At one point in my life- I used to hunt around like a crazed lunatic to find anything Yaoi/Shonen Ai related- I stumbled upon Papa to Kiss in the Dark and after much hesitation I thought what have I honestly got to lose. And the answer is- sanity. So what's first- the story? Well a son and a father constantly engage in 'activities' but outside of that- things are just peachy. This until the son, Mira, finds out that actually his 'father' may not actually be related to him at all. So finally- you'd think that someone has poked back the incest issue with a stick. But instead of being glad that they aren't related- the son is horrified that they aren't and figures that his father may be cheating on him. The characters are as packaged as they come. You've got the baby-faced shota who for some reason guys are attracted to, despite the fact that a flannel has more personality. The father- who fills in the role of the great and powerful seme - and probably needs to be arrested. And then you've got the side characters who are only there to further put the main character into more turmoil and cause further misunderstandings. Although the art is somewhat decent and the voice acting wasn't bad- the story falls flat on it's face and the characters don't give much support to the plot whatsoever. If you can look past the incest thing- accept a really awkward plot and can come away actually enjoying it- then I'd applaud you. However if you go in knowing what you'd find but expecting more- then trust me you won't be getting it here.
Alright people... this is a simple case of "know what you're getting into". If the subject matter bothers you, then for sanity's sake DON"T WATCH IT. Going in I knew the story: Mira is in love with his father, Kyosuke, and things go wrong during the course of the story and at the end there's a happy Shonen-ai ending. There was no malicious intent in the story, although yes Kyosuke starts many of the... uh, you know. I rate it low simply because it's predictable and unrealistic. The realationship between Kyosuke and Mira switches from parent and child to lovers so fast at times itwill give the veiwer wip-lash and the side relationships with his best friend and his upperclasmen seem to take up space more than anything... not to mention the story takes place in an unreasonably short amount of time. I believe the whole story could've been greatly improved if they took more time to make it longer and space out the events a bit more. The art, also, is rather average, and typical of shonen-ai anime, giving all the male characters the same eyes except the main uke. There are also periods of super-deformity that seem kind of out of place at first; The animation style is very similer to that of Gravitation (if you're a fan I recomend you see this, if not to just compare notes). The point is, though I don't believe this is the greatest OVA on the planet, I hate people rating it low because of its shota and incestuous content. Just to drill it in again, this story is about a BOY who is IN LOVE with HIS FATHER, and if SHOTA and INCEST disturbs you, I don't recomend this (gtfo). If, though, you are like me and don't mind that kind of stuff in your Yaoi, the story has a sweet and happy ending, albeit is a bit open-ended, that will leave those veiwers that have managed to stomach it throughout with a content feeling of completeness and is recomended just so you can chalk up another yaoi to your list.
Mira Munakata is a freshman who, is in love with Kyousuke Munakata, a handsome actor and his father; and the two of them are involved in a romantic and sexual relationship. Even if you disapprove of incest or find that you just do not really see that as something you could handle, I highly suggest watching this anime. It has an interesting twist at the end. Not to mention it is a timid yaoi. Very cute, and very enjoyable. It is actually a good one for people to test the waters and see if they would like yaoi series.
It was a good story I felt. I mean it wasn't the best in the world but it was a good story. The whole thing revolves around a young boy who was basically being sexually abused by his uncle (who he believed was his father) starting at a very young age. As he gets older he is madly in love with his unlce-father and gets ridiculously jealous of a presumed other woman in his uncle-father's life. He is also insecure about his role and position in the household, ie is he just a toy for his uncle-father's use. You go through variousincidences of his misunderstandings. The main failure of the story and this is because it's short is the fact the story has no follow through nor continuity. The story has a lot to offer and in the beginning it started off interestingly enough with a taboo moment but a good premise. It's towards the middle and definitely the second OAV that there are problems. There are a lot of sub-plots delivered but they never follow through. The relationship with the senpai is one, giving you the impression there should be a third or fourth OAV to develop this relationship. The relationship with the friend which is still precarious even if he is in love with his father-uncle. The relationship with his biological mum which was thrown out there but never given the due it deserved. Finally the issue of him and his female fiance which never got cleared up. So there was many arcs that had no follow-through or fully defined. All in all the story was good and the premise was interesting but it failed in delivery. The art work was fun and there are funny entertaining moments so I think it deserves a shot.
I came across this anime about a decade ago when I was like 12 and was searching for more shounen ai anime to watch on youtube. I loved it, I thought it was so cute. Obviously I didn't understand what was going on. Anime had changed my world view and anything my parents taught me was questioned while I openly accepted anything this nice, cheerful, happy anime world had to offer. I had no idea what I was doing, neither did my parents -btw this is why we need to teach kids media literacy from a very young age on and I sincerely hope thingshave changed today in terms of teaching kids about the dangerous influences of media and the internet in schools and families. However, I think this anime and others like it contributed to 12 y/o me's belief that there was nothing wrong with grown men liking children / young teens sexually. Thanks for that. Still in therapy. The art is fair enough but come on who supports this messed up storyline? Do you have any idea what media like this is doing to victims of sexual abuse? I mean, it's actively contributing to normalising this stuff for the abusers and the abused. Not cool. Should be banned.
This is a very beautiful story, even if it’s a little sappy sometimes. I feel for the characters a lot and want them both to be happy but once in a while, I feel like the incest just makes me fall shy of wanting to keep watching it. At the end, I was torn between happy that it was over to wanting more. I still feel dirty for the incest part, I just can’t get over it. Some of the context just seems like they went a little too far on the story for it to be somewhat real. I wouldn’t call this a hentaisince you never see the lower half of the characters but there are some scenes not for the children. I say, if you are old enough to watch hentai, then you can watch this but if not, I would be a little reluctant to say go for it. Mira normally ends up being a rather whiny little bitch at times, and can’t seem to do much for himself, always going to his father for most of it and yet when the drama starts, he is at a loss of what to do. The animation is beautifully done, clean and clear so you can get every little detail of the characters. Sometimes it does fall short but I don’t think I have seen very many shows that don’t fall short at some point. I have to say most of this show is rather well done which is normally the first thing I look at. The music hides in the background most of the time but does help break up the scenes so it’s not too overboard in their storyline. Now we get into the characters and boy, are they strange. Most of them seem to be one hit wonders in the show, one dimension and not really diving into their backgrounds. The only two we get a history from is Mika and Kyousuke and even then, sometimes, their background seems to jump around a bit.
Even though I love yaoi, I didn't put this OVA on my list when I read the summary... This is because it says to be incest. But, because my sister already saw it and said it wasn't to bad, I tried watching it too. In the beginning I still had the feeling of 'Ewl! This goes way too far!' However, I just tried not to think about the man and teenager being related and in the end it seemed quite logical to do so, because it really isn't that much incest in the end. I won't go into details about this, but if the incest is theonly reason for you not to watch this, just try it and watch it till the end, and not till you finish the first episode. I loved the OVA. It was cute and had a beautiful story. I also love this way of manga/anime art and I recommend it to everyone who loves yaoi.
I do like yaoi/shounen-ai, but only if they are good, and I just felt that Papa to Kiss in the Dark was a excuse for another yaoi series with little to no plot. The plot is just weird, because there's a child involved in this sexual activity like it's a normal thing. That, and they are practically father and son, in which case, I don't believe this scenario would happen. It was a letdown. From what I remember, the art and sound was fine though.
I really liked this anime as their relationship was soo sweet. I loved the adorably cute Mira and also the gorgeously attractive Kyosouske. If you like yaoi and want a cute romantic one, you'll like this. Give it try first before jumping to conclusions and burning it at the stake. Story: 8 This anime revolves around the relationship between Mira and his "father". The core plot summary is one of jealousy, and although this is a common love theme, this anime was able to make it unique in the way in which Mira's jealousy is portrayed as being a light and adorable concern. Furthermore, the animemoves at an enjoyable pace for a short shounen-ai anime, and there are also comical and at types serious moments to the anime which add further depth to it Art: 9 I'm not sure whether it's because I watched a DVDrip of this, but the art was pretty great in my opinion. One of the things I sometimes cannot stand in animes is when people are drawn with weird body portions, e.g. if they have a really small face and then really broad shoulders or something. But luckily, I'm glad to say that this was not the case in this anime, the people were drawn really well. As for the colours, the anime predominantly uses light bright colours which give it a cheery but also a somewhat fantasy-like/dreamy feel to it, which is quite pretty Sound: 8 The sound was good. (I'm not really good at reviewing sound, sorry) Character: 8 All characters in this anime were very likeable, and also have different attributes which thus embellishes and makes the anime more interesting. The main protagonists, Mira and Kyousuke are somewhat opposites of each other (the typical uke/seme pairing) which means they play off each other quite well. Other supporting characters such as Kazuki Hino and Takayuki Utsunimiya act as tools to help explain Mira and Kyousuke's relationship to the audience, which does allow one to empathize with their relationship Enjoyment & Overall Score: 9 All in all, I really enjoyed this anime. I think people really need to give this a try before bashing it. At first glance of hearing what the anime is about one may be a bit apprehensive about it, but if one really gives it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised. Sidenote: (As far as the whole "incest" thing is concerned, their relationship is incredibly cute and not malicious at all. Furthermore, there are a lot of couples like this in various other shounen-ai and yaoi animes&mangas; we've all seen the really cute big eyed short/young guy dating the tall attractive older male. Also, it's an anime, it's fiction, some people need to calm down. And one more thing, Have you seen the amount of popular incest themed yuri animes and mangas there are?!?!?!!? yeah, nuff said.)
By far this has been the most dumbest yaoi anime i ever seen. So the anime revolves around 15 year old being rape by his uncle/adopted father ever since he was born till his current age, and no I dont mean rape as in "get off of me, no means no" rape, i mean "thats a little kid your taking advantage of" rape, Not even 5 minutes into episode and they had sex, but its yaoi so i wasn't really surprise, but what got me turn off by this anime is that the main character is such a big crybaby, its utterly annoying, you'r a guygrow some balls, grow some big ones!! also the the senior in the anime has no type of relevance or importance in the anime whatsoever i had no idea why he was even in there to me, the anime wouldn't change a bit if he would have been taken out. Overall i strongly believe this anime was meant to be a yaoi hentai anime, poor story and alot of censor sex scenes? yup thats hentai right there, i probably rate it higher if it was because when you watch hentai you dont expect much except lots of sex scenes, but i guess the creator thought they would make more money if it was clean, more people who watch it but they thought wrong, this anime is rubbish, i recommend watching a different anime.
Honestly, the story isnt that bad! i wish it was longer. its pretty much just something you should know what your getting into. a boy loves his dad in that way. if you dont like that stuff then dont watch it but i enjoyed it :3 the art was amazing and the characters were cute. the sound was good for a 2005 anime and the overall experience was pretty good. i am a fujoshi so maybe thats why i enjoyed it,, but still. it was adorable. and at this point i really dont know what else to put the anime was good simple as that.
I think for being a short OVA series, Papa to Kiss in the Dark does okay. The art and animation and sound is alright. Characters a little bit generic per yaoi/bl standard... Childhood best friend, handsome student council president, idols (of course they're semes). And our uke main character, has some typical uke cuteness, with insecurity and jealousy up the yin. But... I honestly wanted to see more. The story had potential to go further than where it did. I imagine that if this were a 1 or 2 season anime, the story would have been more fleshed out. The premise being focused around the tabooaspect of incest is there, but it's never fully explored. Our main character has his dad, best friend, and student council president act as love interests (lucky guy if you ask me), but their personal backgrounds and plot points aren't pushed far, so there's a bunch of plot threads left hanging throughout the story. I'm left wondering how things could have panned out if these relationships were way more developed. The same thing with the mother plot point, that was brought up and then basically dropped. Overall, it's a cute, quick pick me up type of bl story. If you're looking for something fun or just want to try it out, it's not bad. It has funny moments and cute moments. For an OVA, it's not all too bad (and believe me, I've seen worse yaoi/bl). I wished it were longer so we could see how all these different relationships could have played out, but it is what it is.
I was 10 when I first watched this anime. It is about how a boy likes his dad and have a TOTALLY LEGAL (cough cough, NOT) relationship. The art is great though. Like, GREAT great. But as I have mentioned before, this is about a boy that is in love with his father, even if the father might not be his biological father, he is still somebody that looked after this kid since he was idk, 3 or something (maybe even less). Which makes it a big nono for me and hopefully every other sane person. SO in conclusion, I'd give the art a solid 6/10and the story a 1/10. If I come to the characters, they weren't too interesting or anything. Just typical anime boys that care only about the "white milk" and have close to no personality whatsoever. Just made to please the females fantasizing about these kind of stuff. Empty puppets that care only about lust. That is why I give the characters a 2/10. Is it a good yaoi? Nope, it is just a yaoi. Is it worth your time? There are better Yaoi's out there honestly, go after them!
I don't think there's words to describe how shit this is. I was dared to watch this as a "yaoi" thing by my brother, who didn't know what it was about. I just assumed it was some random bad basically porn yaoi, well I was wrong. First of all, its incest, and then near the end they try to make you think its not. So here I was like "Oh, so at least its not AS bad", but no. They make it so that it IS incest, and that they ARE related. No matter what, even if they weren't blood related, the plot is still about afather having SEX with his son, who views him as his biological father, which is disgusting. And then after they go with the whole "they're not actually related so its okay lol yeah totally lol just like adoptive parent and kid lol", I was a little LESS disgusted, but then they go another 180 and yeah, they're like uncle and nephew or something, which turns them more on. Like they literally got upset when they thought they weren't related. And even if we take the blood related part out of it or incest in general, its still a grown man and a kid whos BARELY in high school, like thats disgusting enough on its own. There's a whole subplot, I didn't pay attention to, it was one of those ones that seemed kinda obsessed and a little rapey, but everything in this genre seems rapey and obsessive so in that sense its just basic. A love triangle where it was a childhood best friend, I think they kiss and main uke guy is like -_-, honestly the whole thing was an eyesore to look at. It was basic, every yaoi has one, you knew they weren't gonna end up together it was only there for "drama" which ended up being boring, but this whole thing was boring so I guess that doesn't have much standing. Its an OVA the art and music are bad thats nothing new. The whole thing is off puttingly lighthearted, like the main characters act like its normal, and I haven't watched it in a while but they don't get scrutinized by the ukes biological mom or anyone else. I get the appeal, you know if it wasnt incest I'd probably give it a 2 or 3/10 for just being shit without any incest, but because its shit WITH incest its just terrible. I watched this a while back and I'm only writing a review because I was looking back through my list and saw this and vomited a little in my mouth, and I looked at its rating and reviews, and didn't see one that truly encaptured the terribleness in this. If you want a disgusting show about a father raping his son with some random ass side character for a love triangle this is for you, and honestly if your into incest, I don't know what to tell you.
Imagine men in suits sitting in a room, thinking about what project to do next. Then one of them is like "yo there’s this light novel about a guy who sexually abuses his teenage son‚ and then the room goes ‚what?! SOLD!" When I watch stuff like that I can’t help but wonder about all the steps it takes to produce such an abomination. I don’t know who asked for this, and I’m not sure what kind of people they were targeting when they did this, but y’all need Jesus. When it comes to sexuality in media etc., I’ve never considered myself to be prude - myfav. Manga has tons of incest and even pedophilia, but the difference is that it had a good story. In this waste of time, it is just seen as something that happens and everyone supports it. The outrageous elements here are only there to add in a little twist on an otherwise completely boring story and people with no character traits. It's just there to be there. If you really want to watch this, then do so with another person and get drunk, so you can at least make fun of this together (couldn’t get past 2 minutes when I tried watching it alone)
In the beggining it seems to be only a shota with a huge incest, but it become sometime much more complex than that and much more beautiful. With a lovely character feature, characters that makes you fall in love with, and a story with a lot of ups and downs (most of them you can put yourself in the situation), this anime has everything to gain your attention and love. Before you watch if, you have to stop those preconceptions you have and just watch BOTH EPISODES. The emotional weight of this anime is really huge if you watch it with your heart clean of prejudgements. I'm sureI'll watch it again, not forgetting to get the tissues to clean my eyes when the tears come. ^^
so....this guy is banging his dad, right? but its not his biological dad, which he finds out later and hes upset ab this for....some reason. ok. not-dad is involved with some vapid woman who has a gay son who wants to bang the main character (not sure why, hes f*cking annoying and isnt even cute, but to each their own i guess). ok. basically this show sucks and i feel bad for the ppl involved who needed money so badly that they were a part of this. its definitely not the worst yaoi out there, not by a long shot, but its still p bad. definitely something id neverwatch again and i only gave it a 2 bc watching those 2 episodes was a wild experience that ill definitely remember, but i cant say i think anyone else should subject themselves to this
Story: The story is very average, I wish they would have done more with it. I think if this was a show rather than an OVA, the story wouldn't feel so rushed. So basically the story is that the son and father are in love and have a romantic and sexual relationship. But for some reason the son also has a friend who likes him so there is that side romance that doesn't go anywhere. Art: The art is decent, it's way cuter than some other yaoi I've seen. Characters: The characters in this show are fair. We have a classic Uke X Seme relationshipand the side characters are just as average. Overall, I did enjoy this anime. I think its very average but it wasn't half bad.
Little spoiler warning! Wtf did I just watch? It was disgusting. Mira moaned everytime he talked like stfu? Also he was sad bc it wasnt his irl dad? Wtf was wrong with him? This yaoi was pedophile like the most old yaois. Also it was a harem. I hate those characters, the way were talking was soooo cringe- I got cringed soooo mny times here- I wonder why I just watched this. They got crazy with those drama scenes. Drama in unnecessary places. I felt like watching a Bollywood film or smh. But I have to say if you like those things you can watch it-But yk I think it was disgusting. It was soooo cringe. It was a cliche yaoi. But you can watch it if you are like reallyyyy realllyyyy reallyyyy bored
