thats enough ! yeah i will not be tuning in for season 3 lol. fire force treatment, 2 straight seasons of mid, and im gonna call it quits. im bowing out. dumb ass fandom discourse aside, yall got this one. dandadan has to be the biggest tragedy since the aforementioned fire fighting shonen and as usual its super disappointing because, as usual, its something that looks super cool and should be super cool ! but as usual, it spends all of its time cultivating the absolute worst parts of its conceit (constant distractingly ugly characters constantly screaming as loudly as fucking possible in their intentionally annoying voicesinstead of telling actual jokes) instead of the best parts (literally just focusing on momo and okarun and their blossoming romance), and that is super annoying honestly, so im fed up i think i really checked out during the giant worm arc at the beginning of this season. that old hag with the afro did it for me, she was the nail in the coffin. a grating voice, perpetual screaming, total lack of any actual jokes or punchlines, just a mess. could barely even enjoy the only other good quality of this show (the animation/fight choreography) because that bitch kept shrieking the entire time so i was just gritting my teeth until the equally annoying end credits song began to play. and even after that bit ended we're still met with equally unfunny gags in the following arcs, equally annoying character introductions, equally unappealing designs, equally nonsensical choices, and an equal disregard for the most intriguing part about this series, which, again, is the romance between the two leads who, if my friend who is caught up in the manga is to be believed, barely get any further development even as deep into the story as those caught up currently are. its insane, so im checking out! this isnt even touching on the deeply immature and oddly sex repulsed holier than thou fanbase whom i am praying exclusively exist on twitter; their repetitive circular braindead echo chamber ass conversations give my hemorrhoids hemorrhoids and its not worth the splitting headache or cramping my block finger trying to weed out all of these covid tourists to continue enjoying a show im barely enjoying in the first place. jjk, fire force, meet dandadan. yall all deserve one another. mainstream shows continue to disappoint and prosper while actual high quality and intriguing things like call of the night continue to flounder and fade away into a sticky nothingness after like a season and a half. super bummer. unfunny, unappealing, diet flcl for zoomers who were too young to know that garterbelt used to have minstrel lips. enjoy the rest of the series tho & i mean that sincerely
I liked it. But not as much as season 1. Or rather, they should have just made season 2 the second part of season 1 because in no way does this season make sense by itself. Season 1 started strong and introduced us to many spirits/aliens that made sense. Everything was happening all the time. Lots of stories and characters that made sense. Acrobatic Silky made me cry and then some. Season 2? Felt more disjointed than usual after they came back from Jin's house. It started great, but dwelled way too long on Evil Eye as a whole that everything that came after felt filler. You can't help but hate Kinta instantly. The pacing feels OFF. I want to go back to season 1 where every episode was exciting and had emotion unlike any other. Maybe I'm just finally seeing Dandadan for what it really is. Or maybe it's just a weak season. It might be purely worth it for the Jin related episodes but to skip the rest because /ugh/ I feel too old for the kaiju/mecha bit. Animation and the like is still ever on point thanks to Science Saru, so I'll give it that much for the score.
s1 had a very unique flare to it which made me like it a lot but s2 is just the most repetitive it could have gotten. It feels like the author found a formula which worked and now he doesn't wants to leave his comfort zone to try anything else. Instead of developing a coherent plot supporting the weird ness and quirky ness of the show , they just replace it with complete random ness and throwing anything anywhere. it felt fun in s1 because it was new and fresh but if you are not willing to develop on your solid foundation to create a muchmore interesting plot going forward then it's just going to feel like an episodic action comedy gag slop. The shock value of seeing weird things has faded away with time and this season wasn't even as bold as s1 with it's certain scenes to shock me. Alien or ghost attacks -> okarun will go full throttle , momo will use her hand powers , aira will use her pink hair ability (literally the same repetitive fighting style every battle) -> sad backstory of the ghost or alien to create sympathy and pretend like the show has some emotional profound-ness in it only to shift back to being the same quirky funny ahh show with balls & banana jokes -> A new character gets added to the team who will act weird because it's supposed to be funny -> end the season on a cheap cliffhanger everytime. This is all dandadan is , it barely leaves any mark on me. The only thing which hard carries it now is science saru and even their work didn't feel that creative to me compared to s1 which is not there fault either , because one can only push to a certain limit to keep the fading freshness of the show alive.
Dan Da Dan Season 2 is a worthy sequel that cements the series’ legacy with a solid continuation of what made Season 1 so fun. It picks up right where it left off and keeps that chaotic energy going strong. Starting with the production side of things, I honestly thought the previous season’s OP, Otonoke, would be impossible to top. To my surprise, this new OP comes impressively close and is easily one of the best this season. The ED also works really well and feels very fitting to the show. The animation is another clear step up, and the action scenes are amazing and exciting, with smooth, impressive choreography throughout. Looking at the season overall, I would say the episodes are more consistent than S1. Jiji’s arc was handled really well, giving the season a clear and engaging direction, and the balance of comedy and romance felt stronger this time around. Every episode felt polished and refined, which helped tie the season together and kept it engaging throughout. That being said, S1 still delivered some higher highs. The Acrobat/Silky backstory was a standout moment, and Otonoke remains one of the catchiest OPs in all of anime. It might not have the same unforgettable highs as S1, but S2 is definitely more consistent, and it delivers quality throughout. At the end of the day, this is absolutely a sequel worth watching. It did not disappoint in the slightest, and in many ways it exceeded expectations. This season proves the series still has plenty to offer, keeping the excitement and charm that made S1 so enjoyable.
In my review of the last season, i mentioned my concern that this series, despite its charming cast and potentially rich power system, lacked a clear trajectory and world-building moving forward. Unfortunately, this season only proves that point further. First off, introducing half a dozen, equally significant new characters is just excessive. After establishing a solid foundation with the dynamic duo of protagonists, they clearly didn’t know where else to go. So, they resorted to the classic industry fallback when a manga runs out of steam: more characters! The problem? They don’t know what to do with the old ones either. The roster keeps growing, but the substance keeps drying up. By the time all of them are on screen together, it's like a COD lobby where everyone is reduced to just spouting slurs and nonsense catchphrases. Worse still, the show doesn’t seem to know where it’s headed. Each episode introduces a new problem with zero connection to any larger plot, before the anime rushes into flashy action sequences simply because there’s no other payoff. It feels cheap, and it's basically the equivalent of the dreaded filler episodes in any past popular shounens, except this time, it's the entire season! The art in the manga is what carried, and Science Saru has atleast made an equal value exchange with the flashy sakuga. But if there's still no bigger arc or major antagonist, imma start calling these glorified skits, slice-of-life

I don't think I can make to the end without the god like story boards and animation, and they are definitely carrying the show. But I have to admit I have skipped some parts because the story in 2nd season is just so-so-so boring. The big mystery left in the end of 1st season turns out just another quick plot point, that also not as flash out as the speed grandma arc. And the rest of the stories are all over the place that I don't think will become plot points in the future. Again the story board is killing it, without it even withthe great animation I still think I would drop it before the half way mark. I never read the original material, but this 2nd season is really boring. I only gave it a 6 thanks to the great story board and animation. For those reason I don't recommend 2nd season.
Every now and then, while choosing which anime to watch at the beginning of each season, I sometimes stumble upon major disasters, sometimes great surprises. And since I avoid trailers and promotional material as much as possible, both feelings end up heightened exponentially. But there are times when I simply can't help but have high expectations for a new anime—a situation that happened with Dandadan at the end of last year (2024). After becoming my favorite anime of the year, Dandadan Season 2 carried the unenviable burden of reaching the same level as, or even exceeding, the expectations I had for its first season. However, asthe episodes progressed, the anime failed to engage me as much as I had hoped, presenting a series of visually interesting events, but weak narratively. In Dandadan Season 2, we continue to follow teenage couple Momo Ayase and Ken "Okarun" Takakura as they encounter a series of bizarre events involving aliens, ghosts, mythological monsters, and conspiracy theories that become reality. And now, with increasingly eccentric members joining the group—ranging from a vengeful spirit bent on destroying humanity to a weird nerd who can control megazords—the couple must learn to work together to achieve their ultimate goal: recovering Okarun's balls. As you can probably tell from its synopsis, Dandadan is one of those anime where you can't predict what will happen in the next episode. The number of possible scenarios, sparked by the simplest of events, is infinite. However, all this freedom creates a paradox for the author: while he can do anything, many of these situations may not make the slightest sense and are merely visually interesting. To paraphrase a very pertinent comment I heard from a friend that sums up my feelings perfectly: "Dandadan is wonderful because it manages to be both random and good, but sometimes it ends up just being random." At times, even in the first few episodes, I harbored the hope that, even if I wouldn't experience the creative explosion of the first season, I would still encounter good moments in both direction and narrative. But this didn't happen as I expected. Yes, I think episode 4 had one of the best anime musical scenes of all time, but otherwise, we had many boring, empty episodes that over-exaggerated the characters' situations. What really carried this season were the characters, as their interactions, especially with the new members of the group, were excellent and created very interesting situations. The way these situations were handled by the anime's production team is questionable, but at least they managed to keep the audience's attention focused on what was happening on screen. Regarding the production itself, there's not much to say, considering what was presented in the first season, at least in terms of the animation in general. However, at many points, the soundtrack felt strange, as if it didn't connect with what was happening on screen. I can't really explain it, except to say that I found the song selection and the scenes they were placed into odd—aside from what happened in episode 4, that was pure cinema. Because of these random, successive events, Dandadan suffers from a lack of narrative construction typical of this type of episodic story. Because so many elements interact constantly, the anime's production couldn't find a central event to serve as a climax to all the events. There's even a pseudo-climax in the final episode, but it honestly didn't mean anything emotionally, as there was no development leading up to it. Everything was introduced, developed, and resolved in the final episodes, making what happened before practically irrelevant to the season's finale. This also happened at the end of the previous season, but here we have something much more apparent. In short, Dandadan Season 2 is a show of randomness that at times surprises with its incredible creativity, but at others leaves us wondering what the hell is happening on screen, without any extra emotion. Unlike the first season, where successive interesting events made us want to watch the next episode, this time all that can keep us hooked until the end are the interactions between old and new characters. So, if you enjoy random scenes that mix everything imaginable with charismatic and funny characters, this anime could be a good choice for a weekend night watch.
I haven't read the manga, so I can't compare it to the original material, but I had a lot of fun watching this season. The characters continue to be very well developed, the plot has become denser, and we now have a much greater understanding of the world and its mysteries. Unlike the first season, the story is clearer and more cohesive this time around. The episodes are consistent and well-paced, with a great balance between emotion and humor. Jiji's arc was handled excellently, and the mix of comedy and romance is even stronger and more natural, making each episode exciting and engaging. The highlight, however, goesto the direction. Each episode is phenomenally constructed, with the pacing, tone shifts, and transitions handled with great skill. The series is a true work of visual and auditory art, full of energy and color. The way the anime plays with contrasts and deep shadows makes each scene even more striking, and the color palette perfectly reflects the mood of each moment, intensifying the emotions. Ultimately, this is an absolutely unmissable sequel. It expands on everything that made the first season great and delivers an even more refined and immersive experience. For me, it's a 10/10 without a doubt.
Compared to most of last season, this season was a huge letdown. Artwork was only so-so. Characters remained consistent but background work slid compared to season 1. Where much of season 1 had some impressive animation, it was apparent, especially as the season dragged on, that this season took way too many shortcuts. The last episode was so clunky looking it was about laughable, and not in a good way. Character designs and development were less than mid. They whipsaw Momo from bad-ass to L'il Miss Damsel in Distress in need of rescue. Okarun gets a chance to be a little more heroic, but isstill essentially the self-insert nerd. Jiji/Evil Eye destroyed the end of season 1; and continued to be nothing but fucking annoying...all...season...long. But far worse was the introduction of Kinta, who is a 10x lamer self-insert than Okarun. Aira got to show some bad-assery, which was nice. She gets the season's best animation. Seiko and Turbo Granny were well presented, but they pretty much dried up and blew away about halfway through the season. The narrative has always been chaotic, but at least there were some interesting premises. This season started back off with the Jiji/Evil Eye nonsense. I figured they would wrap that shit up in an ep or two, but no. It dragged out...all...season...long. While the plot has always been way out in left field, this season took it all the way back to the warning track. So much that was little more than incoherent nonsense. It kept getting worse by the week. Evil Eye reigned in by treating it like a child? That blew hot and cold. The mantis alien stuff was goofy. Love triangle between Momo, Okarun, and Aira? C'mon, IRL neither of these chicks would even look at this dweeb. Useless, fat 4 eyed character shows up because, why not? The Michelin Man and Godzilla have an illicit love child, which of course has to come and destroy all of Japan. Momo's house turns into BuddhaGundam? ARRRGGGGHHHHHH! But the absolute peak of the ridiculous writing was the introduction of yet another chick who immediately falls for Okarun, and starts swapping spit with him. So now we have the quadrangle love entanglement. Where does this doofus punk come off having a harem of hotties???? Does he have a 25cm cock with golden balls? Only in some otaku's or mangaka's wildest wet dreams. My Helmet of Disbelief literally exploded off my head. It was so ludicrous and juvenile. The VA work was OK for the most part, although I thought there was a lot more overacting overall, especially from Kinta's actor. The direction was much more sketchy compared to season 1. Way too many questionable decisions made in how this season was presented. Sorry to say it, but Dandadan has become Dumdeedumdum. It's not much better than mid now, and I couldn't grade it any higher than 64/100 for a less than impressive D. I can't in good conscious recommend this season, at all.

My initial feelings for Dandadan remains unchanged - jack-of-all-trades, an enjoyable ride to an unknown destination and a truly mid-ing series. Watching season 2 felt like a meet up with an acquaintance; an enjoyable time, yet, nothing to write home about. Having said that, I do enjoy some of the character developments, the new characters and the romantic developments this season. Characters are quirky and likable as always. Animation and fight scenes are still pretty stellar. Regardless, I do not find myself anticipating or religiously watching each episode upon release each week. Overall, not life changing but definitely not a bad watch if you’re out ofseries.
Hands down one of the best shows this season, as expected. It was fun, unpredictable and explosive experience. Animation and music - very good. OP was not as good as S1 but it was solid. The animation was great, giving that every few episodes we had new fighting arenas the animation team really gave it its all. Music was quite standard, but it was nice to hear fighting game like music for change instead of standard epic chorus. Shutout to episode with the musicians where they went hard on classics. Overall - animation and music were both enjoyable. Characters - Ayase and Okarun didn't make much of aprogress this time, the love struggle continue this season as well. Despite best efforts from everyone to move them forward. But in terms of fighting Okarun is slowly starting to work on himself and the results are showing. They have also got few new friends joining their gang. Jin and Aira return from the previous season and are as fun as always, and both of them can help the main due in their perilous journey. Kinta is also a new addition, appearing in the last parts of the season. But despite being only 3 episodes in he left a mark as a fun new addition. Overall - the main characters are great and all the returning ones are fun to watch as well. Story - just like with S1, the story is really all over the place. Which is exactly what makes this anime a true gem. You never know what will happen next and that fact alone is keeping you interested in the show. The main goal is still finding one of Okarun's lost treasures, but that is put aside due to sheer content that is happening from sides. Story is also leaving us on the cliffhanger again due to new character being introduced in the last minute of the show. Overall - story is as unpredictable and fun as it was in S1. If you loved that one you will enjoy this one as well. Overall score - 10. Truly deserved. There is nothing more to add. If you enjoyed Takopi for drama, Sakamoto days for shonen then you will enjoy Dandadan for comedy, fights and unexpected twists left and right. I recommend this show to anyone who also enjoyed S1. And I will check S2 for sure.
This time, ive read the manga, and I can say they adapted the manga really well. The story, just like season 1, filled with randomness that amusingly still clicked and makes the story super intriguing. The evil eye arc also adapted well and showing yet another sad yokai's backstory. Production still well made, kudos to science saru! The anime is well directed, really good sound effects on evil eye arc, fascinating fighting choreography on evil eye and okarun training arc, and of course well fitting scoring by kensuke ushio. For me, they able to keep on the quality from first season and i see no bigdowngrade. Definitely looking forward for third season (cus it has the best arc)
Season 1 of Dandadan was already a blast—exciting, unpredictable, and full of energy. So I had high hopes for Season 2, and guess what? It did not disappoint. Just like the first season, the creators aren’t afraid to shake things up. They keep introducing fresh ideas and playful twists—not just your typical anime tropes, but creative elements that actually work. The humor lands, the supernatural chaos is fun, and the story keeps moving. There’s just the right touch of romance—sweet, subtle, and never forced. The friendships feel real and dynamic, and the character interactions are consistently engaging. No one feels like filler; every character brings something tothe table. The animation? Still top-tier. Visually stunning and full of personality. Overall, Season 2 is entertaining from start to finish. I’m already counting down to Season 3.
It was alright. Not sure if the honeymoon phase I got from watching season 1 wore off or not, but season 2 was noticeably more "stupid" and in a sense... boring? Many times throughout I found myself pausing mid episode and "finishing it later" because either I wasn't in the mood or whatever was happening at the moment just didn't hold my attention. Season 1 has much of the same ridiculous & over the top moments as season 2, but season 2 kind of makes you realize that this kind of entertainment or theme spoils quick. We get some character development sprinkled throughout anda detrimental addition to the cast. More action scenes of course, but I would say that few of them left that big of an impression on me. If you liked season 1 and want more from the show... you will either go through the same experience I did or get more out of the franchise/show. I am still invested in for a season 3, but with much less anticipation.
DanDaDan proved this season that their success was no mere one-and-done phenomenon. In an age when seemingly every series falls off following its first season, DanDaDan instead dramatically improved upon their already successful formula. As someone who loved the first season, but thought it was just a hair away from being a true masterpiece, (nearly) all of my concerns were addressed this season. The plot dramatically opened up in terms of scope. The first season's plot was introductory. We got to see our two main leads and explore their relationship a bit, but most of the run-time was spent getting us acclimated to the absolutelybat-shit insane concept. This season, however, we moved past formalities and really ran with the craziness. Many new and interesting characters were introduced, and others were fleshed out even further. We got to see at least two or three significant threats that took more than a single episode to defeat, raising the stakes and really contextualizing the strength of Okarun and Momo's powers. The score was great as always, and the music was next level! There's one scene that I'm sure you're already aware of and yes, it is even better in context than it is just as a music video. The animation is the only mixed bag, but I'll make the argument in favor of it. Let me be clear: the animation is still infinitely better than the average show. However, many have raised issues with some small aspects of it that feel like shortcuts. One element in particular is the background animation, which feels somewhat stale at times. I'll admit, even I brought it up as a concern earlier on in the season. However, after watching the full season, I've realized what's going on. The studio really went out of its way to experiment with gritty movement animation this season. There's a lot of scenes, and I mean a LOT, where we see a first-person perspective with a lot of grittiness and motion blur, as if we're actually living it out in real time. This really emphasizes not only the pace of the action, but really emphasizes the effects it had on our main characters. In this, I think the background art is supposed to offer some contrast in order to really dramatize the action. Now, this might be a bit of a stretch on my end, or just outright cope, but considering how much they nailed literally every other element of this season, I've gotta give them the benefit of the doubt here. The best way I can sum up the animation this season is refreshing and experimental: ScienceSARU really went out of their way to test new camera angles, visual effects, etc. and I think we got a better show for it. I'm wagering that there are very few people who watched Season 1 but are on the fence about watching Season 2, but I'll offer my advice regardless: just watch this. It's well worth it!
A punch of flavours This sh!t has everything aliens , kaiju , yokai , superpowers , teen romance , comedy etc. I'll consider this an all-rounder anime, every aspect of this anime is on point like animation, character development, humour, everything. I personally think that this anime stands out because of its unique blend of action, comedy, and supernatural elements. The way it connects the concepts of ghosts and aliens makes it truly different from other shows, giving it a fresh and original vibe. That's the main reason it's receiving so much love and appreciation from the audience. Some people may find sub plots weird but this whatthat makes dandadan op and best among bests . Season 3 is already confirmed till then cya bai bai .
A better season than the first, but one that still makes the same mistakes. The second season of Dandadan arrived to polish and improve the aspects that were already working while choosing to leave the negative aspects unfixed. Let's start with the positive side, and I think it lies in the aspect more related to the boys' daily lives. Themes like romance, friendship, and living together at home are the best moments of the anime. The fact that the cast has expanded lends a certain level of liveliness to the places where the story is set. The romance between Okarun and Momo is the most entertainingand interesting part of the entire story. This is mainly due to the scarcity of these moments. As always, the story rushes from one side to the other; when it stops to give mushy moments, it's when you can also stop and breathe. The romance doesn't have much room for drama because it's not the main theme of the show, so we have a romantic story with a really nice rhythm. The animation still seems to me to be of good quality, with fast and fluid movements in the action portion and bright and beautiful scenery in the sections centered on the main couple. The mid-season song section is worth highlighting, which for me is one of the anime's highlights. The entire presentation was a success. There are certainly many moments to highlight within the series. Just as the good has improved, the bad hasn't. First, it has a sloppy start if you watched it weekly, as it was in my case. It starts abruptly as if there had been an episode the week before, providing no context or recap to help us know where we left off in the story. The same goes for the ending. The story failed to wrap things up and again makes the mistake of leaving the ending too open, making it seem like we'll have a new episode next week. Although a third season has already been confirmed, it won't arrive quickly enough for this ending to remain fresh in the collective memory. In this second season, the monochrome filters continue to be a problem, and I'd even say they're worse than in the first season. If you're photosensitive, I warn you to be careful about what you watch because the color changes in some fights are quite shocking. If you wear glasses, I also recommend watching the anime with them, because some scenes become very dark because you don't have any lighting points to help you appreciate what's happening on screen, and you can only see a dark filter on a nighttime background. Whether you like it or not, you end up straining your eyesight to see what's really happening. The script, on the other hand, is inconsistent. They spent 7-8 chapters building up the Evil Eye arc only to give it a minute and a half resolution. All the time we spent getting to know and understand this Yokai, plus the training to defeat it, isn't equivalent to the time it took to defeat it. In the end, you're left with a bittersweet taste, saying, "So? That's it?" The timing is poorly implemented, and it always feels like everything falls out of place. Dandadan is a good product, but with obvious flaws. It's not as good as its fans claim, but it's not as bad as its haters make it out to be.
This was a good season overall, but I think season 1 is slightly better. I almost felt this season lacked something that season 1 had. It's still got all that wacky fun and absurd plot, but idk, I just didn't enjoy it as much :/ Animation was good, great even over all episodes as always. Science Saru does such a great job with this series. Really bringing the manga to life. So no complaints on that end. Plot wise, it was still good. Still has all that wacky charm that season 1 had but maybe because I read the manga, the first half of thisseason was technically "spoiled" for me (that's my own fault so tbh it's no fault of the series), and I feel that kind of dampened my excitement for this. Either way, it's still good so it's fine. just my own personal problem :p cant wait for s3!

Dandandan Season 2 It's over, This show is good but not the best, the eye-pleasing fight animation is very good, the graphics are quite good but it's too red.For the story to be interesting, there are aliens, robots, spiritual powers. I don't like the romance in this anime, so I hope that this aspect will be reduced in the next season. This anime has a big fan base which is good but please don't look down on other anime, that's what I don't like about this anime.Season 3 has been announced, I can't wait for it. To be fair the score is 7/10 for now,it could change if it gets good in the upcoming season 3.
