Mysterious cards came down from the sky one day. Capable of summoning powerful creatures from another dimension, they became the centerpiece of a new game called Bakugan. The game gained instant popularity among children and teenagers, with the best of them competing in a worldwide ranking. Meanwhile, war for domination over Vestroia, the homeland of Bakugan cards, rages on. Invaded by the White Dragon Naga and his servants, the Doom Beings, the realm becomes increasingly destabilized. Dimensions begin to merge and many Bakugan players come to realize that their pastime is not merely a game. Danma Kuusou, one such Bakugan player, intends to become the World Ranking's leader someday. However, during one of his fights he experiences a vision of a clash in Vestroia. The fight suddenly moves to Earth, where Danma comes into possession of a talking, mighty fire Bakugan, Pyrus Dragonoid. He soon gets dragged into the conflict, and together with his Bakugan Brawlers team, must traverse the dimensions and restore balance in a ravaged world. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Alright, I thought I'd take the time and effort to write a review on a series I just recently finished(due to long breaks from it in order to do other things), and personally found very enjoyable, Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Now, this series gets a lot of hate, and I can see where some people are coming from when they say it's a rip-off of Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon. However, in reality, I don't feel that way. There are quite a few things in this anime that really make it stand out from all those others that people compare it too, so let's take a little timeto talk about it. STORY: Alright, so the story of Bakugan Battle Brawlers is pretty much something most people would expect. Evil person trying to destroy the world and they have to use the Bakugan to save it. However, the story still gives twists and tweaks that really set Bakugan apart. However, if you don't watch past a certain point, you'll never get caught up in the story, and that's probably why most people akin it to most other animes that it's similar to, they just don't watch far enough into the story. Bakugan is one of those anime that you have to watch long enough to get into the actual story in order to set it apart from other anime, and once you do, it's very good. People really need to give it a second chance and watch farther into the anime. ART: I'll be the first to admit, the art of Bakugan Battle Brawlers is similar to a lot of anime. However, it's also very good and the way it's drawn plays out the battles very well. I think the animator did a great job. Enough detail to differentiate Bakugan and add to the experience of the show, but not so much detail that it simply blows you away when you see it. Sure, I love beautiful art and great detail as much as the next girl(or guy) when it comes to my anime, but Bakugan's art is, in my opinion, excellent without being excessive. Now, I had to watch the English version, so for me the only problem was the way the voices wouldn't match the lips, as Zoki-chan said in her review of the series. Kudos to the artist of Bakugan! SOUND: Now, I can't say much here, since I DID have to watch the EV(anyone who can give me links to download/stream the JV will be much appreciated :3), but I will admit that the opening song for the EV is rather catchy, and got stuck in my head. Some of the music during the battles is pretty good, as well. However, my lack of Knowledge of the music of the JV made me have to give sound a lower rank than the other aspects of the anime. Though, I'd love to hear some of the JV's music :3 CHARACTER: Alright, so I'm sure you're all wondering why Character is the only aspect of this show that got a perfect 10 for me? Well, let me put it this way, Bakugan did a great job on its characters. Sure, they have some generic stereotypes in there, but at the same time they managed to differentiate their characters and make all the main characters lovable and easy to get attached to. The characterization of Bakugan is amazing, even though it doesn't give much development. Though, most animes of this type don't really give much development. However, the characters are still great in this series, even the Bakugan have character! ENJOYMENT AND OVERALL: So, overall, I think Bakugan is a great series that's definitely worth checking out. Sure, it's got its flaws, but I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. If people would actually give it a shot, they'd find it's not as much of a rip-off, or as terrible and generic as they think it is. I found myself addicted to it, and even got the game for my Wii :3 I'm moving on to New Vestroia now, and best believe I'll be writing a review for that one once I finish it! Anyway, that ends this review. Ja ne, minna!~
i realy love this anime because its similar to pokemon, digimon, and yugioh and i loved all of those anime. i also know this show gets a lot of hate because of it but i wanted another anime like yugioh with a good story for a while and i just love the story. story 10 i give it a 10 because its absolutly amazing and i just love the plot twist and it sometimes keeps me guessing and i was hooked on to this show and the other seasons of this series just gets better. but i wont spoil it. i just wish there where more seasonsand more story to it. character 10 i love the character in this anime and the character development was done well. i actully liked the voice actors for this anime some characters might get anoying but not enough to make this a bad anime. enjoyment 10 i enjoyed this anime to the very end and it kept me wanting to have more episode and to never end. overall 10 i highly recomend this anime for yugioh fans that wants another anime similar to yugioh, pokemon, and digimon. thanks for reading this short review.
Though I see why lots of people call this series something between Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh but much less entertaining, I wouldn't call it an anime I dislike, seeing as I actually took the time to watch it till the end. I think only Runo spoiled my enjoyment, because seriously, she annoys me with her blabber-mouthed nonsensical talk. I am also aware of the fact that being one of lucky few who actually understand HOW to play the game, it wouldn't be necessary to deny the fact that the gameplay and rules are a bit confusing. It came off somewhat unoriginal or inconsistent, but it was funwatching it. I also liked watching certain duels where the characters are able to think of ways on countering the ability summoned by the opponent, and the different uses of each card also fascinated me. My only disappointment was the fact that Alice was my favorite character, and everytime she wouldn't go into battle like the others did, it felt unfair because she was, after all a part of the group. This series may have its ups and downs, but I think I will continue watching till New Vestroia.
I still remember to cherish this season because I still remember watching this show right before school. I loved everything from character to character. The way they respond to each other is very sociable. I love every emotion in the series because It helps tells you that its not only a toy its an honorable show to watch. Yes its amazing because of how friendship can help you through life. Especially when your down feeling moody you'll love the fact that good always overcomes evil. I didn't dislike anything about it either. I also liked It because the action has kept me veryopen about this anime.
The plot features Dan and his friends who invent a new game, after witnessing a strange event; this game consists of three-round fights, in which the players have cards and as a weapon for balls to put in the playing field which, when opened, turn into the Bakugan. Bakugans are monsters from another dimension and playing cards have a particular scope that corresponds to a natural element, such as fire, water, light, etc. The plot consists of these kids who have to save the world from the wicked who use the Bakugan for their shady purposes. The anime of which children and kids from 10 years upgo crazy is nothing more than a simple mixture of other products of the same kind, such as "Yu Gi Oh". "Bakugan", to me, is just another publicity stunt from which the authors derive a lot of money through the sale of toys. Poor children of the future. It is one of the souls that I saw when I was a child and I also want to watch it even though I am a majorenna
An amazing bond of friendship is formed between the main characters Dan and Drago. I think that if you love having a sister, bother, cousin or best friend that you can trust and that will stand by your side in the worst times. Well, I think you will want to see this anime and meet the other characters; Shun, Alice, Marocho, Runo, Julie and their bakugan friends.
This is the magnum opus of Yugioh clones. A true testament to how far we have come as a species. If there was one thing I could salvage as the sun becomes a red supergiant and consumes the earth, it'd be a box set of Bakugan: Battle Brawlers. The story is about a young man named Dan maturing with his plastic magnet dragon toy thing and his friends. It truly feels like a satisfying adventure with a phenomenal ending. The characters are not mere generic shounen tropes, they have transcended reality itself and end up feeling so real and fleshed out that you could reach in andcaress Dragonoid's scaly nipples. The animation came straight out of a Van Gogh painting, truly capturing the emotional weight of each scenario. True greatness. The soundtrack must have been stolen from the archive of unused compositions from Ludwig van Beethoven. Truly a masterful collection of pieces. Overall this show is one of the true gems of the modern era, I urge everyone to watch this show so they can become redpilled like I have.
I remember watching this show as a kid and loving it. Though today I don't think is as good as 7 year old me did I find myself enjoying it. The Story It is fairly generic. But, I do think that though it is generic it still does it's story alright. So I give it a 6/10. The Art Standard. 5/10. The SoundYou know for a kid's show the dub is not all that bad. Also that theme song is pretty damn good. What are gonna do? The odds are stacked against you! 5/10 The Character This is one of those shows where even though the characters are generic, I still fell that every character has a defined personality. But why would it get a 9/10 from me? One word. Masquerade. I will talk about him later to avoid spoilers but, he is one of my favorite characters. My Enjoyment I just had fucking fun with this. The fights wre awesome and the creature designs were amazing. 9/10 Overall 7/10 (Warning spoilers ahead.) Now why do I love Masquerade so much? Well you should ask why I lover Alice so much. Seriously when I first saw who Masquerade was I flipped. I was just stunned , how could it be Alice? Oh and this is one of my favorite character arcs in anime. This is just amazing.
this is the show that got me into anime I still have all of my toys and every time I see it I get a wave of nostalgic goodness. this may be a clone but its great to watch for some good old stupid fun. this is the best clone and its way better than yu gi oh by a long shot. its a little outdated but you can get a good laugh out of it. the dubb has lots of cheesy lines and the voice actors are generic so is the animation. short story: 1.its a generic shonen 2.funny dub 3.the show is short and fun to watch.
I loved this anime as a child I remember watching the latest episodes on TV before I went to school. This anime may get a lot of hate or from what I have seen it does and it's those peoples opinions but I want to say that I loved this anime. My favourite character would have to be Shun although he does kind of remind me of Sasuke from Naruto he stood out for me I guess my little child self thought he was pretty cool. And thats one thing I loved about the anime is Shun's interactions with Dan I don't know why but Iloved the interactions between the two and looked forward to it while watching the series.
I first saw Bakugan when I had to watch my cousins, they were obsessed with it so I decided to see what it was about. I thought it was going to be a yugioh " must explain every move I make in great detail " kind of show , but it wasnt , it was actually pretty enjoyable. The story is kind of like yugioh at the start of the show so if youre not a fan of yugioh then it may be hard to sit through, but just bear it because the storyline changes and it gets intense in some episodes. The art iswell done , the actually bakugan creatures are very creative. I was watching the english dub so the voices are either decent or unbearable, but that doesnt really take away from the enjoyment of the show. Characters are either intresting or unbearable, it all depends on the viewer. Overall Bakugan is an easy show to get into and enjoy if you give it a chance.
The series is like your typical kids show. There are subtle differences, but not much. If you like cute and tough characters and shows like Digimon and Pokemon, then you should feel right at home with Bakugan. I do warn you, however, the english cast is sometimes dreadful.
When I watched it , it was one of the best Cartoon/Anime ever. Everyone used to talk about it. People used to play imaginary bakugan in the class or on the bus or outside when they didn't have the toys with them. I visit review sites to review this gem of an anime and I find really bad reviews about how the animation is bad, or the story is bad or how the characters are not developed properly or how the game makes no sense, that's absurd! First of all the game makes perfect sense. The Game: You set two gate cards , you set your bakugan, and make them battle, if your life points are lower , you can activate special ability cards , or activate the ability of your gate cards! It's a lot easier to understand than Yu gi oh . Coz we use the same set of cards almost for every element, just in a more creative way . So you know all the cards and bakugan that each player has , some like me could even name them. Also there's a doom card to send your bakugan to the doom dimension, you won't get it back if that happens. It's as simple as UNO! But unlike UNO, there's nothing left to luck , it all depends on YOUR STRATEGY. Honestly, if you can't understand it, that's probably coz you suck at the game , or coz you don't want to. The Characters: (Few spoiler from Doom Dimension arc in this section) Some say that the characters design is one dimensionsional and thinner than the paper they draw on(you know who you are), Did you even watch the show?? I'll admit it doesn't have the best characters ever , maybe coz it's a KIDS SHOW!!! but how on Earth(and Vestroia) are they bad???? Dan is your token protagonist at first, but he does loose and with each loss he learns, he learns to look at Drago as a partner rather than a bakugan, there are arguments , conflicts and consequences to Dan's actions , like the time he brawled without Drago. His character develops immensely, from a playful token protagonist, to a guy with a purpose and an unbreakable bond with his friends. When Dan battled the world No. 3 , you could legit feel the tension. Sure he's not the greatest protagonist ever , but he's not less than anyone. The others 5 main brawlers developed too , most of them in the doom dimension arc, till that they were almost token character types , but in the doom dimension arc, we discover more about why they were that way and how they improve as a brawler and as a person!, JULIE Learning that she must strive to be the best person she can be instead of comparing herself with others causes Gorem to evolve. MARUCHO learning to embrace his past, to recognize and accept the old Marucho for who he is instead if loathing, even though the old Marucho was always obedient and didn't live life to the fullest to meet his parents's expectations, he was still Marucho. This causes preyas to evolve. SHUN was a lone wolf kind of guy , believing that he had to face every battle on his own, in the episode of his test , he was taken to a land where the sun never set, a land in which he could be with his late mother , just them, but then he has a memory of his terminally ill mother saying to him from her deathbed "When I was young , I wished that the sun never set so that I could play forever. Sunsets like that don't last forever, enjoy them while you can" , And he realized that while battling , when his best friend/bakugan Skyrus almost defeated, Shun's realization that nothing lasts forever and thus it is important to spend those preiceless moments with those you hold dear, causes skyrus to evolve. RUNO used to be reckless, never heeded anyone's advise and overall stubborn, in her test, she realizes how stubborn she was and how she was always so hasty and wanted payback. Masquerade is your antagonist altho he is not main villain. He is cool and strong and makes the series more interesting. He works for Naga and Hal G. Should I go on? This is good writing people, face it. If you call the plot weak or thin , you're either haters or cannot comprehend human emotions, life lessons and good storytelling. The story is not great, but it is by no means bad. The animation: Sure the animation is not the best , but it is good! The Bakugan are animated beautifully and the overall animation is good. It's not like the Fate Series , but it's almost like Code Geass. And as for the "recycling", they recycle the part where bakugans transform from sphere to their original forms, the activation of gate cards and ability cards , the attacks except in key fights. Why is it a bad idea??? I mean , it is a card game after all , do you want the Bakugan to transform in a different way each time? Like why? It's like asking a person playing blackjack to say hit me in a different voice each time. And as for the action scenes , this is NOT A MARTIAL ARTS ANIME! If your Bakugan's power level is higher , you win, and your bakugan don't have to do any fancy moves for that. Does a chess piece need to do fancy moves before taking out a pawn? The frames are repeated for a reason, EFFICIENCY. The animators are smart , and know what they should spend their time on. And just because a guy with internet access says otherwise , it Doesn't mean the animation is bad! Conclusion: I loved this anime, it evokes major nostalgia. I could relate to many of the characters when I was a kid, I was stubborn like Runo, Wanted to live up to everyone's expectations like Marucho and constantly compared myself with others like Julie, Ditched my friends like how shun did ,when I was mad and then made up with them, was greedy like Masquerade, supported my friends the best I could like Alice and formed unbreakable bonds with my friends like Dan! And the battles were epic! The premise was very interesting, it was a unique kind of game, with interesting Bakugans. If you don't like it , it's ok, I can see why, but Calling it a bad show is not fair. This show is a perfect 10 in my eyes. (This review was originally created by Kavanp-45286.I m just delivering it to this site and edit few things) Stay safe and have fun.
Bakugan, yes, Bakugan Battle Brawlers is in every child's heart. Especially the Eastern European ones(like me) who waited so much to come from school, to find Bakugan rolling on CN or any other channel. Every child remembers how desperate it was for Bakugan toys, and how this show made you feel. There are no words to express this show, it's a 2000's anime, about some children that found themselves in a day, in a rain of small balls like toys and cards, and rapidly finding that they can actually play with them, in matches and have fun. "Bakugan brawl!" is the iconic phrase in every boy'shead. Characters awesome, story miraculous, art and sounds not that interesting, as it was a 2000's anime, but enjoyment will forever remain 10/10, just for the special that it has inflicted in every child's heart that has watched it, even now
This anime gives me an immense feeling of nostalgia because it is the first anime I've ever seen in my life Watching this show as a kid brings back memories of how much I enjoyed watching it. It truly was amazing to my 7 year old self However, if you watch the anime when you're older or look at it upon further inspection and critique you realize that the show was just mediocre Being older I have more experience in really good shows and now that I look at this show again It isn't as good my 7 year old self thought Art design is very bland and storyisn't that bad, but it does borrow a lot of aspects from other anime. It lacks originality and for that I give it a 6
Aaaahhhhh nostalgia. Honestly the only reason I watched this anime XD I don't know how there are so many reviews giving this anime a ten it honestly sucks lol. This is like, the Spiderman (the original trilogy) of anime. Let's jump into some pros. So the story is kind of creative. Obviously the coolest thing about the anime is the merch. Those little balls that open up on cards are super cool and are a blast to play with. This show is very funny in the way that Spiderman is. As in, the cringe, the nonsensical lines and scenes that you get from the characters are soridiculously cheesy that they're funny. I guess? This anime is still really confusing. Everything else is really bad. Just watch the OP and you'll understand why the story is so trashy. The animation is awful, the characters don't move naturally, the design is way too loud, and sometimes their faces look like pancakes. I mean I know this is 2007 but COME ON PEOPLE. Cardcaptor Sakura came out 10 years before this and its animation is still better. The sound is bad. The soundtrack is just meh and the opening themes and ending themes are... well... the same. AND THEY'RE BOTH BAD. I don't know about the original audio but the dubbing sucks. No offense to the Canadians but they DO NOT know how to dub anime. I'm not going to dock points for bad dubbing though (if I did that AoT would have like a 4). When it comes to characters the protagonist is annoying. All the characters get on my nerves and their behavior is pretty strange and inconsistent. Also the Preyas evolution scene was weird. Overall this anime exists? Feel free to not watch it. I only watched it for the nostalgia factor and if you haven't already seen it as a kid you probably won't enjoy it. I'm not really taking this review seriously so it's not as thought-out and refined as some of my other ones. I just wasn't really planning on reviewing this anime lol. But whatever, if you want some better reviews check out my review page. That's all for now, bye guys! Sincerely -Kallocarina
Story: 9/10 I gave the story a 9 because I found the story to be engaging and fun to watch. The reason I didn't give it a ten is that I found that after episode 40 the story became dull and a bit boring. Character: 10/10 I gave the characters a ten because they made the series enjoyable. Although all the characters are stereotypes of something, each character is unique from each other. My favorite character is Masquerade. He was just amazing every time he showed up. Enjoyment: 9/10 I gave enjoyment a 9 because I enjoyed the show almost all the way through, except for a few moments. Overall:9/10 But overall, I believe that you should give this anime a try. I think it's worth your time and you'll enjoy it.
Well Bakugan the first series was an ok series to watch. Even though Dan and Drago seemed to be like the Pokemon Ash and Pikachu. It feels like it is nothing but pokemon and Yu-gi-oh blended together as one to create this series. But The main villian was one of the best villians I seen in a while. This series does make the charcaters grow up a bit to understand their flaws. The finale felt like a great one if they didn't jump to a new series which throws off some whom thought the series was over. Overall I think it is an ok seriesif you are bored or something then watch this series. it may not be the best but it does ease some tenseness.
Bakugan Battle Brawlers was a huge part of my childhood, so that is the first reason why I gave it such a high score. The second reason was that behind the "Pokemon-ish" themes of combat and nostalgia lay an awesome story. The series may have existed just to sell toys, it did a very good job at that. The Battle Brawlers were likeable and relatively well-rounded for characters sticking to archetypes. The Bakugan themselves were also interesting, with relatively decent world building of Vestroia. The combat system was engaging and I'm impressed by how organized the community was in laying down the rules of battle (they evenhave the technology). There were also some dramatic stakes as losing caused some consequences. Sure those consequences aren't as huge as more dramatic shows, but there is still a loss from losing. What I found impressive was that for a show that began in 2007, it was spot on in portraying how online communities could form friendships. The Battle Brawlers were online buddies who shared the same interests in Bakugan until they were finally able to meet each other in person. It's just so touching. The art and animation were retro, but nonetheless okay. The English voice performances were well executed (I only watched the dub in Cartoon Network). Overall, this is a gem for a show that most likely exist to sell toys.
