In a fantasy world where "jobs" are god-given from birth, heroes are born, not made—and Ein's job of "Appraiser" has put him about as far from the "hero" pedestal as possible. Used, abused, and eventually abandoned by his fellow adventurers, Ein decides it just isn't worth going on. Lucky for Ein, though, the end may just be the beginning, as well as a new lease on life. Turns out, his "worthless" job may just be the key to becoming a hero after all. (Source: Kodansha USA, edited)

Even Given the Worthless "Appraiser" Class, I’m Actually the Strongest — Can we be done with these so-called "weak" classes that are OP as heck but paired with what I can tell is the most egregious choice of picking an even worse MC? "Turn off your brain and just enjoy the ride, no matter how truly good or bad it is." Don't you feel that lots of people have been calling shows as is and think that they can emit the same feelings as you do? It's definitely annoying, yes, but this repetitive trope will never go away for shows that "feel" like they deserve thequote above but end up being severely underwhelming, so there's no justification to prove otherwise. Case in point, novelist Ibarakino's Fuguushoku "Kanteishi" ga Jitsu wa Saikyou Datta: Naraku de Kitaeta Saikyou no "Shingan" de Musou suru a.k.a Even Given the Worthless "Appraiser" Class, I'm Actually the Strongest, is yet another story in the vein of weak-willed MCs that have OP powers attached to them but couldn't even muster one single ounce of a personal conviction for the audience to connect with him/her. Sometimes there are throwaway characters that duly just need not be cared about, and yet, there's MC Ein, the young man who's the butt of the joke being given the "Appraiser" skill from birth (as are others being done the same, being god-given), so while some people are born heroes, Ein unfortunately belonged to the boons, destined to be tortured by people as a tool for their bidding and cast on the wayside. However, one such misadventure led him to die a painful death after surviving such a harrowing life...only to wake up at the foot of a World Tree, only to recover miraculously alongside a new eye that he lost trying to deal with S-rank monsters the moment he walked out of that Sanctuary. With the right equipment, one's garbage is another man's treasure, and Ein effectively gained that treasure by having part of the World Tree as his new form of sight after losing a part of his eye, which, when paired with his Appraiser skill, becomes a tour de force to be reckoned with. Also, being kind will get you a love interest. See where this is all going? Despite having the major plot quest of the World Tree Spirit of Yuri and her guardian of Ursula to find her other sisters, Ein having to start from scratch to improve his skill, and speaking of his new Spirit Eye being able to attain powerful abilities from just about any human or monster to make it his own, that alone should be enough to suffice his Appraiser skill being mended into a skill that finally makes him strong, and for good reason. However, the reason standing that you'd think that his personality would follow along as well...nope, it was a total misdirect to think that Ein is like Honey Lemon Soda's Uka Ishimori and deals with her bullies all the same by the "forgive and let live" rhetoric. In fact, Ein's world has already been stretched to the point of determining who excels and who falls, and at the scrutiny of his once captives, Ein chooses to do the same but sometimes has second thoughts and thinks twice to commit to the full deal of ending his captives' lives for being unsalvageable, hence his goody-two-shoes personality of just wanting to forgive because there's no reason to fight against one's oppression out of jealousy, even if it's out of revenge. That should have been a massive red flag, but yet, this is his personality, and I kind of wonder what the author is smoking with his character. And as if the harem of the World Tree sisters and guardians all goo goo-gaa over Ein once they get to know him, it's just a trope for crying out loud, but a trope that's manifested in the wrong way (despite it being essential for Yuri's quest). In the 5 years of anime since its inception in 2017, I always thought that Okuruto Noboru is one of a handful of 3rd-rate studios trying to be the solution to the problem that the anime industry has had for years at this point, though the studio's biography just doesn't paint a good picture overall. Needless to say, next to the rather great showing of Spring 2022's Tomodachi Game, which has a similar premise and setting, the production never came close to that grittiness with its revenge-edge style story, instead opting for rather standard animation that just gets the job done. I mean, that's fine and all, but it's just nothing special. Even the OST is rather lacking and is just white noise overall. As "good" as both Asterism's OP and 22/7's ED songs are, they would've been fine for other shows, but this show is just only fitting for Asterism, and 22/7 finding their song here just does not fit the narrative whatsoever. Don't go thinking that Fuguushoku "Kanteishi" ga Jitsu wa Saikyou Datta: Naraku de Kitaeta Saikyou no "Shingan" de Musou suru a.k.a Even Given the Worthless "Appraiser" Class, I'm Actually the Strongest will be anything like Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi a.k.a Redo of Healer, because as a revenge story, it's just very tame and just not executed all that well. Even as a guilty pleasure, the number of issues outweighs the good, and it will only frustrate you to try and connect with this show, where subpar writing doesn't make a good show.
So I just finished this anime and although I did a review initially after 6 episodes I wanted to update my thoughts. I must say even though the concept of this show has done before Even Given the Worthless Appraisal Class has a unique and fun environment in which it accomplishes its story. In classic fashion we have an MC who's skill is deemed worthless by society as a whole, he is betrayed and in turn gets stronger as a result of his skill not being so worthless after all. What is unique about this story is it focuses on a skill or class mostanime fans have seen in one form or another, the Appraisal skill. In most anime stories this skill is almost EXCLUSIVELY a support skill or job where you are never in harms way. With this story we get to see our MC use this skill in combat not only to know his opponents skills and counter their attacks but upon defeating them, his ability to appraise and take those skills for his own. This adds a unique level to the series that we don't get with most Appraisal MCs. If you are looking for something a little more lighthearted in the Betrayed MC Becomes OP trope than you should give this anime a watch! It might just surprise you. If I had to describe it in terms of other anime I would say its a mix of Arifureta, Tales of Wedding Rings & Worlds Finest Assassin, so I hope that helps!!! This series was a very fun watch as each Spirit was unique and quirky in their own right which only added to the series as a whole. I am super hopeful that this anime will get a S2 so we can see Ein unite all of the spirits! 4 more to go!
Starts out semi promising then turns into yet another worthless beta b!tch MC won't kill the purely evil characters no matter what regardless of how much evil and literal child sacrifice they commit in from of him. If you are some kind of brain dead Canadian who thinks that "If you kill you enimies they win" then you will love this show. More info because the sh!t ass review system won't let me publish the actual minimun you need to know: Characters are all flat and have no growth throughout the show. As a harem anime the fanservice is lacking greatly with nothing titilating beingshown and as the MC is a dense retard who cannot figure out even the most overt of advances on him zero progress happens on any of the possible relationship fronts.
This anime is quite good, especially if you're a fan of the harem genre. As expected, it follows the usual tropes, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. The characters are incredibly cute and add a lot of charm to the story. Their interactions, comedic moments, and distinct personalities make the anime fun to watch. The storyline itself is decent, though I find it a bit predictable. It doesn’t bring anything particularly new or groundbreaking to the genre, but it still manages to entertain. The pacing is smooth, and the episodes flow nicely, making it an easy watch without feeling too slow or rushed.Visually, the animation is vibrant, and the character designs are appealing. The voice acting is also well done, enhancing each character’s personality and making their emotions more engaging. The humor is lighthearted and enjoyable, which helps keep the overall tone fun and relaxing. I’d say this anime is perfect for when you’re looking for something casual to watch, especially if you’ve run out of other options on your watchlist. It might not be the most memorable series out there, but it’s still a fun and charming experience for fans of the genre.
Now that this anime has come to an end I'll say that this been an amazing ride. We saw Ein each ep rebuild his character greater and greater, becoming an overall better and stronger person with the full support of those he loves and those that love him as more and more spirits enter his lives as he saves them and reunites them with their sisters. This isn't just a character development for Ein but also for everyone, Ursula, Yuri, Pina, Kursh, Akahane, Kurohime, Alice, and lastly May in many ways more or less. Now not sure why this anime is getting all these negative reviewsthat 100% isn't deserving of, either they haven't been paying attention or drop it early on. EIther way I beg to differ with their mere opinions. 10/10 Cannot wait for S2 to come bout
The best thing about this anime is the character design... and that's it. Another fantasy harem story hitting our screens. I'd honestly like to try my best to find at least two or three reasons why you should give it a chance, but I can't list more than one. That's the biggest sign that watching this anime might be more of a waste of time than a pleasant afternoon. The first two episodes try to be a story with more blood than average, but the blood only lasts in those episodes. Later on, this aspect isn't relevant. The protagonist starts by giving us something different, havingto reshape his body to get used to the powerful abilities he's acquiring, but once again, this only lasts in the initial part of the anime. The highlight and the only good reason I have to recommend it is the character design. Whether the character is a main character, a supporting character, an NPC, or a villain, the design naturally draws the eye. It's very likely that the only reason you'll stick around to finish the anime is because you like one of the girls, but other than that, there's nothing truly engaging about the story. The conflicts are resolved too quickly, the villains carry no weight. On top of that, the fights are over in seconds, so you don't even get a feel for the bad guy once he's defeated. Continuity is a big problem as the story progresses because you feel like you're skipping two or three chapters. The beginning of one chapter has nothing to do with the end of the previous one, and characters arrive at locations from one scene to the next, meaningless because the dungeons are supposed to be secret, but the main character seems to have direct access to every single one. If you're looking for something visually beautiful that doesn't require much attention, you'll probably like this. Still, I'd recommend looking for something better than this.
The show was pretty good up until he went full Pollyanna. I'm not saying he couldn't be idealistic or had to be edgy, but there should be a limit to how campy someone is. It just got annoying to watch, not because the action was bad, but the MC just kept doubling down on the "I need to be a good person and save everyone because I was helped and saved!" ...somehow this review needs more information, and the suggested bullets are all things I already addressed. -It's not unique, but its fine in that it follows the get an OP power trope -The art is fine -Thecharacters were disappointing. The sisters all seem to embody a "moe" trope and the MC doubles and triples down on the "I've got to use my power to be a good person!" to the point of obnoxiousness -It started out realistic with showing off human greed and its the bad nature, but then it was like "The MC said a thing, so the last 15 or so years of being treated like garbage don't matter anymore and we can move on!" -Even turning off the brain doesn't make this watchable and I have a pretty high tolerance for Isekai. It can be as cookie cutter and use all the tropes it wants, but when you make the protagonist incredibly annoying to root for and their misguided notion of making the world better by doing the dumbest possible stuff and making life harder on himself and everyone else around, it just becomes a bit much.
** spoiler free, bief summary ** This anime tells a simple story that isn't particularly original. While it's not outright bad, it doesn't bring anything fresh to the genre either. Some episodes are entertaining enough to keep you watching, while others feel a bit low-effort and lack energy. It’s best suited for times when you're bored and want something easy to watch without too much thinking. The main character himself isn’t very memorable, but some of his companions manage to leave a better impression — although even a few of them, especially the two introduced near the end, didn’t get enough time to develop properly. Unfortunately, manyside characters also feel underused, and the story as a whole ends up feeling somewhat unfinished. There’s no strong antagonist to provide real conflict or tension either. The animation is average but gets the job done, and the art design isn’t bad. The music isn’t particularly memorable — not something you’d listen to on its own — but it doesn’t interrupt the viewing experience either. Final Thoughts: It’s not a must-watch, but not a complete waste of time either. If you’re looking for something light and easy to pass the time, it might do the trick. Just don’t expect anything groundbreaking or deeply engaging.
Plot/Story: Quite stale tbh. I mean this is one of those OP MC anime, which usually doesn't really have a good plot which is fine and you just watch it for the OPness. But this one I feel like it's trying to be both, which results in it being half baked. Not very enjoyable OP power/MC, and not very good plot. 5/10. Animation: Not the worst, like not as bad as The New Gate. But the animation in fights is awkward and doesn't look fluid, aka lazy animation. Even the normal animation outside fights feels a bit wonky. 5/10. Cringe: Has some moments where it feels verycringey. Like the MCs interaction with the girls. The cringiness I wouldn't say is as bad as Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Boukenroku: Jichou wo Shiranai Kamigami no Shito. If the cringiness in Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Boukenroku: Jichou wo Shiranai Kamigami no Shito is annoying, this one feels stale and boring. 5/10. MC: Stale. Typicaly wimpy nice guy MC, but less enjoyable to watch. 5/10. Hype moments: Almost none tbh. It was quite exciting in the beginning when the MC gets his power. But other than that, not so much that motivates you and keep you going. 4/10 Overall: I would give it a 5.8/10. It's an okay watch. Quite stale and boring at times, but at least it's not annoying to watch.
My god was this a tragedy. Genuinely interesting first two? episodes laying out the character and then the powers he gains in what I felt was a pretty unique setting and situation! Then it immediately descended into worthless horny drivel of every single breathing thing around the MC throwing themselves endless at the MC with an unending list of anime tropes. Feels like the makers had a concept and nothing else and just needed to get their rocks off fanaticizing for themselves. They've set up for a season two, which I strongly hope does not occur. They give the MCa background, and you understand who he is and why he is the way he is, but they also abandon that hierarchy except for one mention in an episode about midway in, and even at that point, the plot point is forgotten due to the drivel that has already started. Don't get me started on the last episode and a half either. They literally ran out of story and just spent it...cleaning a castle while having everyone hit on the MC? There were several points I just skipped five seconds just because I was aware nothing of value was happening. If you want to get your fan service and pretend large endowed woman fawn over you, this is the show for you, if you want plot and character development, RUN.
At first, I was excited, and the anime really seemed promising. Then the creators decided to bombard us with a ridiculously huge amount of unfunny jokes and embarrassing behavior from every character. I don’t even feel like mentioning the MC, who’s trying to be the new Tanjiro. If anyone gives this anime more than a 5/10, it's probably just because of the ecchi nothing else. The only thing that could have changed my opinion would be an ending where the goddesses, after using the MC to the fullest, finally end his life, but that didn’t happen. For me, it’s a 3/10.
