Toto has been dreaming about adventuring with other people for as long as he can remember. Despite his hero title, he still remains without allies due to his timid personality. Therefore, when three women: Ciel, Anemone, and Goa suddenly request to join him, Toto is overjoyed. Unbeknownst to him, they are all assassins assigned to eliminate him! While Toto resolves to protect his would-be killers, the women fight over who can finish off the hero. As Toto remains oblivious of his new party members' true intentions and finds himself passing out every time he gets flustered, the four of them embark on their peculiar adventure into the greater world. Overpowered main character + busty anime girls (and a loli) + a fun and simple premise + great animation. What does that equal? A low score. What a shocker... Get a grip people, this show is great. The main character isn't perfect, regardless of stereotypes. Physically, he is definitely overpowered; but it's heartwarming to see his innocence and strive for growth on the mental side. The same goes for all three of the girls, as they all have their own reasons for being who they are. For such an underrated anime, the animation is incredibly well done. No CGI, not much stiff frames, just a purework of art that you can tell the studio put a lot of effort into. The comedy is well-timed (bonus for me, I love anything can makes me laugh), and the fan service is, um...very entertaining. (yeah, I liked it. Sue me). A great anime for fantasy lovers, so give it a watch.
Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime: This is supposed to be trash, right? (Part 1, Summer 2025 Edition) Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime (The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses) is an anime with a silly premise that was no different from the other pathetic male leads but somehow intriguing to me. The story follows an overpowered, Bocchi-coded introverted hero named Toto, who struggles to find a party group due to his extreme shyness and only acts cool in his imagination. Fortunately, it did not last long because three princesses requested Toto to join their hero party: a daughter of the demon king, a professional assassin, anda dominatrix, all aiming for The Shy Hero's head. The poster’s character designs looked appealing, and the in-anime versions thankfully lived up to them. The animations were not in those S-tier action shounen blockbusters, but they were still in the decent category. In fact, there were some sakuga cuts that exceeded my expectations. The story was simple and predictable just by looking at the title; however, it was enjoyable at the same time. The fainting jokes and the princesses arguing with each other were never not funny at all. The anime surprisingly had some wholesome moments that I genuinely love. Minor spoiler alert: Unpopular opinion, but Toto's introduction as an introverted, anti-social boy was totally brilliant. He literally asked the most generic question THREE TIMES to all girls when being alone together with zero topics: "Where are the other girls?" That's THE introverted MC. Props to the author Yukiji Setsuda for actually writing that. In conclusion, this anime is dumb, and I loved it. It's either extremely funny that you could lose your laugh box or stupidly unfunny that you will get a migraine (+ Mood: Awful). Watch it.
"Literally one of the best summer show in terms of senseless humor and comedy " Usually people ignore these kind of tropes or they don't even start it , straight up judging from poster or asking for reviews from others . Glad i found this amazing sh!t , enjoyed to the fullest just like watching grand blue fanatsy version . The most amazing thing i liked are visuals and eye catching art style , no cgi monsters , no weird background just pure 2d work . The op is a banger too literally too much underrated , people need to listen it (https://youtu.be/KwokenvxcbM?si=HwrZMBpJ0Aen8Gn0). The other thing i likedcharacter development , every character tried to evolve in a better self . Looking forward for a promising 2nd season .

This anime works well. Somewhat. The plot hook of the "all the female characters are actually assassins trying to kill the MC", offering a slightly new twist to the usual fantasy plus OP hero plus harem formula, could've quickly become stale and boring or degenerate into the girls forgetting their motivations and engage in the usual fawning competition for the MC, which is what I had expected, but is actually well-executed. More importantly, the show allows for a few moments of heartfelt character development, demonstrating that the authors cared at least enough to produce a somewhat entertaining anime. Now, as for the MC, at first I thoughtthe continuous fainting every time the girls did something "ecchi" would've become boring before long, but it has its value, and the show uses it smartly and with purpose. It's actually what makes it possible for the other characters to do their thing. Also, our hero does find ways to avoid fainting, so you don't get irritating scenes with the MC being useless when needed the most. The girls are nice, and they have somewhat interesting backstories and motivations that make them more than walking tropes, but their designs are nothing impressive. Anemone is a rip-off from Black Lagoon, and Ciel, the white-haired loli demon, is just a generic white-haired loli demon. Goa, on the other hand, truly stands out, both in her design, motivations, and character depth and development, although Ciel also has a couple of moments. As for the rest of the cast, well, there are no other relevant characters, besides maybe one villain who manages to last a little longer. Consequently, the world of the show feels inevitably empty and flat. Indeed, the worldbuilding itself is just the Nth RPG-fantasy knockoff, with dungeons, monsters, adventurers, a Demon Lord, etc., and the MC one-punches through most obstacles with little to no effort, his own party members being the biggest threat. Overall, unfortunately, the show still doesn't manage to scrape past the 6.5/7. The thing is, it does the bare minimum to raise a little bit above the usual fantasy slop, but not enough to find its place next to genuinely compelling anime from the past season like Silent Witch or Water Magician. The production value is mid, the art is okay, the idea is decent, but on top of the issues I already pointed out, such a gimmick can only be milked so much, and if we ever see a second season, which I highly doubt, there's a good chance the show will implode on its own premises.
I must say this was an EXTREMELY fun series from start to finish with some AMAZING character development. Most comedy anime are pretty similar and that's not a bad thing because it works in the element of the story 9 times out of 10. This particular anime does really well at being comedic with the OP MC who Faints around women, and the seriousness of each characters struggle with their own problems in life. I am a sucker for some good character development at the end of the day and not only did I get that BUT I also got a hilarious comedy plot withit as well! If you are looking for a fun anime with some surprising character development thrown into the mix then I DEF recommend The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses. I SOO hope we get a S2!
This anime was honestly a really fun ride. I enjoyed the idea behind it, and it felt different enough to keep me curious. The characters are likable, and their interactions make the story easy to get into. The pacing was smooth – not too slow, not too rushed – so it never felt boring. The sound and music were nice and added to the atmosphere, even if they weren’t the most memorable part of the show. What stood out more for me was how the mix of action and lighthearted moments kept things entertaining. Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy with a fun castand a story that’s easy to watch. It might not be groundbreaking, but it’s definitely enjoyable, and I’m already looking forward to the next season.
Absolutely! "Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime" (The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses) is an anime that, at first, may seem like just another generic harem comedy, but it surprises with its development and characters. The premise is simple and hilarious: the protagonist, Toto, is an incredibly powerful hero, but with a major problem: he has a phobia of women and faints at the slightest contact. Because of this, he's trapped in the initial town, unable to form a party. This is where the three "heroines" come in: Ciel: The Demon King's princess, sent to eliminate him. Anemone: An undercover assassin, hired to kill him for money. Goa: A "dominatrix"who, instead of killing him, wants to turn him into her pet. Despite its initial intentions, what unfolds isn't just a series of failed assassination attempts. Their forced coexistence allows them, and even Toto, to experience personal growth. Strengths Genuine Comedy: The dynamic between the shy, super-powered hero and the three mortal girls is a source of much humor. The fact that Toto is so strong that his "weaknesses" become his secret weapon, as when he destroys a monster with a panicked scream, is a well-explored comedic element. Character Development: The anime goes beyond clichés and explores the pasts and motivations of each of the girls. The series shows that the three are not one-dimensional villains, but rather characters with their own insecurities and traumas. The friendship that develops between them, even as they try to fulfill their missions, is one of the story's strongest points. Underlying Themes: Despite its comedic tone, the story addresses themes such as the coexistence of humans and demons, the value of friendship, and overcoming trauma. It's interesting to see how the anime subverts the traditional roles of "heroes" and "villains" and suggests that reality is much more complex. Points to Consider Inconsistent Pacing: At times, the focus on harem comedy and Toto's fainting spells can feel a bit repetitive. However, as the plot delves deeper into character development, the pacing improves significantly. Ending: The anime's ending may leave some loose ends, but the final scene, where the characters wonder whether they should continue their adventure, suggests that a second season is possible, which would be great news for fans. Final Verdict Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime is an anime worth checking out if you're looking for a harem comedy that goes beyond the clichés. The series stands out for its approach to character development and the way comedy blends with more serious and reflective moments. It's a story that will make you laugh at the absurd situations, but also make you care about the characters' fates and friendships. If you're a fan of fantasy and comedy anime, give this one a try. You might be surprised.
Women Can't Resist Shy Muscle Men The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses Is a about how drugs, guns and Magic just, isn't enough to kill the shy beefcake. The humour never got old for me, him constantly fading from the girl sexuality or cuteness. The girls taunting and provoking each other, and slowly becoming friends, it so funny. The characters has some depth, That is interesting to get explored and trauma. It's just way better than you would expect from the title, it actually a good show. The character design is good and look distinct, and if you are a man that enjoy big breast then youare not going hungry tonight. the main characters is wholesome, and so enjoyable to watch, his interaction with the girls is just precious. Good character development and many laughs, would recommend
I must admit I am disappointed. This work seems to lack a clear direction. It fails to decide whether it wants to be comedic or dramatic, resulting in an inconsistent tone. The biggest issue lies in the superficial development of the characters, who constantly return to the status quo after any change in opinion. The irony is making this the central joke of the manga, with the assassins always reverting to their goal of eliminating him. Although it is tempting to speculate that the protagonist is already aware of the situation, it is difficult to confirm with certainty. In reality, the narrative seems to primarily use himas a catalyst for the growth of the three girls, setting itself up more as a story about the trio of assassins developing a friendship through a 'common goal.' The protagonist is interesting in his own right, but he barely interacts. The author appears to be intentionally withholding any direct development concerning him for a later point in the story, which makes the reading quite frustrating at the moment.
'The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses' is quite the guilty pleasure. It's a visual feast as far as one's lust goes, but sadly, the story leaves a lot to be desired. § Overview Toto the hero dreams of numerous adventures. The problem is that he is too shy to form a party. One day, three beautiful women approached him to form a party. These beautiful princesses are actually assassins. Ciel Zebul is the daughter of the current demon lord. Anemone is an assassin for hire. Goa is a seductress, specialising in poisons. Their mission is to kill Toto. Each woman competes with the other to see who willkill him first...or perhaps something else. § Studio and Staff Its studio, Connect, is a subsidiary of Silver Link. It used to be a separate entity, but since 2020, it has been absorbed by Silver Link. Its identity as Connect is used whenever Connect staff is making an anime for Silver Link. Regardless, 'The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses' is the first anime from this studio I've seen. ⚫ The director, Akitaya Noriaki, is also the director of the first season of 'Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon.' I wasn't impressed by his two works. ⚫ I checked the differences between the character designs in the manga made by Setsuda Yukiji, and the character designs in the anime, which was made by character designer Sano Takao. Both have similar character designs. It's just that it seems they made the hero, Toto, more buff, reflecting how flat he is as a character compared to the manga's design of being a decently handsome guy with a lean physique. He is the stereotypical muscle-bound character who barely uses his brain. Regardless, they have decent character designs. § Everything Else 1. I like how sexy the ladies are. Their sexiness, save for the loli Ciel, reminds me of the Misu sisters from 'Bakuretsu Hunters.' Since the hero, Toto, is a flat but overpowered character, this anime reminds me of Tenchi Muyou. In both anime, the protagonists are flat but overpowered characters. Both protagonists are not interesting by themselves. The attraction is the ladies. These assassin princesses start the anime wanting to kill him. Instead, they end up falling for him, which is expected of harem anime. 2. Contrary to stereotypes, these ladies have depth, if we consider their backstories as well as their motivations. That's why they are compelling as characters. 3. Sadly, the story leaves a lot to be desired. It has no overarching purpose to speak of. It seems you only watch this anime for the jokes and the sexy ladies rather than anything substantial. 4. In fairness, the assassin princesses grow as characters, meaning it is implicitly acknowledged that they want to be part of his party despite being explicit that they haven't abandoned their goal of killing him. The degree to which you like these ladies is the degree to which you can tolerate the lack of story. § Conclusion This is quite a guilty pleasure. I love these sexy ladies. I just can't help but have mixed feelings due to how lacking the story is. NOTA BENE: A grade of 4 out of 10 means I got some enjoyment out of this anime, but the issues are glaring, or simply I rank it higher than my 3's but below my 5's. My enjoyment spectrum lies from 4 to 10. If I have scored an anime below 4, I actively dislike it.
Well, a bit unloved. I'm not going to say that this is a hidden gem, but it does have more than it meets the eye. First, MC and story. The story is about an OP guy with almost none social skill but with a good heart. Not much else to say after S1, he offers what our broken girls need, kindness. Has a sad past. His goal is to gain confidence, he want to do it by becoming an adventurer and killing the demon lord. 2 FMC Mone and Ciel wants to kill him, and the third, Goa wants to make him her pet. Now, theFMCs: Mone, a rough mercenary with a bad past, a rude and violent tsundere (it doesn't applies to our mc luckly) with good heart. Goa, a sadistic and slutty girl that acts cute in front of everyone, also has a bad past. Ciel, the kid that tries to act mature but constantly fails, also bad past. The romance is kinda there, but really far back, not the main point so far. The main point of the story is about fixing the waifus, and we see how our MC and between the girls, they help each other to do it. The story isn't going to blow your mind, but the underrated part of the story is the interactions between the girls, it feels organic and how they slowly change makes it enjoyable. So, this is just an adventure with a hint of romance and 3 quirks that are it's main selling. The waifus trying to kill the MC, our inept yet OP MC and the interactions between the girls every time our MC isn't on screen. Pretty easy to watch unless you hate waifus with big Ts, thing that is becoming pretty common nowadays.
I am pleasantly surprised. With a gimmick like this, it tends to be very boring at the end. Heck, it should be boring in the second episode, but they surprised me. How did I find this? I actually want to watch anything. ANYTHING that came from Muse Asia. I've said it in my DanDaDan review that they purposely delayed 2 anime in their hand and released this. So, I was like, "You know what? Fine, I'll humor you", and watched the show. Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) My intention is clear. I just want to watch something from Muse Asia, but to be honest, before even watchingit, I kind of like the art style a bit. They look very different from the rest of the anime airing in this season. Platform Muse Asia, Animax Korea, Bahamut Taiwan, Catchplay, Crunchyroll, and MeWatch Singapore. The review; Plot/Story 1 OP hero, and 3 women trying to kill him, going on an adventure. That is the whole plot of this anime. Hear me out here. That is a bullshit premise. Let me give you the real premise. 1 OP hero, 1 demon loli princess trying to enjoy life outside her castle, 1 REAL assassin that is actually very nice and kind toward everyone, and 1 sadistic woman who wants a strong man to be her pet, going on a journey that changes their lives. But more toward the girls! I gave you this real premise because, at first glance, that first premise felt like a mislead. Once you watch the whole thing, it's mostly wholesome and humorous. . Though I have to point out that the story leaned sooooo much toward Ciel, the demon loli princess, life's. I get it, though; she is the demon lord's daughter, and the main goal of the journey is to kill her dad. Of course, she is going to get a big spotlight in the anime, but that doesn't mean Goa, the sadist woman, and Anemone, the real assassin, have to be away from some spotlight. They are as important as the Ciel. Now, I know the two have their spotlight in some episodes, but the whole series felt like Ciel's story, NGL. Character Get this, guys! I haven't said anything about the hero being too timid. Seriously, the gimmick was that every time he got embarrassed, whenever the girls teased him, he would faint. That joke got repeated a lot and feels so dry so quickly. But that's the thing! I feel like you have to get bored with the hero. Same as Saitama from OPM. He has never been the center of attention, even in his anime. What you are watching here is the girls trying to be a better self. When you get bored with the gimmick, eventually you find yourself focusing on the girls' stories. Bonus point at the end, eventually, you're also going to care about Toto, the hero. . Trust me, the gimmick is so boring, but when you can bear it, you're actually eating a decent meal. OST/SFX OP is ehm... Something. 😂 I'm just going to say one thing... Dangdut. Have you heard about that music genre? It's popular here in Indonesia, and that opening song sounded so much like. It's very easy to get into the song and dance alongside it. ED sounded very good, too. Very chill, actually. And the OST in the anime itself is also great. Two Thumbs Up! Animation It's not too bad, and it's not too good either. It's decent and it's very much watchable. Now, it's been a decade since I watched something from the Connect animation studio. In fact, the only anime I've watched from this studio was Strike the Blood. Based on that anime and this anime, their animation is still the same. I remember vividly that they did great with the action on StB, and they also did great on this project, which is very awesome to hear and see. VA Don't have a lot to say, so Two Thumbs Up! The conclusion; The good I'm glad I stuck around until the end. That ending was something that I would never forget. Love the Goa's arc. The bad I want to watch season 2. I don't want to read it. I'm not joking. Please make that happen! Graditude Thanks, Muse Asia, for providing this anime for free to watch on YouTube. I appreciate the effort, even though you guys messed up the other two anime's schedules. Overall 7.7/10 Good show. Not really bad. It's a decent watch. I want to recommend this if anyone is interested.

This anime left me conflicted — it’s both good and bad at the same time. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted fantasy where you can turn off your brain and relax, but I can’t give it more than a 6/10. The premise sounds amusing and had great potential to be genuinely funny, but unfortunately the show didn’t commit to that direction. Worse, the initial setup was a mess — full of nonsense that even “turning your brain off” can’t prevent you from getting annoyed. There were endless ways to explain the premise, but it felt like the creators either rushed it or weretoo lazy to think of something. That said, while the anime started off as a 5/10 experience, it slowly improved, and the second half is closer to a 7/10. The humor never fully landed, but the character development of the four main characters — especially the Hero — was surprisingly well done. Oddly enough, I actually find myself hoping for a second season.
The story is about an OP shy hero with 3 assassins as the name suggests. This might throw you off feeling it is just a junk anime. But the humor and depth of characters and the metaphors for the human emotions shown by the characters are superb. Story - They take a normal plot and use the assassin element along with hyperboles to develop a story that is fun, heart warming and has some thought provoking ideas about human emotions. The hyperboles get repetitive sometimes and the overall plot progress is slow despite each episode being fun. Animation - The animation is decent and makes it a fun watch. The showis entertaining. It has a some harem element which might make it not fun for people who do not like that genre. But if you ignore that, there is a warm slice of life adventure story hidden beneath.

Personal stats: as of Sep 2025, I have completed 191 anime with a mean score of 7.33. The Shy Hero score: 7/10. This anime is such an underrated gem! I think a lot of people sleep on it because the premise and the first couple of episodes make it seem like a silly, generic series where the MC is just surrounded by quirky girls. But if you stick with it, you’ll see it’s much more than it first appears. As the story progresses, the comedy stays, but the plot becomes deeper and more meaningful. It isn’t just about goofy assassination attempts or girls fawning over the MC -it’s really about the relationships between people. More importantly, it’s about people who seem completely different on the surface, but are all broken in their own ways and searching for acceptance. That’s what makes them relatable. Everyone is fighting their own battles and chasing their own dreams, and in that sense, we’re not so different after all. I’m not spoiling anything by saying that -it’s a detail you only really start to feel as the episodes go on. For anyone who dismissed this as a throwaway, silly show: give it a chance. I truly hope it gets a second season, because it deserves one. The low ratings don’t reflect its heart; they just show that most people never looked past the surface.
