The ground shakes, a rumble follows, and before anyone in Japan can prepare themselves, a cataclysmic volcanic eruption engulfs the country in molten lava and suffocating ashes. Of course, high school student Kusou Saiki repeatedly uses his psychic powers to prevent this harrowing catastrophe. But between restoring the planet and watching his friends discuss their aspirations, Saiki finally resolves to stop the eruption and allow the world to continue spinning. However, this straightforward task is challenging even for the most powerful of psychics, let alone one who must deal with the usual shenanigans his ludicrous friends present. Yare yare, Saiki has ended. The comedy is on par with season 02, but the ending itself was quite underwhelming. It's disappointing to see this one go and it surely didn't feel like the author pushed it all the way with this "conclusion". Given, it is rare to see fully satisfying endings for comedy series but this one was downright cop-out. Since Saiki has so often delivered, I can't help but feel it could have -very realistically- been something more. If these had been your average episodes inserted in full season, I wouldn't complain at all, but since these are supposedly the last after taste, Iwill only call them good. I am glad these were made, but as a whole I can't say my expectations were fully met.
A lot could be said about Saiki Kusuo no Psi-Nan. But in all honesty, that a lot would mean nothing, when this is a series you need to experience. There's no need to give a summary of the plot, you can just watch the first episode and get it. But there's one detail you will never understand with just one or even ten episodes: The magic. Saiki is more than just a comedy. Sure, it makes you laugh with almost every short, but in those jokes there's always something else. But the real point of it are the characters. They just grow on you. From the pointwhere you first realize that Teruhashi is actually a great person, despite what she thinks, to the point where you notice Nendou might not be such an idiot... all the time, all of it is part of that magic. I could give you a thousand reasons to enjoy this show. But again, those would be meaningless. Saiki was the anime that, back in 2016, gave me back my love for anime. After many years not really caring about watching any chinese cartoons, I got curious about this overpowered guy with pink hair, and I honestly will be forever thankful for it. It's been a great ride, but I suppose everything must end. tl;dr: Saiki is funny as hell but it can also be wholesome, go watch it.
Saiki Kusuo has ended. I really enjoyed this series because it is one of the only animes that make me laugh out loud (not just snort with my nose). This ending episode had both comedy and it made me feel happy. And according to me Saiki as a character, grows and shows other sides than just the "Yare Yare"-part. The only thing that was negative was that I thought it had a bit of an abrupt ending. But I found out that there are two more chapters that the creators did before quitting! So a quick google search for "Saiki k giga chapters" gave me amore satisfying ending and I recommend anyone who watched Saiki Kusuo to read them!
Don't let my score to get to you too much, this anime is fantastic. The ending on the other hand... isn't. I really loved this series and this is just a disappointment. Kanketsu-hen is supposed to be the finale of the Saiki series but it doesn't really. I'm fine with the idea of having the finale not being a huge ordeal and just being like any other episode but there's too many loose ends for this to be the finale. We were teased with Yumehara and Kaidou getting together as a couple, then the author hit undo. We were teased with Saiki letting out his secretof being a psychic to his friends after all of the buildup, then the author hit undo. Season 2 we were teased of Saiki and Teruhashi being a thing, that was swept aside. It was a real thing, not just something built up by viewers. Saiki was protecting Teruhashi throughout the season and stopped the mixer she was a part of and didn't let any other guy get to her.. The 4-koma finale also didn't address any of these ends. Also one thing I'd like to say is the additions of the characters Rifuta and Akechi were really just a timewaster. Instead of any real kind of story progression, time was spent on their seriously minor and meaningless roles to avoid the big questions that have lingered throughout the series in s2. As you can see they were just shoved in for the finale. It was also very uncharacteristic for Kuusuke to make a device that would stop Saiki's powers since he's drastically masochistic and Saiki is the only one who both could defeat him and interests him at the same time. *Spoiler* I understand the ending it's like he tries get away from being a physic the whole show, he finds a way out which doesn't work and then just accepts that he's a physic. But that's just a really simple ending for a story that has evolved throughout the years.
It has unfortunately ended at a really, really weird point in the story. YARE YARE Anyway. Apparently, there are those few extra chapters that happen afterwards. It still ends on a cliffhanger, though, and I'm sadly disappointed. Of course we all wish there was more, and that it went out with a bang, but oh well. I'll admit, I enjoyed it while it lasted. I somehow found the series in 2017, and Saiki K. was the second anime I watched, and the first that I finished. (Excluding the ones I didn't know were anime when I watched it, etc. -- second anime I watched willingly and then) It was, however, the first anime that I loved and enjoyed 100%, and I seriously couldn't wait until season two began airing a few months later. But yeah. I rate this a 9 as it could have been better. We all want to know what Kusuke really thinks about his little brother! I mean, come on. There's the times where he's about to do whatever, and it seems he might kill Kusuo, but then he starts laughing and says "haha, I like my cute little brother too much for that!" etc. My main point is, wish there was more. (and this review is kind of sad because I wrote it in a hurry. school tomorrow, late at night, should be sleeping, et cetera)
Yareda, yareda, good grief, Yareda, yareda, good grief, Yareda, yareda, good grief, good grief, Yareda, yareda, good grief, good grief, Yareda, yareda, good grief, good grief, Yareda, yareda, good grief...Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan has ended. The "final chapter" of Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan with a 50 minute special that focuses on the two biggest plotlines that Saiki had to face during his second season, one is his narcissistic brother Kuusuke at it again in trying to win against Saiki, the other, the imminent volcano eruption that leads to Saiki needing to reset time over and over again. The plotline with Kuusuke for LA in general was LA'sleast interesting plot point of Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan, but the final confrontation against Kuusuke was good in this respect, we get to know WHY Kuusuke's reasoning to his feud against Saiki besides the "sibling rivalry" and everything and heck Kuusuke used Saiki's friend, Reita as a counterbalance to the entire fight that LA didn't think would be an interesting fight but it worked out for the better. This final confrontation against Kuusuke was good even though LA was always annoyed by Kuusuke as a character as well as his skits belonging to him in general, so this final fight was justifiably good in LA's eyes. Now, for the volcano eruption plotline, well it was the most hectic to say the least and involves the majority of the cast at that and obviously for LA had the most laughs due to the majority of the cast in one location. The best point of this plotline goes to the big climax of this plotline and that is of Saiki confronting his friends with his biggest secret of his being a psyhic to everyone and heck Kuusuke's plotline is interweaved in all this by adding the factor that Kuusuke has created to suppress Saiki's power FOREVER and NENDOU showing that he's the bro-est bro through it all. The climax isn't in the action department, but more so in the dramatic, emotional department which brings up what LA said in LA's first season review of Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan, that he truly cares for his friends even he tries to hide it and this climax hit that emotional mark and hell not only does Saiki get a resolution to his multiple plotlines, but Chiyo, Shun and Kokomi gets their sub plotlines tied up with this SIMULTANEOUSLY with Saiki with this climax!. Oh~ the ending if anything was great is what LA is sayin' On the technical side of things, well the production value, animation and voice acting is all the same really. The animation done once again by JC Staff and Egg Firm, aesthetically the same while keeping up with the wildly erratically fast paced voice acting and comedy, huge props to Hiroshi Kamiya as Saiki, as well as Ai Kayano as Kokomi and Yukari Tamura as Chiyo got MORE SCREENTIME and the production value for this climax was slightly better for the Final Chapter, kinda makes sense due to it being the finale and everything. Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan: Kanketsu-hen ties up all loose ends, and sure those final moments was EXPECTED to happen for Saiki, because it's Saiki-kun but still for what the impact that emotional climax and how it ended in general, it left in a rather expected note from Saiki but was greatly satisfying to say the least for LA, as LA is gonna miss Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan, thoroughly enjoying Saiki's mishap adventures and LA sticking to the series wasn't in vain and Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan: Kanketsu-hen made it worth it to watch it to the end. Yareda, yareda, now LA is getting emotional. Saiki-kun has ended, but damn was the ride to beginning to end, as a cascading, fast paced comedic, parodic ride of chaos and comedic craziness. Last thing to say is one last... Oh~
Well, just like with the second season, I was happy to see that the final Saiki K. arc was actually a proper arc. I'm a bit surprised that this series eventually took the direction of telling a somewhat linear story that culminated in these characters moving forward from where they've been this whole time. In some regards, the characters stay stagnant, and ultimately, that is a bit of a shame because I would have liked to see some permanent character development. However, I still think this special did deliver overall, despite the result not being entirely what I would have liked. As I said, thisspecial was all, essentially, one story, and because of that, Saiki actually got some significant character development, which I enjoyed a lot. I wouldn't say that the characters' relationships changed much, as they seemed to in the first season, but I think it's super important and narratively clever to save this final arc for Saiki himself changing. The only (small) complaint I can muster for this special is that I wanted it to be a touch longer. For instance, had this been a film, I think some of the finer points of it could have been polished, and the ending could have been expanded a bit. However, I understand that that's not really the point of Saiki K., so perhaps having it be just as fast and concise as usual is for the best. Overall, this was a good experience, and I'm glad that it did its job of tying the entire series together into one, long, entertaining story.
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan: Kanketsu-hen, touted as the third season of the anime, is a brief, lackluster addition to the series. Comprising just one or two episodes, it offers little in the way of new content. While it does tie up one loose end from the previous season, the overall impact is minimal. The pacing is sluggish, the humor subdued, as the focus shifts towards wrapping up loose story threads. If you've invested in the series thus far, it's worth a watch for closure, but it's hardly essential viewing. The anime isn't necessarily bad, but it lacks the punchy humor and engaging content that characterizedthe first two seasons. Additionally, the decision to prioritize story elements over comedy may not have been the wisest choice, given the series' comedic roots.
