when it isn't. Eye design is great, quite a lot of detail when focused on individual face and retains certain degree of shades even under further distances. Skin tones are perfect, giving off a nice reddish yellow glow rather than the eerie white skin tone that some are infamous for. A slight gribe would be, maybe make the skin tone slightly more pale when the person is sick, somewhat that guy looks very healthy. Moving over to architectural and environmental design, this is where it scores very well. Grass and skies look nicely saturated, brick tiles give off a beautiful red tone like it's brand new. I love how they made the cafe look brand new without resorting to HDR style look where they overexaggerate shadows and detail but instead just went to make the scene clean and bright, maybe some issues with how porcelain looks a bit dull. In fact I think it made literally everything brand new, which isn't bad per say. There's quite a lot of detail within these building and objects too. Lighting wise, well done. Afternoon light looks a tad bit romantic with the very very slight reddish tint with a warm hue, excellent work. Evening light just seems to exaggerate on the afternoon light but slightly darker, not an issue at all. Night lighting looks cool and fadish, perfect for an eerie scene, although i think it's a little too bright at some scenes like the town.I think the only scene that didn't quite do as consistently is in the aquarium scene, which imo is too reddish and would prefer skin tones to look a bit more green, and maybe slight dimmer. I think that's enough of design, moving to story, that's where this grading may go both ways. It's a great summary for a nekopara. It didn't add anything extra and that's good. However one big flaw that affects first time viewers is the lack of a story. It seems to jump around quite a lot, lacking direction, there's no story flow. It's hard to love nekopara if you can't really understand anything at all. This is bad to say since it feels so random and hard to keep track of and everything seems kind of boring with scenes like spending time in an aquarium or an amusement park. And as for a lot viewers out there who hoped for nekopara ova to be the volume 3.5 of nekopara, this is disappointing, since there's nothing new in here. A lot of the scenes could have done much better, like how they could hold on to the police scene much longer to hold suspense rather than poof, the owner somehow manages to run while feeling like shit. There was no development in the story at all but if what you are looking for is a summary, this is fantastic. Moving to character development, or the lack thereof, i say for first time viewers, unless you are a big fan of slice of life, and are used to cliche cute characters, this is going to be boring. The characters have no sense of elaboration and development, even the opening of the movie lacked any elaboration or introduction, at most a 10 second cut scene of a rainy day. If i were a first time watcher, i have a hard time having any further emotional connection or love for these characters. But I'm not. And as a huge fan of nekopara, I doubt there's any need for intros or development since I already knew who i liked most and knew who everyone is. I am already emotionally connected to them. And this serves as a further enforcement for my connection by just being able to see them. Edit: Yeah it seems fixed now so here's my edited review. Edit: Audio has been fixed, it sounds tons better. I originally complained about the sharp vocals and the lack of bass in anything but i corrected it. Now it veers towards a warmer tone now, at least no harsh treble and chocola and vanilla's voice is super warm, very smooth. It isn't as exciting as other animes in audio as those tend to have sharper crisper tone while this is a very smooth mellow tone. Frankly I like this a lot better as it's easier to listen to. Background audio is non existent and makes every scene sound dead. Even in the city, it felt like I was listening to it from a voice booth than being in the city. There is slightly worse separation in terms of vocals between male and female but I would gladly take that over the more fatiguing sound of a girl screeching and clawing my eardrums. And to be fair, you can still hear a difference, just a very very small quibble. Overall i love the sound style from the anime, it's just more comfortable to listen to for a one hour movie than most anime which i can barely watch for over twenty minutes. Good job. Visual novels has its flaws. It can't deliver action. Everything is a standstill, just a picture and lots of words. This anime and to its millions of booby jigglers, serves as a celebration to be finally able to see your characters smiling, dancing, walking about or even doing simple gestures. For all its flaws that i mentioned, all the way to its fundamentals, this is an anime i truly love. I do not care about the story, or the art or the sound. All i care is being able to finally see my favorite characters again. I hardly see $26 as a worthy investment to first time watcher, heck, i doubt this is worth $5. If nekopara is something you truly want to see take off, something you have spent hours on, this anime, in whatever form, will never be a disappointment. But if you want something different or if you are looking to buy into a very weird fetish, you are better served with the visual novel. Reviewer notes: - Cinematography is really bad, lot of jitter and stutter in panning - POVs are stale and lack variation - Artwork is mostly well done but certain features like outlining looks jarring - Story lacks direction and seems to be very random - Character has no development or intro (may not be as necessary depending) - Audio is very thin while lacking background audio for immersion
What's NEKOPARA? Why, it's a cat paradise! When I first found out about Nekopara it was probably in 2016. I was searching some weeb games on steam when I saw this game that had overwhelmengly positive reviews. Then I checked on the reviews and started laughing. The reviews are the best part of the game to be honest. I highly recommend reading some of the reviews on steam. About the ova : I like nekopara overall so I have some biasness towards it. I know it's not for everyone and everyone won't enjoy watching it. But as a fellow weeb I have to agree Ienjoyed it. The pacing wasn't that great but it's an ova so I don't have any complains. I will say just lay back and enjoy some neko girls and if you like it play the vn which is much better. Overall a solid ova. The story 7/10. art 10/10 Characters 8/10 (VANILLA is <3) Overall 7/10 solid ova with cat girls.
So what can i say? i love Nekopara visual novel but this anime.. Is not even Nekopara.. it shouldn't even be created in that way.. In anime Kashou is normal man who open a backery and hi is master for 2 catgirls wait what and we see some their storys in complete empty bakery? wait what!?! why this anime is for child... Really? I didn't know before i seen this anime it is possible to do this. Original Kashou is really perverted guy who is ykhym master with love intention to 6 cat girls.. and they called him master because he make all ofthem to be his lover.. and visual novel is adult game where we have all the perv scene in anime he only once grab Chocola breast and that's it.. Even the most important thing was cutted like scene where kid shouting in amusement park to Kashou and Chocola and Vanilla to her mother look they are a couple!in anime we dont see it.. Even where is the scene with the food stand? this is also important in series.. I fell like i was order fine and big expensive meal with frites, wine, steak in really expensive restaurant and got very small and not tasty meal and wine from local shop.. It should be second part or even third of this anime or just 18+ version.. not this for kid.. No one wanna see something like this after playing game. I give 10 because i love nekopara world and character not for this anime story.
This is better than evangelion, better than legend of the galactic heroes. THE BEST ANIME FROM THE HISTORY. Nekopara is a masterpiece of the animation, the salvation of the modern anime, an avant-garde and complex work with very human and intelligent characters. In terms of animation and art in general, it is much better than works like cowboy bebop, introducing us in a very immersive and original world, where cat girls must adapt to the circumstances that present themselves. The work presents themes such as abandonment, family and effort in a very realistic way and in 1 hour manages to transmit things that other animes can nottransmit in 20 chapters, it is a compulsory look if you even like animation. Finally we are facing one of the most remarkable and best-made jobs in history, YOU HAVE TO SEE IT
Its not that this ova is bad but after playing nekopara vol 1 and finally deciding to watch the ova based on it just makes it feel lacking. Many important aspects of the story where taken out completely to make it fit into a hour long movie format. If i had not played nekopara before it may be more enjoyable not knowing what i missed but honestly if you have not played it and are thinking about watching this I would just Play the visual novel instead the artwork in the VN is arguably better then it is in this ova.
ALERT! This review is my personal opinion. I do not in any way want to hurt anyone's feelings Also, this my first review. Don't be so mad on me When I first heard about Nekopara OVA, I was very happy. I thinking that so good visual novel must have so good anime adaptation. But I was wrong... Yeah, anime not bad at all, but if you previously played visual novel you can see that it much better than anime. It's looks like a short version of Vol. 1. I agree that there are many things that can not be shown in an anime, but... Much of theplot is missing, animation and sound are bad for 2017 and bad in comparison with the visual novel. Lot of chibis, and I personaly don't like it. In general, anime must be much better, but we have what we have. 5/10, not more
I watched season 1 before the OVA's and saw how devoid it was of emotion except between the partnered-up cats, so I expected nothing much. However, upon watching in many cases i noticed a personality transplant of most characters. Suddenly, characters were more warm, caring, dependent on their master as things revolved around chocola and Vanilla. Vanilla closed off into Chocola's shadow more, and chocola became the one who pushes foraffection more of the master. The difference was, Master responded, and even though he didn't want them at the bakery and was quite happy to leave them back with his sister, it pushed the idea of what the cats had been through, how much they trusted and loved him even if not romantically. They also suddenly became more mischievous and regularly rewarded with such affection which was absent from the series.. I am not going to say this is the greatest anime, it is drawn well, the sound is great with it, and the layout of the story is done better than with the series. However, watching it is like watching 2 different sets of cats with 2 different masters at stages. We see more cats with other masters in this, so it doesn't look like Master and his sister are the only ones with Catgirls, but for those ero hunters looking for something like the game, they will not get it, it's not going to get some sort of redo the healer sex scenes, but Neko lovers may prefer it over the series.
Never played the games....I mean-my boyfriend played it and we decided to watch the OVA, decided to keep an open mind, because why not? Throughout the OVA, I thought of it as a cute lifestyle genre anime with an adorable art style, because I'm that girl that happens to like cute shit. But, this OVA is more of directing the simple message " we'll always be there for you" or " I can do it ". Simple adorable OVA with simple message. It wasn't the greatest, but I'm not saying it was bad. It was more of a feeling of watching Animal Crossing movie. Speakingabout the game, my boyfriend did tell me about the steam versus the actual Japanese version??? He kept on making comments about that while we were watching it and he said it was more of the PG version. I If you love neko lolis.
In the beginning there where 4 sacred text's the Bible, Sutras, Torah and Nekopara. All of these have been given anime adaptations from saint young men, however, Nekopara the genesis of the Nekoism religion never got one for years until one day the prophets at Nekoworks announced the legendary sacred text was getting a one-shot OVA. The many sects of nekoists put aside their differences to fund the ova hoping to see their deity appear on screen and each and every one of the loyal nekoists had their dreams answered when the Nekopara OVA was released to critical appraise and has since been used in religious studiesclasses around the world to teach people about nekoism and its worshipers.
Video review for tl;dr purposes: https://youtu.be/LtcSMP0Ydfg The Nekopara OVA is nothing short of an absolute kickstarter success story in almost every respect. The initial goal of the campaign, put together by Sekai Project the American publisher, was to put together a 20 minute OVA for a shoe string budget of just $100,000 US. Yes that is considered a tight budget for that kind of project because the average episode of an anime is just as long and can easily cost three times as much. That first goal was met in a matter of hours and before long all of the stretch goals had beenmet except one. The final dollar amount was well over nine times the initial request and the slacker backer campaign ended with over a million dollars raised and the final stretch goal achieved. The magic of cat girls is truly limitless! So what did we get for our bits? Well the physical goods exceeded expectations but there were some bumps in the road. Tokyo Otaku Mode who supplied the goods shipped everything about a week earlier than they we supposed to which made the OVA launch on Steam four days ahead of scheduled. Not a bad thing in my opinion. And some of the names in the special thanks credits were accidently omitted, but they were put in with an insert and got some extra signed swag for their troubles. Again, very well handled by Sekai Project. So how about the work itself? Well, the OVA is . . . erm . . . a lot of things. We’re gonna have to really delve deep into this one. The plot feels rushed along quite a bit. I mean, we are trying to cram three visual novel volumes into what is essentially a one hour long movie. Making things seem a little bit more grounded though is the hour long OVA is divided into three distinct twenty minute sections. The first section was the initial kickstarter goal and the other two were set up to be the stretch goals. Throughout the OVA we follow Chocola and Vanilla as they tag along with Kashou Minaduki, their adoptive father . . . big brother . . . owner. Ehhh . . . it’s kinda weird. Anyway Kashou is opening up his own confection shop and the two cat girls get hired on as staff. Cute cat girl antics ensue. Throughout the process of learning the job MC protag guy constantly says things like “Cat girls can’t do that. Cat girls have to ignore their instincts.” Hell, Chocola and Vanilla can’t even go outside on their own, not until they pass “the bell exam” which means they get and ID saying they can freely travel on their own which is a literal bell around their neck, like cat girls are second class citizens or something. Perhaps I’m just some American PC soy cuck, but just bear in mind that Japan is a defacto Ethno-State so the idea of making foreigners wear some sort of obvious ID around their neck probably sounds really good to most people there. Anyway, one training montage later, Chocola and Vanilla pass their bell exam despite everyone saying how hard it was and only one in five ever pass, but we literally never get introduced to any other cat girls that haven’t passed the test. Anyway the show is just really standard slice of life tomfoolery with cat girls from your favorite visual novel brought to life in animation. Not much else to write home about. So what about the fundamentals? The music is good. . . it’s just good . . . it’s fine. The OP is lit and got stuck in my head instantly, but the background score is just passable at best. I should know, I got the OST in the limited edition box. To be fair, the music does a decent job of selling those cheap emotional crits earlier on in the show’s run time. The art style is gorgeous but that has a lot more to do with really good source material than anything else. The animation, however, is stale. I mean just check out coconut eating this cake, it literally just disappears. For one million dollars you might be expecting more. The average anime is way more fluid, the average anime costs $300k per 20 minutes, this is 60 minutes, so one million more than covers the costs. However, the animation studio was Felix Film who, according to MyAnimeList, only ever worked on A Good Librarian like a Good Shepherd before, so I’m not sure what most people were expecting. Honestly I think this OVA suffers from the same thing Hagania did: beautifully ornate striking character designs that just don’t translate well to animation because you’re just asking too much. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have its moments, because it certainly does, but they’re mostly reserved for comedy and ecchi bits and nothing else. So, there you have it: The Nekopara OVA was just so-so, and . . . that’s fine. It was serviceable, and it didn’t fuck anything up too badly. By and large, people seem to enjoy the product they got for the money they put up. And that. Is. HUGE. With this much money, this big of an intellectual property, and this many eyes on the situation, it is very important that this OVA turned out all right. The Nekopara OVA could have the same impact on the anime world as the Little Witch Academia 2 kickstarter project did. Both proved that anime can be crowd-funded and far exceed expectations: if done correctly. So long as studios keep making kickstarter projects and following through with making a decent product, anime is basically assured to continue on forever, regardless of the ever changing landscape of online streaming and TV broadcasts. The Nekopara OVA needed to succeed and it did. It wasn’t a world beater, but it gave people what they wanted, and that’s what counts. So go forth cute cat girls! Go forth and stand proud for you are the future of anime!!!
I have been seeing these Nekopara girls everywhere I go, whether it be memes or figurines. So I figured it's about time I see what all the hype is about. After watching it, I both understand, and don't understand why the hype has lasted so long. This series is certainly unique in the sense that it knows what its audience wants, and is full on unapologetically ballsy in giving it to them. Basically, it's the world if catgirls existed as a separate species, and you could legally own them. Which is a fun, cute, kinda "freaky", but equally as disturbing idea. I ain't shaming anybody for it,I can (and definitely do) dig it. But I also recognize that the show is so unique in how blunt it is about it that there's an underlying sense of discomfort - At least with me. Maybe I haven't reached that level of degeneracy yet XD The only way the show could be more blunt about it is if they openly said: "Oh yeah, you can **** them." This all being said, I'm not factoring my score on any of this. In fact I applaud the fact that it doesn't pander to the "politically correct crowd." I give it a 5 because it bets the entirety of the show on that single attribute. Outside of that single trait, there is literally nothing else to be found here. There is no plot, there is no character apart from tropes, there is no direction, there's nothing. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I definitely wouldn't call it good. It's the definition of nothing. It's as vanilla as vanilla can get. (Pun not intended)
before diving into the review i must add i did play all 4 games even volume 0 and i do love this series as a hole fore me its a good happy time for series relieve and just watching an actually entertaining moe show for a change that being sated for an OVA i did no expect it to be on pair with the game as this episode coves Vol 1 it does skip volume 0 unfortunately but for a promotional OVA for a full on anime series it does its job and it does it great in terms of story its a bit shortened thanthe full volume and squeezed for time i kind of expected it if its not a full on 12 or more series and they do skip the romance that is kind of disappointing as it did play a big roll in the game but i think its fine in this situation as play it for full moe and kind of a master pet relationship between the main leads its staying away form a romance for now thou it doesn't really work with 2 of the cat girls personalities this way but hopefully if we do get a full show they will expand on that as it is kind of a major deal in the over all plot and with out it for most people it might be a average story for turning your brains off and just enjoy cute cat girls doing cute things with a bit of drama the art was good nothing that special but serviceable thou the characters again do feel more alive in the game than in the anime but if you haven't played it before it wont feel that way the sound is awesome it portrait the cuteness of the anime no complain there its the same as the game ever all i love this show but i do want to see its full story unfold in anime format as it is now i get a better anime feeling from the game out of its animation style than the actual anime but what can you do still a good dose of nekos is a good dose of happiness regardless
I was not expecting anything good from this OVA, the first time that I knew that this thing are going to see the sunlight, I knew that aren't going to be a good anime, and for the best thing that it could aspire is for a mediocre OVA with no pretentiousness and completely forgivable. But here it is, Nekopara it's a terrible anime, it's all about of the things that doesn't do actually. Let's talk about of biggest flaw here, the characters are absolutely horrendous, every single one of them are unidimensional characters, with zero character development, going straight in a railway to the nothing. Allthe catgirls including, Chocola and Vanilla can be described with a single word, and the others only responds to a typical stereotype that were seen in a lot of times in different media, despite of this, there's a lot of the catgirls that shares stereotypes traits with other ones. World building it's a very bad-"good" thing, because across of the whole story, it is established that catgirls has been existing for a while, and the vast majority can learn things to be more like human and even work, there also criminal catgirls that are never shown but are mentioned, the collar thing would be a good point to show if it were not for the fact that you can evidence that catgirls educated by protagonist sister are educated enough for work avoid natural behaviors, but despite this, they are still doing very basic cat behavior stuff which are used only for comedy scenes, giving you the sensation that those catgirls aren't still suitable for a human life. I'm very disappointed of art, don't get me wrong, the artists behind Nekopara are very talented people and all, but in anime format, it was very, very static, and the backgrounds were static and undetailed too, there isn't any ugly deformation in any frame, but it looks very limited to come from those artists and a big foundation in that money regards. I don't have anything to say about sound, it was adequate and fine. The story ends like it starts, in nothing, the biggest event happened in the whole hour was the catgirls going to a drugstore to try to help his master. But that is, everything else was a side things to accommodate what happens next, in the game this is better despite the fact that they are the same history. This kind of story works better in a visual novel, It has more detail and things like the H-Scenes, what out of any sexual related thing, was important for the "developing" the relation between the master and his catgirls, scenes that was skipped in the OVA, at the end of the day you got a empty story with nearly nothing happening and a bunch of trash characters. Nekopara is a terrible anime, with nothing to tell, empty characters and a miserable story.
Id would first like to say here that i have Vol.1 (haven't really played it probably for like a good hour) as for vol.0 and 2 i haven't even played them yet (even though i have them) and i don't have 3 yet actually so im kinda in a sense not familiarly with the Vn's in a sense but lets get into the review Story: i mean the story is pretty much that Kashou and Shigure find Chocola and Vanilla in a box and they decide to take them in and Kashou opens a bakery called La Soleil he has Chocola and Vanilla help around andstuff as well ( i would say like many others that the story is kinda random but its decent). Art: the art is really good from the characters to the backgrounds to the animation they are all really good here. Sound: The OP her is pretty good as for the ED is its decent (i personally didn't pay attention to it sense the anime was just showing the credits at the end) but for the VA they were really good for the roles and none of them disappointed me at all. Character: Kashou is the owner of La soleil and well owns Chocola and Vanilla otherwise hes a pretty nice and chill dude. Chocola is one of the female leads and well she is a pretty up and happy person also just really cheerful and well really loves her master like the other girl. Vanilla is well she really doesn't show a expression as much as Chocola but she is pretty quiet and well nice as well. Enjoyment: What i liked: the comedy in this was actually pretty good and also that i liked the OP here also that the characters and also the VA's here were really good. What i didn't like: i mean even though i said the comedy is good there are sometimes when it isn't funny but i mean that really my only real complaint about and well maybe the fact that this isn't a full anime. Overall: im giving this a 7 it was pretty good the comedy again is pretty well done and i did enjoy this OVA it was pretty good i would give this OVA a shot if you loved or have played the Vn's or just love cat girls.
This anime was used from a visual novel series with the same name, they have a similar story line but it is changed a little and squished in, if they used their skills of re-creating this anime the way they did (which i say was well done) it could've turned out to become a series of a 12 episode anime, instead of an OVA of the novel. i don't completely hate this OVA, but it could of been done different, which i would've liked, but overall it still has the same enjoyment. Now this OVA is cute, and funny, but for how short it is, it maynot tickle you enough, for those of you who love nekos/cat-girls then you will explode in seconds, like i did (no joke, i lost my voice from screaming with joy) im not great at explaining things so ill just say this, You will love it, even if its short and wont tickle you as much it would have if done longer, its still overall a very good OVA, pretty enjoyable and understandable (im sorry for those who read this, this is my first time writing a review and i chose this one for how much i love the visual novel im trying to abide by the "no spoilers" rules, but its hard to tell you how good it is without disobeying it, but you will adore it, like i do)
