When Chiaki Oogaki and Aoi Inuyama start the Outdoor Activities Club at their school, it is only the two of them and an array of ambitious plans. Things do not change much even after a new member—Nadeshiko Kagamihara—joins. And yet, the cheerful, cozy atmosphere seems to bring many curious visitors to their small headquarters. As the three girls set out on a camping trip to Australia alongside their friends Rin Shima and Ena Saitou, an unexpected incident turns the relaxing event into quite an adventure. These Yuru Camp specials are quite magical addition to the anime series. The first one is about our girls browsing through camping gears and getting shocked over how pricey everything is. This is perfect because they try to find cheaper alternatives from every day items instead of spending shekels. Turns out this idea isn't very succesfull in terms of camping, but it sure does it job with cute comedy that might make an adult man giggle. The 2nd focuses on several different subjects. The best one being all sort of different camping styles from chill and relax to the more hardcore bushcraft survivor and hunting, followed by different styles that don't actually exist in real life. These new styles are so ridiculously funny that they might make an adult man giggle. Our 3rd special is more lengthy, being half of an episode long in duration. This special introduces several new aspect and comedic approach that would not be expected of Yuru Camp. The catch being that this is the pinnacle of the entire series. I don't even wish to spoil any of it as it's Greatness that should be witnessed by all, and will make an adult man giggle. I recommend these specials to everyone who wants to get their soul cleansed repeatedly in 5 minute periods (x4) as our shorts are indeed more consistently pure and haato waamingu than the actual tv series was. There is also weird moe faces shown approximately every 3 seconds which further makes me want to call this thing a smiling simulator.
The specials include three episodes: Every episode is different, so I am gonna talk about every episode individually. Episode 0 It's simply how Aoi and Chiaki got the clubroom. It has some nice backstory for Chiaki and some funny jokes, but it is probably the weakest of the three episodes. Not all jokes land and it is overal not on par with the usual quality of the show. Still you should watch it, just for Chiaki's backstory Visuals alone. Episode 1 Nadeshiko's inteligence is here tested. This has some really funny jokes and the end joke was probably my favoriteof all the specials. It doesn't really add anything, but it gives me a good laugh. Also mini Aoi is there, so it is must watch. Episode 2 Without a doubt the best of the specials. It is also the longest, while the other are around 6 minutes long, this episode is double that. The girls go on camping in Australia, but after a misunderstanding they land in a unhabited Island. Now they have to survive and maybe even have fun surviving. The Visuals are pretty, the jokes are funny and it is a nice change of scenery. If you are going to watch any of the specials, then you should absolutely watch this one. Conclusion The specials are nice. I didn't had high hopes for them, but it genuinely surprised me how good they were. If you liked Yuru Camp and you want more of it, it doesn't hurt to watch the specials.
Grab your tent, some marshmallows, and get ready for more camping with Yuru Camp! These specials are very similar to the main series, but shorter, first 2 episodes are about 5 minutes long and the 3rd one is 12. They serve as simple add-ons to the main series, if you will. Each episode is about them hanging out, either that be by camping, or playing on the beach to mention a few. Not much has changed about the characters, they're the same as they were in the main series. Production values are still good, the girls are cute and we've got some of the nice OST fromthe series in the background. If you're a fan of the main series, then by all means watch these, as they're just more of the good stuff.
Story 10/10 Art 10/10 Sound 10/10 Character 10/10 Enjoyment 10/10 Not much i can talk about this special, because they are literally just as same as their main anime. Same characters, same places, same atmosphere, the difference here is just they're shorter. In here they give us a story that we didn't get in the main anime. The story here is just focused on the 5 main characters of Yuru Camp. This is basically an extra laughing stock because every episode is just pure comedy. Also this special give the girls a new situation, which is danger situation. But because this is a comedy anime, it is still funny to seethem in danger. The art here is like their main anime, gorgeous. Nothing has change, the beautiful background, their facial expression, the foods, etc. The sound is great too, they manage to make the SFX as real as possible. So yeah thats all i can talk about this anime. I really don't know what to say anymore because it is just same like Yuru Camp. Thank you so much for reading my review.
Yuru Camp△ Specials presents an alternative look at our favorite camping anime. However, episode 1 and 2 are shorter than the third (5 minutes then 12 minutes). The first one acts as an episode 0, quickly showing off Aoi & Chiaki discussing about new camping stuff they would like to acquire. As always its price doesn't enter their budget so they casually think about DIY solutions in the spirit of the previous episodes. Quick episode but keeps the global spirit. Episode 2 represents my least favorite of the Specials : camping quickly disappears during these 5 minutes and leaves a funny moment where Aoi & her sistertry to trick Nadeshiko. Then it is concluded by Inuko following the tricking move, when she makes other girls their hairs like Rin's ones. I didn't really appreciate this episode. Episode 3 itself comes back to the camping atmosphere shown in the anime. In a canon reality, our 5 girls take the plane and will end up jumping out of it (para-camping-high school girls yeaaah). They manage to land on an uninhabited island where they have to survive. We don't see much DIY but it however represents a full autonomous trip. As expected they will find solutions and eventually have fun camping despite the fact they are located on a lost island... which is situated near the coast lol Best episode by far, I wish it was a full duration (standard 24 minutes) moment.
Laid-back RETURNS! and it's as amazing as it has ever been. What I really love about this series is its outstanding atmosphere that warms you inside and it does so impeccably. I have seen plenty of other moe anime, but yuru camp is an irreplaceable experience when it comes to the overall experience of the show. These shorts are three episdoes. The first two being mainly about room camp that we sometimes saw parts of in the end of the episodes of the anime. The first one talks about the beginnings of the camping club when Aki and Aoi first started it. It is in the samestyle that we're used to and is basically a chitchat between the two about camping and its equipment so nothing new is introduced in it and nothing is missing either. The second episode is one after Nadeshiko joined the gang and is also a chitchat episode, but we are introduced to new things about the characters especially Aoi and the loli Aoi, her sister, who makes an actual appearance this time as well. Nadeshiko almost always undeniably adds to the experience with her adorable character and I usually notice that at the scenes without her, but this episode is mostly focused on her and her cuteness so if you're a Nadeshiko fan, you're in for a treat. Last but not least, the third episode which I would encourage you not to read my take on as the surprise factor is key sometimes so I'll start by vaguely pointing out that it isn't another room camp episode, but an actual camping one and it is one that stands out from the rest of what we have seen so far so if for any reason you don't want to watch the room camp episodes I would encourage you to at least watch this one. Now I start talking about the episode itself. This time, the girls travel abroad to camp, but due to circumstances I won't get into detail about they end up on an uninhabited island with no means of contacting human civilization. It's time for some survival camping! But not so much. This show is yuru camp, not btoom. Even if survival camping is a unique experience I still want what I signed up for. And so they give it to us brilliantly. I have seen survival games incorporated a lot in anime, but this is definitely one to remember. Despite being stranded on an island the girls still hold it together and live through the hardships of the island as a team. They still give us the exquisite experience I'll probably never see in any other anime with such flair. It was a bittersweet episode with the slightest glimpses of the girls missing their home while still smiling so brightly and having their lightly comic moments we love. And so this review comes to a conclusion. Bottom line, if you liked the anime just as I did, definitely give these a watch. The cute squad is here, the laid-back moments are here and the experience as a whole hasn't been demoted in the slightest, rather these shorts have added a little to what the anime might have missed and don't exist solely for the sake of it. Side note: Give me season 2 already!
As the last of the yuru camp specials has been released i thought i would give my thoughts on the specials and the show as a whole as i have really loved it. If i had to describe this series with one world it would be joyful. It doesn't have a great story or an original premise or even really original or different characters but it doesn't need that. The show perfectly encapsulates a sense of fun which i find rare in a lot of other anime. Each episode was just a different fun little camping journey or such like that was just a laid backand fun thing for you to watch and every week i looked forward to this little slice of enjoyment. The characters are also incredibly enjoyable. All members of the cast, especially the two main girls nadeshiko and rin, are so fun to watch interact with one another and the world around them and are endlessly fun to watch. These specials have up till the 3rd fine and fun enough but the final one "survival camp" felt just as joyful and fun as the main series. It was great to see the gang again on an adventure and i would definitely recommend this special to anyone who enjoyed the main series. Also if you haven't watched the main show and remotely enjoy slice of life comedy moe shows then give yuru camp a shot. It is brilliantly fun
To be honest, this series has really grown on me. The story is really good as well as the characters. However, there is some criticism regarding to this ova special. Yes, it adds more depth to the characters and some plotlines that we actually care for it. The problem with this special is that there isn't anything happening or provide from it. We get a backstory and that's it. Also, the pacing is a bit of concerning and a little bit jarring. Regardless, if you really want to love this series, you should watch this as well. Overall, I give this a straight 7.
