Konoha Satou has a dark history. After all, she spent her teen years writing self-indulgent fantasy romance fics-like her Dark History. But since she's become its most despicable villainess, remembering every last detail is now a matter of life-and-death. Having avoided the first couple of death flags, Satou's suddenly left in the dark when a mysterious stranger returns from the Lily Kingdom-a character she doesn't recall writing in the original script. Although Yomi claims to be her ally, can Satou really trust a character she knows nothing about in such a dangerous world? (Source: Yen Press)

“If it isn’t the consequences of my own actions” the anime. Ever created your own head canon/OC and wanted to escape to that world? Well, be careful what you wish for. As Iana discovers in this show, things don’t always turn out as rosey as we imagine them in our heads. Tenkuro isn’t a groundbreaking show, but it is an extremely fun Otome style story because it follows Iana dealing with the edgy universe she created back in school as an escape from her mundane life. While her real life was boring, this world she created in her story was anything but. It’s a worldof magic, hot guys, perfect female self inserts like her namesake Konoha and a villainess who is constantly trying to kill her sister and is hated by the entire kingdom. Iana being reincarnated as the villainess and having to deal with the fallout from the story she wrote is so fun to see play out. Yes, a lot of the things you see in this show are not original. We’ve seen them done in many other Otome shows. The thing that makes this show fun is that it’s aware of those tropes and is poking fun of how cringe they are through the lens of Iana who wrote this story. Seeing Iana fight to change the perception people have of her and ensure she gets a good ending, even though everything in this world is stacked against her was a blast. There’s a nice amount of romantic teasing, comedy, some action, this has everything I could want in a shojosei like this. We get 1000 male self insert isekai slop shows a year, so I see absolutely nothing wrong with the ladies getting a fun parody spirited show like this! Your enjoyment of this show will basically come down to how much you like Iana. If you find her antics funny, you’ll have a good time. If you take everything too seriously in this, you’ll won’t. Fortunately for me, all of Iana’s jokes and gags hit. Seeing her overcome one obstacle just for another death/bad end flag to pop up in its place was great. The absurdity of the story is what makes it to me. This show gets progressively more unhinged as we go on, but it’s also got a genuine charm to it. Iana begins to empathize with the character of Iana and feels bad for creating such a world where people had to endure such hardships. Obviously most of us are not going to be isekai’d into our own story worlds, but I do think it’s a nice little creative thought process to envision how YOU would feel being in the shoes of a character you created. It adds an authenticity to the story and will probably help you write a better one overall. The way things diverge from the original story she created as the show goes on keeps things unpredictable and engaging as well. Iana doesn’t know what’s coming next which means she needs to fully understand her characters and world. I’m a romance merchant so for me, after Iana herself, her interactions with the male leads, especially Sol, were awesome. In typical villainess fashion, Iana becomes the center of everyone’s attention and pulls all the hot guys. While some like Yomi are just plot conveniences, I actually really liked how things played out with she and Sol. It’s a gradual thawing that shifts to romance and it’s so sweet! I will definitely be reading more for them! The production values aren’t the best here, but they’re good enough for what the show is. Iana looks pretty, Konoha is cute, Sol, Yomi and Guinoford are hot. That’s all you need. Really enjoyed this show from start to finish. This has to be one of the most underrated shows of the season. If you go in with the understanding that it’s supposed to be campy comedy series that pokes fun at some traditional Otome tropes, you’ll really enjoy this. Iana is one of the most fun MCs this season and every moment she’s on screen is such a trip. I’ll miss this show Tenkuro gets 9 out of 10.
I think this show did a great job of executing exactly what it promised us: a story written by a dumb, edgy teenager, and said teenager facing the consequences after growing up. The cringey and generic parts feel intentional, making it not painful to watch and instead just pretty funny. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy villainess stories and dramatic main characters with wholesome intentions. The story isn’t very predictable, and, as one may expect from a story written by a young teen, slightly all over the place, but not in a bad way. The main character is a bit paranoid about deathflags, but this is mainly because she thinks in absolutes: she wrote her characters as stereotypes, with said things they would ‘absolutely’ do, such as protecting the heroine, her sister, and things they would ‘absolutely’ never do, like trusting her, the villainess. She believes this, while forgetting the human aspects the characters have gained after her story became her reality. Hoping for a second season :>
The villainous isekai genre doesn't have stories that revolutionized fantasy, but damn, they're fun. Something I'll always say about the genre is that, being so limited, it always forces you to be creative in some aspect. Tensei Akujo was creative in the figure of its main villain or antagonist. It's already a classic for the protagonist to reincarnate in a story of her own creation. It's just that the protagonist's writing counterpart isn't usually given much focus. Something they do here, and in a very entertaining way. Since the story was written by her teenage self, she's constantly attacked for the embarrassment of her teenage fantasies. It's hilarious to see how every conflict that arises within the main story is simply because the girl was raging on a summer day. While there are characters who are the villains of the moment, they only serve to let us see an aspect of the protagonist's personality. Furthermore, the rest of the world is designed for the protagonist's convenience, who was created to be a self-insert. So, since she's reincarnated as the villain, everything she designed for her own satisfaction is now what puts her in danger. I'm telling you, these aren't stories that will revolutionize the genre, but you'll never be short of fun. On the downside, the comedy can sometimes be too annoying. There's a point where you enjoy the characters, but then it gets to the point where instead of being funny, they become irritating. The protagonist steals so much of the spotlight that the supporting characters are somewhat neglected. The story doesn't invest any time or resources in the secondary characters. They only exist to embellish the protagonist's story. All the stories revolve around the villain, so the other characters can't develop properly because they depend on the story giving them that moment with the main character. The production overuses chibi models. There are moments where seriousness is needed, but for some reason, the characters remain in their chibi form. It's not really annoying, but it does break the immersion a few times. It's an anime made for fun, nothing more, nothing less. If you give it a chance, at least a laugh is guaranteed.
The 2nd villainess anime this season, and this one is with interesting promise. Despite some shortcomings it more than delivered. Animation and music: animation is on the budget and it shows, despite that what they did is very good. Sometimes it is hard to follow everything that is exploding on the screen but they did wonders with what they have. Music is nothing special, it get's the job done and that's about it. Only exception is controversy with OP song since it is so... out of element. But still, it was nice to hear something different instead of usual anime songs. Overall: animation is on budget butthey executed well with what they had. Music is usual one you get anywhere with the exception of OP song with is rather silly to say it the least. Characters: FMC is called Sato, she is hit by truck (of course xD) and is reincarnated as a villainess Iana Magnolia. Iana is interesting character to say the least, always nervous and on her toes becasue she fears for her life. For the duration of the show her character development is biggest, she went from shy and unsecured girl to someone as closest to the main heroine as possible. Although her insecurity and awkward behavior (she was like that when she was alive) is keeping with her for the entirety of the show and that can make or break it for some people. Other than her we have Sol, who is her butler and love interest. His development is that of a standard romance, he starts with the orders to kill her and in the end is secretly gushing for her. Yomi is in the same boat, except he was gushing from the start. Konoha and Gilbert are original MC's and sadly they do not develop at all except warmings up to Iana a lot more (to be fair Konoha was like that from the start and she keeps that trough entirety of the story). The rest are usual 1 to 3 episode villains and shadowy organization hinted at the end. Overall: Iana is one person that caries this show, liking or finding her annoying is what will make it or break it for people. The rest of the characters are fine but majority of them do not get any development at all. Story: Now this is where the anime get's interesting - Sato is reincarnated into her own story that she wrote when she was an edgy and horny teenager. And she is reincarnated as imuoto villainess who is destined to die in the first few pages of the story, talking about being given bad hand. xD The entire story follows Iana from scenario to scenario that she wrote and her struggle to see it trough and survive since she became kind of anomaly in the story and blocked true FMC to shine. This is also where many people find story boring or annoying because they expected some grand plot or twist but instead we got situation upon situation where Iana is panicking or cringing and trying her best to salvage it. This is in fact the backbone of this story - older women reincarnated into her own puberty novel and cringing hard at her fantasies at that time. And that part is executed perfectly, I had great enjoyment from start to finish. Overall: the story has interesting premise and it executes well the goals it sets itself. Some people may find it annoying because it is written as it is but those who can click with it will find it highly enjoying. Overall grade: 7. I personally gave it 10 because I enjoy it that much, but realistically it is somewhere between 7 and 8. What drags it down is budget it received, even if they did the best they could people can tell it is low budget show. And some tropes are overdone to the point many find it tiring, even if that is part of the story you cannot ignore that it can create issue with some watchers. Still, despite all the flaws it was a good villainess show. I recommend it to anyone who likes villainess anime shows, it is definitely is quite unique even in its genre. I they release season 2 one day I will watch it for sure.
