This is such a wonderful end to S2 of this anime. It cannot end any better than this. The way this anime planned everything out. The character development of Ars, Fam, Ruper and so many more that has been shown is all beautifully made. Story wise this anime is one of if not the best of this year. Ars truly is a magnificent lord who treats his people the same as family and now he will become a new lord of the people he is going to govern. Even to those who died in the heat of battle, he made sure to handwrite a letter tothe families of how hard they fought and how well they are. Louvent, Ars you are the GOAT of this along with, Muses, Rietz, Kischa, Rosell, Reis, Charlotte, Grangeon, Mireille, Pleide, Licia, Salamakhia, Couran, Pyres, Lumeire, and ofc our boy Fam. 10/10 anime. Can't wait for S3 to come!!!
Reincarnated as an Aristocrat, Round 2 — This Isekai has evolved into something better, and I can finally say that this is quality Isekai...though with a set of quirks that still lags it down. It's safe to say that since Spring of this year, novelist Mirajin A's Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru a.k.a As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World, has actually a lot of things going for it that makes it a quality "Isekai reincarnation" story in the making, though it wasn't fully realized when it seems that the series is taking the split-cour treatment to haveboth seasons air just a season apart so that the quality of the anime can be improved upon. And just after its opening notes of 6 months past, here we are back again on the second inning of the series, which dives straight into the menaces of wartime democracy. The question here for Season 2: Did the Appraisal portion actually improve on this portion of the series? And I have to say that it's a yes, though it's more of a wary "yes" than anything. With Season 2 focusing much on the Missian war arc, at this point in time, Ars Louvent and the gang, after having the former's father pass away, have a good notion for the son to move on to better things ahead. He and everyone must prepare for the impending war at hand to progress Missian as once an autonomous country that, with the setbacks of its predecessors, divided the land into provinces, each their own, back to solvency and harmony once again. That's quite the lofty goal coming from a reincarnated young boy, who's now a Lord in his own right and leading people beneath him to ensure that friend or foe, everyone deserves a second chance in the pursuit of harmony. The thing is, reality is not so simple as to follow one ambitious dream, as the battle between good and evil has its drawbacks, with sacrifices having to be made as each person sees issues differently, specifically the rivalry between the Salamahkia family, to which the clear divide between brothers Couran and Vasmarque has drawn this war to a stalemate to unite Missian altogether. One must go, and the other will live on to see his dreams be realized once the generals have been culled, once and for all. You can pretty much take my overall thoughts about Season 1 and apply it here, because they haven't quite addressed any significance about the characters themselves, though in this season, Ars got quite the upgrade that was sorely needed with his Appraisal abilities on the people that he hadn't yet met (which still is the focal point despite all of the war going on). Some people will like to lament that Ars's character development deteriorated because of the wartime subterfuge that he's not used to, and while I agree this to an extent, the son having his father Raven teach him about warfare back in Season 1 being the kicker to prepare for what Season 2's content lies ahead solves only half of the experience as a boy that's the equivalent of a peace treaty paper. But still, you cannot discount that Ars has been given proper development in the face of adversity when innocent lives are on the line from the pledging towards the loyalty of a young one who technically is only half-prepared on his wits for battle, despite his intelligent mindset thanks to his one and only valuable skill. Putting the series in a split-cour format only will result in constraints in production, and sadly, Studio MOTHER and series director Takao Kato were wholly underprepared for the amount of time they had to spruce up Season 2 being heavy on the action department. It's very telling when sacrifices have to be made to make the non-stop, endless battles interesting, and it shows when production went sloppy at certain moments of the season. Season 1 looked better by a mile, but that's because the action wasn't as prominent as is the case for the sequel here. The music, however, took a nosedive here. I don't know what it is, but while the OST remains consistent (as it's ever been), now the OP and ED songs have become boring as well. Not to shame on PassCode and Yuki Tanaka for their efforts, but Season 1 clearly wins this by tenfold. When all else fails, the story will make up much of the experience, but don't count Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru a.k.a As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World, in the same shoes as a similar show in its regard: last season's Shinmai Ossan Boukensha a.k.a The Ossan Newbie Adventurer. My criticism is that Mirajin A did improve on some things (like Ars's Appraisal skill) that make the series stand out, but like Season 1, it inches on key events to help make the difference that, depending on your outlook, will either shine or wither. For me to say that Season 2 was pretty much like the first, but on the deteriorating side, I was hopeful that it could be a small improvement to aid what Season 1 had set up, but ended up having mixed feelings about it. It's still as tolerable, with the discretion that your mileage will vary on how you critique the series to begin with.
I really wanted to like this season, because without the Isekai angle this could've been a decent show, but the MC hasn't progressed at all and in the span of twenty four episodes he still has done nothing of note, and his one definable character trait is to be nice. One thing you have to keep reminding yourself while you watch this show is that Ars is actually a forty seven year old man, something you would quickly forget based on how he is portrayed throughout both these seasons, he is as bland a character as you can get, no common sense and whatever wisdomhe may have had before being reincarnated is gone along with all those years of studying they made sure to show us in season one, he does nothing of note all while being lauded as the greatest general this world has ever seen and along with being easily flustered by the most banal conversations, (granted it's probably overly exaggerated for comedic effect) doesn't make for a compelling MC, especially when you take into consideration he's a grown man and not a twelve year old. As for the story itself the war portions are badly animated and the tactics which was supposed to be the highlight are either ass pulls for Ars and co. to prevail or the most basic shit ever relayed to us as being o' so clever. I think this show is liked because of what it isn't instead of what it is, okay the MC isn't OP, arguable, he doesn't have a harem, again arguable and the romance angle is this is mushoku level effed up but I'll digress. What this show isn't doesn't make it a good show, I'll rather watch an OP MC crush everything with a legion of fawning waifu's exclaiming their greatness than watch a MC blush, stutter and scream their way thru twelve episodes of mediocrity. Eh the world building and music wasn't bad, still there are a lot better ways to spend four hours, if you like the setting the manga and LN are much better, give those a try.
This is a good, character-driven show that's nominally an "isekai" but doesn't really capitalize on the premise. The Good: - The MC, Ars, is a likeable kid. He's got his special power, and he uses it to find extraordinary people and be extra nice to them so they'll join him, which they do. - His friends are interesting, especially as they relate to what he can see about them, and how they have room to grow. - The progression from minor noble to increasingly powerful noble is believable. It doesn't go too fast, and the wins feel earned. - We know what the goal is -- it's straightforward, butthere's more than enough challenge in the way, and no one is so OP that it doesn't seem like a challenge. There's one scene, especially, that highlights that Ars' ultimate goal won't just be about winning over enemies, but potentially stepping over allies -- and some of those allies are noticing. The Bad: - Please, I'm begging you: someone send the writers/director/whoever a basic guide to siege warfare. The way it is presented in the show literally hurts me. - Resolutions and changes of heart can be a bit too convenient at times. - I like Reitz as a character, but he's been kind of nerfed in Season 2. I hope they don't sideline older characters in favor of new ones as the series goes on. - Everyone's too nice, especially Ars. It can get a little tedious.
The only good thing I liked about the show was the soundtrack and that Lords theme with how it was represented to the viewers. But Yeah, this show's pacing's pacing is so immaculately poor. That I put it in the class of "I am so bored that I put two videos side by side with the phone in hand" class Absolutely hideous character progression or pacing of any like. Appaling approach to tactics and writing. Stretching out events to enternity and beyond, of course it get a Season 3.Because the so called marriage between two of the mc's would probably be across 12 episodes. Oh the only way to make it remotely apetizing is by adding +10 to all the ages of the characters in the show. Even then Ars, the male MC is just. I rather have an isekai harem protag that chokes on his own saliva. Hard Hard Pass.
A second season that started off generating doubts but ended up consolidating itself as a decent isekai. The isekai genre has been stagnant for years. Having this type of stories where they try to tell something beyond the harem in a fantasy world with a super powerful protagonist is always well received. This season was focused on a war arc, even though one would think that there would be many battles, it was not like that. It was an arc focused more on politics and the development of the links between a lord and his vassals. Consolidating the protagonist as a political force is the intentionof this entire second season. Which can be enjoyed as long as you come with the mindset that it is a political story and not a war action story. The animation was the biggest failure of this season. It started out being almost non-existent. At the beginning they were static images without any kind of background. The backgrounds were totally white or only had minimal designs but the white color predominated. At times the lip syncing didn't work either so you had strange chapters that made you want to give up halfway through. When the war started the animation managed to increase its quality but it was only one or two levels, it wasn't anything to write home about either. It only went from being unbearable to watchable. The animation remained weak especially with the scenes that involved horseback riding. The final stretch of the season is the best thing about the anime. That a child between 10 and 13 years old has to tell the families of the soldiers that they fell in battle is not an easy thing. What the script does well is not justify the protagonist or at least not make you feel sorry for him. Despite his young age he shows the maturity and empathy necessary to lead his people to a better quality of life. I know there are complaints about this story that the protagonist "does nothing." These complaints are far from reality, since the role of the protagonist is to lead, encourage and motivate his troops. He doesn't have an active role in combat, but that doesn't mean that the role he plays isn't important. The Isekai genre has done us harm and it is thought that every person who is reincarnated in a fantasy world must have combat skills and be the strongest. If you are willing to see a slightly different story, you may find here an anime entertaining enough to keep you hooked for a couple more seasons.
It was alright. Good for spending time. MC is bland but at least he's not a jerk. FMC is bland as hell, her only purpose is to make mc happy. There's basically no chemistry, just her fawning over him. Also they're a child. So the romance doesn't count. But they got married anyway. i don't know. Side characters are okay-ish. I like couran & viscount. The MC's servants are bland. They only have 1 character trait. But although I cannot enjoy the character, I quite enjoy the story. It's pretty good at creating tensions & have quite a depth I wasn't expecting. I hoped that they use more war references likefrom hannibal battles, or deceptions like in art of war. Sadly they chose flashy stuff instead of that. Still fine though, solid plot & it's quite engaging. This anime got me a little confused. It have some childish feeling into it while having heavy theme like war. Recommended if you're bored. [Kinda spoiler] Why is a baldie wearing only half his shirt in the middle of a war? It's kinda funny everytime he pops up lmao.
