Underneath the bright city lights lies a bloodied arena bursting with frantic screams and roars. Strong men engage in boxing matches for money, while their audience desperately hopes that their chosen participants will bring them fortune. For the young rising star Mignon, there is only one place that is an escape from the chaos of the ring and his tough life. Mysterious underground doctor Oh Young-One offers his services to injured fighters, and the wide-eyed Mignon finds solace in his quiet infirmary. Young-One is gentle and caring, always tending to Mignon's wounds that mainly come from the cruel world beyond the boxing ring. However, the doctor hides a taboo secret about himself. In a rare moment of carelessness, he exposes it to Mignon, putting his life in immediate danger. Even though Young-One warns Mignon to keep his distance in order to protect him, Mignon remains stubborn and refuses to abandon the one person who makes him feel as though he truly matters. Oh my goodness gracious me. Saw the youtube trailer years ago and wasn't even sure it was ever going to be released. Happened upon it this week. My good god, this anime has an amazing premise - vampire doctor & boxer??! Interesting, unique and gorgeous scenery and art style, GREAT music - synth and jazz? Hell yeah - plus - MY GOD - that sex scene?? Not much makes me blush but wow, yes, this sure did. I think the story was really unique, especially among the genre - and I loved that sort of sci-fi, slight apocalypse vibe? while still having the traditional vampire character... Lotsto love about this series, really happy I found it again. Great fun, LOVED IT!
Mignon is simply AMAZING, and you ABSOLUTELY should try it! ABJ did a great job again! They're the same studio that produced Hyperventilation, and now Mignon, who have an beautiful animation, ofc in some points its quite strange, most of the times when have a difficult perspective, but even with some errors, its so incredible what they did! The music, the atmosphere, everything makes me fall in love with this anime since the beginning. The story is a good and simple, the characters don't have a big development, but i fell in love with them, mainly with Mignon who have a BIG Charisma! Everything is worth inhere, and even with some lower points, its so enjoyable that doesn't bother you. Anyway, give a try on this, its beautiful and really short one! If you need a place to see, you can find it on the ABJ's Vimeo!
I will brave the Fujoshi hate and deliver a more unbiased review on this anime. For the record I am not familiar with Korean anime, but have read quite a bit of their manhwa... of the BL smut variety. I read the words 'vampire' and 'boys love' under information and was immediately intrigued. I was soon slapped in the face with disappointment. I feel that there's such a desperation for LGBTQ+ romance that the genre has become over-saturated with cliched, mediocre, immature and rather unhealthy relationship depictions. MAL describes this as erotica, its not, its smut. This anime is a cut and paste of many BLsmut manhwa plots. If I'd known this going in I may have been a little less critical, after all the hentai genre is not exactly award-winning. Which begs the question: why does this anime have such a high MAL score? Mignon is the cliché tearful abused dude, Doc is the cliché emotionally unavailable vampire dude. A reusable story unfolds. Very little actual relationship building. There is crying. There is noisy kissing and formulaic sex. The fact that Doc was a vampire was a wasted opportunity. Parts of the animation is pretty, but its obvious there was a limited budget as they rely heavily on still shots. The music was forgettable. Each episode is about 4-5 minutes, why not simply make it into a short movie? Part of me that wonders if this was a straight relationship would there have been more budget. If you're thirsty for an animated gay sex scene just go to the last episode, if you have expectations of an actual BL vampire story carry on looking. I think I've sh*t on this enough, 5/10
TW: Blood, sex, violence, fighting Mignon is a very short BL anime, the episodes range from 4 to 8 minutes but a lot happens during this time. The story progressed quickly and is easy to follow and understand. The animation is very nice and smooth, and I love the character designs! The characters are pretty interesting and I wish we knew a bit more about them and their origins but I'm sure there are some fan theories out there. As well as the characters are very likeable and add to the story. Also, the colours! The colours are amazing and very aesthetic-lookingas they weren't too overpowering but added to the scenes and helped portray the emotions of the characters. Additionally, the sound design was pretty nice too, very realistic and crisp! The last episode! Woah! Very passionate (don't worry, the details are blurred)
I stumbled on this anime and it was AMAZING!!! Good plot and characters and storyline...I read yaoi before but this is the first time actually watching it and my mind is blown. I would love to see more like these Allow me to ramble a little In the realm of unconventional love stories, Mignon emerges as a mesmerizing and unique gem that defies genre boundaries. This extraordinary TV show weaves the unlikely romance between a resilient boxer and an enigmatic vampire doctor into a tapestry of emotions, intrigue, and supernatural allure, captivating viewers from the first round to the final curtain. The heart of Mignon beats with anunconventional passion, where two disparate worlds collide in the most unexpected of ways. As the burly boxer and the enigmatic vampire doctor find themselves drawn together, the sparks that fly are not just from the punches in the ring but from the undeniable chemistry that simmers between them. The show's creators have beautifully orchestrated this unconventional love story, navigating the complexities of romance, identity, and the allure of the supernatural with grace and depth. The writing of Mignon is a testament to its creativity and depth. The dialogue dances between moments of raw emotion and witty banter, offering a balance that underscores the authenticity of the characters. The show's exploration of themes such as love, sacrifice, and the nature of humanity is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant, making for a truly immersive viewing experience. In conclusion, Mignon is a bold and enchanting TV show that breaks new ground in the realm of unconventional romance. Its skillful exploration of the complex relationship between a boxer and a vampire doctor, coupled with its authentic characters, striking visuals, and thought-provoking themes, make it a must-watch for anyone seeking a love story that defies expectations and warms the heart.
Simply INNOVATIVE!! The mix between a vampire and a boxer was phenomenal, the couple has opposite characteristics, Mignon, in addition to being very cute, is very extroverted while the doctor is more reserved. If you're not accustomed to BL stories, it's a good work to start watching, it's very calm and the plot keeps us hooked. It's no wonder that the best is saved for last and that's exactly what happened in the BEST LOVE LOVE SCENE I've ever seen in my life, a lot of attraction and passion emanated from these two ^^ The couple ends happily and a new journey takes place in Mignon's life eheheh WATCHIT'S VERY GOOD
The relationship between humans and vampires is one of literature's most lasting and notorious ones, and Mignon explores it in an imaginative, superbly written, intriguing, and engaging tale. In this anime, two characters from two distinct stories come together, and they must learn to both comfort one another while also filling in the gaps left by people from their own parallel realities and their own personal issues. The anime portrays a fascinating and much darker side while also delving into the complexities of love, personal growth, and the profound effects that people may have on one another's life. While also emphasizing themes like self-worth, discoveringinner power inside oneself, adversity, and the capacity to move ahead from past events. The color selections and color schemes used in each scene were incredibly serene, gorgeously atmospheric, and established various tones, from the night time city background, which was an exquisite crimson red packed with more shaded colors to create a sense of intense feeling and action, to the daily routine of Mignon and Oh Young seen inside and outside the arena filled with hues of blue, yellow, white, pink, and other colors to create a sense of peace and liveliness. The anime is thematically similar to the author's past works, such as Hyperventilation and Unbelievable Space Love, in that it has well-developed characters with whom the audience may sympathize, despise, and relate in both positive and bad ways, as well as excellent production values. The anime's powerful, edgy, vibrant, honest, and fascinating music complements the situations and feelings shown in it. The acting and performances of the characters were truly suitable in terms of how they were able to deliver and catch their lines in a way that showed both their thoughts and feelings of the character being played, as well as the effort and experience they put into playing the part. Overall, I would strongly suggest this one to anyone who is a fan of Bboong Bbang Kkyu's works or has an interest in the anime's following genres.
I wish there was more of this series, each episode is short but it was kind of nice for my attention span. I have rewatched this show 3 times because of the art style. At first I didn’t know how to feel about it, but it’s so so good. There is a transformation scene and it felt so cinematic, the way they did the visuals was so nice to look at. I love the way the characters look, and I love the way they sound. I haven’t seen too many boxing animes, but this one definitely had a twist. If you like Boxing, Vampires, Romance, steamy scenes, Drama, and especially a Bl, then this show is for you. Finally all I’m going to say without spoiling is that, it’s definitely steamy so if you aren’t into sexual themes, this anime isn’t for you.
This story is about two guys, neither of whom know how to behave. Some of that is explainable by context and their pasts, but still, it's bizarre how they interact with people and with each other. The animation on the other hand has a Wacky-Waving-Inflatable-Arm-Flailing-Tube-Man quality, particularly with Mignon, who regularly just folds in half. The episodes are very short, and there's only 12 of them, so the story isn't particularly nuanced, nor do any of the side characters get much attention. The funniest part was Mignon being portrayed as some giant, then finding out he's just 6'2. Not really sure where the other reviewersare getting "AMAZING" or "INNOVATIVE" from. It was fine, I guess, but there's not really anything of substance save for the 'transformation', or rather, the decision behind it, but it doesn't stop to linger and reflect. And that's my biggest beef with this series: we only really see unhealthy relationships and obsession; there is never any time for anything of substance.
This one kind of came out of left field. I was expecting a cheesy Korean BL drama which I could half enjoy and half laugh at. What I got was an incredibly dense story line set over one of the best examples of atmosphere building I've ever seen in an anime. The romantic tension felt entirely right when it was supposed to, and too far when it was supposed to be too far for comfort. It is indeed cheesily BL at times (EP12) but I don't mind that so much when there's such a banging soundtrack and atmosphere. It's kindof tough to get at what I mean, but there's this really deep 80's synthwave vibe to this show, and the music just constantly slaps. The camera shots are gorgeous and the cinematography is top notch. I recommend this anime to anyone who can stomach BL and likes really good atmosphere building.
This Anime is a stunning piece of work, if you love moody, BL and vague world building, this is the anime for you. I will be honest this was so good it got me back into anime after not watching for a good 10 years. The Art style fits beautifully, the backgrounds are amazing and guides the mood so much. The Characters are drawn so elegantly. The fights help tell the story, they might not be perfect or the best but that is so not what you are here for. The plot is amazing - so well done I was expecting one thing and I gotanother, so much of the story is really told by mood not actual dialogue or action. Its amazing how they show what a character is feeling using a shot and just the background music . Oh the Background Music - so timed just right it fits so well.
If I said I enjoyed this out loud to my peers I'd actually die from embarrassment I'm so sorry fujosisters I'd rather fujoshit in my hands and clap Honestly the premise of mignon is so good and I hope nobody's already butchering it to death in character.ai because if so please just sit down and watch a show before trying to insert yourself into it babes xx Both of these characters are a little mentally unstable (yaoi box number one ticked) have a twink:six pack ratio (yaoi box number two ticked) and have one of them being obsessed with the other (yaoi box number three ticked)jokes aside it ain't that bad of a story and I'm glad it turned out and ended the way it did because I'm not signing up for more toxic ass fucking relationships Also why is the animation so good? The colours are so nice too genuinely where was the budget meeting for this show or did all the enthusiasts come together to birth a single decent looking BL short anime 8/10, I liked it but I ignore the last episode because it feels like I'm intruding on something like when you see your parents kiss each other Why is yaoi so embarrassing to the masses there needs to be fujoshi executions stay strong
It's an amazing piece of work, I wish the story was at least twice as long, if not more! The premise is very interesting, two outcasts finding each other in the least probable of places. You wouldn't think another vampire story would bring anything new to the table, but somehow it felt fresh and unique, and I really wish we got to see more of it - what happened earlier, Doc's and Mignon's backstories, how they first met, but also what happened after the ending. I am so so curious about this world, I want more! Also, the way the entire story is drawn isa masterpiece. You can feel the stuffy atmosphere of the club, the emptiness of the city at night, the timelessness of Doc's flat being a patchwork of all his past lives... It is beautifully done, the transformation scene got me shaking, it was so damn good! And the music adds so much cool to the whole vibe of the series, it's like a cherry on top of an already great cake. I highly recommend it, it's a beautiful piece of animation.
This show was waaaay too short but I fuckin' loved it!and also look like such. (It's sad enough that I added this point but there's too much weird stuff going around)
Drumroll pleaseee~ This is officially my first BL I've ever watched and review of one. Now for starters, I'd recommend to ALL BL lovers. BUT, I of course won't recommend to anyone who ain't one. But if you're someone who's reading this and isn't a fan of one, I just want to ask, 'why on earth are you here?' The answer is, you must be intrigued one way or the other. So as someone who didn't initially want to watch BL's, was cause I felt a little uncomfortable with that idea. However, after having slow increase of exposure to this kind of genre, I felt I couldgive it a watch. But more than just wanting to watch a BL, I was actually drawn to the story that this anime had in store for me. It first started with a clip which I unintentionally watched and it slowly enticed me. People commented how amazing this anime was and so on so forth. They baited me. So here I am writing a review on my thoughts of this anime. I would say this was a good BL. I unfortunately cannot say that this was the best BL I've ever watched as this was practically my first one which was proper hardcore. But the story was interesting and the characters were...uhh naive? To be honest though, if none of the events ever happened both Mignon and Young-on would never have gotten that ending they were granted. (So uhh, good for them) Would I watch this again? Most likely yes, when I feel like it. My Note: HOW ON EARTH DID I WATCH THIS ANIME ON A NORMAL ANIME WEBSITE?? I DON'T GET IT! THIS THING WAS RATED 18+ FOR A REASON AND I PROMISE TO YOU, MY CONCERN SKYROCKETED CAUSE KIDS COULD BE BROWSING THE SITE TOO ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍。(or it's just me who doesn't watch enough 18+ stuff to know how perturbing this actually is...and call me innocent for thinking that it was 18+ due to violence and gore not because of explicit content...smh)
This is a really good anime. The animation was so good. They really did well with the storyline. This anime could have been a hit anime if it wasn't Bl. Still, I loved it as it is. Both the main characters are written so well. Even if someone doesn't like the Bl, they should still give it a shot. Just skip the last episode. Overall, it is a great anime and everything is portrayed so graciously here. As for me I am into the Bl genre and they did eat this up. The relationship development is what I liked here.
