Alright, so Good Bye, Dragon Life—this one had some real potential but kinda left me feeling meh. The concept? Awesome. I mean, a crazy OP dragon reborn as a regular guy in a quiet village? That’s a solid setup. But the anime doesn’t really do much with it. Like, Dolan’s supposed to be this insanely powerful dude, but most of the time, it’s just him chilling, farming, or dealing with random stuff, and you’re left wondering, "Where’s all the dragon-level badassery?" The animation? It’s okay—nothing groundbreaking. Celina, the lamia, is definitely one of the highlights. She’s well-designed, and her awkward charm makes her kindaendearing. Oh, and there’s this elf girl who shows up—let’s just say she’s very *noticeable*. You’ll know what I mean when you watch it. But yeah, the pacing is "slow". Like, painfully slow at times. They could’ve easily trimmed down some parts and made it more engaging. It’s not bad overall—there’s a cozy vibe to the story, and if you’re into slower-paced fantasy, you might enjoy it. Just don’t go in expecting anything too epic. Would I watch a Season 2? Probably not. It’s a decent one-time watch, but it doesn’t really leave you craving more. Still, if you’re into chill fantasy stories with a sprinkle of magic and odd friendships, give it a shot.
Holy fuck that was horrible. The dialogues are dumb, the characters are horribly boring, the fights aren't exciting at all, and the plot is not interesting. Who the fuck thought this kind of story is a good idea to adapt? This is like an author's first ever fiction that is so full of flaw and yet still get published because why not. This is shit. I thought maybe people may like the characters design and visuals but well, it's just a boring design at best. No cute personality and on top of that no cute/hot design, what the hell? The comedic moments aren't funny at all like whaat? So the dragon got killed and reincarnated as a human... Why? Why the fuck did the hero killed the dragon? If he's not evil then what was the fucking reason? It might be much more interesting character if the dragon was indeed an evil dragon trying to destroy the whole world before or something. This boring ass Dolan doesn't have any fucking trait than being a typical dense MC that loves his village so much he wants to fuck its land. His "Fumu" is so fucking annoying as well. Fucking rant review, but who would stop me?
It's as if i watched a completely different show.... I'm here to tell you all to ignore these negative reviews and watch it for yourself, stop following the sheep and come into this experience with an open mind. Personally i thought i would just start one episode, then go to bed, but here i am finishing the entire thing in that same sitting, ruining my sleep schedule. The "people" want a big plot, "the people" want to be lead on like a pig chasing a carrot on a stick. They want to be bombarded whilst being overstimulated with plot points collocated with character motivations that lead no-where allcrammed tightly into 12 episodes. They want proper logic thrown out the window, fantasy worlds practically and mechanically abandoning reality simultaneously losing all wisdom in writing. They'll just lap up progressive programming with unorthodox sexual themes shoved down their throats. They'll larp and pontificate about how "relatable", "wholesome" and "stoic" a young school girl's life is to their own as a man in their 20s. They'll praise animation for having a split-second frame you have to pause the video to see. There's just no hope anymore trusting the popular vote. The average 2025 viewer competes in attention span with the likes of the common housefly, we have officially entered the next phase in the cycle of this medium. There's now a stark change in the consuming demographic, a consequence of the anime medium's own success. We've gone the from typical viewer being a fringe semi-interlectual who wanted a bit more depth in their media to the bumbling midwit chasing the next dopamine hit. Back to the show... In "Sayounara Ryuusei, Konnichiwa Jinsei" we have no massive overarching plot, no major goal MC has to complete. We instead have a plot which starts small and slowly expands becoming better and better with every episode. A story which takes careful time with each character whilst keeping the character pool quite tame. It's refreshing, the binge is rather cathartic and I just have to recommend this show if you love fantasy shows. I can't find any glaring issues in the writing or the plot. It's quite compact. It's far from "generic" like many have said, oh these drone bots just love to parrot these obligatory terms they've seemlessly downloaded from the hivemind. The characters were perhaps the show's greatest merit, great or small they were utilized with a meticulous effeciency allowing each character the ablity to somewhat impose onto the greater story in a meaningful way. They felt real, their actions mattered, there never seemed to be a jobber, or a plot device character. It never felt that the MC was the centre of the universe, these characters had their own domains, spheres of influence and cultures. Their traditions and customs were upheld with a vigilant consistency which just kept me completely immersed. A rather vilitalizing find amongst this genre. The MC is a real standout here, he acts exactly how he is portrayed, there's very tactful consistency in his character, his movements his dialogue. It's a real joy to watch. He does spearhead the show and that's exactly how a these shows should work from this narrative perspective. Thankfully, no worthless passenger MC running around doing errands like a buffon with no will of his own. This MC doesn't play around with his foes, he's quick and just with the killing. When he's kind to others there's no farcical omnibenevolent garbage here, it's because he has proper reason to. They really show his wisdom and experience through his decisions and actions. The side characters have quite a lot of charm, not a single one annoyed me, which is rare. They are very consistent and in this short time there is very ample development. The dialogue is very stimulating, especially in conflict resolution, it's very mature with each party sounding very lively. Choreography in the fights took me by surprise there's a lot of logic, with a lot of very interesting confrontations packed into these 12 episodes. I found most of the fights well orchestrated with some care with moves that fit their respective races and powers, personally it was a joy to watch. There was practically no plot armor no stupid limit breaking conveniences you can tell alot of thought went into it. Is this show predictable? Yeah, but you, like me and many others now are not on our 2nd or 3rd or even 10th reincarnation fantasy, let's be honest we are truly in deep. At this point we can predict almost any show in this genre. We know the drill, we're familiar with all the common elements and last of all, we absolutely and unapologetically love it. Many of you put on a facade ostenatiously critiquing whilst rubbing your hands together and licking your lips every time a new show of this genre gets released, you paint the perfect picture of the kind of Pharasee that Jesus preached about. Crying about "generic shows" whilst you already know what type of show you are watching is just plain dishonesty. Notwithstanding I can't tell you a single show which had shared this show's particular premise. Oh and the "weird" that the weakest amongst us are groaning and babbling about? What these simple minds try to sell you as a drawback or problem conversly, i call it a boon and a blessing. With beastmen representing the beauty of the wealth in diversity of the animal kingdom, is it "weird" that these beast-people actually embody and play-out the animal characteristics they are genetically tied to? This is fantasy, it's time to get rid of your fake morality virtue signaling. You're only fooling yourself. if you hated it why do you check these type of shows out every season? Personally I am enamoured by such things, this type of creativity and intuitive construction of the characters make a show like this so utterly amusing. I've found that the deeper they go with the quirkiness of these characteristics as long as it's consistent it only adds to the immersion pulling you further and deeper into the worldbuilding. To give an example; you see a dog beast-man, you already know he's going to have sharp extraordinary sense of smell and in his nature he's going to be incredibly loyal to a fault. We already know this we don't even need to see it play out and it's pleasant to behold. It's very purposeful wrting from a brilliant mind that can piece together several factors of common life and surplant them efficiently into an interesting story. The soundtrack did a good job of tying the experience together for me, i'm actually quite fond of it after listening a second time. I wished they would have used them a bit more agressively, for atmospheric effect. If you listen to the individual tracks they are actually quite impressive. Saiki Tatsuhiko is quite underrated and he's done quite a few of the soundtracks for shows of this genre and they've all got above average to great soundtracks. The OP and ED were palatable, but if i'm honest OP and ED almost never affect my score or how i feel about a show because i just skip them both till i'm done with the series to avoid spoilers. Animation was another welcome suprise they did an alright job and at times it was quite pleasantly fluid and expressive. Coming from this interesting combination of studios, i was surprised. The artwork is quite sharp and it looks good most of the time. The last episode concludes this season succintly and it's quite satisfying, leaving a little lingering hunger for more. I am certainly locked-in for a second season, with the source starting almost 10 years ago, surely there's much more to adapt. Final Ratings. 7/10 Animation 7/10 Sound 8/10 Plot/Story 9/10 Characters 10/10 Enjoyment 41/50 = 8.2 = 8/10 Very Good Fantasy Fan? Hurry and binge it. Ignore the negative reviews. MAL has gotten to the point where FMAB isn't rank 1 any more we have the likes of Frieren and a Mid-piece special episode at the top. I'ts abundantly clear the masses cannot be trusted. The road is narrow, where there are many people there's a good chance it may not be your best option. Hope this helps.
A story about one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful dragon, being killed and reborn as a human in a frontline village. This is an okayish watch. A chill type of anime, that does not do a lot with its premise, at least not as much as it should, which I can already see made quite a few people dislike it. I mean, when you hear a dragon being reborn as a baby, you expect to see quite a lot of what it would mean for someone that lived like forever trying to live as a human, see how he handles his powersand knowledge... anything that involves the idea of a dragon reborn as a human... well, you don't see that much at all. From the start of ep 1, you can see that they literally skipped from him being born to him at age 15 or 16 (where he is considered an adult and has to leave the parents house), and that kinda tells you quite a bit about the story... You just end up with a human that has what it feels to me like fake personality and that is quite dense, with special powers, knowledge and entities like Gods he knows, trying to live normally in a village and find what he lacked while living as a dragon, like people that he cares about and stuff. You still do see him and his (really) old friends, because some entities can still see his soul and know who is he, and he still has ancient dragon powers that he uses from time to time, but that is not the main point of the story, which is a shame. The story focuses more on the human part, and sometimes, him being a dragon really doesn't do any special impact to the plot... At the beginning of the anime, for quite a bit of episodes, the story is very chill, bordering the boring level tho, with a few small arcs here and there, but towards the end of the anime it starts picking up the pace, sometimes a bit too much, and starts showing decent fights and more background about characters, or at least some answers/indications to answers to questions that you probably have about the story, like why is Christina in such a remote village while being the top student at the magic academy? But until you reach the better part... prepare for quite a few cringe discussions, quite a lot of yapping, especially during fights... man, some fights are so damn slow because of all the yapping and also feels like they just wanted to drag out the fights to fill as much of the episodes as possible, and I lowkey dislike the idea of a fight being "I power up, you let me power up, I hit you, then I let you do the same to me, and I will wait for you too"... not all fights are like that, but most are... The world seems quite rich and with a lot of potential, but you don't get to learn almost anything about it, the perspective of the story being mostly on the frontline village and the areas around it. You still get a glimpse of interesting things from time to time, that makes you questions some stuff, but too bad, you won't really get an explanation... Also, really nice new fetish that I never saw before: milk. Milk from a cowperson. In this world, a cowperson is just a human female with cow horns... Very interesting discussions being had in this anime about the milk... Story: 7 -- This story is more about the growth of the MC as a human, finding a place and people he loves, a reason to live. There doesn't seem to be much of a main plot, and they didn't touch much on the dragon part during the anime, even skipping his growth as a human kid... most dragon parts are towards the end of the anime btw Art: 8 -- Quite good art for this anime and fights, but I would have loved to see it more, but they chose to make some fights pretty boring to not have to use it... Music: 7 -- Nothing good, but nothing bad. I'm neutral Characters: 7 -- I did say the main point felt more about the growth of the MC... but damn, he is really slow, and still doesn't realize a lot of obvious things... Also why are there so many female interests fighting over MC, when we already have a main one that everyone with more than 2 braincells can clearly see that she's the one for MC? Kinda infuriating tbh, cuz it just makes me feel bad for the FMC. Also a lot of kinda cringe interactions and convos, and also the MC feels like he just adapted what he sees as the good type of human personality and sticks to it like crazy, which just feels a bit disingenuous... Enjoyment: 7 -- Most parts I've seen them as chill rather than boring, but there were a few parts that just became boring for how long they took for the sake of dragging out... towards the end of the anime it started to be more entertaining, but then it felt like they just started rushing stuff.... very weird pacing if you ask me... Overall: 7 Right now it has 6.34 from 33.365 votes Ranked #8115 Popularity #2608 Members 79,247 as of 03/05/2025. I can recommend this anime only to people that want to watch a really chill anime in a fantasy world, that are okay with not having many explanations, the focus being more on the MC trying to find his place in the world and what he lacked as a dragon in his past life (which is basically just a reason to live). Do not expect much from this anime, and you might be fine...
A speedrun through your typical isekei genres. Unfortunately, it did not work. Whether this is the fault of adapters or the original LN author, I cannot say and have no interest in finding out. It starts out as a chill slice of life, with some mild hints at violence, turns into a bit of a romcom, flips to a battle shounen, then has a single "horror" episode, then ends back at romcom/SOL. The arcs, as I'll call them, go nowhere fast. Too many gear shifts to make it enjoyable and at the last episode they head off to magic school. Which begs the question ofwhy they didn't start there or had 1 or 2 episodes to cover what was in this entire season. The individual elements are mediocre at best, but the writing drags it down to a 4/10. Given how the character can pretty much resolve all conflict by himself, it had no need to turn 4-5 episodes into a battle shounen, ~25 minutes of which was watching some elf woman get her ass kicked. With all that said, if you're desperate, you might find something you like. But it doesn't appear that the LN has been picked up by a western publisher and since its another Alphapolis special, it likely never will.

If you are looking for an anime whose story will touch your hearts then go for it. The first few episodes may be slow but once you reach episode 6 the quality improves drastically. You will get attached to the characters and feel the emotions of the lonely dragon. Only suggestion is that the quality of first half of the season could be really improved. Hoping for season 2. The story is typical fantasy story but the depths it adds to the characters is what steals the show. The concept of lonely dragon reincarnating is great and if you like OP MC then go for it. Alsothere are lots of mysteries waiting to be unfold. Genre is fantasy, romance, action and harem.
Review Title : A Story Full of Potential but Lacking Substance Sayounara Ryuusei, Konnichiwa Jinsei begins with an interesting concept, but sadly, it falls short in providing substantial content or emotional resonance. The series seeks to delve into themes of life, death, and personal development, yet it soon becomes evident that the narrative doesn’t truly progress in a meaningful way. The tempo is gradual, and the storyline does not have the depth needed to maintain the audience's interest. The characters, while showing potential, continue to feel shallow and poorly developed. There’s a minimal emotional bond with any of them, and their behavior frequently seems contrived and expected.Rather than concentrating on building significant connections or improving their surroundings, the series dedicates excessive time to trivial aspects that fail to enrich the narrative. What renders this series unsatisfying is its inability to fully develop its intriguing concept. It introduces significant concepts but does not delve into them in a manner that connects. The rhythm turns monotonous, and the emphasis leans excessively towards generating dramatic scenes that seem undeserved. In the end, Sayounara Ryuusei, Konnichiwa Jinsei misses the emotional impact and complexity that would have made it a valuable viewing experience. If you seek a story that challenges your thinking with character growth and a significant storyline, I suggest avoiding this series. It lacks the depth required to differentiate it from other anime, and eventually, it seems like squandered potential.

I do not understand the negative reviews....Yes it is nothing groundbreaking or original, but it have dark and light moments and more believeable characters and behaviours than many "popular" and hyped animes. Sadly I can`t say too much good about the drawings and animation....It is really basic and the second is nonexistant However...The reincarnated dragon behaves like a dragon about things unknown to him (sexuality and various "adult" topics) The wood elves behaves as well (small detail but when they meet each other and what their leader says is "thank you for your help but wtf are doing in our forest?" sounds nothing important butjust check animes nowadays how rare is a logical approach to an encounter (same applies how the wood elves treats them at first....) Overall I recommend it...Won`t be a groundbreaking experience but nowadays Solo Leveling is "peak storytelling", therefore the bar is lower than the bottom of the Mariana trench....and this anime is way above that bar
This is a mix bag, there is a huge amount of promise and potential to it, it has so many good moments, but rather than being a stand out slow-life anime with great characters and thoughtful moments, it ends up being only slightly above average due to not being willing to commit to such a concept and instead adding in large amounts of generic action storylines and moments. Maybe I'm the odd one here, but I don't want to plotlines that are so generic that you can easily predict what is going to happen, just because it feels it needs to be exciting and have actionbattle scenes for those who are easily bored and hate everything else in the series, it pleases no one so just stick to the slow-life themes because that is where the series is the strongest. The slow parts and the character parts are where this series shines, the series is about loneliness, acceptance, being who you are and learning to live life to its fullest. Dolan an ancient dragon lived a fairly lonely life, and he didn't care when his death came as he didn't care much about life at the time, he is reincarnated as a human and starts to learn what it means to live his life, he loves the village he's in and the friends he's made, he is worried however about what people will think about him should it be exposed that he has a dragon soul. Enter Celina, a Lamia, Dolan meets her when he is away from the village and due to events becomes her friend and decides to help her move into the village and become a part of it, which is easier said than done as Lamia's are monsters and people are scared of them, so he has to get them to be willing to see her for who she is and accept her for who she is and see past her being a monster. Celina has the most character growth, gaining confidence and strength, and even becoming aware of her own feelings. Celina steals the whole series and is hands down the best thing about it. It was the interactions between Celina and Dolan and the bond that forms between them that kept me watching, this was what formed the heart of the series. Christina... they could have done more with her, much of her development comes in late, and then nothing is done regards it after that. The main parts of the story, the heart of it could have been reached without the need for including serial killers, demons from other dimensions or the very obvious, 'it was a dream' if it had just committed to the slow-life premise this could have been another Isekai Nonbiri Nouka, instead it barely stands out from the generic fantasy series that are two a penny. This series is however enjoyable, its potential does shine through, but it would be very average if it wasn't for that and if it wasn't for Celina.
