Subaru Ichinose loves his cockpit as, to him, it's like being in his mother's womb. Whenever he struggles to converse with his fellow pilots, his cockpit is the one place he can be alone. As the ace pilot aboard the Tiramisu, Earth Union's most important battleship, it is his job to defend Mother Earth from the threats that emerge from humanity's extended dominion spreading throughout the vast reaches of the universe.
Armed with his personal mecha Durandal, Subaru must fend off encroaching foreign colonies as he struggles to protect his personal sanctuary from rogue fried pork skewers, suffocating backwards shirts, and unsolicited redecorations. In the year Space Age 0156, the fate of humanity rests entirely in his hands.

Tiramisù begins as a rather aimless compilation of comedic skits that range from pretty damn hilarious to mildly chuckle-inducing; it ends pretty much the same way. The disappointing part is that somewhere in the middle they toyed around with introducing something reminiscent of an actual plot.I was genuinely interested to see what the show had to offer following the mid-season story developments. Unfortunately, the crew never quite figured out what to do with it. Uchuu Senkan Tiramisù isn’t bad as is, provided you like the crude, dumb type of humor. For better or worse, it never lets itself get too serious. I just can’t shake thefeeling, though, that it could have been so much better.

When you first hear of Uchuu Senkan, what series springs into mind...Yamato, right? I mean, the series has countless sequels, movies and the like! But what if I told you there's ANOTHER Uchuu Senkan, and it's this one heck of a derivative? You might be thinking: "It's another cash cow, not gonna watch it, one of the worst anime of the season...and such!" Strap in your individual seat, and get ready to fight in an alternate Space Era! The year is Space Era 0156, when all humanity has extended it's life from the Earth and also now resides in space...where a war breaks out in typicalfashion. Enter Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu, the one space battleship called forth to defend the human race, and it's genius yet salty pilot, Subaru Ichinose, who's leading the charge in his Durandal mech to be the new ray of hope for humanity...but not without some OCD treatments first!
First of all, this is a short of 7 mins, so if you want to enjoy this short series, don't take everything seriously! Because Subaru the MVP will knock you out of your senses as he tries to do things his way...from eating in the cockpit to caring about his pubic hair, anything goes the mile ahead for our saviour of a pilot!
The VAs for the characters was splendid, the icing on the cake, from the staff at Tiramisu to his own brother Isuzu, who has retaliated from Tiramisu to be his own entity, fighting against his own brother, making the comedy look more rounded and subtle. Not to mention the gags are funny, and don't expect a story here also, because that's not what you are here for, right?
Gonzo's sprinkles on the art and animation is good, and it's very clear that they do this out of context and fills in the gap with outrageous but clever tactics that resonate with the characters and the settings, and it's just so good.
The music may be minimal, but helmed by Subaru's VA (Kaito Ishikawa) for OP and ED, it's very true to the overall substance of the show, and while short, it's nothing short of good.
Of all the shorts you could have this season, this is one of the good ones, so try it out, it will freak you out of your senses and engage your funny bones.

I was sent this anime randomly today. I expected some boring crap that took itself far too seriously. I was very bored and just wanted something to watch. Anything would do. And then BAM!! This was sent to me and boy do I not regret binging on this and ignoring all of the other responsibilities that I need to do right now. This anime had me legit CRYING and screaming because I am an emotionally unstable drama queen. I felt so well represented by these beautiful characters. Story: 8 The stories are episodic and make no sense whatsoever and I LOVED them.Art: I am a sucker for the art style they chose. It is reminiscent of Space Dandy and anything that has to do with space is automatically gorgeous to me.
Sound 9: I don't mind the music. Its okay I guess I just LOVE the voice acting. I was watching the dub and a lot of times dubs don't embody the characters well but this one definitely did!
Character 10: I am vain and love that I am thoroughly represented by these mentally unstable characters. I spent the majority of time screaming ME! SAME! and THAT IS SO ME! Subaru is crazy and his brother is a diva. Vulgar is the stereotypical jock but I love him so much. I love all of the characters.
Enjoyment 10: I enjoyed this anime a little too much
Overall: 10 This anime speaks to me in volumes. If you are tired of mecha animes that take themselves faaaar too seriously with emo protagonist that drone on and on in self-important monologues then try this out. You won't regret it. This anime is a breath of fresh air.

I turned this on at random, deciding to check out some new anime, and I watch the first episode. It is so incredibly bad, that I immediately head back to MAL, drop it, give it a bad score and start looking for something else to watch. I couldn't really settle on anything, and the second episode of this anime was still up on my tab, so I decide: "Meh, it's only 5 minutes. I'll give it one more chance.". I end up binging the entire thing in one sitting. The first episode was absolutely terrible. I can see why thishas only a mid 6 rating. I imagine many viewers saw the length, and the stupidity of an anime that seemed to focus on a guy trying to eat a bento in his cockpit, and decided to check out. But, after that stinker of a first episode, the anime really finds its footing and becomes absolutely hilarious. It's weird as hell, but it's absolutely hilarious.
If you like absurd and off the wall parodies, you'll love this if you give it a shot. It's about as absurd as it gets. The MC is pretty much mentally ill and struggling with OCD and Anti-Social disorder. As such, he's obsessed with staying in his cockpit as much as possible, because the rest of the crew irritates him. The story revolves around this and throws a series of bizarre plot drivers into each episode to make it interesting. There are talking pubes, giant space chihuahuas and back-of-the-hand rice. That makes no sense right? I agree. But, it's still funny as hell.
As funny as it is, being only a 7 minute episode scene (Really 5, minus the OP and EP) it clearly is going to have serious flaws. There's no plot to speak of. They try throwing a little into it midway, but it's pretty flimsy as plots tend to be in absurdist comedies. It's a space mecha anime, but don't expect great fights. There is some fighting, but the majority of the anime is focused on setting up the jokes. There's zero depth to the cast at all. All of them are pretty much cliches built for no other reason than to set up the jokes. Fortunately, the jokes are very funny.
This anime was truly a surprise for me, and I think if you can power past the first episode, you'll enjoy it. But, only if you think you'll enjoy an absurd gundam parody. If you haven't watched a lot of space mech animes, you should probably pass on this. You'll probably not get any of the comedy in this.
