Formerly an all-boys school, Seigetsu Academy is now a co-ed institution that hones its students' knowledge in astronomy. In this regard, Tsukiko Yahisa enrolls as the first and only female student in the academy. By her side are her childhood best friends, Kanata Nanami and Suzuya Touzuki, who shield her from the advances of the student body. As Tsukiko learns to navigate her new environment, she encounters 13 distinct boys who are based on the Western zodiac star signs. Eventually, Tsukiko's involvement with these boys drags her deeper into star-crossed routes that will entangle her in numerous affairs. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

As someone who played all the starry sky games, this is a pathetic attempt to try to squeeze every single character's plotline into 1 show. They only give 2 episodes per guy (which is only 11 min per episodes so a full episode per guy). They don't even use this time wisely to fully cover or describe the character. In fact they have tended to add original stuff (like Homare's episodes) and completely change the perception of characters to those who never played the games. The animation & character designs were transferred poorly and everyone had derpy faces 90% of the time. This isone of the worst game adaptations I've ever seen and if you really want to know the stories of Starry Sky, go play the games.
My first reaction to this anime was, "Oh, this will just follow the girl with all the guys being a constollation.. okay." But after I caught on to the actual story, I started to enjoy it better. First off, this anime is a good one to sit down and watch with a friend, when you are sick of another anime, just bored, or you want to find out about these constollation things. It is really interesting how every two eps a new character is brought in with a celestial sign of their own. How the said person acts throughout the two eps is all upon theirsign. I gave this anime a high rating because it really made me think of everyone I know and their own signs. If they'd act similar as the characters whom match their signs. What caught my attention with the art work were the eyes of everyone. To me, if the anime doesn't have good detail on the eyes, it's not worth it almost half the time. However, this one reached the bar for my liking and didn't disappoint in another after that. How this anime ended left me satisfied. The creators wrapped it all up so perfectly that I never imagine another season.

Starry☆Sky is an anime that is a series of Japanese otome game visual novels created and developed by the software company Honeybee. It was separated into four games, the first released in 2009, with three love interests in each, making a total of twelve possible love interests. It was well received in Japan, having Drama CDs, countless manga adaptations and a 26 episode anime adaptation. While it was revived well for many of the otome games, the anime is a swing and miss at bat. Story: 5.19/10 (*Review Begins) Tsukiko Yahisa is the first female student to attend Seigetsu Academy, a former all-boys school specializing in astronomy. She is closely watched over by her childhood friends, Kanata Nanami and Suzuya Tohzuki, who often protect her from the male student body. Throughout the anime, she befriends other young men whose personalities are based on the Western zodiac constellations. *While the plot seems captivating, it didn't keep me intrigued for very long. The herione, Yahisa is the ONLY female? While this is a reverse harem, and many people don't watch anime for it's realistic factors, the animators also claim this a "slice of life". That seems a little too exaggerated then. The episode pacing and layout are very irritating. The pacing is very slow, and episode 9 still feels as though we are at square one. The layout of meeting each boy is very repetitive, following the same layout every two episodes. 1) Small talk. 2) Flashbacks. 3) "Deppresing" back story. 4) Rather, Rinse, Repeat. I wish I was joking. Seeing as each epsiode is 10 minutes long (sometimes feeling like 30), each boy gets to have two episodes. The layout gets old fast, and the "depressing back stories" are as far as i see it are dumb. You are half-French? Your life must be so terrible. You have a laugh that everyone makes fun of? You poor baby. While some boys have legit back stories (terminal illness sucks), they only get to those in the last few episodes so by that point, I don't care anymore. My hopes weren't that high for a story anyway, seeing as its a reverse harem (if you want to see a good one, watch Ouran Highschool Host Club!) Overview: + Intriguing synopsis - Stupid back stories - Layout gets old fast. - Why is she the ONLY girl? - Pacing Slow Art: 8.59/10 The art wasn't super amazing, but it wasn't a piece of garbage. The color pallet was beautifully done, and the characters on how they are animated are okay. The men and woman are attractive, but the scenery wasn't as crisp as it could be. Again had a lot of potential. Overview: +Characters animated well + Attractive color scheme - Scenery was shabby Sound: 6.45/10 The opening was horrible. It was basically a sideshow of all the guys posing and the girl walking around. While the song was a huge EW, the ending wasn't as bad. The voice acting was well done (both sub and dub) it wasn't the greatest thing I've heard. Seeing as there are 13 main characters, I thought they could've tried to shorten the beginning as much as possible as you get only 10 minuets a pop. Overview: + Voice acting - OP and CL was bad Character: 3.56/10 Mary-Sue alert. Our herione is one of the most cliche female lead I've ever had the unfortune to lay eyes on. She is over determined (" It's fine! I can carry this!" "Go on ahead I'm fine!") and is waaaaay to clumsy. Those aren't flaws, because in reality everyone is in the least bit clumsy. While she is the prefect girl, the guys have flaws at least. They have the DPBS Syndrome ("depressing" back story syndrome) and some of them are way to over protective. I hate all of them equally, so no I don't have a faveroite guy. Our herione is also a tinsy bit ignorant. Overview: - Mary-Sues everywhere - DPBS Syndrome - Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Cliche Enjoyment: 8.56/10 My enjoyment of bashing this anime is far to fun. But seriously, I actually liked it, even though everything sucked. It's like a guilty pleasure, you know how bad it is, though you keep watching. I'm not sure why, I think it's because it tried so hard to be good, and I have to give it points for that. Overall: 5.9/10 After adding the scores, averaging the total, I get a well deserved 6. The anime wasn't that bad, but definely has some parts the made me nerd rage. I opt you give this anime a try, but don't take my word for how bad it is. I expect to get a lot of people replying "not helpful" for this review, even though I had to write this stupid review twice. I hope that you will enjoy/ have enjoyed this anime, liked my review, and will give me some feedback. Check out my other reviews, and as always, Enjoy!
Hi, amateur reviewer here! Just finished rewatching this series (yeah rewatching since nostalgia hit me and I'm bored so why not?). I'm rating this as a person who has not played all of the starry sky game franchise (I've only played Spring... Suzuya-samaaaa//slapped) so I don't have the capability of comparing between which is better or worse. That's why I can rationally say that this anime is a good watch if you just want something light and fluffy and a must watch if you're planning to play the game itself. Story: 7 Okay, this anime is about a girl who loves astronomy so she decided to enroll toa school that specializes it. The school recently became co-ed so she's the only girl in the whole academy. Erm, we definitely heard about that plot before so what makes this series slightly different from the rest? It's the atmosphere. Watching it made me feel at peace. Like a poem... or maybe a karuta. The anime sings and has it's unique melody for each episode that makes you cling to it even though it is all just speeches. Haha Art: 8 Art is good though there are times that the animators got lazy and they just spawn pictures. Though they are nicely drawn, I would still like them to move, you know. The ending theme is just... no effort. I understand, though because of budget issues but... sigh. Sound: 7 No opening song. They have no time for that because if they did, there would be no show because... there would be no time *laughs* But they made up with their seiyuus (I like the female protagonist's voice... it suited her). The opening song is okay, no complaints. Character: 9 This is where Starry Sky shines - their beautiful sets of handsome shounen, all according to season. Because that's what this anime is all about, introducing these guys and their backstories. Each character represents a certain zodiac sign, which they represent astoundingly. My sign is Cancer and my best friend's sign is Taurus and this show hit the bulls-eye for each of our sign. That's why I assure you that you can definitely enjoy this anime... because it connects to its audience. Enjoyment: 8 Like I said, this anime is like a poem that sings. It touches your soul and makes you feel at peace. It speaks to you by speeches of harmony. It makes your heart aflutter for each character. Definitely a shoujo worth watching. Overall: 8 All in all, watching and rewatching this series made me search youtube and search for video walkthroughs of the game series because I want to know more and explore every lovable character in this series. Because they're awesome and I especially want to explore more of their stories and how they connect to the female protagonist. And love their stories. Heart!
Ok....Starry Sky. As some of you might know, Starry Sky was originally an otome game or a dating simulator game for girls. I have not played the game so I will not talk about that aspect; just the anime. I did not really enjoy this anime much. If you love the game, great! I'm sure that it is a great game but the anime...well....meh. Story 1/10: The story in this anime, is pretty much nonexistent. There is no middle, no climax, I'm not even sure if you would call the ending an ending. The story was basically all introduction, each character has 2 episodes where ittalks about their backstory and what not. It disappointed me that the main heroine of the story: Yahisa Tsukiko, was barely even talked about. She is supposed to be the main character! And they don't talk about her at all?! You literally know nothing about her so I don't know how this is supposed to be a romance anime, because if you don't know anything about her why do all of the guys like her? Also, there are times when some points are just not explained, it leaves you wondering why something happened but they never address it again or explain it. Art 10/10: The art is the upside to this anime. I can't say that the characters look bad because they don't, the anime did a good job of making every character look different, which is a challenge because there are 13 guys. Sound 6/10: There isn't really an opening song but there is an ending song, and I guess I liked that one ok. Background music is fine. Character 7/10: I thought that the characters were pretty well done excluding the main heroine. They each, like I said, had their own story and 2 episodes to explain that story. Even though it has some nice characters you tend to forget about them later on, because after their episodes they are not really important anymore. One character that was interesting was the student-body President, he is pretty much the only character who shows up continuously throughout the anime. He has a very interesting back story. Enjoyment 4/10: I did really like this when I first started watching it, but after a while it started to bore me. I would have dropped this but I felt I should just finish it because I was already 12 episodes in, or more, I can't remember. To me, this was extremely boring and painful to watch. Overall 5/10: I did not like this. It had no plot, not even a hint of intrigue. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you've played the game and really, REALLY, want to watch it. But you're better off not wasting your time with this. ***Additional Note*** Starry Sky is only 10 min per episode; that is why I originally watched this. Although its only 10 min, it feels like the longest 10 min of your life.
I've seen all the reviews people made for this anime, and I honestly don't get the shitty ratting they're giving out. Might be because they played the game. But anyways, this review is made by someone who hasn't played it and went to watch it without knowing what to expect. Story: 7 It was good, had some pros and cons. I don't think this type of anime was suitable for just being 10 min long. And some parts of it just left me all "ow fuck hows it gonna turn out like? whats next?" but it was the 2nd episode of that character and a new one wouldstart, so none of us could know whats up next. On the bright side, I actualy liked a lot the fact that you could know what the characters were thinking, it wasn't one of those shallow dumb little animes you see. It actualy was deep to a certain extent, because with the problems and personalities they have I'm pretty sure that you can relate yourself with at least one of them and realise that your not alone on those thoughts. Also the bonds that the characters have with eachother are just heart warming and will put a smile on your face. Although the fact that everyone is after Tsukiko.. Kinda gets annoying, what they see on her, you don't. To me she's just that type of cute plain character that has nothing much to it. Art: 9 I gotta say, so much detail and beauty was put into the characters. They're the "beautiful yet delicate" type. Gives a shoujo feeling to it and makes the fangirls crazy, that's a given. Sound: 9 I liked this part the most, the music was just beautiful throughout the anime, and the ending theme is just the cherry on top of the cake, energetic and just awesome. It really went along with the scenes and in certain cases it would probly make me teary like in the final episode. Character: 8 I really liked the diversity of characters they came up with, both in looks and personality. Each one is unique and you just cant mistake them no mather what. But unfortunatly.. Both the time and number of episodes didnt provide us much time to aknowledge the characters. It's as if it was all rushed and put in a nutshell. Enjoyment: 7 I was deciding wether to give this a 7 or a 6. It had its ups and downs, sometimes it's kind of boring, while other times you get a lot of enjoyment from watching it. Overall: 8 I recomend it if you're looking for something beautiful and meaningfull to watch. Don't expect this anime to be filled with ecchi and stupid humor, so if you're after such, you might aswell just leave and refrain from watching this. As I said before, it's a heart warming anime to watch, very pretty in every sence and down to earth. It's a slice of life kind, but one where you actualy get in each characters mind and associate yourself with them in many many aspects of your life. If you like what you just read, then give it a try on this one. You might end up liking it a lot like I did, even though I didn't expect anything major when I started watching it :)
Loved this anime. Overall, I think there were a couple plot wholes within the plot (obviously). But well review that part later. First off, Im going to review the characters starting off as my own zodiac sign, Iku Mizushima. Iku Mizushima, does represent me in a way. *SPOILERS AHEAD* His band members, (Friends of mine) were using him for his money. I can really relate to this character after deaths, and mis fortune, and basically doesn't trust many people. So as you can see, he is my favorite character for emotional adaption reasons. Yoh Tomoe, didn't make sense to me. His dis trust in others for being"French"? He was a really confusing character at first, i started to like him more and more through out the series. Hes not at all my favorite character, hei cant really understand his past like i did with Iku. Kanata Nanami, another emotional related character. Love him to death, the illness thing really reminds me of some of my siblings, half of them have that sort of mental disorder. 2nd favorite character, also for emotional adaption. Suzuya Tohzuki, reminds me of myself. I love to cook, I'm really protective and sometimes dark about things. I myself have a dark side sort of the same as Tohzukis. 3rd favorite character, for yet another relation. Im not going to review all the characters, Im just lazy like that. Anyways, on to the Plot! I had to kinda figure out the plot through each episode, it had me thinking for brief moments. Im not sure whether it was just me who had to figure out the plot for myself through at least one, two, three episodes. But i did. It made sense for every episode i watched, the plot thickened at some moments but i liked that. This was my review for starry_sky! Hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading!
Let me start by saying those who reviewed based on one episode or those who didn't know this was based on a dating sim and reviewed are missing the whole perspective and need to give this show (as well as the game) another chance with the whole perspective. I had seen art for the game and it intrigued me enough that I want to watch detailed playthroughs for sure, but what I hadn't known until recently is that this anime existed. I was actually pretty excited to watch it even though I knew most people wouldn't care for it. I was immediately drawn in by the artand the character designs. I create a lot of my own original characters and I have been an artist all my life, so if a show lacks in any of these areas I find it hard to watch. I love that each character has their own unique look which brings out their personality. I very much enjoyed the art style and I spent a lot of time analyzing what I liked about it so that I could incorporate it into my own art. When a dating sim is involved, often the main female with be generic or boring. I didn't find her that way at all. She had her own unique appearance, past and personality and that made me very happy. So for art I give an (8) because the art was lovely, but I did catch a few lazy animations here and there that could easily have been made better. The story itself and the characters go hand in hand. The story revolves around getting to know the characters. 2 episodes each are dedicated to giving you an overview of the character's past, personality, and who they interact with most. I do believe that the reasons things were not super detailed were as follows: 1.) This was meant to introduce you to the game so you'd be more interested in playing it. (Worked for me!) 2.) This was low budget so they could not afford to make more episodes and be more detailed. (I think adding more seasons with more detail would be great, and I'd watch). Based on what they had to offer, I still give it a (9) because each story pulled me in and I found myself rooting for each character's happiness and success and through those characters, we also get to know the heroine. The music often gets stuck in my head and I think it set the mood for a story that revolves around the stars and the sky. The voices and voice acting definitely set up the personalities of the characters well and each character would not be the same without their own nuances in how they spoke. I gave the sound a (9) as well because of this. I enjoyed the anime and overall I really liked it. I think it was a successful overview to get you ready for playing the game and it did a lot better to convey itself than most anime made from dating sims do. If you watched this first, you should gave no trouble walking into the game feeling like you already know the characters and, as I mentioned, I think that this may be the point of the show. My overall rating is an (8) because the show definitely wasn't perfect and had a lot of slow points for those who enjoy more fast paced and not so character based shows. But for someone like me who likes this kind of thing, I was happy.
