After saving the Kingdom of Liones from the 10 Commandments, Meliodas and the Seven Deadly Sins are enjoying their time off. However, things aren't as peaceful as they seem, as the Sins are put through various trials to become strong enough to defeat the 10 Commandments and to overcome their past trauma. With help from past figures, the Sins are tasked with defeating the 10 Commandments and putting an end to their evil plans that began ten thousand years ago. The Sins begin to uncover the truth about each other, as well as those who stood before them. With this knowledge in hand, the battle against the 10 Commandments has only just begun. Nanatsu no Taizai: Kamigami no Gekirin continues to follow the Seven Deadly Sins and those that they meet on their journey. Through their adventures, they realize that their actions have had greater consequences on the present than they could have ever expected. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I expected nothing and I am still let down. This truly is dreadful show. My expectations never were high since Seven Deadly Sins is truly a super mediocre show. But oh man it was far worse than I expected. White fucking blood? Ah, yes finally the enemies cum after being killed. Of course the censoring is also horrible. Well, they did eventually stop using white blood somewhere around the middle of the show. The animation sometimes feels like watching a PowerPoint slideshow. It feels like their budget is super low. They are not even trying to animate it properly. Why in the hell would they hire such incompetentpeople for this. The director and series compositioner is also bad at their job. Finally a show that rivals Fairy Tail. Starting off with the story: It continues straight from the last season with mostly filler hooray I know. Then in the second episode the story actually starts, King and Diane and strolling around the fairy forest and meets Drole and Gloxinia who train them by sending them back to the past that takes place about few hundred years in the past duh. They must get stronger and escape said simulation by doing something they originally did not do. Well, finally in the 7th episode the Sins are back together and ready to take on they demon king. We then follow Gowther on how he lost his memories or something and in the end he get emotions, quite shocking I know. As the sins are back far stronger they go and attack Zeldris and the other wanks. And now we are met with the most horrible animation the world has to offer. I had read the manga and I said "Oh Meliodas vs Escanor is a good fight, I hope they do justice for it in anime" they did not. It was horrifying. They couldn't make still images look good. Then Elizabeth is going through a phase where she remembers everything and is soon to die. So now it is a race against time, they need to defeat the demon king so the curse on Elizabeth will be lifted. Characters are the same as last season but we got to know more about Elizabeths past, Meliodas, Gloxinia, Drole, Gowther and even Oslow. None of them have changed since season 2. Then we get few new characters who are Zeldris' companions or something. One of them is Meliodases teacher and one is just forgettable. Also few arc angels arrive onto the scene. Of course Meliodas is stuck in his assault form which just looks stupid mostly because the animators can't draw for shit. The soundtrack is still pretty lit so I gotta give them that. There is that one theme that comes in every good fight. But if anything at least they got a good composer for the music department. Then the openings. The first one is just horrible. The song "Frontier" was kinda bad. The music wasn't the greatest and the clips were not good at all. I can't remember anything cool happening in that opening. Maybe the T-posing. And then the second opening. This one is actually good. The song "Delete" is a very catchy and a great song, Thank You SID. The animation in it looks good. The visuals are actually cool looking. There was Escanors The One and lots of cool fights. Again, the animation is beyond horrible. It looks like it was done in paint or then photoshop or powerpoint. They just kinda fly around looking like absolute dog shit. I have not enjoyed this show and probably never will. Only thing I have gotten is laughs mostly because of the shit animation. Would I ever recommend this? Hell nah son. You should honestly just skip Seven Deadly Sins fully. Or if you want then read the manga.
Writing this review just because the rating of this anime has surprised me a lot. Most of the people rated it very low from the very start just because of the animation. Animation of course is important but it is not everything as long as I can make out whats happening and it is clear I am okay with it. Additonally, the animation wasn't even that bad it slowly got better although the while blood was retarded.Rating an anime solely on animation is very stupid.Lets get into my honest review now. Story 10:The plot of Nanatsu No Taizi is easily a 10 without even thinking about itthe way the writer reveals and creates new mysteries at the same time is insane. He also connects all the plot points perfectly this season.Everything makes sense and you get surprised , and shook from the secrets revealed. Art 6:As I said was okay still not berserk level.Had some cgi but for the most part it wasn't that bad specially after the beginning. Sound 8:Now the soundtracks in Nanatsu No Taizi are always amazing from emotional ones , to the exciting fight osts. They are used frequently throughout this season with new ones created for important moments. Character 9:Character in Nanatsu No Taizi is a very strong point each character is built and progresses very nicely power and character wise. Each representing a sin carries out their role perfectly in the story. Enjoyment 9:Enjoyed this season a lot even though I had read the manga I was wishing that I didn't read the manga so I could experience it truly. Overall : Easily an 8 with good art I would've made it a 9 it will still never reach the 10 mark because an anime has to be truly perfect to get a 10.The ending of this season was not it ending in the middle of an Arc is just not smart to do.There were better endings the last episode felt like a normal episode and not a finale. If you wont finish the arc dont start it or atleast put a better ending.
It’s been a pattern for several years now. Nanatsu no Taizai goes on a break, and then comes back to adapt parts of the manga for the plot. By plot, I do mean the continued storyline about the Seven Deadly Sins and their conflicts against the demons, Commandments, and in this season, even Meliodas himself. This season adds the additional Goddess side while making its storytelling even more complex. But...complex doesn't equate to quality because Nanatsu no Taizai dropped the ball, hard. If you’ve seen the previous seasons before, chances are that you remember a darker change to Meliodas’ character personality. The fact is that heis turning back more and more into his original demon self. Estarossa gave us a very brief narrative about how Meliodas was once a ruthless ruler that he even envied. In this season, you will see the truth of Estarossa’s words as Meliodas once again revert to his true demon visage. That is, Meliodas becomes an anti-villain, a type of character at odds against the protagonists but is fighting for the “good”. And that reason lies in Elizabeth. Elizabeth becomes a character to feel empathy feel after you realize her complex past. Her connection to the goddess is imperative for the overall storytelling. The motivation of this season relies on Meliodas’ personal quest to end a curse between him and Elizabeth. That being said, watching this season felt nothing less than a chore. With a year long gap and 24 episodes, you’d think the studio and staff had enough time to give us what the fans wanted. In respect to the storytelling, it stays faithful to the manga. But on the technical quality, it’s a different story. The action choreography feels static and gets less and less consistent with each passing episode. It loses dramatic value with the low quality and furthermore, almost every fight feels more or less the same. Nanatsu no Taizai isn’t known for being unique for a battle shounen and the fights this season didn’t step up to the plate. No, it's dramatic disaster. On the characters front, we still have the familiar Seven Deadly Sins, the group of otherworldly entities renowned for changing the course of history. In this season, our characters develop their skills to stand strong enough against the Commandments and in hope of making a better world in this timeline. Besides that, I do believe the producers were aiming at the background storytelling for the purpose of getting us attached to the main cast. Characters such as Elizabeth, Meliodas, Gowther, are among a few of these examples. Interestingly, other important characters such as the archangels and elite demons get their moments of fame. Hold your horses though. Those characters are still overshadowed by the Seven Deadly Sins and most importantly, the duo pair of Elizabeth and Meliodas. It’s a shame since the series puts an overemphasis on their relationship, so much that it overshadows almost anything else. There are other breakout character pairs such as Monspeet and Derieri but their time on screen is limited. It’s the same as the manga where the show is dead on intent to push the relationship between Elizabeth and Meliodas to the limit. If you don’t seeing them together often, then buckle up because it’s going to be a long ride. Still, I do somewhat commend the faithful adaptation of this season. While the plot felt over extended, it follows near panel by panel for the most important chapters. Plus, it definitely became clear the producers wanted to adapt the full manga and set up for another season. (now confirmed to air in October 2020 this year) Is that good news or bad news? It’s sort of both. If you’re a longtime fan of this franchise, then it will be a delight because Nanatsu no Taizai is the gift that keeps on giving. On the other hand, it’s bad news if you’ve been trying to complete this anime franchise after so many episodes. Sure, it isn’t a long running battle shounen like Naruto or Bleach, but at the end of the day, Nanatsu no Taziai ran too long of a course for its own good. And I am talking about both the anime and manga. The bottom line is that after multiple series of adaptations, this new season didn’t truly became the next big thing. And in fact, I’ve rarely heard of anyone celebrating the announcement of new Nanatsu no Taizai anime in recent years. It’s not something reborn from the ashes like the recent Bleach announcement either. Nanatsu no Taizai has been flowing around the radar all this time and every year, it just gets worse and worse.
This won't be some drawn out, expertly made review. Here I go: The story is ehh. Not really interesting but the leadup to fights is alright so I'll live. The art is really bad. Honestly kills the mood for certain moments which were meant to be spectacular and ended up being the worst parts. The sound for the most part is really good. Soundtracks great and most voice acting is done well enough to engage me as a viewer, though sometimes there's a noise that just ruins that immersion. I don't recommend this anime unless you're really into seven deadly sins AND you dislike manga.
Nanatsu no Taizai: Kamigami no Gekirin For a long time, I was afraid of this, I knew what was coming and that very knowledge only made my burden more difficult. A bad anime can be improved by magnificent animation. Fast pacing can always balance the flow of scenes, dynamic animation in harmony with the music, help distract the viewer from flaws and entertain elsewhere. But when an average anime is given deadly pacing and disastrous animation, it's no longer fun. And at the same time, this season has been animated better than the final season. Therefore, for those who have already had traumatic experiences here, stop.Finish reading the manga and don't watch the last season. What the studio did here is beyond comprehension. I have a feeling they merely produced this as a bad joke. A good example is that the blood constantly became "milk" or other such "FSK 18" substances. And then again in other scenes, there was a lot of blood. Blood censorship can be seen in just 50% of the scenes. Was this produced by 2 independent groups that have not consulted each other? Or was too much blood too difficult to censor? Why does demon blood turn white? Why does a giant vomit up 2 buckets of questionable white substances? And why is another demon lying in a perfectly normal pool of blood in the next scene? There are so many questions and so few answers. So much said, I still have to say that the plot and character relationships are nevertheless decent enough to somehow make it through this season. Nanatsu No Taizai is still a simply average shounen. This season just suffers from studio problems, otherwise, it would have reached about the same quality standards as the previous ones. Unfortunately, the pacing here is very poor and the animations almost reach fanmade levels. By "almost" I mean that these reach a peak in the upcoming season. [Story 5] Here the rest of the plot is finally revealed, including Gowther's character background. And all of that is fine, it's nothing shockingly great, but that's what the series needed to prove itself. The backstory of the holy war, the connection between Meliodas and Elizabeth. Which, again, is a relatively interesting relationship whose problem became a good core point of a story. This approach is good, I just wish the whole thing had been implemented by a better writer and studio. In the upcoming season, there is only minimal resolution, and only a few background stories of the antagonists are still open. [Characters 5] There is nothing new to say, the characters are the same as in the previous season, only that Meliodas slowly puts on more serious traits, which of course makes him more comprehensible. The rest of the season is devoted more to the relationships of the various couples. I still find the opponents in Nanatsu no Taizai from the 10 Commandments relatively interesting. They have some wasted potential, but they are not blunt shells, which makes them seem more realistic. They are opponents, but only from the perspective of the protagonists. In their own right, they have their problems to deal with in this world and their burdens to bear. [Animations 3 / Music 6] I wouldn't say that the animations have hit rock bottom here, but they aren't far from it. There's no need to even mention why the series is also called "Seven Deadly Frames". The intro was... bad, really bad. The visuals just seemed like a cheap character catalog that was turned over. The music was okay. The osts suffer significantly this season, unfortunately, because of the slow pacing and their mediocre placement. Otherwise, the anime is only slightly worse musically. [Conclusion 3] It hurts my heart to give such a low rating to an average series, but unfortunately pacing and animation are simply important factors. And this season lacked both of those without end. Since this season was supposed to be 70% fights, it makes it all the more tragic. If it were just a story-based season with better pacing, then it wouldn't matter at all. Content-wise, I give the series a 5 out of 10 without a doubt, that's just what it is. But due to this massive drop in quality, there's nothing else that can be done. Too bad, among the average shounen, Nanatsu no Taizai was one I relatively enjoyed watching, which makes this hurt all the more. [Enjoyment 4]
(no spoilers) So, for people scared by the 1 out of 10 reviews; no, it's really not that bad. Is the animation a little disappointing? Yeah. Does it totally ruin watching the show? No. So, that being said, if you liked the last seasons, you'll definitely like this one. With that out of the way, time for the review! So to get started with the story, it develops really quickly in this season. Strangely though, I find myself still bored throughout this season. I think there is just something off with the pacing that makes it feel so slow. About the animation, I have already lightly touched onthat. It definitely is disappointing to see the animation quality go down, but that was honestly not a big deal for me. If animation is really important for you, especially in a shounen anime, then yeah, this might be a problem for you. That being said, I personally care more about story than the artwork. This is where I'm going to be talking about some spoilers for this season, so if you are planning on watching it, definitely stop reading because these plot twists are honestly the only good part about this season. I was really surprised at Elizabeth's awakening. Did not really think she was the cursed reincarnation of a goddess. That being said, how is it still possible that she literally does nothing this whole season combat wise? The first season, I understood that she probably wouldn't kick ass yet and that she needed some more character development. But in the second season, when her powers first start showing themselves, she still did nothing. And finally, when she is a literal GODDESS!! she still does absolutely anything except for one move she pulled on Meliodis' brother in the final few episodes. Please, creators, I'm begging you; can we ppllleeeaasssee see Elizabeth kick some ass???? Thanks :) Next on to Meliodis. I actually really enjoyed him kinda "turning to the dark side" and losing his emotions; the only thing willing him to move forward his sworn promise to Elizabeth to break this curse. They have a very interesting dynamic this season, with them both wanting the same thing in the end, but both having very different ways of getting there. Although they are technically on the same side, they still fight each other. Very coolll writers. All that said and done; was the animation disappointing? Yeah. Was the story a little iffy sometimes? Yeah. But if you enjoyed the last seasons, you'll definitely like this one and it for sure won't ruin your enjoyment of prior seasons. Happy watching!
I see many reviews giving crazy low scores, and this manily seems to stem from some issue with the animation. Now, I'm not blind, the animation in this season was worse than that in the previous 3, without a doubt. However, I dont see this as a show killer, in fact far from it. The character development here was on another level, so many seemingly 2D characters suddenly appearing, and without any spoilers, so incredibling meaningfull. There are moments of extreme sadness, even for characters who last season you wouldnt have felt anything for. The story suddenly came alive, revealing mysterys that seemed tohave been forgotten about seasons ago. This is the best season of Nanatsu No Taizai, and if you cant look past a few bad frames of animation to see that you need to find a far more simple show to watch.
My expectations coming into this show were very low. I enjoyed the first season of this show but after the first season the show declined and in all aspects. This show is called seven deadly slides for a reason, the fight animations are horrible and laughable at best. The show is also very boring and is just stupid. the other characters besides the mc don't do anything and watch as he fights. The mc was the only decent character in the show and everyone else is either annoying or boring. A great example of this is Elizabeth. She does absolutely nothing and her voice isso annoying and all she does is complain. I don't understand how people can stand this show when one of the main characters is an annoying and insurable crybaby. There's only few shows that I have had this much hatred for and this might be the worst show I've ever had the displeasure of watching. This show is so bad the only reason I didn't give it a 1 is because the mc is cool and its BARLEY watchable.
Brace yourselves for "The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of the Gods," a season that epitomizes everything wrong with rushed adaptations. This is a series that has managed to turn a promising narrative into a dumpster fire. Let's talk about the animation. Or, should I say, the lack of it. "Imperial Wrath of the Gods" takes a nosedive in animation quality that makes even the worst filler episodes look like masterpieces. Character designs become inconsistent, movements lack fluidity, and the action scenes, once a highlight, turn into a slideshow of poorly choreographed static images. It's as if the animators decided to take a coffee break andnever returned. The narrative, or what's left of it, is an absolute mess. "The Seven Deadly Sins" was already veering off course in the previous season, but "Imperial Wrath of the Gods" manages to mangle the source material beyond recognition. The pacing is breakneck, with critical plot points and character developments crammed into episodes like they're going out of style. The result? A narrative that feels like it's on steroids, a jumbled mess of rushed exposition and half-baked character arcs. Oh, and let's not forget the unnecessary fan service. It's like the creators realized they were tanking the plot and decided to distract viewers with gratuitous shots of barely clothed characters. I get it, "The Seven Deadly Sins" had its fair share of ecchi moments, but "Imperial Wrath of the Gods" takes it to a whole new level of cringe. It's as if the writers thought, "Who needs a coherent story when we can just throw in more boobs and butts?" The soundtrack, once a strong point of the series, takes a nosedive along with everything else. The epic orchestral compositions that accompanied the intense battles are replaced with forgettable tunes that lack the grandeur needed to match the scale of the story. It's like they hired the office intern to compose the music, and they did it during their lunch break. In conclusion, "The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of the Gods" is a prime example of how not to adapt a beloved manga. It's a rushed, poorly animated, narratively incoherent disaster that tarnishes the legacy of a once-promising series. If you were a fan of the earlier seasons, prepare for a heartbreaking betrayal. This season is a colossal disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend it to even my worst enemies.
I will type a review on the whole anime, not only the last season. Story - 8/10 - The anime is really good and I liked the whole principle. Each of the main characters got their "ending" which was more than less satisfying. The whole plot ends and we can say it is at the end and "everything happened as it should". It is really a good anime and the kind of story that is continuing was good. Fighting anime, drama, comedy and romance at the same time? Why not. Art - 9/10 - The art is really nice, fighting scenes are good. I dunno why peopleare hating it. Sound - 9/10 - Very nice and pleasant. Nothing to say. Character - 10/10 - Each character has a very good personality and owns a complex background story. So I'm absolutely fine about them. Enjoyment - 9/10 - The ending ruined it a bit for me, but everything else was really good and it was nice. I don't like fighting animes tho seems like this one is an exception.
Before I say anything, I must address the far and away number one problem that's sure to hit you in the face like a freight train from the first minute of S4's first episode: the censorship. For whatever reason, be it Deen's decision or the network's, the first cour of S4 features some pretty distasteful censorship. Don't bother trying to scour the internet for a secret uncensored Blu-ray version. There isn't one. What is censored and how? The violence is censored in two ways. First, occasionally, if there's gore, the gory element will simply be blacked out. There is a scene where Ban uses his Snatchability to steal an opponent's heart and crush it in his hand. You are, however, only able to tell that what he's holding in his hand is a heart by knowing Ban's ability and having seen him do it before, and perhaps the shape of the object. The object in his hand is otherwise completely blacked out. Fortunately, this kind of censorship only comes into play a handful of times. Unfortunately, the other censorship technique is a lot more disgusting and absolutely permeates the show - sperm blood. You may think I'm being cute calling it that, but I'm not. It's exactly what it looks like. It literally looks like cum. There's one scene where the one dude gets punched in the gut and coughs up a river of blood. I swear to Cthulhu, it looked exactly like a hentai chick coughing up semen - exactly! What's even weirder, not all blood is censored. There are scenes where red blood is literally raining out of the sky that are left as such, presumably because it would have taken too much of an effort to edit, but when someone gets a papercut, no, no, no, we can't have that. As far as I was able to understand the censors' logic, if someone was already covered in blood, they didn't censor it. It was left properly red. But any active bleeding or blood splatters were colored white, so you effectively have scenes where someone's chin is already dripping in red blood, but then they cough up white semen. I mean... talk about unintended consequences. The attempt to soften up the presumably disturbing aspects of the show ends up making it genuinely sickening to look at. Like I said, I don't know if this was Deen's decision or the network's, but I see this censorship technique often employed in the Chinese versions of anime, they recolor all the blood to be white for some reason. I remember seeing a censored version of the final episode of School Days a long time ago. The blood there was colored black. It still looked weird, make no mistake, but for fuck's sake, at least it didn't look like literal sperm. Was the network trying to suck up to their Chinese overlords to get some extra shekels from the Ching Chong market? I don't know. The fandom at large doesn't seem to know, either. All I've been able to find after a cursory search is speculation. Be that as it may, the point is that it makes for a frustrating viewing experience and I was tempted to drop the show until I could find an uncensored version. I gave up and gritted my teeth when I found out there isn't an uncen version, but suffice it to say I wasn't a happy camper. It is also worth noting that the censoring seemed to be at its worst in the very first episode. It mellows out somewhat after that. Alas, whoever was behind the censorship seemed to finally give up at the end of the first cour, so starting with episode 13 of Imperial Wrath of the Gods, you have nothing of the sort to worry about anymore. To which, thankful as though I am for it being gone, I'm left to wonder... what the fuck was even the point of it? It's not like this is a new show. It already had 3 seasons' worth of blood and gore broadcast on TV. Why decide to hide stuff now? We suddenly decided that the viewers' innocence is too precious after already tainting it for over 50 episodes? Why, when you're starting out at a disadvantage as an unpopular studio taking up a popular project, would you needlessly antagonize your audience like this? Only to drop it later? Why was the censorship even discontinued? Because of backlash from fans? Or because the Chinese overlords were unimpressed? Without a doubt, the biggest loser in this whole mess is the studio. As you may have gathered from what I've said so far, studio Deen has taken over the production of the franchise in season 4 and 5. To put it kindly, Deen doesn't have the best reputation. They're infamous as the studio who produced the abomination that was the original 2006 Fate/stay night TV series. Their other work is also unimpressive at best. If they were taking over a project such as this, especially given their public perception, you would think they would want to make a flamboyant statement right out of the gate to gain the audience's trust that the show is in good hands and that they'll do it justice. Well, they sure made a statement, but I'm not sure it's the one they wanted to make or should have made. Whether you're willing to put up with it for one cour is up to your investment in the franchise so far and hopefully what I'm about to say. In the show's defense, the censorship isn't so bothersome that it made my experience miserable. The way I thought about it, if I can get used to the Viz Media translation of the One Piece manga calling Zoro Zolo, I can get used to this. Lo, I could. So, how did Deen actually handle the show? I was initially so fucked off by the censorship, that it made the difference in quality only feel all the more pronounced. For that reason, I originally planned to limit this essay to a single sentence: "It looks like ass." Having now finished the entire show, I can say that judgement was a tad too harsh. There is an inarguable dip in quality, but all in all, they did a decent job of it. T7DS effectively looks and feels mostly the same. I firmly believe that an untrained eye, provided ignorance of the change in studios, would not be able to tell the difference. That said, differences exist. Though they did a fine job of keeping the anime's visual identity intact, a lot of people complained about the fact that they changed the way Melodias' face looked. Truth be told, if you compare them, he looks somehow dumber and more childish in Deen's version - something more of a blank expression on him. It's certainly a bizarre decision, to say the least, to fuck around with the design of the literal protagonist of all characters. The difference is not significant, however, and I don't know if they slowly changed it back, or I just got used to it, but I stopped noticing it altogether after a while. Perhaps the greatest loss, though, is the action sakuga. It's been years since I watched S1, and yet, to this day, I still remember the sakuga that was Gilthunder's lightning attack combined with Meliodas' against Hendrikson. It holds up as one of the most hype action scenes there are. Contrary to that, for the entirety of the Imperial Wrath of the Gods and Dragon's Judgement TV shows and the Cursed By Light movie, there wasn't even a single sakuga scene I felt presented enough of a visual spectacle that I wanted to see it again. There were some Escanor scenes I wanted to rewatch, sure, but that's because of the character, not the animation. All in all, the animation and production in general is pretty not great, but it's decent enough to not be insulting to the content that came before. Yes, I know, we've all seen the one screenshot of Meliodas lying on the bed, but trust me. It's not that bad. Say what you will about Deen. Yes, they may not be Madhouse or Bones, but the one thing they deserve to be acknowledged for is the fact that they're prepared to pick up franchises other studios are no longer willing to continue and finish them. Yeah, they won't make a Fate/Zero or Violet Evergarden any time soon, but they're willing to pick up that franchise you love that Ufotable or KyoAni dropped and churn out a dozen seasons of it and give you closure at a level of quality that's sufficient to not be offensive to your emotional investment. They basically did just about as good a job here as 8bit did with S2 of The Irregular at Magic High School when they took over from Madhouse. In short - good enough! The one thing I want to sincerely praise Deen for is the fact that they kept Hiroyuki Sawano-sensei on board for the OST. I don't know if it's usually for copyright reasons, too broke or too cheap to buy the rights, or ego reasons, they actively want to reject the franchise's previous identity and make their own thing, but I've seen so many studios take over the productions of sequels from other studios and then completely abandon the original OSTs. The final season of Sengoku Basara, for example, comes to mind. There's no need to worry about that here. You'll still hear Hiroyuki-sensei's epic soundtracks you've come to love from the previous seasons. The only detraction is that Deen is perhaps less willing to use them than A-1. In all fairness, I felt A-1 was a bit too cavalier with their use. During A-1's tenure, literally everything the cast did, no matter how mundane, was accompanied by epic orchestral music every 5 fucking minutes. It got to feel cynical after a while. I would suggest that the sweet spot exists somewhere between A-1's liberal and Deen's conservative approaches. As for the story, what can I say? No matter how much I may trash talk the show and all manner of aspects of it, at the end of the day, I can't lie. T7DS' narrative still managed to draw me in and hold my attention. In spite of the sperm blood censorship, the ass animation, the too-discreet use of the OST, I was still fully invested and looking forward to see more. I think I watched the entirety of Imperial Wrath of the Gods and 70% of Dragon's Judgement in one day. Pretty much everything that I said in my previous essay about the first 3 seasons still holds true. If I had anything to add or correct, for one thing, it would be the fact that, in time, what I said about the interpersonal connections of the cast gets rectified to a reasonably satisfying degree. You get to see the Sins interact and develop independent relationships with each other to the point where they become decently believable as an actual team, rather than just a bunch of randos following one dude. On the other hand, what I said about the narrative's longevity proved itself to be gospel. Dragon's Judgement is the final season of the anime. There's is no sequel coming. The story is over. The entirety of Imperial Wrath of the Gods and the first cour of Dragon's Judgement are part of the same larger story arc or saga, whatever you want to call it, that starts in Revival of the Commandments. In fact, you could even go so far as to say it started in Signs of Holy War. It doesn't turn into a long running story of always bigger, better things and progressively escalating obstacles, because it's structurally not set up for that. It sets up a clear goal, it pulls the trigger in Signs of Holy War and doesn't stop until that goal is reached, for better or worse, with no detours or side quests. The first season is its own arc, the kingdom invasion arc, as it's called, but after that, season 2, season 3, season 4, and the first half of season 5 are all part of a single expansive, continuous story arc. On a not completely unrelated sidenote, you can lay to rest any apprehensions you might have had about the numerically represented power level system that gets introduced in Revival of the Commandments. I was worried it might turn into some Dragon Ball Z ridiculously escalating clown fiesta, but it didn't. We started with power levels in the thousands and tens of thousands. We end with the highest power level explicitly mentioned being little north of 200k. No million, billion, trillion bullshit, so relax on that point. It's still pretty fucking dumb with no redeeming qualities and I hate it for all the reasons I generally hate numerically represented power levels, but at least it limits itself to being merely pointless, rather than outright offensive like in DBZ. That being said, I mentioned that only the first cour of Dragon's Judgement is part of that saga. That's not technically true. Episodes 13-20 of S5 are still technically part of the same saga, but there is a reason I'm writing the 2nd cour off wholesale. T7DS manga has roughly 350 chapters. In contrast to that, the anime only has a total of about 100 episodes. I did some Google-Fu to find answers about differences between the anime and the manga, and though I've found people detailing various differences, all of the articles and Reddit posts entertaining the matter were dated years ago, and were mostly discussing differences from the kingdom invasion arc. I haven't been able to find any recent information to substantiate my theory that the ending was significantly rushed as compared to the manga. My hypothesis is that most fans got turned off by Deen's performance and dropped the show, so there were no more mangaheads left who cared enough to analyze differences that late into the anime. Why would I believe it was rushed in the first place, you ask? That's because in the 2nd cour of S5, the writing just falls off a cliff. The last time I remember feeling this way was when I watched Parasyte and the series just went completely and irretrievably off the rails after the city hall event. The previous saga to do with the Commandments took around a total of over 60 episodes to flesh out and conclude properly, and even there I felt some things were rushed and that the Sins were plunged into conflicts with opponents they weren't quite ready to face yet, which subtracted from the prestige of said opponents, but S5's 2nd cour is just laughable. It goes through content twice as dense in 10% of the time. Know how people joke that in JRPGs you go from collecting sheep fur or whatever in chapter 1 to killing God in chapter 100? Well, it felt just like that here, except the jump happens almost overnight. It felt extremely jarring and made it a challenge to stay invested and care. The last 4 episodes in particular introduce several new twists that just served to make me roll my eyes and an entirely new power system and conceptual universe that is so poorly explained, presented, and resolved, it just felt like badly written fanfiction. It gave me the impression of a major arc that probably spanned 100 chapters in the manga, and was turned into a 4-episode Cliff's Notes version in the anime. Not saying I know that to be the case, just that it felt that way. The one thing I can say in T7DS' defense with no trace of reservation whatsoever, is that I respect that it's a shounen battle story that is unafraid to have its characters be romantically involved with one another at moments other than the literal end of the story à la Bleach, Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Fairy Tail, Food Wars!, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Highschool of the Dead, and so, so, so many others. Yeah, it's all fine and dandy that you find out that Naruto and Hinata or Ichigo and Inoue hooked up after the end of the series, but for all the hundreds of episodes that either series boasts, you never get to see them be a couple. T7DS breaks this tradition without much hesitation and establishes several OTPs during its run. Seeing characters you ship actively reciprocate each other's feelings and hook up during the story was extremely satisfying. I think that the reason behind having no overt romance in shounen is the thinking that the main audience, young boys who are a tad more on the socially inept side (because let's not kid ourselves, it's not the popular Chads who spend their time watching anime and reading manga), are extremely shy when it comes to pair bonding and don't confess to the girls they like, so if their heroes do the same, they will be able to relate to them and feel better about themselves. While I understand the basic idea, I disagree that what people want is to relate to someone who is exactly like them. The entire point of the fantasy genre is to see something better, cooler, more fantastic than one's self - something aspirational, something to strive towards! It is my contention that most people in the anime industry underestimate the degree to which their audience, even their young male audience, perhaps particularly their young male audience, craves fulfilled romance. There's a reason Kirito and Asuna have become one of the most beloved OTPs of all time. In addition, no matter how idiotic I thought the narrative in the 2nd cour of Dragon's Judgement was, something happens in there that had me ugly crying like bitch. The set-up was all wrong. Everything that went into creating that moment was completely busted. It had no right to be as emotional as it was. And yet, it still made me cry harder than I remember crying in literally a year. Still, credit where credit is due, the ending goes to great lengths to give the viewer closure on several threads, which I appreciated greatly. It's something a lot of series avoid for some reason and prefer to go with the "leave it up to the audience's imagination" approach. Fuck that noise. To this day, I'm still in disbelief that you never get to see Naruto become Hokage in the actual show, and instead in an irrelevant special 10-minute miniepisode released much later. To make a long story short, if you liked the first 3 seasons of T7DS and got invested in the story and characters and feel like you can stomach some disgusting censorship (literally, I'm serious, I cannot overstate how much it looks like sperm) for 12 episodes, you'll have a great time with the 4th and 5th season of the franchise. P.S.: Zeldris is the most dollar store Vegeta motherfucker in the history of dollar store Vegeta motherfuckers. P.P.S.: Dragon's Judgement has nothing to do with any dragon, really. It's a mistranslation. Funnu means anger, rage, fury, wrath. I guess the translators didn't want another season title to contain the word wrath? So instead of going for a synonym, they went for a different word entirely? I suppose dragon and wrath may be interchangeable if it were in reference to Meliodas personally, seen as he's the Dragon's Sin of Wrath, but that's a misapprehension. The "Judgement", as it were, is someone else's. Meliodas is not the one doing the judging. This feels kind of like when people thought the last samurai in The Last Samurai movie was Tom Cruise's character, Nathan Algren. It's like, no.
i just finished this season and oh my god it made my eyes bleed, and how the stroy gone from an 8 to 1. Story: Extremely bad, everything can be predicted, after they reveal most secrets and not interesting anymore, i had no fun at all after the 4th episode and the reset i just played it on 4x speed by eyes couldn't look at that Hideous drawing of the studio Art: there is none Sound: i liked it a bit Enjoyment: i had more fun watching 2 girls 1 cupCharacter: no development what so ever, the only thing that was interesting is the back story about them Overall: i might use the 3rd season as torture for my enemies.
I never give a review with a bad score, but this one is making me do it. This project is a sorry completion. I feel sorry for the voice cast, musicians, and others who worked for a project that lived up to no-one's expectations. I don't even blame the studio that received the outsource order from Deen for drawing so poorly. That's because the problem comes from money, and I don't blame anyone for money problems. The one other anime project I gave a bad score is Umineko ga naku koro ni. I couldn't even start it. Despite the bad score, I'm not disappointed, and you won'ttoo, if you are going to watch this for the plot. Here's one interesting point: You'll learn a lot of things about anime drawing if you watch this. The reason is that you'll now have something to compare with the good and the bad. You've probably only seen anime drawn nicely; think what you'd learn by watching anime drawn poorly. Again, this is just a sorry completion, but I still give my thanks for the people who made this, because I enjoyed it at least. (However, I don't know if I'd say the same thing if I paid lots of money for watching this. I wish Deen just postponed this project and didn't outsource it). Story: 8, Art: 2 or 1, Sound: 3, Character: 3, Enjoyment: 6 or 7, Overall: 3. Character: The characters lose their character because of the studio's incapability to create interesting dialogues to immerse the viewer into their own world or to make them feel realistic. Sound: Exciting background sound is lacking in various fighting scenes; some fighting scenes were tedious to watch.
Well i am a fan of 7DS but im shocked! This is my first review by the way! I watch it all ofc and i regret it for sure! Well a new studio pick it up! yeah finally! :) Oh no! What did they do! :/ 1. First episodes was like a hurricane hit my head? (confused) 2. Bad animations. 2. The sounds feel somekinda off?3. Censored? (white blood?). 4. No enjoyment feeling at all. Well i can continue make a list but i wont! xD This anime season is the worse i ever seen! It was poorly executed! the studio blame no time and so on but they still went with it? xD Don't watch if you can! It Wasn't worth destroying the first 2 season with this season! Reading the manga instead! Anime 2/10 I hope you found this helpful! :)
This review serves more as a reminder to never give this show a rewatch on my part. This season was a notable downgrade from past seasons which were never my favourite, but always managed to give that minimum of shonen action where you can disregard bad storytelling, etc. This season had some of the worst animation possible for a show with this much attention on it. Idk who handled the animation and I don't really care. It just felt like they tried to rush the season out banking on its pre-established recognition thinking they could slack on the budget and time given to animators. This wasa pathetic cash grab that fails to deliver any sort of quality with either the pacing, the story, the poor character development and the truly awful animation.
In the beginning, I liked this anime and thought that it was good. Season 2 was short, and I wish it were included in season one. For whatever reason, season 2 is four episodes that I thought were odd. Now season three left me satisfied with the story and excited for S4. Oh boy, this season was a disappointment for me. But I'm going to start with the positive. By the way, a spoiler warning for anyone that hasn't seen all the episodes. So I suggest that. Positive: Gowther's character change was a new decision. His story was entertaining, and I did grow to like him.I liked Meliodas's plan to fix his curse on Elizabeth. King and Diane getting together were nice to see, and their chemistry is always fun to watch. Hawk is an excellent character that will always make me laugh. And that's about it. Negative: Why did the animators have the blood look white???? If it were a creature race, then it'd be fine with me. The ten commandments were neat without going into everyone's backstory. Revealing that the Goddess race is evil in the holy war was a dumb move that made me go "wait, what?!" This season had gone into the depth of the evil characters, but that ruined the fun of the villains. Some things are better left unsaid...and AVOIDED! Gloxinia and Drole's backstory was okay but seemed pretty stereotypical. So I was annoyed at how the backstories were created. Escanor and Meliodas's fight was ten minutes of a snore. I didn't get why he needed to prove that he was the most muscular sin in the group. It's evident that Escanor is powerful, but I don't understand why the fight had to happen. Merlin could've knocked out Meliodas's demon ways with inert gas until he was needed again. The jokes were noticeable, but I didn't laugh at most of them, mainly because I was bored throughout the whole season. Now that I think about it, a lot of the fight scenes have been boring for me. I have a feeling that people out there would find the fight scenes to be entertaining, but I'm not one of those people. Now, I mention how I liked Meliodas's plan to fix Elizabeth's curse, but I wished that he had gathered all the sins himself for more interesting storytelling. I didn't get why he sought out the commandments souls himself. Estarossa is honestly my least favorite commandment because he wants to be Melidoas but, that results in him getting more potent by dumb decisions!!! I had no opinion about him at the end of S3, and then that changed completely. I didn't care about the story of Estarossa and was more interested in the overall story. I felt that Meliodas could've used the seven deadly sins to help him with his plan to break the curse rather than disband them. They'll help him rather than leave him to be the next demon king. The horrible ending is what pissed me off the most. I began to get interested in the story towards episode 22, and then 24 came and stopped midway through the fun. I know it's a dumb way to get people to keep watching the series. But at least do that after an epic battle with the villains. Now I have to wait for S4 until winter 2021. Hopefully, this series gets better and makes it more interesting.
By far one of the worst things I've watched in my life, the first and second seasons are really amazing, if you really like Nanatsu no Taizai, I recommend going to the manga after the second season Story 9: The story of Nanatsu no Taizai is actually very good, and this season is a direct continuation of the others, which reveal a lot of things, and develop some characters, was one of the reasons I finished watching this. Art 4: The art is terribly ugly and badly animated, you can see parts in episodes, the bad disproportion of the bodies, the bad painting and the relaxation inthe work, there are parts that I really think are PNG's, and they did it when they weren't in quarantine, imagine if... Sound 7: The soundtracks are good, but nothing memorable, it's hard to get into the mood with horrendous animation Character 8: Along with the good story, the characters are also very good, and well developed each one has its important point in the story, whether protagonist or villain Overall: Good story, good characters, but the grotesque animation and this meaningless censorship, which at the beginning seems to be coming out of the characters' milk, and at the end it seems that there's a led red coming out of the characters, and it all gets worse with the PT dubbing. /BR which is terribly bad, there are important parts that you really want to close because it's so bad, parts like Meliodas VS Escanor, which in the manga was so well done, in the anime it's so bad and anti-climactic, finally grade 4, watch if you really like Nanatsu and are too lazy to read
SAFE REVIEW - NO SPOILERS AHEAD I have read the manga, and this is one of the most appalling adaptations that I have ever seen. It was not hard to keep it at a decent level. Even thoug this arc had not mutch to offer. But even in the parts that it had something to offer it looked unfinished, like if no one cared. In the end I ended up having the feeling of being obligated to watch it. Just with the last of hope that some episode gets some respect, some of the love it deserves, but I got none of that. And let's be real. IfDragon Ball Super would have keep the animation they did in episode 6, no one would have watched it. That's the feeling I get on watching this season. Like if I was stuck in Haruhi Suzumiya's never ending cicle of the episode 6 of DBS. (I deeply hate Haruhi Suzumiya's anime, so you can imagine how bad this feels to watch) In resume, this season is not plesant to watch, better read the manga. And if by chance you don't want to read the manga, you'll have to swallow this crap, since it has some relevant plot for the upcomming saga. But do yourself a favor and skip it, as I said I personally think that it's not worth it.
I'm just disappointed. Bruh This season the plot so far is the best out of three seasons for me. The animation is SO bad the plot is so damn good but the animation just ruin the whole series Escanor vs Meliodas is very disappointing it supposes to be the best fight scenes of all time but Assualt meliodas go brrr like a Beyblade I'd be having a lot more enjoyment if the animations were better I really like the backstory it's soo good sometimes I was not expecting that. The opening is really good I love itstill pretty pog just like the first and second season I recommend watching for the plot and please don't expect much from animation
