Meanwhile, the socially anxious Takuma Akutsu learns that Odin has chosen him as the valkyries' lover. Despite his utter horror, however, he agrees to let the sisters stay in his big yet empty house to help them in their war against demons. With nine beautiful women sharing his roof, will Takuma manage to prevail over his fear of society and become someone worthy of saving the world? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Is this a must watch anime? No. But honestly tho, people be sheeting at this like its worse thing ever. I have seen much worse anime that has 7 or 8 rating on mal. The story is mediocre tbh, and the only saving grace of this show is its MC, the show just feels like your typical shounen/harem/ecchi sheet, but while this is the case, the MC is probably more likable than most shounen MCs ever. Like bruh the MC is not a totally pushover and has an actual goal, where tf can you find that level of competence in this cesspool genre of anime. People liketo moan about how this is basically a softcore hentai, but that's okay, and that's point of the show u hecking NPC, and please don't take this show too seriously like wtf, this show is just your typical trash anime. And the MC became a Joestar at the end (kinda, lmfao)
I don't know what anyone else could have expected from this show, of course it's terrible. But this is a kind of terrible that I find to be very appealing to watch at times. There's something about these battle harems that I find really enjoyable, but it's really hard to put my finger on what precisely it is. Maybe it's the base level titillation from the abundance of fan service. it could be the absurd and roundabout ways shows like these justify their fan service. Perhaps it's because of it's simple portrayals of characters. There's also the paper thin plot it has until it falls intothe deep end and simply becomes a joke. Or just a culmination of all the above which this show more or less is. Val x Love is kind of a monster of the week type of show with a thin coating of Norse mythology hence the Val in the title standing for Valkyries. Valkyries being the nine girls, each on fitting into a specific archetype such as the loli, kuudere, himedere, etc etc. Although the blonde haired tsundere also facilities as being the "main girl". All bounded to the main male protagonist who they must form a special/romantic bond with in order to level up like some video game character, and be more capable to fight the enemy and prevent Ragnarok(I think). The way that they bond is usually for the most part risque and mostly serve as the fan service of the show. Doing actions such as kissing, groping, bathing together, or just spending time together which also usually devolves into more fan service. I'm not sure if there's a word to describe the kind of person that characters like the protagonist are. He's such a heavily flawed in so many ways that it comes off more artificial rather than believable. He has a somewhat scary looking physique but is mostly a wimp who is scared of human interaction. The fact that he has to have intimate contact with the Valkyries exacerbates it. The only thing he is noticeably good at is studying, and even then the slightest bit of pressure can make him panic and fail exams. It’s all done so purposeful to the point of contrivance for the purpose of having easy character development. But that’s the thing, it’s so easy that it’s down right predictable from the very first episodes. Not to mention that if they weren’t to do that, all that would be left is a rather irritating character. The antagonists aren’t really that note worthy aside that they are also taken from parts of Norse mythology as well. I guess it's because the conflicts are more centered around the main protagonist sucking it up and kissing one of his harem in order for them to fight. Of course from the last paragraph it’s less of a conflict and more of an inevitable amount of time. There’s probably a lot I could say about the production value, but if you know what you’re getting into when it comes to the story and characters. You probably know what you are getting into when it comes to the visuals and audio. That is to say, it is serviceable for what it is. And that’s something that can also be said about the entirety of the show. It’s a serviceable bad show that isn’t a total joke, but enough that it can be seen in an ironically enjoyable light.
Date A Live: NORSE Edition Yeah right from this premise this harem anime felt much like an even raunchier Date A live but with Norse mythology (instead of Angels and Devils of Date A Live). But where the premise is interesting, there comes some elements that makes this anime rather mediocre right from the off and no it's not the fanservice, THAT is to be expected from a harem anime no the problem for LA becomes Takuma Akutsu voiced by Yuuya Hirose, as he's nicknamed as a demon as he looks extremely scary but he's the typical gentle giant and is focused more on study andin a ways he's the male version of the shy girl just with the scary aspects plastered in. The problem with him as unique of a main protagonist he is...at the start he's extremely hesitant to go into battle and generally useless and in the harem aspect, he's of course expectedly scared and nervous ALL THE TIME and under misunderstandings screeches the harem to a crawl. Of course he does improve over time but it's a slow crawl much like Takuma's plot and harem pacing. It's the harem he gets that is more interesting that of the Saotome sisters all having a certain Valkyrie aspect to them and of course they grow more powerful the more "love" Takuma gives out to them, with the harem being really focused on the romance of Natsuki voiced by Kaede Hondo and the typical tsundere, but LA's favourite character was Itsuyo voiced by Ai Kakuma because she's the President of the student body, femme fatale status and is a dadcon (in which her dad is ODIN). Mutsumi and Futaba gets some screentime to them especially in battle and prominence as the anime went along with Ichika voiced by Yumi Uchiyama on the background not doing the harem crap and is in the background helping Takuma and his harem. Shino and Kururi gets the shaft and yeah rather not get into Kururi in terms of the harem because loli but thankfully she's usually the setup to the more active harem members. The fanservice of the anime is rather typically risque mainly in the fact of the villains and the "akuma" leading the characters to risque and fanservicey moments (but they also get to fanservicey situations all in their won as well), as the akuma have "grabby hands" and you know where to go from there. While the more racy moments, well the fanservice only leads to nudity but not showing it, so it never leads to anything R18 and even then it's obviously implied if the camera looks away per say. In all the fanservice is risque for the most part but safe in some areas because TV broadcast standards and all. The animation done by Hoods Entertainment is rather meh, with consistent chibified comical moments even in it's battles and yeah since this is a fanservicey harem anime....censorship takes place. Really the character designs are distinct and good in a sense, it's when they go full chibified for NO reason at times that puts it's animation off at times, as for the battles it's ehhh ok, few beam spams or depending on the Valkyrie's power it goes from great to grabby grabby fanservicey...ehh the battles are alright but the character designs were somewhat squandered with the chibiness it has and sure maybe it's from the source material but even then. The voice cast was at the very least decent, from Ai Kakuma, Yumi Hara, Yumi Uchiyama, rina Hidaka, Misaki Kuno and Kaede Hondo. Yumi Uchiyama was pretty great doing the entire tsundere thing straight down the middle, while Kaede Hondo's Natsuki was based tsundere soo ehhhhhhhhhh. LA went for MVP as Ai Kakuma due to LA liking Itsuyo as a result. As a defence for Takuma, he DOES develop as a character, but due to his running gag being sooo shy yet "scary" becomes old VERY quickly but LA will give him A little bit of grace by saying he does develop as a main protagonist and is a bit unique in a sense, BUT with the typical harem setup, the HAREM has more investment BUT with having a rather meh main protagonist that needs ALOT of time to get on his own (round past halfway)...it's kinda hard to gain interest in this anime even in it's harem as the anime tries to push Natsuki ALOT while giving the sisters when they are needed (thus forever the support, but only until the plot said so). Moving away from characterization, where Val x Love DOES succeed in is it's world building, mainly taking things from Norse mythology and taking it as it's own in Val x Love through it's characters and what all this links to Takuma, the other would be that in it's comical situations though it's mostly the same running gag or just played for fanservice, the fanservice isn't THAT bad, if the censorship wasn't in the way but eh. Val x Love is a slow crawl of a fanservicey anime with the problem of Takuma but for a fanservicey harem anime it's ehhhh it's not the worse harem fanservicey anime LA has seen, Val x Love's detriment comes in as it's just "meh" even with it's flaws and in being a fanservicey anime, you might think LA doesn't like the fanservice in the anime, but Val x Love has an even worse problem with it's elements of it's characters and plot from "going all out" as it were. LA had mixed problems with Takuma for being a rather unique main protagonist for a fanservice harem anime BUT where he is set in as well as the harem and anime itself pushing Natsuki and Takuma any way possible DOES NOT HELP in the characterization and harem aspect respectively.
I always question myself every single time when we get such shows like this that cross the line between borderline ecchi and hentai, not to mention if it includes a possible harem. For the most part, when these materials are solicited according to how authors wanted it to be, the result always tends to wayward on the safe side while being enjoyable in its own regard (e.g. Monster Musume, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord etc). That however, is NOT the case for Val x Love here, the amount of disgust that this show holds is enough to question my sanity if the showwants to execute the downright full-on hentai like the manga, or at the very least, being a tease about it and just scratch the surface. What a wimp... Starting with the story, it's some ancient Norse mythology about 9 same-household name girls chosen to be Valkyries from the land of Valhalla, whom their father god Odin has ordained them to cease Fenrir's evil and the summoned Akumas (demons) within the earthly world, and the supposedly "tree of life" Einherjar (which is male MC Takuma Akutsu) is there as means of "thirsty bloodlust fuel" to not just be a catalyst for the Valkyries to power up, but for majority of the time, being a seductive harem magnet...just because. And we all know that shows like this just drives us off the hook, as that is being used blatantly for plot convenience rather than being a major factor in driving even bad storytelling worth investing into. And the problems just get more worse, starting with the character cast. Especially MC Takuma Akutsu himself, as being a big-buff human with a demonic face but a kind heart, it's easy to judge him on face value that due to his social anxiety, he wouldn't maintain a straight face and tend to hide away in the background. This kind of character, we all have seen an ounce of it before. The damning indictment is to send the 9 girls (not to mention they're all blood-related sisters), part of the same household onto him, as if discounting that these are the ONLY ones needed to quench his frightened heart, compared to the numerous school classmates and teachers readily available within reach. Trust me, I've tried many times to compensate "character development" for fapping fetish, and that almost works instantly every time. And comedy, you say? There ain't any of that sorts of it lying in here, that's for sure. The 9 Saotome girls, each unique and different in their own way, boobs big or small, are still subject to Takuma's groping hands to feel and "inject" the various Val x Love tasks (like as if I didn't know it was almost like a ripoff from Date A Live, only that the latter does it way better and less obnoxious). The problems don't end there, OH NO. As expected of Hoods Entertainment in their ever increasing mediocrity of shows, the visuals and animation are downright abysmal, there's no redeeming quality on it, especially on scenes where there's full-on nudity that's meant to be experienced like hentai shorts, but just with bad "light-source-shade" and "steamy" censorship on both the covering up of breasts nipples and private parts. And don't ever you say you never watched hentai before, when you know that the full experience we should've got ended up being a worrisome waste of fap material. Not to mention the flatness in the action scenes, it was exactly as advertised from the get-go with the PV(s), to put it simply, horrendous and unwatchable. IMO the only thing worth talking about is the music, and that's not even worth the saving grace either. The OST (the OP and ED rather) is catchy to me, but that even gets old fast, not to mention the cringeworthy background music that is chock full of the expressions of comedic lust. I'd appreciate the Technoboys Pulcraft Green-Fund for helping out with the various versions of the Saotome girls' ED, but that's the best I can say the good about this show overall in my honest opinion. All in all, this show isn't just worth your time, but shouldn't be worth a single prick of consideration. When life gives you lemons, Val x Love isn't the solution. Just avoid this shitshow and stay far, far away from this one.
Well, well, well only a handful of people made a review of this kind of harem themed anime, and quite frankly only a few gave this a high score, tsk tsk tsk welp that's their opinion, cu'z the bottom line there wasn't any love for this anime and who can't blame them???? When you have something like this where the story plot was simply all over the place and as one commentator has it in the forum the main character was the worse main character ever. Also, this anime was just too focus on the eye candy and ecchi to simply sell, so without anyfurther adieu, here were my ratings for this shitty anime: Story-Poor 3: like I've said the story plot of this anime was simply allover the place,in fact the story itself was more on the weird relationship of the lousy main character with his Valkyrie harem. Art-Very Good 8: Basically this was the only gold lining of this anime, the fan services and some nearly there quasi hentai. Sound-Fair 6: No Comment here. Character- Poor 3: It was said that Takuma Akutsu the Einherjar was basically the worse main character ever , and they're totally right cu'z he's one part pussy and 2 parts pathetic and 3 parts stupid, basically his character was a forced one where a pathetic guy like him becomes this Einherjar or should I say the one who's to be them Valkyries lover / sexual predator as a way of boosting their powers to fight against them demons..... TBH, only Natsuki and Futaba were the ones that he had some-kind of naked skinship with... the rest , well he only molested them except Kururi and Yakumo. The Saotome sister, well, they're the Valkyries, that for some reason started to invited themselves into Takuma's house and much to the guy, his life was never the same again as he also got involved in their business of dealing with them demons whom were out to destroy the world. As for them antagonist them demons lead by Ur and Tohru Inukai was pretty much as pathetic as the protagonist given that their roles as baddies were limited to simply being do lame bad things that even with the addition of Skud and Roskova was just lame that their action were just too predictable to say the least and the bad part was they got away. Enjoyment-Poor 3: frankly only those who couldn't get enough of harem themed anime can enjoy this to it fullest, frankly to me this was more of a chore than anything else. Overall- Pathetic 1: Season 2 anyone????? IMAO , don't even think about it BITCH!!!!
Not the worst but not the best is the best way to describe this anime. I think this would've been better if it was fleshed out properly. The pacing feels all so fast and slow, as you're slapped with all these characters, fleshing them out one by one through the episodes. Reading all the reviews, it feels like it is judged so poorly. I mean, the animation is mediocre (bearable) and the story flow is pretty common, but it has character development and it is enjoyable at some level. And let's face it, there are far worse anime compared to this that has higher ratings. Will recommend?Yes, but not strongly. Best to watch just to pass time or have a bit of entertainment. Solid 6/10 rating
Val x Love, Ikusa x Koi or, my favorite, The Fish Man and the busty girls(and Natsuki) is an anime that explores all the fetish that a human being can have. From Onee-chan's to Lolis, all of that is masterfully used in this masterpiece. In the first Episode, we are introduced to the MC, but nobody cares because we wanna see the thot girls, and we get it. First with Natsuki, Itsuyo and Mutsumi. And after with the rest of the Harem. Well Natsuki is the main girl, she is perfect, have small tits and have the best ecchi scene of the anime(Episode6). Itsuyo is the girl with Father complex, she loves her dad and want to have his d in the precious hole, so the MC becomes an Pseudo-dad and doesn't fuck her because he is a Gentleman. Mutsumi is the idol girl and is a Masochist(Val Love of doing perverts thing withount being seen). Well, we have others girls too, but they weren't so important, due this facts i gonna explain the complexity of their personality. Yakumo is in the age between an JK and a Loli so she is minor and i don't have interest in her. The same argument goes to Kuriri, but i have a statement. She is cute and funny (BEST GIRL). In the end of the anime, we are introduced to a Busty woman with White hair(She is without clothes in the scenes that she appears) this woman is the 4°girl, Shino. In the manga, Shino have a very good ecchi scene, but this part don't get adaptation in the audio visual midia. The first daughter of Odin, Ichika, is a horrible waifu so i don't wanna coment about her. Well, the left two is Misa and Futaba. Futaba is the best Onee-chan, she is hot as fuck and have a big pair of tits, but her ecchi scene is crap. Misa, in other hand , is the Cool sister, she is a awesome person and the episode that have her ecchi scene isn't so "Ecchi", she wear a sweater and the MC sees her tits and panties, but as light as this scene is, my dick beccomes harder with her moans so she is the second best girl. About the History, we have an excellent character development of the MC, in the start he is a Boring Gentleman, and in the End he is a True Gentleman who put his dick in the girls sometimes for the "Level up" or for "Save the world". The only criticism that i have is the fact that Natsuki is the main gril. I know she is hot, but she doesn't have the charisma of the others girls. I mean, this anime could be 100 times better if Misa have more Screen time or if Ichika doesn't exist. But even though it doesn't happen, the anime is a Solid 10.
I turned my review section to place where can i deliver my thought on this manga. so please be aware that this could led to spoiler. ------------------- I give 8/10 instead of 7/10 if the main character is not wimpy. it's one of my least fav trait when it come to any character. but the main character is not that bad all, it was ok and i don't think i ever hate it. would like to have season 2 to see takuma new self. ok let's get to the point of what I like about this series: - the fmc is very lovely, not too tsundere, the honestyto their feeling is there but not much as I hoped for. - The art is great - As for the story, hmmm just so-so? but atleast it took 1 day for me to complete this series( where it usually took 3-4 days) what I don't like: - not big fan of ecchi...rather watch hentai.(to be fair, what i don't like is, every time the fight scene occur, naked scene or any erotic scene will always be there) - wimpy male mc might be update in the future
I dont know why people are hating it. This anime is not for story but for fanservice. Lots of ecchi stuff to enjoy. For me Norse Myths with ecchi content is enough . I never watch harem anime for story but story in this anime is not that bad either. MC from this anime has a goal, is not your everyday popular dude, often misunderstood, caring , unlike other dudes in harem anime has a manly build. The girls are not easy going thots. The charecter design is good, every girl is unique So yea the anime is good ecchi anime with descent story
Val x Love (2019) The show itself being around Norse Mythology but in Japan with a protagonist that inherits a power that gives him a harem around him. It seems pretty trashy in that sense because it is. They level up per se with the power of love and doing all sorts of dating situations. The MC is someone who appears scary and that is because he is effectively not good in crowds. He also has had a somewhat traumatic childhood that has left him pretty isolated. The girls or Valkyries come into his life and things change for the better. As much as the showis ecchi, it is also pretty heartwarming in the sense of the struggle this guy has had. He also can be a bit annoying since he has such a great situation. Of course, the girls vary in age and they don't dare in the show have him do anything lewd with the youngest which is great to see since that would throw the show off-balance. The art of the show is of a good standard and fits in with the lewdness very well and effectively. Clarity can be seen to drop at various points in the show. Sounds for the show feature a pretty nice OP and ED. The general sounds throughout are pretty good. The voice actors are nicely varied and well suited. The Characters in the show many sits around the protagonist, the Valkyries and the antagonists. The MC is a pretty frustrating character since it isn't until right at the end he finally breaks his shyness so it creates a tough atmosphere to watch throughout. The Valkyries are all varied in personality. 3 of them have very strong feelings towards our MC, one of them is pretty hostile and one of them isn't seen until the end. Another is very playful with him. For the rest, they are either young so just act like a cute sister or older so act like older sisters. The antagonists again we see what is a young boy of great power but that isn't really shown much. A guy around the same age as the MC who is the typical overconfident enemy and we get the best two which is a small blonde girl (pretty cute) and her maid/lover who form the main obstacle in the show. The show for its most part is actually good in the enjoyment. There are times that due to the MC it can be a bit boring since his personality sucks pretty badly. In the end, however, the ride is pretty fun throughout and is recommended. A second season would be welcome. Hopefully, they would improve on the previous mistakes but after the ending we kind of need to see it continue. That being said it did shut off about 70% you could say so perhaps that is enough to go read the rest.
This is the first time I am writing a review but this one needs it. The worst part of the anime is The MC. He is Lame (Not his looks), but his personality and he is kinda worthless. I dindnt fully enjoy the story but it was a decent one. There animation is fine. The only reason Iam giving it a average rating instead of bad or poor is because of the fan service. And it is amazing. I loved nearly every girl and the ecchi element. It is not the best but it is good. So if you want fan service and don't givea shit about story or characters or anything then go for it. The goal of the antagonist is not made very clear and not good. Overall watch this anime for only fan service.
At the beginning it didnt really cause my attention, I even have the feeling that I wanted to just drop the anime, but since I have an rule to follow and that is no dropping of any anime no matter how bad I feel, reaching toward the end of VAL X LOVE I would say was not a regret for me. I even add it to my wish for SECOND SEASON LIST! The reason that the anime at first didnt caught my attention was that I feel really disappointed seeing the main character, who is Takuma, always being a scaredy cat and he just lookso pathetic till the very end EXCEPT EPISODE 12 ;). Another thing is that the story seem to start out of nowhere there is no explanation on how they actually met and why they live together everything is just to sudden, so it feels like something is lacking. However, overall I like the story especially the reasons they fight and also how the anime ends, it just made me more and more curious how the CREATORS will actually make Takuma choose between the girls or it will be harem and stuff plus I believe there is a lot of material for SEASON 2 AND HONESTLY IM KINDA EXPECTING IT!!! I just hope they will make it better on seasons 2, PLZ MAKE TAKUMA MORE MANLY TSK!!!
Okay, here I am, the first time I’m writing a review. So take it easy with me.If I’m being honest on how much I liked this show. It would be totally a good rating. A show like this is worth mentioning when they’re asking recommendations. So let’s get with the scores. The Story: 10 The story began very interesting at first. A boy who has been living alone for the past 8 years suddenly gets a call from the mighty god Odin that he is sending his daughters to Earth(Midgard) to save the worlds from the demons. This unique feature got me hooked on the anime. And as it goes on the more we learn about the character’s past and how they live a normal life. The Sound: 9 The sounds has been a tough decision and it’s 9 for a good reason. The intro and outro are very memorable and significant to the story as it relates to the major plot while not revealing any major information about it. And as the music hits the right exact moment of climax makes it way better. The voice acting is also great, as each character has its tone of voice and attraction to them. While the protagonist voice is very deep and shy; he also has its moment of bravery. Somehow I feel very satisfied with the voice acting which is a rare occasion. The Characters:10 Wow, when I first heard that Odin sent her daughters to earth I immediately thought of all of them going to school and being irresponsible. But no, all the characters are unique in their way: as only three of them go to high school and the three of them have a different role in their school. While the rest might be too young or old for it. And so, each characters is unique in their way. And they don’t resemble each other, which is outstanding work. The protagonist is the one that stands out in all of them because being treated like garbage at school due to no reason is tough. He has a kind soul but he is afraid of people which is a first case of trauma to me in this kind of animes. Enjoyment: 10 This was another hard part. Enjoyment, the time I enjoyed this. Well, I loved it. I paused the rest of the animes that I was watching just to watch this. I felt that this anime need more attention and care then the others at the moment. As I waited anxiously for every new episode while expecting the impossible of it. Overall: 10 In overall, this is a great anime to me. And the rest of the people on the reviews saying that it is bad, they’re kind of wrong because they haven’t even watched it all. Give it a go. As it brings the impossible to your screen. And to be honest I hope it gets another season because a great anime like this deserves a great 2nd season.
I think that this show deserves a better rating. As a a person who enjoys and watches harems this harem had it all in my books. It takes your usual normal mc with typical antisocial behaviors but takes it to an extreme. The anti social problem is explored throughout the whole show and is not forgotten. This is a classic zero to hero story with a harem added. If you want to see a show were the mc becomes zero to hero and explores his love with his harem than this show is for you. Not to mention the outro is a banger. Overall thisshow in my opinion is a wholesome harem love story and I really enjoyed it.
tl;dr: An anime that tries to do a lot of things and feels like it has a lot of potential with quite a few of them, but doesn’t quite reach the point that it’s successful with any. Val x Love is a pretty generic harem battle anime that like many in the genre is primarily centered around female fighters that draw power from romantic acts with the protagonist. I’m totally okay with that concept as long as it is implemented well, but in this case while the anime didn’t feel like it was particularly bad at anything, it didn’t really feel like it did great atanything either, and thus there wasn’t anything that made the anime stand out. In terms of the overarching plot, it draws pretty heavily on Norse mythology though mostly to a pretty superficial degree as most anime seem to do. The nine daughters of Odin, the Valkyries, have come down from Asgard to defend Earth, also known as Midgard, from the Wicked Gods, but need to use the powers of the Einherjar, the protagonist in order to manifest their powers fully. The general concept is decent enough I suppose, but it doesn’t really extend at all beyond that. There are good guys. There are bad guys. The good guys need to beat the bad guys. That’s it. The motivations of the antagonists are never fleshed out or explained. There are no major twists or events that change things up. It’s just ridiculously simple. Character wise there also isn’t that much substance. The protagonist, Takumi, in hindsight I think has a pretty decent concept. He’s huge and has a terrifying face so he’s been feared since he was a kid, which has given him major social anxiety. Him now having to romance nine girls is completely beyond what he’s capable of, which results in him looking incredibly lame for most of the anime. Despite that, that when he’s not being effected by his social anxiety, he’s really competent, being pretty strong, smart, and reasonably decisive, so he does manage to shine at times. The thing though is that these moments are very rare, with him only properly being shown in a good light for an extended period of time in the last episode, though even that is pretty rushed. I think his character is a good base concept to show character growth, but in the anime it came through as too little too late and thus while in the end I didn’t dislike the protagonist, I didn’t like him either. The problem with the rest of the cast is that there were too many characters. There are nine heroines. Of those, three of them are the main heroines it seems, but it felt like most all of them got at least some focus. That’s way too many characters for a single cour anime, and as a result none of them really got to shine. Thus, they all felt incredibly flat and one dimensional. They have a decent enough variety to them and decent enough concepts individually such that they’re interesting enough, but there simply wasn’t enough time to give them any depth at all. The same applies to the relationships with the protagonist. This anime goes a bit further than any other similar anime I’ve seen in tying the relationship aspect to powers in that it straight up gamifies it, wherein the heroines power levels are literally determined based on obtaining experience points from romantic quests they get like “go on a date” or “kiss for five minutes” which I thought was a really amusing concept that a lot could be done with, and it does seem to at least try to use it in an interesting variety of ways. However, it largely feels rushed and doesn’t spend enough time on most of these quests, and just overall doesn’t spend enough time on any single relationship, jumping around way too much. Thus it doesn’t feel like there’s enough depth and thus it’s kind of hard to really get into or invested in any of this. The lack of depth also extends to the action. It actually feels like there are two types of action in this I’d say. The first involves the heroines in their normal states, which I will call minor action. Here it’s less straight up battles as it is random hijinks, like the antagonists trying to screw with the protagonist’s date and such to try to prevent the heroines from powering up. It’s less a matter of straight up fights between opposing factions and more simply trying to get out of weird situations through the usage of powers. This was interesting when it happened as the set ups were pretty interesting, but it felt like there wasn’t enough of these. The second type of action I’d call major action, which is where the cast is going all out fighting in their powered up forms, often inside a barrier that separates them from the outside world. The action here also isn’t terrible, with their being some degree of set up to the various power sets and and how the battles should be used which gives some depth and there are moments where things can click that are pretty cool, but largely things remained too nebulous, haphazard, and random, and thus the action here too didn’t feel all that amazing. The comedy also can be quite good at times, but it has a really narrow range, being primarily centered around the protagonist being kind of lame, which is a kind of humor I’m not particularly fond of to be honest, and thus I felt it got old really quickly. The anime also has a lot of ecchi, but never anything too major to the extent that it would need to get censored. For a show that isn’t relying on ecchi and just kind of has it tacked on as an extra it would be decent enough, but it isn’t enough to hold up the anime in and of itself as it does with some others. Furthermore, the manga apparently goes much further so I’d assume this would be disappointing to fans of the manga. The art and animation aren’t bad, but they’re not particularly great either. Overall I’d say things are pretty middling, wherein it looks somewhat good at times, somewhat bad at times, but mostly just looks decent. This level would be perfectly fine for some anime, but this anime seems to be big on both action and ecchi, both of which rely heavily on the visuals aspect, and the middling level of quality extends to them too, so it can feel a bit disappointing. Design wise, most of the designs are somewhat plain and dull. The exception is the powered up forms of the Valkyries which generally look pretty amazing I think, but they don’t show up enough. In terms of voice acting it was fine for the most part, but I would like to note that the protagonist’s voice got really annoying. It was clearly intended that the protagonist should sound lame most of the time so the moments he doesn’t stand out, and thus on one hand I have to hand it to the voice actor who did an amazing job and made the protagonist sound unbearably lame, but on the other hand, hearing his lameness throughout the anime was incredibly grating at times. The OP and ED were decent enough in terms of audio and visuals but not particularly exceptional. There are multiple variants to the ED which focus on different character’s which is something I generally appreciate. There’s are a few characters that shows up somewhat into the anime that they hide the faces of in the OP/ED until the episodes after they appear, but I largely didn’t see the point of that as it isn’t like the faces served as spoilers. The soundtrack was decent I suppose but not particularly memorable.
It could have been a nice, humourous Ecchi/Harem anime, if it had been given the proper time to develop. The characters are nice, the Yamada jokes are not that bad, the MCs do have some chemistry, but it sort of feels as if they tried to cram 24 or more episodes onto one short season, in a way that even someone who hasn't read the manga knows that there's a lot missing. I really dislike the way they tried to cover important plot points with flashbacks and just randomly insert background information like the whole "Our Majesty" thing with Futaba that had not been previouslymentioned or the day he met Natsuki. Again, the girls are pretty and really likeable, the premise might not be the freshest but it's definitely entertaining. It's just such a shame to see such potential going to waste for the lack of better judgement on the direction's behalf. If they had made a good, albeit incomplete, first arc (and an uncensored blu-ray), this series could definitely get a second season.
This is hentai without showing the actual sexual stuff. The characters for the most part have nice designs and some potential, but none of it reached because of the terrible plot for this show. I don't like the story whatsoever. If the story/plot of the show could be changed while keeping the characters then it might have been a decent or average anime. However, the plot is such an important aspect of anime that it is not even anywhere near decent or fun to watch. I found myself skipping a lot of the scenes because of how boring and poorly written the story was. Let metell you, I never skip anime scenes. If I find animes to be boring or slow, I usually 1.5x or drop the anime. Because I found the characters to be somewhat likable, I ended up watching it, but the story made me want to just skip it. The animation is also pretty good for what the show is about.
A very unique twist to your typical anime of this type. Having the MC be completely different than typical MCs of this genre really did open up a world of opportunities. The story, while unique, is a bit dull and feels overplayed in some way. Of course, this only applies to certain aspects of the story, but each part of the story influences it all, so it ends up feeling dull a bit. This was somewhat well done in the end, and my Akuma boy really did well throughout this. Personally, the assortment of character types and how they act in certain situations and events is whatsaves this. Each character has their own unique ways and | feel like that's what makes them feel like proper beings. There were some episodes where it felt like nothing was happening or that something happened for the sake of happening. At least, to me, it felt like this. The animation was more than I was expecting, however. From the environments to the characters, everything felt well done and fleshed out. Everything was very pleasant to the eye. Overall, not a bad watch. Of course, this isn't for everyone, as it's kind of an acquired taste of some sort. Some people might enjoy this more than others. This is nothing that will change your world, but it's a good experience
