This anime is a scam at its finest. This gotta be the most click-baited anime show I've ever seen. TLDR: The first episodes of the show were good and it set up a decent storyline where the main character has a distinct characteristic different from everybody else setting up nice fights and action. I believe that the anime lost its edge around episode 3 where the anime started focusing on making a harem than making action. I don't know who the target audience for this anime was, but it surely had barely any good action or adventure. This is a harem without any good plot or action, avoid it at all costs, unless you like this sort of genre. Story:2 At first, I thought this isekai would stand out from the rest because the guy got reincarnated into a goblin instead of a human which portrayed a unique characteristic similar to Tensura. The main character starts out as a "monster", but does ethical actions unfit for a goblin which allows complexity as he trains more goblins to become more humanlike. It seemed interesting because the main character had a human brain with a monster's body and I liked the route it took. Then episode 3 comes around and everyone starts to fall in love with him. The main character is still fine during episode 3 because the women are flailing towards him and temptation happens. But after episode 3 this guy becomes a simp and starts thinking only about women to the point where he just took a prisoner and started to rape her and allowed the women to survive, but not the men because he found the women to be beautiful. Action/Powers:1 That's not the only thing wrong about this show. The action in this show is horrendous along with his powers. The main character has hundreds of powers every single episode which leads to him fighting a new monster and ranking up. It's so hard to remember every power in the show to the point where you don't even know what's going on. There's not much to say except this guy is over-powered and I don't even know what half of his powers are.The fights for this show are forgettable. The only good fights are in the first two episodes because he actually showed some weaknesses and he wasn't ridiculously strong. It offered some good battles, but it just went downhill from there. Animation: 1 The animation is horrendous and the art style is appalling. I don't know what happened to their budget, but it's close to one of those mobile video games (probably worse). In most of the scenes, the background characters are sketched in and it shows that the animators didn't take that much effort to make this show. It was a money grab for the beginning as the main character had average animation throughout the whole show. Overall, this anime was so bad, the only thing that made up for it sometimes was the comedy from the old goblin, but other than that it was not enjoyable at all. There was no impact or clear message from the show provided that it was mostly a harem. If you wanna waste your time and have nothing else to do with your life go ahead and watch this pitiful thing.
After dying a pitiful death in a quasi-cyberpunk world, Tokokui Kanata is reincarnated into a fantasy world as a bottom-tier mob, a goblin named Gob-Rou. However, retaining his previous life's experiences and his overpowered absorption skill, Gob-Rou finds a way to get stronger and tries his best to live life the way he wants, free from control. Story & Character: 6/10 Re Monster takes the story day by day instead of episodically, so we see definitive progression throughout the series, provided with narration. This approach removes some of the suspense typically seen in episodic series that peak toward the end of each episode. Re Monster always triesto end on a satisfying note with as little plot friction as possible. This also becomes a drawback. It grows uninspiring, and we lose that sense of struggle and adaptation which initially tied the story together. In a world-building series like this, characters are an essential framework for development. I think Re Monster does well in terms of character development, considering it manages various different species, new evolutions, progressive relationships, and even family development. However, it's notable that despite all this, the characters still lack individuality beyond their designs. The characters are drawn to Rou without much sense of conflict, which makes the friendly characters feel stale. The idea of loss doesn't exist in this series, and Rou's faction feels artificially submissive to his cause, which makes none of their personalities unique apart from their stereotypical character personas. Art & Sound: 5/10 The art starts off decent but progressively worsens, and it's definitely noticeable when it comes to action. Scenes lacking character movement and instead favoring slideshow presentations litter the series more frequently over time, making the viewing experience feel cheap. It doesn't help that the character designs look like they're straight out of a budget doujinshi. Sound design is passable; there weren't any memorable uses of thematic music to evoke emotion. The voice acting felt mediocre at best and amateurish at worst. Along with the music, the sound effects were average for modern standards, with nothing extraordinary standing out. Overall & Enjoyment: 6/10 I appreciated the fact that Re Monster was brazen enough to include parts like childbirth, goblin reproduction, and many other questionable topics for a power fantasy series. Re Monster tries to stand out from the mold with its seemingly unique fantasy plot structure and progressive character development, but it felt poorly executed. The art grew worse with each episode and lacked any considerable animation by the end, which was a degrading experience.
I'm going to recommend this anime not because it's a gem in animation, it's a gem in comfortable storytelling, or it's one of the best manga adaptations that have ever existed. I'm going to recommend it because it is indeed entertaining, although it really isn't a big deal. The concept surrounding this anime is great, a protagonist who continually reincarnates in different worlds, adapting to them trying to climb in them, now being one of fantasy and like a monster. But we have to be honest, the story is written in such a way that it seems like a simple fanfic of a very hornyteenager, the animation and the Lore are simply mediocre, but despite this I find it a completely entertaining story. At a certain point I can come to think that perhaps it would have been better if instead of being four or five days per chapter, it was a short 5-minute chapter with each day. Like those kinds of anime that last very little but have several chapters. Look at it: * You like Fantasy * You find yourself saturated by animes with much more complex stories and you want a break * You want to see a protagonist who does inseminate his waifus. * Yes harem is your favorite genre. * You read at least more than 20 chapters of the manga or two volumes of the novel. Don't look at it yes: * Are you looking for an anime with good plot development and a good story? * You have a very strong monogamous belief. * You hope to see a second season. Edit: I have been asked about the fact that I mentioned that the character constantly reincarnates. Regarding this, I am referring to the fact that the mentioned character knew about reincarnation beforehand and also alludes to having experienced it before. Of course, this is something that only happens in the anime. I have read the novel perfectly and I know that it does not mention anything about the topic. But there are also several inconsistencies regarding the initial part of the story in relation to the novel and the anime. So this review being only about the anime, and it mentions that reincarnation. I repeat, I am not referring to the fact that the character dies and reincarnates in other bodies or with another appearance within this fantasy world. PD: Maybe I'm crazy and I don't know how to read or listen well, but you already reviewed chapter 1, and I always understand the same thing (the above).
“Re:Monster” is what happens when someone with no imagination or writing skills tries to write “Tensura”. Do You know what “Stockholm syndrome” is? It’s a term from the field of psychology. It occurs when a hostage starts to identify with the captor, starts to justify his actions and sometimes even develops strong feelings for them. It’s postulated that it’s a defence mechanism that increases the chance of surviving a dangerous situation. One theory is that people adjust their feelings toward the abuser when they are shown kindness, especially if it’s over time. That means that if You are abducted, treated badly and once in a while areshown kindness, there is a chance You might develop a positive feeling towards the aggressor. Even if You are victim of sexual assault during Your abduction. Yes, it’s almost like in an abusive relationship. Of course this is a simplification, Stockholm syndrome is very rare, according to the FBI less than 8% of abduction victims end up with it. The reason why I’m writing this is to set a frame for the first 6 episodes of this shit of show. Before we start I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” and “story”. Many people use those terms interchangeably. I’m not one of those people, so to make sure everyone is on the same page… I use the definitions for “plot” and “story” as Lisa Cron describes them: “What happens in the story is the PLOT, the surface events.” “STORY is about how the things that happen affect someone in pursuit of a difficult goal, and how that person changes internally as a result”. Let’s start with the story. There is none. 99.9% of things that happen only happen because the plot demands it. It has nothing to do with any kind of internal logic. It’s just an excuse for a shitty writer to indulge in his jerk fest. The MC starts out as a piece of shit and ends the series as a piece of shit. For some reason the show wants me to buy in that he has a development arc but You really have to be brain dead to believe that. From the very beginning he’s an opportunist and that never changes. The only thing that does is that he becomes a hypocrite as a bonus. Now granted that’s nothing new for isekai protagonists, a good 99% of them are hypocrites, but the way this show portrays some serious subjects is really pissing me off. Everything in this show revolves around the MC - Rou - also known as Aporou (when in Apostle Lord form) formerly known as Ogarou (when in Ogre form) formerly known as Goburou (when in Goblin and Hobgoblin forms) formerly known as Tomokui Kanata (In his previous world) and always known as a shitty idea. In his previous life he died in a knife attack by a chick who seems to be getting off the fact that she is turning him into a knife holder. To be honest, looking at how this show “evolves” (I’m being really generous here) I’m surprised this didn’t turn out like a scene from “Nekromantik” (If You don’t know this movie… DON’T watch it. Seriously, I just hate myself and love camp). He is reborn as a goblin in a new world and surprise, surprise, he has a skill that lets him be OP from the get go. Never saw that coming in like… almost all other isekai garbage from the last decade. Interesting twist (the only one in this show): The MC was an OP Mofo in his previous life as well. From a cyberpunk or maybe urban fantasy world with dumb game logic systems in place to a pure fantasy world with dumb game logic systems in place. No wonder he feels like home from the get go. Of course the world works on Game logic, because it’s a lazy isekai. You can’t have an isekai without it. I miss times of “The Vision of Escaflowne” or “Now and Then, Here and There” when isekais didn’t require the hero to kick the bucket and didn’t have a damn cheap RPG-like system woven into its core. You know… the good old times when to be a writer You would actually require any kind of skill. He gains new skills by eating living creatures because of course he does. That’s the second most lazy way to write a progression system. From a logical point of view and his tribe strength he’s an absolute idiot. He kills, as punishment because we need to pretend he’s a “good” guy, some of the stronger members of the previous generation of goblins (one being a hobgoblin). There was no real reason to do so. If he really wanted to he could just beat the shit out of them and use instrumental conditioning to train them. This was done only because we needed a reason for the redhead human girl to crawl into his bed. He’s more or less a piece of shit. Granted in this world, as a monster, being concerned only with Yourself doesn’t seem to be a bad thing but the extent of self-delusion he goes to is impressive. He saves the daughter of an elven chief and hopes her escort rests in peace. Cute. The problem? He could have saved them with little to no problems. There is no real reason for him to save her as well. Except the fact that the show needs an excuse for all other bullshit with the elves that will come later and she’s a woman. At this point I’m gonna assume every woman this cardboard buyout of an MC meets is on his rape list. I don’t mind evil or opportunistic protagonists. They can actually be amazing, just look at “Overlord”, “Death Note” or “Saga of Tanya the Evil” but don’t make them hypocrites (Yeah, I know Ainz is one but it’s not that obvious in the beginning). If You’re writing an asshole just go fully into it. There was one moment when the show tricked me into thinking that maybe it will not be a total piece of crap. When Goburou is fighting a red bear he gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter but, because we can’t have logical writing, instead of retreating and preparing with a different approach he just gets a second wind from thin air and wins the fight. As a reward he evolves. If there was ever a show with no stakes this would be it. It’s the second episode and we already know that our MC is unstoppable. Ok… let’s talk about the elephant in the room - Stockholm syndrome. The human girls fall for him because he’s nice to them. The show set up an amazing opportunity to explore this aspect of the story. You can show how emotionally, physically and mentally being abducted by monsters who You are pretty known rapists (not that anyone hid it) is. Damn. You could use the boring MC as a catalyst for that kind of a story. It’s not exactly something common so the story had a chance to become something unique. But that would require a writer with skills and imagination. But the show wasn’t lucky enough to have one so it’s just basic shit. The most insulting thing is that this shit show plays it off as cute and “rewards” the MC with a goddamn orgy with 5 human women and one hobgoblin chick. This show portrait straight up rape almost like a social tool. The elfs don’t want to wear earrings because of their culture? The MC rapes them and suddenly they don’t have a problem with it. Do you need to test the endurance of the newly enslaved prisoners? Rape. It even shows one of them rejecting the idea but potrais it as some sort of quirky “yes”. It’s so juvenile, crude and to be honest devoid of any kind of nuance or taste. As a former therapist I will only say: FUCK the writer for that! To be honest I think that skipping this one is actually a profit in itself. The amount of bullshit in this show is comparable with “Berserk of Gluttony”, “Eminence in Shadow”, “The Qwaser of Stigmata” or “Conception”. I feel that a lot of my braincells committed suicide during watching this shit. Save Your brain, avoid this.
This is another isekai that really doesnt need the isekai subplot. A guy is murdered and is reborn in another world as a goblin. And as he kills and eats monsters he gains their abilities and evolves and gets stronger. It starts off interesting. But then devolves into samey dull nonsense harem isekai. He becomes the leader of his village and helps them evolve too. The characters in this show change form so many times that i actually lost track of who was who. These are goblins who evolve into magicians, and blood mages, and necromancers, and vampires, and earth benders... And their clothes transform with them for somereason. They create alliances with other races. They go to war. They become mercenaries. Also all the females want to fck the main character because of course they do. I like a nice harem as much as the next guy but even i have to call out the misogynistic nature of this anime. Generic isekai with a goblin skin.
I kind of enjoyed many episodes, it sure had some drawbacks, but it's entertaining, the art was decent, and the method of portraying was good. They could've avoided certain things, for example, in episode 6, the MC could have gone for the kill, instead of easily guessing the scenario, where he recruits the person who has very very few characters or scenes in the whole anime. The one thing I liked about the anime is, that he trains to get stronger with proper planning at the beginning & the first few episodes are very interesting. They could not avoid the light harem, as it is necessaryfor future developments, yes they are popping babies out. Overall it's a nice, not boring, and decent anime.
Re:Monster manages to do something I’d never thought possible- to create a series that’s actually worse than a typical Isekai series. In theory, Re:Monster should have been more interesting. It features an amoral villain protagonist who is reincarnated as a goblin (later to evolve into an ogre) after being murdered by a Yandere in his original life. Re:Monster could have been a villain protagonist story along the lines of Overlord, but with Goblins. Instead, its just boring. Re:Monster has all the hallmarks of a typical Isekai. There’s an OP protagonist who rarely faces a challenge and a gaggle of generic and cookie-cutter anime girlswho fawn over him. However, the biggest problem with Re:Monster is the story itself. Namely, there isn’t one. There is no real plot. In fact, there isn’t even a real antagonist. Instead the protagonist goes from one event to another and “plot” ends up feeling less like a story and more like a conglomeration of events. To make matters worse these events are not even that entertaining in and off themselves,. Instead, the main protagonist narrates everything making the entire series feel less like a proper story an more like 12 back to back recap episodes. As I’ve already hinted at, the characters of Re:Monster are not much better. The main protagonist for example is so OP that he never faces a challenge. With a protagonist this OP, the fights are dull and predictable. Some shows, such as the aforementioned Overlord, can pull off such OP protagonists with a good plot and characters. Re:Monster does not do this and instead treats to a boringly OP protagonist who easily wins all his fight. Unlike say, Kumoku from So I’m a spider, so what, the protagonist never has to work for his powers. In fact, his powers aren’t even a product of his reincarnation as he had them before his death! He just went from one OP life to another. Worse still, he isn’t even likeable. Even by villain protagonist standards, the main protagonist of Re:Monster is distinctly unlikeable by virtue of him being a rapist. Most villain protagonists will have some good traits that enable the audience to root for them whilst also giving them enough evil traits that allow the protagonist to retain their villainous appeal. Villain protagonist writing then, involves maintaining a delicate balance between your main character being evil enough to be a villain protagonist but still sympathetic enough to root for. Re:Monster fails at this balance by making its main character a rapist. The other characters in Re:Monster do not fare much better and consist mostly of bland Haremette’s with at most one cliché trait to set them apart from each other. But this is made worse by their names. Up till now I’ve avoided mentioned the characters names and this is for one simply reason- the names change. Re:Monster has an evolution system for its non-human characters and when a non-human evolves, they get a new name. Since most of the main cast are non-human, this means most of the main cast changes name every few episodes. Worse still, their appearance also changes. So for example, the main protagonist is born with the name “Goburou”. When he evolves into an Ogre, he becomes “Ogarou”. His appearance also changes and this rule applies to the other main characters as well with the result that already bland characters are functionally unrecognizable from one episode to the next. With bland, one note characteristics and constantly changing names and appearances, its impossible to care about the main cast of Re:Monster. Overall, Re:Monster is a badly written show that just isn’t worth your time. If you want a show about goblins building a power base, watch reincarnated as a slime. If you want a show about a well written villain protagonist in an Isekai world, watch Overlord. If you want a show about a monster protagonist working hard to earn their powers, watch So I’m a spider, so what. But whatever you do in life. Don’t watch Re:Monster. Its not so bad its good. Its just bad. Advice: For those unfortunate enough to have watched Re:Monster, I recommend an immediate viewing of Goblin Slayer as therapy.
It's an alright show for anime vacuum between seasons. It suffers tremendously from TooMuchGood disease. MC gains dozens of ridiculous abilities after eating any random dog and frog lying dead on the road. MC evolves into some new amazing species every other episode. MC gets new harem members every time he participates in any sort of fight, by hook or by crook. MCs merry band of monster organisation grows so wide and tall that like half of secondary cast in later episodes is never really introduced, they just pop into existence and we know nothing about where tf they crawled out from and why do they fight withMC now. They attempted an interesting storytelling method of 2-10 minute skits between time skips forward, but honestly if this story were to be properly presented with conventional storytelling methods, you'd need 40 or more episodes, not 12, andd smart storytelling or not it's impossible to cram that amount of story in one cour. Still, it was fun to watch even with its shortcomings, so give it a try. If you don't like the first episode you can safely drop it.
In my opinion, as someone who doesn't know the original, the anime wasn't that bad, it does have moments of stuck animations, crooked design, but overall I liked it, I didn't think it was the worst thing in the world, as Some people are saying I've seen much worse adaptations than this and I haven't seen people complain so much but everyone has their own opinion. It was fun to follow Rou's journey alongside his group of Parabellun Mercenaries and see his interaction with other characters like Mi, Kichi, Terrae, Sato, Sei etc... as well as his children who were born in the final stretch ofthe anime, but because they were Rou's children, they developed quickly, taking away the human baby for the logical reason. Now we have to wait and see if the anime will have a sequel in the future or no.
Started out your average pretty bad but entertaining and funny OP MC isekai. Around half way through it shifted to worse than bad, weird, boring and overall cringey. I'd give the idea, first 3 episodes, and character design an 8/10. The later episodes were so cringe I had to skip through, which is impressive. Someone needs to make a good monster in an RPG show. The idea has such great potential but keeps getting wasted on cringe garbage. Focus on story and good characters! Monster harems like in this show are GIGA CRINGE. The trope was played out after the monster milkers show. Any show thathas done it since deserves (and usually has) below a 6 rating. If you are a turbo weeb who has watched highschool dxd for the story 4+ times, this show is for you.
I starting watching this because the Mangaka of Mushoku Tensei, Rifujin na Magonote, said he looked to Re:Monster for inspiration when writing Mushoku. I can see some similarities between the two, but man... Re:Monster just does not compare at all. Perhaps the manga is better (I wouldn't know) but the anime is really disappointing. There is really no overarching storyline, little to no character development, it's really low budget/poorly done. One of the main features of the story is when the protagonist and his allies power up into new forms. (example: goblin -> hobgoblin -> orge, ect.). These transformations aren't even animated, so youwill never see Rou or Kichi go 'super saiyan' for lack of a better term, it just sort of happens in their sleep, and there's descriptive text on screen telling you what took place. Additionally, there seems to be a major fan of Law and Order on the production staff because every day that passes in the anime, they display in text, how many days have passed since the start of Rou's life... with the same exact little melody....every... single... time.... There are definitely some themes/tropes that will turn some people off but I'd rather not spoil the plot... which is not great by any means but it's probably enjoyable enough to sit through 20 mins a week if you are an Isekai/fantasy fan. 5/10
Not the worst Isekai I've ever seen but far from the best. The manga is a lot better. The anime skips a lot of content, and what it doesn't skip it tends to breeze over very quickly. The "Day xx" works very well in the manga because it shows what's actually happening and sets up an actual progression. Since the anime moves so fast and skips so much it's just annoying to watch. "Daty 1" a few seconds later "Day 2" a few seconds later "Day 3". This season goes through more than 100 days and almost all of them have this "Day xx" inthem. So you can immagine how annoying this gets every few seconds, and takes up a lot of valuable time that could be used for actual story progression. I understand that the animators were trying to get to the "meat" of the series as quickly as possible, but this was not the way to do it, they skipped a lot of important character building and world building in favor of fight scenes that last a few seconds at best rarely progress the story. I think that slowing the story down, focusing more on character building and world building instead of fights like the manga did would make this 10x better. If your only exposure to this series is the anime then you are going to be very confused by the end of it because a lot of the MC's decisions seem like random whims instead of well thought out descisions. Furthermore, they make a lot of descisions based on what he learns about this world, and what he does or does not know about this world which all have consequences, but you don't know any of that because the anime ompletely skips over it. For comparison lets take Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken. It would be as the anime started out with Rimuru getting stabbed, waking up and saying "I'm a slime" then without wandering around the cave met veldora and wihout even talking to him just ate him, then skipped past the other monsters to the part where he leaves the cave, meets the goblins at the door to the cave and they instantly crown him their leader without talking, then because he's their leader he beats the wolves, and that's ep 1. The anime isn't bad, and I expect if they get a second season they will retcon a bunch of stuff with "memories" as it becomes relevant, but even so at this point it's very confusing, the breaks every few seconds for "Day xx" is extremely immersoin breaking, and it's just not good. I'd rate it as mid as a stand alone anime. If you've read the manga then it's really nice to get to see your favorite characters animated, that's about it though.
Fast reviev: Good start. Nice temo. No hitting eye CGI. Many battles. Sigma main protagonist. We can say that its kind of city builder like in "slime" Not typical isekai, i would said its more like "the beginning after the end" kind one(i mean the world where our main character came from). Main hero just entire series farm all abilities, where 99% was uselles and even anime skip thoes xD Kinda mix of 2 series: "slime" and "I Get Stronger the More I Eat"Mid to end part of series kinda boring. End mid. In conclusion Would be 8 if mid or end part was better.
harem OP isekai slop with the added bonus of everything feeling morally questionable at best. and not in a funny or quirky way or in any way that would make it fun to watch with friends while intoxicated. its just. nasty this took an interesting premise that i enjoyed in other isekai ive watched and then COMPLETELY RUINED it. every aspect of this anime is just covered in an uncomfortable layer of slimy degeneracy for no apparent reason. the main character is a hypocrite with half of what he says and does and has pretty much 0 personality otherwise or any sort of growth or anythingredeeming. and yes, he is supposed to be a monster but its incredibly hard to care about anything that happens or feel at all emotionally invested in something when you dont actually like any of the characters in it. theres a right and a wrong way to portray an anti-hero sort of main character, but usually it starts with having them actually have some sort of defining character traits, development, motivations, ANYTHING. the only interesting aspect of this story's protagonist is the tidbit of a backstory we get, and thats pretty much never expanded upon. i think id rather have watched an anime about his backstory rather than what happened post-reincarnation. for every interesting thing this anime introduces, there is an anime that has already done it, but 1000 times better. and without the weird scenes this has.
This anime is potentially fun but it very much depends on your particular preferences and tolerances. Overall, this is a very horny, fantasy-fulfillment story. Do not expect more from it and you can have a great time. The men are constantly shirtless, while the women wear revealing clothing and are down to bang at the slightest hint of consideration. Our team wins every fight, is always OP, is respected and admired by all, and almost always gets along with each other. They are good friends who respect each other, love fighting, and strive to constantly get stronger together. Mixed feelings explanation: 1. There's some objectionable, potentiallyupsetting subject matter, but it's mostly glossed over and treated light-heartedly. For some people that helps and for some that makes it worse--YMMV. I was on the fence about this anime until the very end, pretty much. The MC is not supposed to be a morally upstanding, admirable person and we know that from the beginning. So when he makes immoral decisions/commits immoral acts, you can either be upset because it is immoral regardless of context or be fine with it because it is consistent for his character and not being represented as "good." However, the MC *is* represented as the lesser evil and/or good relative to the beings and cultures around him. That's the part that bothered me all the way through. "At least he's better than them" is not a valid excuse to me. I can totally get on board with complicated or grey moral areas, with immoral or amoral protagonists, etc. I just don't like it when moral superiority is inserted into those stories. Just because this is not as bad as that doesn't make it good. 2. Focusing on a completely different aspect of this anime that will get varying reception from viewers: leveling up/evolving! Everyone keeps evolving all the time and getting different names + our MC gets new abilities CONSTANTLY. Some people will find this fun and a creative take on anime protagonists' constantly rising power levels. Here, there is a pre-existing structure for it with rules and requirements. The rules are mostly "rule of cool" + "rule of convenience" and the requirements are basically "a big battle or story beat happened" and/or "this person has evolved, so their friends have to evolve too or the group will be imbalanced." Still, it is slightly less nonsensical than usual anime nonsense and contributes to worldbuilding. The names thing just seems impractical and annoying to me, but it's not a big deal. The names are very directly related to power sets and/or species (e.g. gobjii = goblin + ojisan and blood sato has blood-related powers). Not hard to keep track of even as characters change and as more characters join the cast. The constant new abilities are skimmed over quickly, which makes them tolerable for me. Then I just get to enjoy the cool nonsense in the next battle without having to remember the name of every ability and its upsides/downsides. The anime gives you enough information to get what's going on without lingering on ultimately unimportant details. There's plenty here to enjoy and plenty to object to--it's entirely dependent on the individual viewer. Regardless, don't take it too seriously and have a good time! If you don't like it, then there's plenty fantastic anime out there. If you do like it, it's finished airing and thus ready to be binged. :D
Unashamed. That's the best way to describe this. It's a decent adaptation of the manga. There is bits that are cut off but it mostly follows the same path. The protagonist is a man who ate things to gain their power who then died and was reincarnated as a goblin in a fantasy setting. And guess what. He retained his power of munching. And so he does. He eats. He eats everything and learns abilities from whatever he puts in his mouth. Even rocks! This very quickly snowballs out of control making him as the genre demands, overpowered. The story begins with our protagonist being bornin a litter of goblins, who are one of the weakest creatures in a fantasy setting, and quickly picking himself up in a new environment. He makes friends with his siblings from the same litter and the comradery and adventure begins! And then the women appear. And more women, and more, and they all love him uncoditionally, aand before you know it half the screen time it taken up by these forced relationships in such a way that I cannot help but admire the production for going along with it. It's unashamed. It's too much. It's ridiculous. And I like it. There is no pretense. It's just pure male fantasy. Aside from the crazy harem the ?"overarching story"? is just our evolved goblin and his friends making their way in their neck of the woods, and getting stronger, more numerous and more famous. There is battles, there is heavy metal music, there is "I was only using 1/10th of my power", there is some dark stuff that never gets said openly and there is the old goblin. Overall it's not great, and it's made for a specific audience that I'm not exactly a part of, but I still enjoyed it. 7/10
Re:view In the beginning we find the MC stabbed to death for unknown reasons and reincarnates as a goblin. In this world there´s a leveling system, which if you reach acertain level you evolve or acquire new skills, since our MC has an ability which allows him to gainany abilities from those he eats he gets extremelly OP very fast. Now this anime does have a lot and a mean a lot of your typical Isekai/Fantasy cliches, however I did find it enjoyable since there´s decent comedy and decent fights. This anime can be controversial to a lot of people due certain scenes and heavy harem troope in itsince the MC is now a "goblin". If you´ve seen "Goblin slayer" or seen any other Isekai/Fantasy anime you can probably tell where I´m going with this. Altho I can say the MC isn´t a douchebag there are some scenes where it´s a bit implied that he forces a few people. There´s is little world building and character development, since most of it is skipped or glanced over. Sure we can see how they evolve and how they adapt to new threats but it´s not great. It´s a shame how they left bits out from the material source. The anime is fast pace due the MC´S special ability to level up faster as well as his companions and acquire new skills. The music is somewhat decent altho not great the best part without a doubt is the OP. The animation is passable, there are some fights scenes where it lacks and is bad however later on it slowly gets better. Overall the reason why I rated it a 6 is because towards the end of the season there are noticeable character developments as well as the story getting better and I did enjoy watching it. I´ve read a bit of the Manga and I can say that there are a major things skipped from the Manga like how the leveling system works, races, world building, etc. It frustrates me since by having all of those things explained we can make sence of certain bits in the anime that aren´t covered. Now I can understand why they skipped some of it and why the animation is not great due to budget issues however for what they had they did a passable job of adapting it for me to want a season 2. If you are thinking of watching this anime I´d probably suggest reading the Manga since it covers more things. How I rank (This is just my opinion): (Inspired by Huang-Teizan) 10 - Bendicion de Dios 9 - Now this is Peak!! 8 - Bingeworthy! 7 - Good 6 - Enjoyable 5 - Either Echii or just enough to get by 4 - I´m just here to know how it ends. 3 - "Are you related to Rent a Girlfriend?" 2 - Que cojones 1 - My head doesn´t explode because it can´t. 0 - "Even a Hentai has a better story than you!"
Oh well, look, this trashy manga got an adaptation. Why? Who needed it? Wasn’t there anything better to adapt? Who knows, but let me tell you how bad this trash is. Visuals. Take a look at any picture related to this title. See those humans with a bit of a different colour of skin? Those are supposed to be goblins. Even better, after evolution most of them basically become humans with slightly bigger fangs. If this is not a good enough explanation of how little effort was put into the animation - check anything else. Everything looks bad and cheap. And at some points the combatisn’t even shown, here is your “I killed X and got Y from this fight”, a really great “show, don’t tell” implementation, am I right? Sound. Is it even there? VA did barely any job, and the bgm - I can’t even tell if this anime had any. Story. Oh boy, finally the worst part. First of all, this whole thing is a “diary” of sorts, so everything is structured like said diary with really abrupt cuts between days. And considering the events I can only guess that this is a self-insert fantasy diary of some edgy 14 yo teen who is REALLY horny but can’t get any female attention. You can’t really impress me with OP “heroes” in the isekai anime that has RPG stats, and watching a show about an all-knowing all-mighty being who just gets skills/power cause he has a UNIQUE ability to absorb stuff through eating isn’t really fun, cause a lot of time is wasted on just naming the things that MC killed, ate and what skills he got from it. Maybe if he actually used half of it - sure, but most of the stuff is just there to bloat the list. Ok, we got through the OP part, what about being horny? Well, I have a question for the author: why didn’t you write and publish this thing as a hentai if it is just a hentai plot with all the action heavily implied, just not shown? For example, our protagonist speedruns 5 human captive girls into Stockholm syndrome in 2 episodes to the point that they beg him for sex. Yes, they beg a demonic looking 2m+ tall ogre with horns (evolution from a goblin, just don’t ask how this works) to have sex with them. Yeah, author, I understand that no real woman will ever ask you this, but it is not the reason to justify unleashing your poor written fanfic on our world. But wait, there is more! After that the “hero” adapts the “it is not rape if she asks for it” mentality aaand… drugs every single captured woman till she breaks from hornyness. At this point MC will mention that he had sex REALLY often, but we all already understand how unsecure the author is so it didn't really surprise me. Characters. Kidding, did you expect that there would be anything after the previous paragraph? Even MC is simply a vessel of the author's wishes, the rest of the cast are tools of various sorts, be it a tool for world domination, for equipment grind or sex. Overall/enjoyment. This show is pure trash. It is not fun, it is not entertaining, it is not interesting. It is a waste of time and doesn’t deserve even the lowest rating possible.
The most inconsistent anime i've ever watch How they narated this was so lazy, they just make the mc yapping abt the whole plot They really love to info dumping but they use none of them to make the world building better, its sucks The power scale? Horrible The animation? Its not that bad, but not good either, they're lazy to animate fight scene, even worst, they cut most of it To many sudden things happen and they're didn't even bother to explain it, bruh you just info dumping us before and now you're to lazy to explain The pace? So freakin fast like a flash, feels like whenyou watch someone makes video abt explaining an hour movie to one minute only The character development sucks, i invested to none How they cut a scene was horrible, when iam boutta sad abt something, THEY IMMEDIATE CUT IT WITH THAT ANNOYING NUMBER OF DAYS SCENE. Freaking hell Things that i like abt this anime is the design of female chara, its not like dazzling or something, but at least its good And the opening, i kinda like it And Ayumu Murase, but damn, his appearance was very brief
