Surfed around on netflix on a Saturday night after a pretty fat joint. I found this weard animated the series and ended up watching both seasons during the night. A week later I had to see everything again because it was that good, and because I did not exactly remember everything. This is the most underrated series I have seen. Stupid and ridiculous humor, weird cute characters and an exciting story get you annoyed that there is no more then two seasons at the moment. Hopefully there will be more soon, the series also opened my eyes to Chinese animation. Highly recommended!
So this is my first review, please be gentle. :) Firstly, this anime is one of the most underrated anime of all time. P.S.A this is not Japanese but rather is Chinese. But since you are here you should know that already. Let's begin Story: 8/10 It carries the torch of what the previous season passed on. It is the continuation of the protagonist is developed further. If you like the storytelling of the first season you would like this too. We get a look at Liuqi's past and his history with the assassins. Sound: 8/10 Good use of songs and decent sound design which puts emphasis on the events happeningin the scene. Nothing too special but does its job well. Art: 9/10 Many said the arts not good but personally I felt it added to the overall humour of the scene Superb animation quite an improvement from the first season. The action sequences have top-notch production value Characters: 10/10 The same lovable cast with some more development on the female assassin and also on the side characters. Overall: 9/10 if you liked the first season you would like this too. Highly recommended!
Honestly guys, I was literally ecstatic and excited to hear when Killer Seven announced that it is having a second season. It was so good to see Liuqi and the gang back together again for more great fighting scenes and of course the unusual new characters they face every so often through episodes! Not to mention, this season has also great music in store! I really hate that we are only getting 15 minutes and only just 10 episodes like seriously I want my season 3 of this now, this show is criminally underrated man!!!! Anyways to those who try to attempt season 2 first, you'll get abetter overview of what's going on in the first season and the side story episodes previous to this! Very pleased with season2 overall!
If i had to summarize this anime i'd say "Underrated Chinese Mob Psycho 100". Seriously, this show definetly deserves bigger audience than little poor 2000 something members on this site. (yes, I know not everybody has MAL but still, Scissor Seven is not popular at all, considering the fact that if it weren't added to Netflix then i'd never ever hear about it) Anyway, i'll try to keep this review short as it's second season so the only people reading this are people that are either familiar with show and are interesterd whether 2nd season is as good as the first one (It's even better)or people that have already seen it and want to compare their opinions to others. STORY; It continues where 1st season extra special episodes left us off. Killer 7 is trying to live his new normal life but he soon finds out that the country which exiled him is actually sending killers to kill him, and his friends in order to take over the island. ART: If you've watches season one then you know what to expect. If you haven't then it's children's fairy tale at first glance only to find out later during fights that it actually has bigger animation quality than some of the most popular shows on this site. It's not a sin ot call it Chinese Mob Psycho 100 as i said before. Also, i've noticed significant improvement if compared to season 1 which made my eyes sh*t with rainbow while watching. SOUND: It fits and that's it actually. Nothing special to remember. CHARACTER: They're getting improved. *LITTLE SPOILERS BELOW* -Killer Seven is discovering his past and regains some of his lost memories. -Thirteen is slowly starting to have her little inner fight between her emotions and her professionalism. -Some interesting improvements of 2nd plan characters. Grandma that i forgot her name is revealed to have quiet interesting backstory from her young days. ENJOYMENT: It felt like 10 minutes while i was devouring the whole season. And i'm hungry for more. OH GOD I'M HUNGRY, NETFLIX PLEASE FEED ME MORE. OVERALL: 8/10, would forget and watch again
English. Damn, what a better second season, not only does it surpass its predecessor, it also gives us a very good story where they resolve conflicts from the previous season in addition to giving us a new perspective and idea of the characters in this series. From the previous season I had said that the animation is great and here they show that the quality does not decline, the characters are deeper and they also show us new ones who are just as charismatic and creative. The story once again gives us new perspectives as well as being entertaining and the conclusion makes you want tosee without a doubt the next season of this great story.
The spouse and kid had previously seen this Netflix hidden gem, and once season 3 dropped we committed to a re-watch so our memories would be fresh. Art 6/10 Since the first season of Scissor 7 was a success on Netflix, producers gave the series more budget and it REALLY shows especially in the art. The charcters are crisper, the backgrounds more detailed, the weapons ... and the fight choreography, well they are all so much better than Season 1 or the OVA. Like Season 1, I can still see the manga panels from which it is animated. It's a huge improvement, and for this I amglad. Story - 8/10 Wu Liuqi, is a terrible assassin and he and his mentor Bo Dai (his Blue Chicken friend) are now broke. There's now competition from a batch of new barbers, and threats from outsiders, whether the martial arts assassins, or the technologically superior clan who seem hell bent on destroying the peaceful lives of those who live on the island. The stakes are higher and the story better in Season 2. Sound - 8/10 Remember when I said in my season 1 review that Bo Dai and Liuqi, our main character, speak Mandarin until they get upset, and then both tend to lapse back into native Cantonese. This is actually proven when Liuqi has a conversation with his past self, Liuqi speaks Mandarin and his past self speaks Cantonese!! OMG!! It is like he rejects his past self to the point he chooses to speak another language!! Epic. The OST is also greatly improved. Character - 9/10 In season 2 we get actual character development and backstory, as the past of our main characters is revealed making them richer, less stereotypical and more than one dimensional. Supporting characters come into their own and it's so funny! * Wu Liuqi - a good person, decent hair dresser, nice to others, but an idiot and a perv * Bo Dai - we now know why he is how he is. * Thirteen - tragic backstory x10 but her heart is not dead despite it all * Kitty and Mad Bark - the supporting character to their backstory ... with his magical power, I am laugh crying just thinking about it. So funny. * Pentagon Faced Bodyguard - this guy is just funny. Even when he's doing nothing. Whoever invented this character, thanks for the laughs. * Purity Association President - now THAT is a backstory. Plus her moves ... wow ... did not see that coming. Enjoyment 9/10 Generally, comedy / parody hits its stride. It is funny as hell and the episode with Sad Guitar episode made us all laugh, and laugh, and laugh even more as it was clearly parodying all those artistic / sad music videos to the hilt. And that song. ROFL. It still has a very "Mob Psycho 100" feel to it with the typical huge Shounen martial arts super power fighting. I enjoyed this much more than Season 1. Overall 8/10 More people should watch this Netflix hidden gem. The laughs kept coming, the stakes got higher, things are more ridiculous, we had a real good time and are now looking forward to season 3.
Out of 100 Nobles watching… 92 were impressed! 8 weren’t as wowed as they were the first time Holy heck! Scissor Seven got a second season… and it’s good! This sleek little number wormed its way into my heart two years ago and now with no real fan-fare that I can notice is back again continuing its story. Sharefun studio returns to us once again famous for such works as Scissor Seven, Scissor Seven OVA 1, and Scissor Seven OVA 2. Sharefun’s one and only export is Scissor Seven and I hope they keep at it until they’ve finished telling the story they want to tell. If you watchedseason one, you’ll like season two, but there are a few side points I’ll run out to you here. The sound track is still an absolute banger and really fun. The animation is still inky, expressive, and fun. I watched the OP and ED of every episode just because it was pleasant to view and listen too. We still have a pleasantly simple short run time of around two to three hours for the entire season. This second season did feel a little less impactful. Season one was such a masterpiece due to its self-contained episodic narratives that had incredible emotional impact. A lot of season two is revisiting season one characters or is generally a little more light hearted which I felt gave the season less impact. Outside of a cg sword pretty much everything in the show looked great. A few lazily animated gags, but overall, it’s just pleasant painterly frames passing by my perception. Attention to detail is lovely here. For example, the hair ornament tied to the end of a character’s braid makes a clink sound when she lands on the ground in a crouching position. Stories good, fight scenes are good, style is good, music is good. Just watch it already.
Wu Liuqi Zhi Zui Qiang Fa Xing Shi (2019-2020) A marked improvement to the first season by quite a vast amount. The second season of Scissor Seven as it is better known brings us to the same island with the same people to which you may find a bit dull. What we actually get is a much more interesting story with more of the wacky animation as before. The art of the show is not great but it is not meant to be and that is the chosen style. It is a good watch since everything is so crazily done. It is very reminiscent of SamuariJack's animation in a modern take. When Thirteen blushes it is pretty cute. The sound comes with a nice OP and a great ED. Generally, we get really great sounds from fight scenes with great SFX noise used when needed which adds great depth. Characters continue on the same journey as before but it all gets a bit deeper into the development. We get a few shock surprises with some characters and some great developments even romantically. Romantic development was really something that I did not expect. One character towards the end is Redtooth an antagonist. When you see his story you can totally see where he is coming from. I would say compared to the first season it is a faster pace, the action is much better and the show feels more fun to watch.
Its an amazing show. At this moment in time i've seen over 700 shows and this is the most unique show of them all. The first season was good, but this season is amazing. The animation is way better. I watched the show English Dub and Sub and i can tell you this. The DUB gives a way better viewing experience. In this season we can see a lot of character development and the sound design suits the show very well. The art style is simple for the most part, but amazing when it matters. I can see a lot of time was put intoit. There is a lot of detail you are missing if you wantch the show in SUB, that is why i recommend you watch it in english dub. The comedy is on point every time. Overall an amazing show
I'll make this short. Personally, this is my favorite season so far (comparing to the first and third). It balanced between Seven's past and his present with the introduction of other characters. The opening may seem not that interesting, but it makes us wonder "is this some kind of a foreshadowing?". Absolutely love the color pallete and animation. This season really pushed Seven to "reunite" with his past self. Not giving him any option but to protect the island by tidying up the mess he made 2 years ago. Scissor Seven is painfully underrated, I truly hope it gets more attention as the fourth season airs.
This show has really taken my by surprise. It wasn't advertised anywhere, it didn't come recommended. I had time to kill and was just listing random stuff and ran into it and to be completely frank I am so glad I did. Story and art isn't the best one out there but it's higher than average I'd say. What really sells this is humor and character building. This has to be the only anime that actually made me laugh. Not a smirk or ironically say "ha ha" but genuinely laughed. Loved every second of it which sadly there's not enough of...
best character development Every anime has something special that sets it apart. Whether it’s the incredible world-building, the relatable characters, the beautiful art style, or the deep themes that stick with you, each one has its own unique charm. Every time I watch, I’m transported to a new place, meet unforgettable characters, and experience stories that stay with me long after the episode ends. Anime has a way of making me feel everything from excitement to inspiration, and I love how each series leaves a lasting impression on my heart. Here’s to all the anime that’s made an impact on my life and to discovering evenmore amazing series that will continue to inspire and entertain.
It has a rougher start than season 1, but gets to the better episodes a lot sooner. If you enjoyed season 1 then it's more of the same, which is a good thing. The new characters and backstory are good. The only downside is that animation seems to have gotten even worse, especially at the beginning. Like it's a slideshow at times, which I understand they probably did the best with what they had, but it's noticable. It was a bit funny when they had one battle be super low budget since it was through the eyes of someone hallucinating, but that got a bit ofas well. It fits get a bit better bit the last few episodes though. It looks like the next season will be a bit more plot heavy, so I'm looking forward to that. As for this season, if you didn't like the first season I wouldn't recommend, but I did and this one is good too.
