Shi Miao simply cannot stand her lazy, stupid, and unreliable elder brother Shi Fen, who is one year above her at the same high school. Though the two siblings can only depend on each other, Shi Miao's violent tendencies combined with Shi Fen's knack for causing trouble cause them to fight constantly. And so, Shi Miao can only hope that someone might take her brother away—even though, when push comes to shove, Shi Fen always tries to do what he believes is best for his cute younger sister. I thank whatever superior entities exist in this universe for bestowing upon me the good luck of stumbling upon "Take my Brother Away". My score: 9/10 What it deserves: 7/10 Why the high score? This is a very short series, each episode lasting 3 minutes. Altogether, this comes to a slightly longer regular episode length. So one can think of it as an OVA. It is so rare these days to find a show based on siblings without there being any semblance of some sort of romantic interest in one another. In other words, siblings being SIBLINGS. It was extremely refreshing. The characters themselves each have their innate personalities, which showup time and again, but not without exceptions, where any change makes perfect sense. Having siblings myself, the dynamics between the two I find quite accurate XD. The art is simple, yet quaint, and entirely endearing. In fact, this was a huge factor into why I enjoyed it so much. Added with wonderful voice talents (Yuuichi Nakamura, Sora Amamiya, god bless you both for your performances T^T) and up beat OST (Brian the Sun!!), the entire show came together beautifully. I cannot stress enough: if you're in need of comedy, simple slice of life store development and siblings acting like siblings, watch. This. Thank you
In this anime, you'll find siblings relationship that you can actually relate to, instead of the "imouto" type of characters that go ultra-moe around their "onii-chan". And that isn't the only thing this short anime offers. PLUS: - Good comedy. - The art and animation look fair enough for a short anime. And interesting character designs. - Nakamura Yuichi and Amamiya Sora as two MCs. More than enough for a comedy show. MINUS: - The color scheme is kinda plain. Make it looks like it's some kind of a flash-animation. - This thing is for fun only so there are no plot to be expected. And here're some wisdom: "What is more important, pride or food!?" "Food!!" My, I'm gonna live by those words.
Please Take my Brother Away is a classic sibling war between an annoying older brother and violent little sister - a simple concept well executed in the form of top notch comedic timing, funny character interactions and relatable humor that any sibling themselves can enjoy. To me at least, this is the best comedy of the Spring season and is worth checking out for the concept and low time commitment alone. "Hidden gem" is a term thrown around too loosely these days, but with less than 10k total members for the funniest anime of the season, it certainly applies here. My only real issue is thelack of additional episodes to explore the concept even further, but if more people watch the anime and support the source material then that problem should take care of itself.
An Anime/Manhwa about "Actual" Sibling relationship without any "Romantic Feelings" between them. Very surprising right in this world of animes? and not only that, You actually can relate if you have a sibling and a similar type of friends in this story. It's pretty amusing about their relationship, especially both of them grown up and not very distance age. the brother quite troublesome while the sister try her best to eat ton of bs action from her brother decision. they fight here and there just like any siblings, but they will end up like it's nothing in the next day! (even though a new problem willarise each day) Enough said, go check it out and stop reading reviews!
A final review of Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! (It may contain some spoilers, so be aware of it): ================================ "Siblings are the people we practice on, the people who teach us about fairness and cooperation and kindness and caring, quite often the hard way." - Pamela Dugdale Some people would say that 'the more you are fighting with each other, the more you are in a close relationship'. In a good way, that's quite true. It is because it serves as 'awkward-like' indirect communication to show some intimacy interactions to other people, just like a fight between siblings. Well, some of it might misinterpret that kindof fighting between siblings... Maybe you know what I meant here... Based from a Chinese manhua, 'Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!' is a short anime show on Spring 2017 that portrays the typical relationship between siblings named Fen (older brother) and Mao (younger sister) who always engaging this 'sibling fight'. Despite of Fen's mischievous behavior towards her younger sister Mao, he really cares about her sister. Well, not to the point that on that kind of situation that you can be viewed on a typical siscon/incestous anime show *coughs*. Personally-speaking, this anime is a 'hidden-gem' that must be discovered by an anime fan. With a touch of comedy, slice-of-life, school genre that gives harmony and balance to the enjoyment factor of the show. Moving on, the plot-line of this show seems very interesting as an anime fan. As I mentioned above, it is a well-balanced show. According to the story of the show, they are poor and Fen (older brother) struggled to manage his responsibilities as an older brother who tend to take care of her younger sister's needs. Even though they fight with each other because of some several reasons, it is somehow shown that they care with each other when someone of them needs a help. There were also comedic scenes like those fights between siblings that are very good, in terms of comedy factor. Some scenarios are also very situational to a scenes with a slice-of-life genre. In terms of technicalities, there were some problems on how they allotted the story because of the limited time and episodes but it is still understable and enjoyable to watch. In terms of art, it is quite good and has this kind of vibe that you can be seen on other chinese-based anime shows. I'm not really familiar on the animation studio named Fanworks who made the animation of this show, but that animation studio (based from MAL database) made also some short anime shows that were also quite good, in terms of art quality. The VAs in this anime show are suprisingly well-casted like Nakamura Yuuichi and Amamiya Sora who were quite popular because of the high quality performance they provided in different anime titles. Furthermore, the opening song from an band/artists named Brian The Sun was also a great choice because they are also quite popular on providing songs on different anime titles. The characters are also well-made and some of them have those kind of 'archetypes' you've encountered on another anime titles. The main characters are quite realistic, specially to their lifestyles. Furthermore, a theory named Individual Psychology by Alfred Adler would also tell the siblings' lifestyle were being influenced by the birth order. In relation to that, Fen (the older brother) tends to have more responsiblity to take care of his younger sister Mao, despite of his mischievous personality/behavior. Mao, who is the younger sister wants to be spoiled on her needs but they are poor, so the responsibilities of Fen became more burden to him. Because of that kind of realistic touch on the personalities of both siblings, the development of the story is also quite interesting. In terms of enjoyment factor, it is very entertaining to an anime fan who enjoys slice-of-life shows. As I've mentioned above, the comedic situation between siblings is quite relatable because of its realistic touch on some scenes. You can also watch this show in one-sitting, so there is no major reason to not be relaxed or enjoyed while watching this show. Overall, this show is really a 'hidden-gem'. Once you've found it, you will discover its greatness. For those who have siblings or even without siblings, you can really watch this just to enjoy the experience of having a close sibling. I really hope that I've encourage someone to watch this show. Also, for those who have already watched this show, please encourage them to watch it. ================================ Technical Score: 7.5 Bias/Personal Score: 8 Final Score: 7.75 ≈ 8 ================================
Hey, an anime where the younger sister isn't romantically interested in the aloof big brother...what is this... A Chinese Cart- Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! is an anime short adapted from a Chinese web manga just with Japanese voice actors and to say that this anime short was bite-sized comedy with a "bit" of plotline featuring the two siblings. So the two siblings, they are Shi Fen voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura, the aloof big brother who mostly gets violently "handled" by his younger sister Shi Mao voiced by Sora Amamiya, who has a crush on Shi Fen....'s friend Kai Xin voiced by Kensho Ono, who ismuch like Shi Fen is aloof but he's waaay more ditzier than Shi Fen is. But mostly Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!'s comedy comes from Shi fen's aloofness and Shi Mao beating the shit out of him when he pisses Shi Mao off, add in a small romance plotline that really is used for "misunderstanding purposes" and we have the majority of the anime short. There is ONE other focused character, that of Wan Sui voiced by Natsuki Hanae, a rich ojou transfer student who wants a normal life, but he gets found out that he's rich by the two idiots Shi Fen and Kan Xin. Miao Miao voiced by Chitose Morinaga, Shi Mao's best friend and she might as well be a satellite character to Shi Mao really. The animation done by Fanworks and Imagineer were...decent all things considered as the animation style made it look like a web manga taken form and considering that the anime short is character-centric, the character designs are pretty decent as well, distinct and consistent. Backgrounding was ok as well but somewhat forgettable, expected but forgettable. Really decent animation all round and consistent. The voice cast were great, yes eve the hyper-sqeaky Chitose Morinaga as Miao Miao, but nonetheless. Sora Amamiya and Yuuichi Nakaura were great respectively ESPECIALLY Sora Amamiya, she was pretty much like Aqua but the ability to beat the hell out of the Kazuma-like protagonist and sounded like Sora Amamiya had fun with the role and finally Kensho Ono did the ditzy, aloof Kan Xin quite well as well. Great voice cast really. Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! was a pretty funny sibling comedy about the daily lives of these siblings, be it the big brother finding ways to get food through his younger sister somehow, to the younger sister having a crush on her big brother's best friend, but generally the younger sister beating the crap out of her big brother and the sibling bond as violent and polarizing as they are, they do genuinely feel like...you know, the actual typical siblings.
I didn't mind the artstyle and especially because it's a short anime. I actually liked it a bit. I love the voice actors of the two main characters (the voice of Tatsuya from Mahouka and Aqua from Konosuba), but the synopsis was misleading. The brother doesn't have redeeming qualities and the violent is a bit overboard. If I were to send myself a message before watching the show it'd be (skip episodes 2-5). I may be nitpicking but it's my own review and in all my review I make it clear that it's a subjective review not an objective one. Anime should be enjoyable andI didn't enjoy this anime much, but I can see how others would. It's better to watch episodes 1-3 (total of 10 minutes) and judge if you'll continue or not
Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! (Take my Brother away) Good animation for an Anime with episodes that last 3 minutes each. Enjoyable comedy. No plot, just plain comedy, but funny. I have seen this on other reviews, and i agree, the color scheme was kind of boring. Overall 8/10 I give it that because for such a short anime that this is i enjoyed watching it, it was funny and it didn't take a lot of time to finish.Short and simple, if you are looking for a short enjoyable, funny Anime to watch, you should watch Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!
Really liked the animation style, very good expressions. They are cute short stories and I enjoyed it more than other anime I have watched with 3-ish minute episodes because the story is continued over multiple episodes rather than random shorts. Of course, there are random cuts in the story but it is still enjoyable. I'm sure this would be a relatable relationship to people with siblings. There were a few scenes that actually made me laugh, the story isn't deep or anything, its all very light-hearted fun which was nice to watch for a few minutes out of the day.
As someone who had read the original manhua before watching the anime, I want to explain to someone saying that the summary is "misleading" -- It's not, the summary is for the freaking manhua, jerk.In the manhua, Shi Fen/Minuto is a little more mature because there are touching scenes like when he had to borrow money to compensate as Secondra accidentally hit a kid, or when their parents got divorced and he comforted her saying he would not leave her alone. Also, although Secondra is a strong girl, she also wanted to play princess but she had no friend at the time, so Minuto alsoacted like a prince for his sister.
This is the type of sibling dynamic I wanna see! Not those uncomfortable forced ones we always see in other anime. I'd like to keep this review nice and short. I have an older brother that's 9 years older than me and we often have fights. But I love him regardless. This show is so, as much as I hate this word, relatable. It perfectly describes my dynamic with my brother. Another show with a nice dynamic is Umaru-chan, because I'm that perfect younger sister who's amazing outside, but inside the house, I'm a filthy degenerate that stays up late and lazes around. The older brotherputs up with his sister's shit, and does everything. Well, I'm not that lazy anymore, but my brother said he dropped the show because Umaru reminded him too much of me. I appreciate this show a lot. It's nice and short with no real plot, but the animation, art and story-telling is fun. I like it a lot. And of course Brian The Sun as the opening... gold. I hope to see more of this wholesome sibling anime, because there are too many times I didn't enjoy an anime because of a forced brother's complex... Little sisters don't depend that much on their older brother. It's just uncomfortable because I would never depend on my brother like that. Teenagers don't think like kids... they don't believe they're going to marry their older brother when they're older. That's just uncomfortable and creepy.
(TLDR at the bottom) I watched this some time ago but never wrote anything for it at the time due to planning to release reviews for all 4 seasons that currently exist all at once, but that might be very troublesome knowing how fast I get with anime. Oh well, here's a short review. It's an episodic SoL that features siblings behaving in the way siblings would usually behave. Being annoying, terrible communication, getting at each other and all the rest of it. It's something that anime is seemingly incapable of doing from time to time, so I guess we just leave that to donghua. Everything heremakes sense. From the time at school to time at home to just about anything really, the two come across as real people all in all. I suppose it is a little more exaggerated with Shi Miao being the stronger of the two, but hey, comedy is needed somewhere. It all works out to create this—albeit not unprecedented—comedic and wholesome love-hate relationship (it's more love than hate by the way). Individually, Shi Miao behaves as a typical high school girl would: she has crushes, she gets annoyed at her brother, she has friends to talk about things like crushes too, I'm sure you know the whole book of high school girls' law if you've ever interacted with one; be assured, it checks out here. The same is true for Shi Fen, hanging out with his bro, doing dumb nonsense, you know how this goes, and yes, it all checks out with him too. Could say the same for the side characters but they are more there to keep up with the main guys, as they don't have the most personality to them other than being a slightly eccentric friend. It's whatever though. The production here is kinda lame. It's like, partly animated. You have the model and you just move it a bit to make it seem animated. This is not always the case, but there was something about watching this that made me feel the production to it was very lazy. What I have described is just it. Sometimes it would kill a funny moment but for the most part, this was all pretty liveable. It's just a shame coming from a good-looking manga into something more low-quality, but it happens. Just not to a greatly noticeable extent like this. ————— TLDR Review: Good comedy between very real siblings in a very real place. Just the animation is a little sucky. Worth the time if you are down for some shorts. ————— That's pretty much all I have to say about this. Anyone could enjoy it if they don't have the highest standards in the world, but I'd personally recommend reading the original thing since it is organic over there compared to this adaptation, but people don't really like reading it seems. This is very time-efficient however, with 3-min episodes; whatever floats your boat.
Easy to binge, each three minute episode is comedy filled. Siblings being siblings, with the younger sister being more violent than most are. The opening is made up of fading, weirdly paced scenes from the episodes, so the opening is skippable and short. It's music isn't really a redeeming factor either. The art style fits the short, quick paced tone of the episodes, the characters are well done for such a show, and it's not painful to watch! I watched this in the japanese dub, and the voice acting was great. Overall, there isn't much to say about this show, it's just hilarious and easy towatch, especially during office breaks.
I recommend this anime if you just wanna see some comedy stuff. This anime is pretty short (about 3-4 min per episode), so I recommend this if you're just looking for some short comedy anime you can binge in like 1-2 hours. The animation style is cool and the art style is great. The sound wasn't really anything special. The characters were a bit realistic and relatable, which made it fun to watch. The only bad thing for me is that some episodes were a bit boring and it came to the point where I considered dropping it. But I'm glad I picked it up becauseit was overall a funny, light-hearted anime. I'll give this anime a 8/10.
It's a very simple anime. Since each episode has 3 minutes, it's quick to watch and even better to pass time, it has lots of funny parts so there's no reason to not enjoy a show like this. The characters are unique and they are written quite well, especially since it's a comedy. Every interaction is funny and the development over the episodes only adds to it. The art style it's cute and has exaggerated reactions, which also helps with the funny parts. Overall, it's not the most amazing comedy anime ever, but it's also not the worst. It doesn't have much to it, but everythingthat proposes it's done nicely and it's a good show if you just want to watch anything funny.
I don't think I've watched a property like this before-- with the very short runtime (around 4 minutes each episode) and limited animation-- this is more like a web original project type of thing than a proper 'anime,' I guess. The characters are basic, almost one-note, in their characterization. What saves it is the hilarious, and quite honest, depiction of sibling relationships. They bicker, they nag, they never want to pay anything for the other, and add in a dash of physical violence with the martial arts-practicing younger sister against her meek older brother. I think there are 2 more seasons of this, which I am notloathe to finish off, even if the enjoyment factor is closer to watching a Youtube clip for me than I necessarily would have for an anime, if that makes sense.
Coming out of the pencil of the twins You.Ling, 快把我哥带走 or Take my brother away is the animated adaptation (with different entities involved) of a famous ongoing and hilarious web manhua that greatly reproduces the structure of what in Japan is the 4-koma, 4 funny panels that end with a joke. Our twins, do not use four panels but a few more to tell the story of Shi Fen (時分) and Shi Miao (時秒), brother and sister extremely different. Generally, the adaptations from the 4-koma are complex to be managed especially if they go to base themselves on fast jokes. Luckily for this short anime (just underfour minutes per episode, including the intro and outro), we have Rarecho (ラレコ) charismatic director behind the iconic Aggretsuko. His direction is brilliant and fast, does not let breath and makes every moment lovable. Shi Miao with her endless energy - a gorilla according to - his brother Shi Fen skilled opportunist and useless human (and to what seems not even an intelligent one!) live their daily lives and shenanigans surrounded by friends. I've seen both dub versions, both Chinese and Japanese. To be honest, I found the whole Chinese version superior to the Japanese one, even for cultural references. I noted for example that the Japanese version in some passages changed the dialogues by eliminating things that were not maybe suitable for their audience. An interesting example is the episode of the "Grand Buffet". In that episode couples (we are on Valentine's Day) have a huge discount for a restaurant's buffet, Shi Fen then tries to convince her sister to pretend to be a couple in order to spare. Shi Fen: "What is more important moral integrity or buffet?" Shi Miao: "Moral integrity." The Japanese, for example, have changed "Moral integrity" to "Pride", but the bulk of the change is when Shi Miao refuses by telling to her brother: "Go with your right hand to the buffet", an obviously sexual joke that in the Japanese version becomes "Go with someone else". There are also references to Chinese socialism sometimes that were cut in the Japanese version. Chinese dub also works as tone and rhythm and personally, I found it better (it must also be said that I study Chinese Mandarin thus I am accustomed to the language). Speaking of language, finally, I want to mention that the donghua is also available with subtitles in simplified Chinese and given the paucity of dialogues it can be a great way for those who are studying the language to practice reading ideograms. Ultimately an excellent product currently in its fifth season, and the You.Ling sisters prove to be absolute masters (I strongly recommend reading their suspense Manhuas - they are incredible). Nice, fresh and fast.
It was so funny, I was giggling throughout the whole thing and I'm so happy there's other seasons. The anime is really entertaining, and it makes me wish I could also have the same obnoxious sibling relationship... There are no boring parts in my opinion, and some shows being "boring" is a big reason as to why people dislike some series, so there's none of those here lol. The art is really cute in my opinion, it doesn't really give off the sort of Japanese anime feel and it still keeps it's own donghua aesthetic to it. The characters aren't all that special looking, but they stillhave their charm and I think Shi Fen is really cute. If you want something to laugh at this should be your go-to, because I was pissing myself throughout the entirety of the episodes. The opening is done by Brian The Sun, that's literally a huge W right there, and as for the OST I really do not remember anything that stuck out so I have nothing to say about it sadly. Twas good. 8/10.
What is this anime? Full-on episodic comedy. Very short episodes. Dumb loser brother does things that annoy sister. Sister uses martial arts to beat him up. (maybe he likes it?) Brother gains friends throughout series that share in his dumbness. Hints of romance here and there. Did I enjoy it? It very much tickled my fancy. Running gags aren't used too often are used in different ways. They make good use of the three minutes in each episode. It actually works well as a fast-paced comedy. Although very episodic, it has a running story through the series where he meets new people who get involved with his shenanigans.Made me LOL at times.
