Wow. I tried watching this anime, and couldn't finish episode one. The plot horrible. Imagine an 80's porno in slow motion. Beyond that, the art was horrible. I absolutely do not recommend wasting your time on this.
Truly this is an outstanding slice of entertainment. Animation at it's best. 10/10. This is quality. Fun for the whole family. Worth 54 minutes of my life.
Wow. It took me a grand total of three minutes to hate this show. I’m not exaggerating in the least. I had to practically pull my hair out in order to force myself to watch all of it. The seme is a stalker, the uke is an idiot, the plot is horrible, and everything is delightfully cliché (please note the sarcasm). The music sounds like something off of a porno. The art is bland, and the characters look like blocks. Even the fan service sucks, if you can call it that...There is nothing sexy about it at all. Nothing. Don't believe me? Watch the first fiveminutes. If you like putting yourself through hell, that is. Unless you want to see for yourself how awful this anime is, don't bother watching this. It's not even good if you like mindless smut, because there is none. It's just mindless. I hate this show...argh, I hate it even more than Level C, and I never thought I would say that. Ever.
Are you looking for one of the worst anime series ever created? Well add this to your list of contenders because Houkago no Shokuinshitsu is one of the worst things I have ever seen. Story (3/10) The Story is awful, boring, makes no sense and very bland. Its completely predictable and yet it leave you still in shock at how awful it really is. Art (1/10) The art is so ugly that it is distracting. There are scene where the characters are supposed to look "sexy" but you just end up laughing at their tiny heads and their giant shoulders and long spaghetti noodle legs. Its like they weretrying to make these characters look awful. Character (3/10) The characters are very predictable. No character development at all. Enjoyment (10/10) I was laughing at every second nearly of this. It was so bad that I had to send it to my friends and they laughed at it too. Houkago no Shokuinshitsu has brought temporary joy to my and my friends' lives. Overall (3/10) Unless you are actually looking for a bad anime, don't watch this. Only watch it for the laughs because that is really all it is good for.
I'm so glad they stopped after 2 episodes! Its like they cut and pasted pictures from the manga, slapped on some color and some cheesy music, terrible voice-overs, and called it an anime. Very Windows Movie Maker-esque. Do yourself a favor, and stick to the manga!
This OVA is just bad. Nothing to really say--it's just bad. The only reason I watched it was so me and my friend could laugh at how horrible the art was and that we had no clue what was going on. I have made animations better than this. The second OVA wasn't /as/ bad, but it was still, well, bad. I only recommend this if you want to see something hilariously horrible.
This isn't the best anime out there but trust my word when I say that I've seen worse. Story: Ok so, the story is pretty basic. Two male teachers falling in love with each other... One of them thinking it's a one sided love and the other one is the popular guy. I'd say there's not much originality but if it was executed a little better, then maybe it might of been watchable. Art: Just awful. The characters' bodies completely lack of proportion and they just look weird. Other than that, there's not much going on in the background. It seems like the budget forthis anime was really low. Sound: It's the same music repeating itself in a loop.Makes you want to mute the whole thing. Enjoyment: I laughed most of the time. So I rated it 4-Decent because it was somewhat enjoyable but not in the way it should've been. Overall: It's a nice yaoi but definitely not something I would watch again. Note: I've seen this anime about 5 years ago and I'm writing this review based on my other review in my personal blog which was written during that time.
It is rare (very rare) that I'll read reviews for an anime before jumping in head first. However with Houkago no Shokuinshitsu I had somehow stumbled upon the reviews first. In the back of my mind I thought, "no...no it can't be THAT terrible...right?" Hoo boy I was wrong. This anime makes me wonder why or how this was created. It looks like it was animated by 5 year olds with MS paint. Also YAOI HANDS YAY. No. I've seen some bad anime, believe me, but this one takes the trash cake title of being the worst anime I've ever laid eyes on. And Ido not say that lightly. If you want to waste an hour of your life, don't waste it on this, waste it on some higher grade trash like Vampire Holmes or Diabolik Lovers. Because, while they may still be trash, at least it's somewhat better trash.
Have you ever purposely watched a bad anime just so you could make fun of how bad it was? Well, it's easy to do that for anime that have disproportioned character designs, among other things. When I first found out about a certain OVA series, the first thing I noticed was not that it was a yaoi anime, but how ugly the character designs are. The next thing I noticed was the amount of negative reviews there were for said OVA series; despite the fact that I've never considered myself a fujoshi (I've only seen two yaoi anime, and both were actually shounen-ai), I knew,at this moment, I had to watch it. After watching both episodes, there is only one thing I can say for sure. The best thing about "Houkago no Shokuinshitsu", or "After School in the Teacher's Lounge", was the commentary I made as I watched it; everything else is absolute garbage. Houkago no Shokuinshitsu follows the relationship between Mitsuro Kawase and Toshiaki Kazama, two school teachers. Kazama is constantly making advances on Mitsuro, even going as far as asking him out on his birthday. Mitsuro does say yes, but he wasn't serious; however, as time goes on, it seems as though Mitsuro is starting to fall in love with Kazama, yet I don't even know because the two of them don't even seem to have a lot of chemistry. Add in a brother who gives off serious incestuous vibes, a b***h, and Kazama almost doing a certain something that starts with an r to a random guy as a joke (I don't even care if that's a spoiler, to be honest), and what does it equal? The perfect anime to make fun of! In a way, I feel bad for doing so, because there are probably a lot of people who worked hard on this anime, as well as a manga artist who thought this kind of scenario was a good idea for a yaoi manga. However, that doesn't excuse the many problems there are, and those problems, of course, begin with the artwork. I can give the animation a slight pass, as this anime was made in the '90's, and based off of the few '90's anime I've seen, I can conclude that no '90's anime has the best animation. The glaring issue with the art is how disgusting the character designs are, from the ant-sized heads to the Daddy Long Legs. I guess I can excuse the huge hands, as I'm aware that they're typical of yaoi anime/manga, but they don't justify the rest of the anatomy of each character. The character designs don't hold a candle to the characters themselves, however. Kazama, disproportionate body aside, is definitely the creepiest character in the anime, always insisting that he follows Mitsuro EVERYWHERE; he isn't even faithful to him, as he does perverted things to two other people in JUST THE FIRST EPISODE. As for Mitsuro himself, I don't understand what it is that made Kazama fall for him (heck, even when asked, he says himself that he can't explain); he's way too bland for words, and he doesn't even have good chemistry with Kazama! The rest of the characters are either really irritating, like Miho (the b***h I mentioned earlier who wants to marry Kazama), or completely forgettable, like the students at the school Mitsuro and Kazama teach at. Speaking of which, does the fact that they're both teachers have little to no relevance to the plot, or is the awfulness of the characters just that distracting? I'm not even sure. Now, let's talk about the smaller issues of this OVA, even if those issues aren't even that small. The character development - or lack thereof - hurts the overall run-of-the-mill story, making it increasingly difficult to sympathize with any of the characters. Despite the fact that I have watched very few yaoi anime up until now, I can tell when it's executed in a realistic way, and especially pointing out the fact that Kazama literally has no reason to fall in love with Mitsuro, I can say that it's not. The voice actors - even the relatively well-known Hikaru Midorikawa - aren't much help, either, as their portrayals of the characters make them sound utterly emotionless. Even the ending theme ("Out of a Delusion" by Mitsuru Satou), which I found to be the smallest issue with this anime, is a song that I found myself not caring for; I guess it had potential as a song, but for some reason, I did not like the vocals. What is there to like about Houkago no Shokuinshitsu, then? Well, if you're in the mood to either laugh your butt off or let out your inner sarcasm for an hour, this is your perfect target. Even if you're the most hardcore fujoshi or fudanshi out there, you won't be able to enjoy this anime if you take everything seriously.
I don't know what they did, but the second episode was actually a bit better than the first... Mostly art-wise. It's like they went with a whole new art team. I didn't read the ten minute long credits at the end to find out. The story really was unbearably slow and the characters were very poorly developed. The art really does get better in the second episode. The story is a bit better in it too.
