Saotome Kazuya is a computer whiz. One day his friend Nanbara, threatens him with a computer virus. Trying to stop the virus, Kazuya ends up making a special order. May is a cyberdoll that arrives at his door a few minutes later and she is 1/6th the size of a normal person, which makes for many awkward situations. Not to mention the fact Kazuya can't even afford to keep May. Cyberdyne is not satisfied with Kazuya's non-payments and will do anything to retrieve CBD May. (Source: ANN)

I personally loved this anime + the OVA (For some reason it counts as episode 11) The only reason i'm giving the story a 6 is because it didn't get too dramatic until the second half of the series. the sound was just phenominal (sorry can't spell that) The Opening theme and Ending theme really gave it that extra push! A Recommendation for all Harem / Ecchi Fans out there!
For being such an old anime I surely did enjoy it. It's pretty much your typical harem anime, except it's with Cyber Dolls. The synopsis did a pretty good job explaining the first episode. One of Kazuya's enemies (who is pretending to be his friend) gives him a CD with a virus on it. But the virus unintentionally leads him to a cyber-doll website where he accidentally orders a cyber doll called May. May turns out to be a tiny little maid that has limited battery power. After a day or so, the delivery person comes back and requests Kazuya to pay 1.45 million Yenas payment for receiving the Cyber Doll. And that's where it all begins. Story: The story was pretty good. It's definitely not your ordinary harem plot for all the women to fight over one guy, but inevitably it had drama in it and it did make a guy like me cry a couple times. Romance was definitely a part of this series and I applaud the creators of this great series. Art: Well, the art is a bit older, but I was amazed to see the clouds in the Typhoon episode had colors that not even my modern graphics card could display. Otherwise the art was typical of the time it was made. It wasn't child like chibi stuff and it wasn't too realistic, it had it's own flow that sat really well with the series. Sound: As a musician I tend to hear the music more than other people do. The OST does have a few romantic songs in them that I wouldn't mind getting, but overall the music matched perfectly with the moods throughout the entire series. Sound Effects were not bad and didn't lag in any way. Character: Each character is something you would see in animes in the current day. A shy maid, a teasing researcher, a gluten, an energetic mom, a violent childhood friend, a constantly complaining friend, a shy guy who can't choose between anyone and a daring little girl. All typical if you look at modern anime's. This series to me was one of the first to have done this and was likely the one to shape most harem anime's proceeding it. All the characters felt unique in their own way and had lots of their own purposes. Enjoyment: This was definitely an enjoyable anime. At times it made me laugh to the point I couldn't breath or to the point I was going to throw up and it also made me cry a few times. It definitely had the romance that I was looking for and the harem fighting didn't go overboard at any time. Overall: I give this anime a 9/10. It was very romantic with some drama, it was a heavenly slice of life with beautiful Cyber Dolls and charming nerds. However, the only thing I do not like about this series, is that one of the characters constantly yells. It reminded me of Girls Bravo where one of the male characters not only fondles all the women, but constantly screams his head off, which is why I probably gave Girls Bravo a lower rating.
This show is all about moe. The story is nothing special by any means, its mostly just one of the "day to day life" of the characters with random things happening here and there. Most of the enjoyment in this show comes from the relational battles and character interactions, and of course everything being uber moe. The art is done pretty good, all the characters look well done. There aren't a whole lot of scene changes so there isn't a whole lot of backgrounds or moving animation sequences but for what there is, it all looks good. Lots of bright and happy colors tokeep everything in an upbeat mood for the most part. As for the characters themselves, they all seem to have quirky things about them that makes them interesting, with the exception of the main character being the typical harem guy figure. The sound is good. For the cyber doll effects, they did a cute job with the various sound effects of the robotics and other little misc things of the sort. The sound track is nice and happy as with the flow of the show. I have seen both the dub and sub, and for sure go with the sub, not only do the voices in english not really portray the characters as well, but the girls just sound so much cuter in japanese, and that is what this show is all about. Overall an average yet enjoyable watch. Since there is a lack of plot for most of the show, they try to throw in some emotional events and surprises at the end but it doesn't make up the lack everywhere else. Dont strain yourself to see this show, but dont completely ignore it.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILS Hand Maid May This one was a lot of fun to watch. Kazuya, our main character of the anime starts getting cyber dolls one by one forming a harem by the end of the anime and a whole lot of fun starts to occur. I went into Hand Maid May because I wanted to watch some ecchi and Hand Maid May delivered, but only slightly; we have pantsu shots and bouncing breasts for more of the show and in the beginning, there is skin shown, but aside from that, not much going on in the ecchi category. The story actually caughtme by surprise. I didn't expect much to happen in Hand Maid may, I was expecting a slow slice of life about a hand maid and the issues that may happen with a small maid, but the twist when May has her memories and data transferred into a normal sized body was really really nice. I also didn't expect a harem to be formed at all. Kazuya was a little too passive, I would have preferred if something actually happened. I did like how there was a story and plot for the most part, it made sense for the most part, but the future/past characters and plot line addition was a little wild and not really necessary. The anime is entirely funny though, it's a good comedy that should get several nice laughs and a lot of smiles. For the girls, we have Rena, a super adorable, mega cute loli. Kei, a super extra smart girl who wears cute glasses and has beautiful long hair. Kasumi, Kazuya's neighbor, a really pretty girl who takes care of Kazuya. Mami, who says "ara ara" all the time (really cute), has large bouncy breasts and is good at everything you could think of and lastly Sara, a foxy girl who loves to eat tons and tons of ramen while wearing an erotic Chinese dress. Art Style is nice, even if the anime aired way back in 2000. The animation was good and the way everyone was drawn is really nice, even if a little simple. I can't say there was a lot of detail in the environments and things of that nature, but for a show from 2000, I can't exactly fault it. I enjoyed the way it looked and that's what matters. Sound design was actually good. A lot of songs and BGM that took place made sense, most of the songs were really good upbeat songs, but there were some slower paced music. The OP and ED are both fantastic, with the OP being really upbeat and happy, almost makes you want to sing along! The ED is slower and more calming, a nice relaxing song to calm the spirits down. I enjoyed Hand Maid May a lot, but I think for an ecchi comedy, it was.... well it could have been better. I would have honestly preferred it if Hand Maid May was a 4-6 episode OVA hentai or something...... What we ended up with was good though, if you're looking for a fun and cute anime to watch, this could be it, but if you really hate MC's that get all shy and nervous around girls, probably not for you; Kazuya always blushes and stutters and gets all ditzy around the girls so...a little annoying. Ara ara... =)
It’s rather cute in a way, though full of fan service. They do a lot of panty shots along with dressing scenes. Because of this, I wasn’t able to get fully into the story line like I wanted but it also didn’t seem to know exactly what it wanted to do. I felt the story went all over the place until they finally figured out something to do at the end. The poor guy ends up getting a cute girl that will help him with everything he needs. I have never actually been fond of the story line but at least I could stand thisone. It’s a standard harem, where the main character is pretty much a standard nerd that doesn’t stand out and yet all the girls love him. Seriously, the only thing that is different about Saotome is that he’s good with computers and even then, he wasn’t able to figure out that there was a virus on the CD that was given to him. Clearly he isn’t all that smart. The girls are pretty and reminds me of Chi a lot from Chobits although these girls can actually keep a conversation going. The characters are over simplified and generic. Kazuya is a nerd, who pretty much never had a girlfriend, yet all the girls that see him seem to be drawn to him; Kasumi Tani is a bitchy tomboyish girl that seems to not care if her panties are showing or not with how short her skirts are; and I had to sweet drop when Nandara showed up. He is really flamboyant and over the top. It seems whenever a rich guy shows up, they are like that in these shows. Most of this is very stereotypical of these shows. I’m not really sure about Doraemon’s name and look. He looks like a Digimon and the name is like that as well. The voices are somewhat annoying in the English dub. I don’t quite like some of the girl’s voices; they are a little too high pitch sounding. In the Japanese, it seemed better though not by much. I do like Nandara, Doraemon, and Kazuya’s voice, Doraemon’s rather more then anyone else’s. It’s just perfect for an android or robot. The music is way too cutesy for me, and sometimes seems not to fit the show sometimes. I think a little more techno would work better. All in all, not the best show in Japanese, worse in English I feel.
This is a charming, but weird show. It's very "of its time". That is to say, I can't remember watching a show that screams 1990's/early 2000's anime this much since Pokemon. Despite never growing up with this show, I felt strangely at home with it. But it has not aged well. You need to go into this show wanting to see an anime that embodies all of the 90s. Otherwise what you'll find is a show with pretty terrible animation, and a barely coherent story. While you can tell there was love and care put into this show, the creators had to of been just startingout. The budget was clearly not there, and they definitely tried to fit too much of the source material in their limited timeframe. What you end up getting is a jumpy mess with some of the editing. The characters are all tropes, except the main "antagonists", or I guess foils would be a better term. They're like Jessie and James from Pokemon, but if they just did a bunch of crystal meth. At first I couldn't stand the guy one of the duo, but now I kinda think he's the best character. He's literally the only thing I'm probably going to remember about this show - He's insane. So should you watch it? Well, do you wanna be instantly transported back to the 90s/early 2000's? Then yes. Otherwise there are a million other shows worth watching.
I really want to say that this movie is not very good because the details in the movie move too fast but it is easy to understand. but that was a big mistake, because not fully exploited the character as personality, the past leading to the film is not attractive. now it's not so good when it comes to the plot because it moves too fast like in episode 5 you will see May being withdrawn by the company and can't show many satome character expressions and then May is returned and becomes an adult. ,although coming of age makes me feel quite attractive, but in the end until volume 8. I don't understand what the author is thinking. my brain doesn't work while watching episode 8, it's so logical that even scientists can't figure it out, while leaving the ladder outdoors why don't we leave the ladder indoors instead, it makes me lose iq. But in summary, the plot is quite good, but not tight and not attractive The character's voice acting is quite invested, so I give it 7 points The character part is the most telling, because the character has not been fully exploited and happens so quickly that your IQ has not yet increased but the movie is over. And the villain deserves more criticism than praise. Why? because it annoys me every time I watch it, Because the villain is quite retarded, talks a lot, doesn't do anything useful, so it leads to things that are not very interesting. The rest is still normal. The level of entertainment is indisputable when it was produced in 2002-2003 because at that time the author's imagination did not have many ideas to develop anime, so 2002-2003 was the time when the anime was quite popular with its humor. fun. But so far, the film has been forgotten and not appreciated because the character is too bad by today's youth standards, because now viewers want to see the series with beautiful characters, good ideas. Overall, I think this movie is just for entertainment, but in fact, this movie has no meaning to life and doesn't help children learn anything. And this movie needs improvement in plot, characters and more to edit
