Overview: The closest thing that the anime community has to the infallibility of the Papacy is the animation studio Madhouse! It doesn't matter what the anime is about or who directed it. It doesn't matter how irrelevant the manga or previous version of the anime was. It doesn't matter if the anime only has one joke! If studio Madhouse animates it, that project WILL have at the very least decent ratings! Has there ever been an anime SO terrible that even being animated by Studio Madhouse couldn't save it? Well...it turns out that there is such an anime, but you need to travel back 30 yearsinto the past. This is the 1987 atrocity known as "Junk Boy".
Story and characters (or lack thereof):
Junk Boy tells the tale of an incredibly obnoxious pervert named Ryohei Yamazaki. This asshole runs around harassing women and trying to be as obnoxious as possible. That's it. That's literally ALL he does! There are plenty of perverted anime characters that are actually funny and enjoyable from Master Roshi in DBZ to Kentaro Oe in Golden Boy or even Issei in Highschool DxD. The titular "Junk Boy" Yamazaki doesn't generate a single laugh in this 45 minute piece of shit! He NEVER stops talking rapidly in a voice that is simply ear grating in both English and Japanese. He has absolutely zero redeeming qualities or character moments that make him likeable. Finally, his supposed "inspirational" speech that is supposed to win the audience over to his side, is when he compliments a pop singer by saying he would have become a rapist if he didn't have her to jerk off to as a kid.
Now that I'm done describing our "hero", let's get to the sad excuse for a plot. Yamazaki decides that he wants to work for a porno magazine and shows up for a job interview. He gets a massive erection in the middle of the job interview and is hired as the magazine's "seal of quality". He is shown dirty pictures all day and if he gets an erection, that picture is selected for print. One of Yamazaki's female co-workers decides for some reason to go out on a fake date with him and write an article about how bad he sucks at sex! After reading the article, he decides to convince her to go out on another date and give him a second chance. For the sake of keeping the plot moving, she accepts for no reason and almost instantly falls in love with the annoying cretin! The next day, Yamazaki goes over to his boss's apartment to brag, but actually just wanted to steal her panties. The boss throws him out the window, but VERY unfortunately the fucker survives! It then reveals that he managed to remove her bra while she was throwing him and the anime just ends! This might be the most abrupt and inept ending I've seen since Monster a GoGo!
Art:
Despite the fact that Madhouse had great animation even in the 1980s, this 1 episode OVA still looks like dog shit. The character art is hideous and the animation is rather sub-par even for its time period. Madhouse doesn't have this series listed on their Wikipedia page and they have Reign the FUCKING Conqueror, listed on their page. Of all the anime they probably regret making, this one is the king!
Overall:
I've seen bad comedies before. As a movie masochist I've sat through films like Car 54 Where Are You?, Movie 43, and 2 Madea films! This 45 minute OVA is actually worse than any of those. This an anime that not only doesn't make you laugh, it just annoys you every fucking second that you watch it. The scene that comes closest to actually being funny is when our "hero" randomly humps a hole into a Colonel Sanders statue for no reason! This OVA actually had me BEGGING for the comedic talent of Eli Roth! "Oh yeah, he's a professor...OF BEING A DOG! OOH FACED!" I did the calculations and that is approximately 5,000 times funnier than anything that happens in Junk Boy. If you ever see a copy of this at a comic or anime store, smash it into tiny pieces! You are doing that store a HUGE favor!

I did not see any reviews for this show plus it needs some justice on it. During the late 80's and 90's there were many OVA's that were just one to up to six episodes long. All of these OVA's were in a way one shot shows that had either the potential to be a bigger series or just because of budget issues only had money for something shorter.This by no means make them bad but in my opinion makes them unique and interesting to watch since they usually bring issues one does not see very often in shows. Story: Anyway, Junk Boy is one of those shows.It is a one episode show of a guy that has his mind in the gutter at all times and gets a job in an adult company. It starts out interesting and get straight to the point of the type of person the main character(mc) is. Besides that there is no overall deep plot but each moment with the mc brings good moments and kept me interested in watching more.
Art:
As expected of the art if one compares it to other late 80's to early 90's shows it is quite solid. There were few still moments since the mc loves moving around a lot. Overall, there are worse ones out there in this time period.
Sound:
The ending song is very 80's for sure but quite nice to listen to. Besides that nothing worse noting besides the music within the episode fits quite nicely to the essence of the show.
Character:
This is big one. Out of all of the characters the mc had the "most" character development if you could call it that. One does not watch this show for that aspect though but more for the moments and situations he gets into which can be quite funny. As of a side note, they do portray women as "easy" which can be a big turn off to most people. That needed to be said.
Enjoyment:
Out of all of the categories this shines the most. It can be rare to find an eccentric character being the mc for any show and this is one of them. He places this show and makes it seem better than it is. In addition, there are some moments they take the same joke over and over but they do put a different spin to it even if it is just slightly done.
Overall:
This show is not for the light hearted and is intended for a 18+ audience for much of the scenes of the show. While it isnt too deep it can place a smile to ones face. I would give it a try if you are open minded and want to experience something different.

10/10 Don't be so serious XD This anime while I can see why people may get offended especially in todays day and age was simply jokes. I found it amusing. It was a very weird but good watching experience, with the main character being the creepiest man in the word and yet having God tier rizz. Honestly it was strange, which was what made it hilarious. People are complaining about the images it paints on women, but come on now. We're grown adults and know what to take serious or not. I mean seriously if any sees the way women are painted in this anime and think itapplies to real life they had a screw lose anyway.
Don't watch if you're a snow flake. But if you want a 40 minute time waster and get a good laugh in the process then I recommend.

You should have chosen to watch the staples of fall 1987 instead... It could have been "City Hunter", "Maison Ikkoku", "Dragon Ball", "Saint-Seiya", "Esper Mami" or "Little Women"... So what would justify your choice for this obscure sleaze known as "Junk Boy"? Bluntly put, a taste for most grotesque escapism of the raunchy kind, provided that your skull is idiocyproof. "Junk Boy" has all the hallmarks of a deviant epic. Firstly, the plotwise subtlety of a mina of porklard shortnening added to a ten shekel cake flour. Its disjointed narrative is a pathway littered with rose petals and humid underwear for its main protagonist, Ryohei Yamazaki. The transitions between the recruitment, photography inspection, photoshoot session and the other scenes are haphazardly laid out in a clip-like style. Is the final workpiece a greenlighted tech demo made from a few storyboards?
As mentioned above, the forces of evil have exiled Tastefulness in the barren highlands. Whenever that bizarre cross child of Kaede Rukawa and Kintarou Oe is aroused you are duly informed by an according crotch shot. He does not simply have an erection, no. Actually, it is as if the mittu mace of Ninurta stands ready to harass women mercilessly! Thankfully for him, it is enough of a resumé for the magazine board of recruitors to hire him. As such, it is more pertinent to talk about plot jockstrap rather than plot armor. At work as in privacy, Ryohei is the anime equivalent of Tex Avery's Wolfie drooling in a cabaret crowded with read headed hotties. Whereas this latter iconic character is played out for successful comedic effect, "Junk Boy" remains crassly backed up by alibi humor in the name of sexual awareness. Verily, Ryohei is not your common Japanese NEET. He is THE future, a paragon knead with total positivism, Japan's ultimate answer to turn around the infancy rate's dip. Not only his sexual prowess would fulfill frigid mortals like Aki Sawamoto but also deities. After all, who could resist the charm of that modern Lugalbanda pedaling at a steady pace towards his rendezvous point? Truck drivers are impressed by his sheer display of vitality; likewise Ryohei is the ointment in tramps' aweary heart and the streetwalking transvestites also salute him because there is no such a generous scorer. It is simple, were he a character in Sword Art Online, he would demote Kirito into a foil role while tripling the harem count. At least, he is no hypocrite or boorish like sir Gary Stu Gamer. He tips women right off the bat instead of leaving them at the edge of their chair, so to speak.
To end in a positive note, MadHouse's art is cut in the sturdiest boxwood. The animation is particularly crisp for a late eighties OVA. Music is fitting high-energy cheesiness, so sound-design is also beyond reproach. Aside from these positive points nothing redeeming about the title meets the eyes. (Un)fortunately this short-lived initiatic odyssey addressed to serial rapists closes to a foreshadowing at Oda Yuki's home. Ryohei ends up defenetrasted in a strangely accurate parallel with OVA's fate. How ironic.
All in all, one untangles from this with the impression of being trampled upon by an onager cart running amok. The comparison is more than appropriate as "Junk Boy" has no aim whatsoever. Too outrageous for an adult beholder and too corny for a hormone-ridden teenager drawn to more glistening ecchi, "Junk Boy" is condemned to slow putrefaction on the landfill of unsuccessful. Praise be unto Sacred Geometry~

Originally from Anilist: Junk Boy is a 1987 ecchi OVA produced by Victor Entertainment. Having no Wikipedia nor TV Tropes page, I think it's safe to say I'll be reviewing another obscure anime today. As an aside, while I don't want to get into the habit of spoiling anime in my reviews, as this is a forty-five minute OVA, its almost inevitable that I'll spoil most of the anime if I describe anything. On the bright side, knowing the plot doesn't detract from much in Junk Boy's case. In the first minute or so of Junk Boy, we are treated to no less than four pairs of bareanime breasts. The OVA wastes no time in telling viewers _exactly_ what type of anime it is - a hardcore ecchi at best and a tame hentai with a plot at worst. If you have someone that may enter your room, it's best to sit this one out, folks.
Step into the sneakers of Ryohei Yamazaki, a shameless hypersexual man who aspires to work at the gravure magazine, Potato Boy. If you're tired of the shy, dense, and borderline asexual protagonists of harem anime fame, Ryohei will be a breath of fresh air.
Or at least he would be if he wasn't a grade-A creep and jerk, a trait that's stated in exasperation by other characters in the OVA. If destroy the seriousness and charm of characters such as Master Roshi or Jiraiya and ramp up their skeevy pervertedness to eleven, you have Ryohei. It's hard to not roll your eyes in disgust as he embraces random women and rubs his giant gag penis against them while having a perverted fantasy. In the first five minutes, we see the extent of Ryohei's character - he's horny to an utterly obnoxious extent. The beautiful editor of the magazine causes his hormones to go wild, and he botches his interview.
He is promptly hired.
A big problem I have with this anime that it seems that for far too long, Ryohei's antics go unpunished; he's often __rewarded__ for his bad behavior. Towards the end of the movie, he starts getting rejected and slapped around, but by then the damage has been done. Junk Boy is completely ridiculous and not in the good way.
The OVA's too crude for my tastes, and it often ruins moments that could genuinely be good. As an example, there's a scene where Ryohei and the photographer go to take a gravure shoot of a singer. The singer seems disinterested and thus her shots aren't particularly appealing. Ryohei then decides to reveal how she was his idol and he masturbated to her when he was younger and encourages her to be better so she can be like the woman he once fantasized about. It would have been sweet...in a strange, off-color way. But then the anime ruins it by having him then lustily rub against her with his erect penis, followed by her being __pleased by its size__.
While breasts and derrieres are all that's shown, it still seems a bit much for an ecchi and comes across as the writers needing to slap a plot on an animated pinup. While this would be fine for a hentai, it's not and the poor plot shows.
Another problem the anime has is that it seems to have an identity crisis. In addition to being ecchi, it's a comedy. The problem with this is that it more often than not isn't funny and I was pretty ashamed the few times I laughed (which were due to facial expressions more than anything, if nothing else the anime is well-animated). More ridiculous still is that it tries to become a romance in the second half. With Ryohei being nothing more than a creep that lusts for any feminine woman that moves throughout the first half, I wasn't buying it. The fact that after getting the girl (because of course he does), he decides to harass his boss again just drives the point home that the romance plot was shallow. It doesn't help that the first half moves briskly while the second half is a crawl (or as much of a crawl you can be with twenty animated minutes).
Junk Boy _could_ have worked, honestly. Focus on Ryohei's antics and show off a few more scenes of him getting raunchy material for his job. You could dial back his personality to make him bearable and you'd have a pretty decent ecchi. If you actually do want to have him grow as a person, you'd need to have a few more episodes or an entire series. This was adapted from a manga, and I believe being one forty-five minute OVA could be the cause of many of my problems.
Overall, while this isn't anything to write home about, it's not terrible. It has that sleek, 80s anime look, the dub is pretty good for a late 80s anime, the music is decent, it's funny at times, and the women look nice if that's your thing. If you're just looking for a goofy ecchi, you could probably do worse. If you're looking for anything else, you could definitely do a lot better.

I'm honestly tempted to give this an 8, but I would have to cancel myself immediately. I put this on my Plan To Watch because I found OZ intriguing. A sex comedy under the hand of a guy who went on to make a violent, high-concept sci-fi drama? "Sure, why not?" said I, a fool expecting it to just be silly. But it is extremely compelling, well-structured and well-paced? Even the first scene, which is instant gratification, is a curve-ball because of how it introduced and incorporated the attack helicopter into the ongoing orgy. The first thing we're going to have to get out of the way isthat, yes, it is a sex comedy and it is not intended to mirror real life. With that in hand, I was willing to suspend my strong distaste for workplace harassment. If you are not able to or do not want to do that, this will not be a good time. But even this is interesting.
While the main character fails to the top in ways that could easily just be annoying if done slightly differently, he is never really empowered. Rather, his boss and significant love interest mostly don't willingly give him the time of day. Those two probably get more character explanation than he does, being just a pervert. They are successful, top-of-their field career women with impressive, powerful personalities and comfortable in their own skin. (There's briefly a third woman in a photoshoot who is not as good an example, but the scene is mostly played for laughs and it builds her up professionally by tearing the main character down personally. It still fits the mold.)
The way it incorporated the main character's sex-pest nature into the plot was jarringly good. Not only did it lead to his success in the first act, then his downfall in the second, it drove us into and through the third. Meanwhile, it's integral to comically starting and then organically growing the relationship between him and the main love interest. The romantic scene on the rooftop was as impressively directed as a serious part of an ecchi show can be, not something I'd expect from an OVA that could otherwise just be porn.
And, bonus, there are actually some chuckle-worthy jokes in there, and some very expressive cuts of animation. Soundtrack was nice, too. A surprise.

i watched this to win a $200 bet. was not worth it. cried in the shower after watching just thinking of all the shit i just saw. it was like apycolypse zero but with none of the over the top violence. besides it was all for nothing he did not even have the 200 and i kinda wana die now. STAY THE FUCK AWAY YOU DONT NEED TO SEE THIS. this makes 42 look possible and 88 look like atack on titan. it makes the second season of big o look like the first 4 eppisodes. it makes cancer look like a humane way togo. for anyone who gets any reffrence i have made you are now my new fave person.

This is basically inspired Golden Boy! And that is a good thing! Men will enjoy this no matter what, only women seem to be the critics here that have issues with it. The animation is fluid which is pretty rare to see nowadays, art direction is good, much like golden boy (including low income and owns a bike and very intelligent!), great sound effects and music, good gags, could of easily of been a series, mad respect for madhouse. Don't let the slander get to you either. So, in conclusion, if your a biological male from birth, watch it! The current rating does not reflect itwhat-so-ever.
