Luckily, the demonic hairpin she was granted by the Snake Mother is able to save her life at the cost of her memories. The two set out on a journey to discover who Xiao-Bai is, and learn the secret of her demonic hairpin. The pair is pursued by Xiao-Qing, Xiao-Bai's sister, who has sworn to the Snake Mother to retrieve Xiao-Bai within three days or die trying. As Taoists, demons, and humans collide, a tale of forbidden romance unfolds. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Just for refrence i watched the subbed version not sure about the dubbed. Ill start off wtih what was not to great with the movie, for starters the villians really feel flat, also the weight of everything was kinda thrown off from the main focus of the story which was a bit hard not to do giving what they were focusing on with the movie. possible spoiler: The story is focused on over looking what someone is born as and more what you want to be for yourself and to others, ill leave it at that as i feel like that is kinda of a spoiler andwont say anymore. was glad that it didnt hold your hand in going through everything and didn't drag out but as i said at the start they dont build much and it does have a bad effect on you caring about anything else besides the main characters. It plays on very simple logic and goals nothing really new but they do a good job with the story to keep you intrested. The fights scenes where intersting, done right and where good lengths, even though a couple of times is was just a bullet storm and looked rediculous still really enjoyable to watch. Now the art is really plessing also has really good flow of movment which is sharp and done right and they dont try to skip detail besides the cannon fotta like the everyday soilders or demons which are there just to add numbers to the groups(Races). now for the sound, they use a shit tone of music in this to set the mood you can take it as a good thing or bad thing but at least they do use skilled mucians to do so, mostly string based instruments and added drums for some fight scenes. All the voices were good the only one i would say was a bit off was the dog's but i think it was meant to be like that as its a dog speaking. if you are going to watch it dont expect the best out there i gave it a 10 due to it being a while since iv seen something like this and went into this not exspecting much which made me really enjoy the movie, also felt a bit different from all the other stuff i watched so was interesting, if i did watch a lot of these type of movies making it more stale ill say it's a solid 8 to most people and you wont be wasting your time watching the movie.
6.3/10 (rounded to 6/10) How much do quality visuals contribute the overall quality of a movie? White Snake proves that it is important, but great visuals can not necessarily save a mediocre story. I watched this movie in Chinese a few months ago, and I was wowed by the amazing visuals. The backgrounds look spectacular, and the animation of the fight sequences is also very good. For some reason, I also really like how the fabrics look. If I had to point out some flaws about the visuals, I would say that some of the animation of the clothing looks stiff and that the character designsare bland. I'm a sucker for xianxia and wuxia stories, and I was disappointed by White Snake. While watching this film, not once did I think that the story live up to the exemplary visuals. The characters were uninspiring, in particular the villains, who were especially one-note and dull. The story was inoffensive at best and extremely forgettable at its worse. Its cutaways to flashbacks were sometimes confusing even though the rest of the plot was extremely simple. I actually had to watch the trailer to refresh my memory. Despite all this, I think White Snake was pretty enjoyable. I won't watch it again, but I don't regret watching it. It was a net positive experience. At the very least, I'm glad more people are willing to give Chinese animation a chance.
Not sure how much art contributes to the quality, but I can assure you that the artwork and animation is astounding. There is scenery in the film that's incredible, they're gorgeous and very appealing to look at. The animation is fluid, the battle scenes are fluid, and oh my goodness the scenery - THE SCENERY! The story, however, cannot be said the same. It may just be my own preferences - but I like slow-burn romances, things such as: 1.) it takes weeks to kindle even a friendship among the duo 2.) they've known each other for at least a couple months before advancing the relationship 3.) and majorevents happen to further progress the friendship before moving into a relationship. None of those things are in this film (a little bit of #3 tho). Xuan doesn't really have a reason to help xiao bai, and the characters progress too quickly for my liking. The ending was pretty fantastic, though, no spoilers here. overall rating = 7 (.5(?))
