i would say the first season was very enjoyable breaking the fourth wall in very subtle ways was something that hooked me to the anime in the first place. That was gone in second season, after that it was just a power fentasy with overpowered mc with plot armor. The art was great the sound/ost were also good but the story just fell down the drain. With no certain direction for the show it just became an overall shitshow if i may say. It just feels like a bad copy of the disastrous life of saiki k. Which btw if you haven't watched is similar concept withbetter execution. thats all i have to say since it first time for me to be writing a review. english is not my first language so im sorry if i offend anyone with my spellings or grammer... cheers, have a great day,God bless.
Story : 6/10 Honestly, it's just like the same old op mc fantasy anime. I'm not saying it's boring, but thanks to the skit or the running gag from eps 1-12 that makes it more enjoyable and funny (more like a small "haha" laugh). One particular episode that pique my interest, the whole concept of that particular episode is so meta and very different than other anime. Art : 7/10 The design is simple, not boring to look at. Even though it kinda ruined because of the "small fry" CGI, other than that, the design is simple and fun to look at. N.P : Thanksto this anime, we have a lot of waifu material here. Sound : 6/10 Since I like fantasy-ish story (magic and stuff), it's below my expectation especially after watching the big isekai (Mushoku Tensei, Tensura, etc.) Character : 6/10 Since it's not fully comedy anime, I was expecting some character development like what they did in season 1. A bit disappointed. Why ? Without the side character and the heroine, MC is really boring. The character interaction is so boring and simple but for some reason they make the side characters interaction is more enjoyable than the MC with other side character(s). Enjoyment : 7/10 Pro : 1. Good magic fight 2. Good side character(s) interaction with each other or with the MC. 3. The comedy aspect gave you a good small "haha" Cons : 1. The MC is really boring, definitely the quality drop from season 1 2. Sound from this anime also disappointing even though it's magic-ish anime 3. The story is kinda bland, typical op mc. Conclusion/Overall : I hope they improve the quality of this anime in season 3. Especially the sound and the MC itself.
The Daily Life of an Immortal King 2 recap Wang Ling is back again for more episodic gag comedy. After a climactic last season, we are back to normal with varying challenging scenarios befall Wang Ling and Su Rong as they power through the top. Opponents ranging from interdimensional monsters, imprisoned villains, political families arranging marriages and many more discover the power of Wang Ling's unintentional wrath. Will this season be filled with the classic Wang Ling style or will it all fall apart? Story & Characters: 6/10 This season's story is as episodic as ever with different smaller scenarios filling up the screen time. There are alot of aspects that the Daily Life of the Immortal King tries to manipulate in order to be fun to watch and engaging like focusing on side character backgrounds in the case of Su Rong's families financial troubles or Sister Lin's part time job and spirit sword. However, many of these scenarios don't add value to the characters since they are discarded as soon as the episode finishes and we rarely see characters like Sister Lin in the later episodes. This series has a large amount of characters with more introduced in season 2 and many of them stay on screen but they feel a lot more superficially developed like Sister Lin or even Wang Ling who is ignored until a situation gets serious - This leads to unnecessary drag of each episode. I didn't find it as engaging as the first season and Wang Ling's team & antagonists were much more manageable. This season's ending felt really anticlimactic and cliché to every other save the world from invasion style series. (Also if you haven't realized by now, this is a gag series (or is becoming one) mimicking features from Mob Psycho, One Punch Man, Saiki K, Dragon Ball Z, Assassin's Creed etc. it seems a lot of people have missed that) Art & Sound: 5/10 The art and animation has been the series weakness, most screen time consists of minimal movement and reused frames. The colors and details offset the lack of movement since they are of great quality; When it comes to action, the animation is a lot more visually appealing. However, my expectations dropped when the studio purposefully chose CGI to 'break the 4th wall'. CGI takes a lot of effort to set up correctly and we can see there didn't seem to be much effort in the quality of Su Rong and Wang Ling's character design for CGI. It felt clunky and distracting from the scene because they didn't suit the setting. The sound was average, the female voice actors felt needlessly high pitched for young adults. The music choice was average most of the time and could switch from happy to suspenseful when an enemy approaches. There wasn't an iconic theme used so it was hard to add emotional appeal to scenes that needed it. Overall & Enjoyment: 6/10 This season definitely felt lower quality in all aspects; With the new season around the corner I am not as excited as I'd hope to be. It would be a lot more interesting to have episodic situations that add to existing characters like Chen Chao or fatty instead of introducing new characters and focusing on them temporarily until they aren't needed (goes for some villains as well). Season 1 did a great job of this by focusing on Wang Ling's team a lot more while this season attempted to be more ambitious and explore the extension of its world.
1st season was pretty good, I loved it. With the second season, it felt way too filler-esque. I understand it is an anime not heavily driven by plot, but in season 1 I could appreciate what plot there was. The plot for season 2 is underutilized and not really there. There were some really funny jokes and 4th wall breaks, but due to the fact that it felt like such a drop-off from season one, I could not rate it higher than a 6. The art was really good, just like the first season of the show. I really appreciated the visuals because they feltvery enjoyable. The music was average. Not much, if anything, changed from season one, so I wouldn't say it's fantastic, but I would not say it was bad either. Also not enough Frog Dog (tbf, there will never be enough frog dog)!
"The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season 2" is an anime that can be a hit or miss for most viewers. The show's strengths lie in its visual aesthetics and originality, while its weaknesses are its audio design and writing structure. Overall, it is a fun and enjoyable show that may not satisfy everyone's taste. Writing Structure - 0.49/0.80 The writing structure of the show is a bit lacking. While the story depth and plot complexity are average, the pacing and character development could be improved. The show tends to rush through its story, leaving little room for character development or building up to emotional moments. However, the writing quality and dialogue are decent with it seemingly comedic moments, which helps make up for some of these flaws. Visual Aesthetics - 1.93/2.40 The visual aesthetics are undoubtedly the highlight of the show. The art style is gorgeous, and the animation is consistent throughout the series. However, it does not offer anything outstanding. You could say the show's use of color is also impressive and adds to the overall appeal of the anime. The visuals also support the story well, as the animation and direction quality enhance the action scenes. Audio Design - 0.83/1.60 On the other hand, the audio design of the show is not as strong. While the music quality is good, the sound effects and voice acting quality are average. There is also little use of music to fit the tone and mood of the show, which makes some of the emotional moments less impactful. The sound design could be improved to contribute better to the mood and atmosphere of the anime. When it comes to the voice acting, the voice acting in the dubbed version can be unbearable at times, which affects the overall viewing experience. Hence, the audio rating should be lower than the visuals though one could say there is an improvement over the previous season's utter lack of emotion in the voice acting. Emotional Engagement - 0.41/0.72 The emotional engagement in the show is decent, but it could be better. The series does not offer much in terms of complex themes or emotions. Still, it makes up for it with its simple yet engaging story that keeps the audience hooked throughout the series. This simple yet engaging storyline adds to the emotional engagement aspect of the show. Enjoyment - 1.15/1.50 Viewer's are likely to find an enjoyable and satisfying show with this one. The show balanced its elements well and introduced entertaining elements that made the show engaging. Additionally, the ending was satisfying, which is important for viewers. What people are to look for most in this one are the last few shows of the season which makes everything worthwhile in the long run of watching the show. Genre Convention - 0.34/0.50 The show's adherence to genre conventions is average. While it is faithful to the genre, it lacks creative deviation from the genre, subversion of genre tropes, and effective use of genre-specific elements. The handling of character archetypes is good, but there is room for improvement in introducing fresh elements. Originality - 1.30/1.68 In terms of originality, the show has some strengths. It is unique and innovative, experimenting with new techniques and handling of genre conventions. It also introduces new concepts and ideas, standing out in the genre. However, it does not break away from clichés and tropes as much as it could, and the handling of complex themes could be improved. Cultural Significance - 0.22/0.36 Finally, the show's cultural significance is low. Though one notable aspect of the show is its potential to introduce the Chinese anime industry as a formidable industry. Although the cultural significance of the series may not be apparent now, it has the potential to contribute to the growth of the Chinese anime industry. Overall, "The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season 2" is a decent show that offers a fun and engaging storyline. While it may not be groundbreaking in any aspect, it does offer a unique take on the fantasy genre conventions and is worth watching for its fun factor alone.
Originally I wouldn't have rated this as high until about ep 9? or 10 things got a little bit different here I wont say much more since it would spoil things but the bringing of real world elements and the eps also flowed visually and audibly in the process described made for a great build up to the ending eps which I enjoyed probably more than I should have. from the work force meltdowns to the complete bash at a certain equipment maker. Brilliant. Like stated by others this continues to be a cultivator fanfic version of the disastrous life of saiki k. as readersof such novels I'm bias and enjoyed this and it's many similarities and complete opposites. which is my reasoning for scoring Story (6) it's a fanfic it's scoring higher than five for the originality of some parts. Art (8) this is one of the best animated cultivator type anime and even if this is expected quality of today among the others of this type it something that stands out. sound (8) good va's on the sub version that are enjoyable to listen to and distinct from one another. The opening track is one of my favorites (Jiàng Lín (Arrival) ) Character (6) again this is fanfic saki k. so our line up is similar +1 for some changes that are polar opposites but still get the essence of their counter parts Enjoyment (10) the reason I rated this so high is literally this I enjoyed it be it by bias or just enjoying all the clever references. In the end if you watched saki k. or just like your standard op protag ect.. this is an enjoyable anime
Xian Wang de Richang Shenghuo 2 (2021) Okay the propaganda is increasing and the cameos like Attack on Titan on the plane sword thing are increasing I wonder how they get away with that but maybe they got permission. The story is honestly not a slice of life anymore, it tries to pretend it is but really is now just 12 episodes that don't all really have that much to do with each other anymore apart from 'Demon King'. It is still good for the majority of the show, just not so original. You get a Date a Live episode with the whole everyone does whata girl wants and chases aggressively episode. I would say it is trying to be more comedy with action than anything. The main bad guy the 'Demon King' looks a lot like the Fallen out of Destiny the game franchise. The art style is again good but not well aging. It is big and flashy, it does do CGI and old-style game concept art which is based on a few episodes being specials or using a different style of animation for the purpose of changing it up. I actually welcomed that to be honest, it was unique. The sound is the same as season 1, just cuts through nicely. Characters have not changed at all, like literally carbon copies. Not a huge amount of time has gone by so you would expect this. You get some new characters like butterfly girl and assassin girls' sister/teacher's lover which just sort of exist with half-arsed backstories. Remember girls like you fat if you can say it is because you ate as you missed them. See how mine takes that. You also get that China is braver than everyone else propaganda let's face the most uncertain things together, yeah! Overall, not as good as season 1 the climax sort of sucked overall. 12 episodes of build-up for a few minutes of fighting. 7/10.
A rare instance where the show get's better in the second season. I think that the story got a little stale this season and there wasn't much in terms of character development. That's the big downside over season 1, the freshness. Other than that the animation is much more consistent across the board, and is up to industry standard. However, it seems like this may have come at the cost of having one huge flashy scene like in season 1. The OP/ED go hard, even if the soundtrack is almost identical to season 1. New girl VA suck, but otherwise the VA is still kindof alright, aka decent for a dub. Overall, a better more finely tuned anime, but still clunky like most anime. 6.40/10 dubbed
Wang Ling is an overpowered existence, so overpowered that he saved a married couple just by urinating himself. Oh! And he also punched a giant frog into oblivion, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. As his abilities continue to develop, he acquires the potential to unintentionally wipe out everything above and below, and everything in between. His father after finding that his son is a literal God builds a talisman to seal his powers, but Wang Ling also has to seal off his emotions to not lose control over his world-shattering powers. Now our OP protagonist should be able to lead a lifedevoid of interruptions and involvements, but his school, its inmates, and the school's beautiful idol might change that. Either for the better or for the far worst. Let's start with the elephant in the room. The focal point of our narrative, yet he makes a concerted effort to avoid it. Every episode or story arc introduces our OP MC to subvert the clichés in that environment, which adds humor while also dropping a bunch of forgettable supporting characters into a dramatic context. But alas, it's a tragedy because that comedy quickly becomes dreary. Due to their lack of complexity when dealing with abnormality, an OP character in a humorous environment might be amusing. I can't even complete 10 pushups for the love of my life, but if I saw a bald man in a cape performing 100 pushups effortlessly, I will giggle at how amazed I was. A miracle, however, is a miracle because it is uncommon. You might exclaim "Wah Taz!" if you ever see the Taj Mahal. Even after a second viewing, you would be in awe. However, after viewing it 100 times, you would say, "Yeah, that's Taz Mahal." The show loses the audience's initial interest when it performs the same 'miracle,' in this case Wang Ling proving once more that he is OP. But hold on, repeating the same thing? Yes, One Punch Man does that as well. Why, then, did this fail? Because "Immortal King" is lacking in two areas. "Quality and Effective Direction". OPM features consistently excellent animation, and each episode just gets better and better. But with this show... Later in the episode, it almost made me think of the difference in quality between OPM S1 and S2. Moments become increasingly awkward and bizarre as CGI crowds take over the background, although it's amusing to note that there is an episode in season 2 where they discuss digital animation. It's a bit ironic that a piece of animation that aspires to be of high quality may serve as both a good and a bad representation of the field. But S2 does improve a bit; there still are some jarring moments but atleast the CGI crowds are decreasing. Narratively speaking, the first few episodes of each season are merely dull slice-of-life episodes, but each time, a minor narrative point is left over that is employed in the conflict that emerges at the end of the season. The slice-of-life episodes will continue to become more and more sporadic. It's not well written, but it's also not bad. It appears that the show is very unlucky to have too many annoying elements since this would have been the end. And the subtitles are the final annoying element. Like I don't even grasp what a few statements mean, and even after viewing the full episode, I still don't comprehend what it means in context. In inappropriate situations, the subtitles are unusually attentive, like this one. Like wow! I was quite curious about the meaning of those Chinese characters, which I could hardly even see. Including additional subtitles is fine, but what good is it if the required subtitles are so poorly translated? Who should watch this? The concept is similar to "One Punch Man" and "Mob Psycho 100" except, it's neither as consistently well-animated nor it's well written as either of them but, Unlike Mob or OPM, "Daily Life of Immortal King" has romance if that interests people. Season 3 is airing, by the way.
As a person that keeps up-to-date on tech, I have to give mad respect for the real obscure joke that made me burst out laughing. If you know you know. I have to say that I believe that the show builds upon what worked best in the first season and throughout what didn't, which is the absolutely great comedy and unique world and ridding itself of cliches regarding the MC and main love interest. The main strong points of the show are the complex conundrums that come about from being so powerful he literally can't use it, and the world of cultivation that the story is basedin. I'm happy to say that the scenarios that play out become more interesting while the world itself is built upon and foreshadowed surprisingly well with small aspects like news in the background adding up to being relevant to a later event. The animation budget getting a bump and the audio actually being upped in gain was very much appreciated. I have to say though that at times it felt rushed and didn't build up certain characters as well, even though it does affect the overall pacing, I didn't mind much. It's a solid 8 and an above in my books, great fun to watch unless you're really not into overarching stories with a more episodic story style.
