After an airplane crash during a school trip, Oribe Mutsumi and her classmates were stranded on a seemingly deserted island. Mutsumi found the other survivors, and used her wilderness knowledge to help them. She expects that they will be rescued in about three days, which doesn't seem so long to endure. However, she didn't account for the fact that the island is populated with gigantic killer insects. Her knowledge of butterflies, wasps, and more may be the only thing that will help any of her classmates survive to be rescued! (Source: MangaHelpers)

Way back in 2014, I joined MAL and wrote my first review for a shitty OVA called MD Geist. I've now just logged my 1,000th completed anime, proving that I spent WAY too much time watching Chinese cartoons over the course of my life. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than by reviewing the shittiest anime of the last couple years. The Mars of Destruction for the 2020 decade. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you "The Island of Giant Insects"!!! Island of Giant Insects is a throwback to the "Lost World" genre of fiction that was popular in the 1800s and early20th century. At that time, there was no satellite mapping and we were still making discoveries. Europeans encountered the Komodo Dragon for the first time in 1910 and were absolutely shocked that such a creature could exist. In the late 1800s, an American explorer reached an unmapped area of Afghanistan and claimed to have discovered the descendants of Alexander the Great's army, still worshipping the Greek Pantheon. Eventually we learned the Nuristanis are actually an Indo-Iranian people and were practicing a form of Hinduism, but papers reported them as lost Greeks for decades. Back then, it was almost believable that somewhere in the Pacific, an island with dinosaurs or other cool creatures existed. The idea of an undiscovered island just off the coast of Japan in the year 2020 is pretty silly. A high school class's plane crashes on our undiscovered tropical island and the students wake up miles apart because I guess the plane broke up in mid air. It's never established how the fuck they managed to survive. Most of these characters are unbelievably stupid and exist solely to provide fanservice and then die. The only exception is a young entomologist who exists to inform the audience what species all the insects must have mutated from. For example, several classmates are sucked dry by blood sucking butterflies that apparently belong to Papilio maackii, a common Japanese butterfly species. They could have just had giant mosquitos, but decided for some reason to choose butterflies. I did a little research and there is a single member of the Lepidoptera order that has evolved a proboscis to pierce human skin and drink blood. That species is Calyptra thalictra, the Siberian Vampire Moth. Unlike the writers of this show, I learned how to use the internet. I guess this show doesn't want to be educational. The manga is straight up porn and exists in the guro genre. Girls get penetrated by parasitoid wasps, which lay eggs inside of them and they get eaten alive by the larva. Lots of stuff like that. The anime doesn't dare be so graphic, so it's a completely unsatisfying ecchi. The guro hounds won't be happy, general audiences won't be happy, nobody is happy. You will IMMEDIATELY notice that the cgi in this series is laughably awful. Even if you were deathly afraid of insects, this series becomes a comedy the moment our antagonists show up. This anime is the first and only product of the mysterious Studio Red Ice. I can't find a lot on these guys. All search results just bring up a Neo-Nazi youtube channel that accrued 200,000 subs before being taken down for allegedly inciting domestic terrorism. I'm pretty sure this anime isn't related, but what if the CGI is so bad because it's some kind of Psy-op perpetrated by Nazis?! This anime is certainly an act of terrorism against standards and good taste. The soundtrack seems convinced that this is Doom. Sadly, it isn't. Is there any reason to watch Island of Giant Insects? Sadly...not really. It's pretty hysterically bad, but never reaches the jaw dropping lows of Mars of Destruction. If you're looking for gore, you can do FAR better than this shit. If you want quality ecchi, you've definitely come to the wrong place. This is the first non-hentai I've reviewed in a long while that truly deserved its 1 rating. I have nothing positive to say about this anime. Fuck you Island of Giant Insects for wasting an hour of my life!
Here we have a "horror" movie that was not really a horror movie. It was more like Highschool of the Dead: Survival Island with big bugs instead of zombies. Story: 3 The story was pretty straightforward and have been at most a 5, but absolutely nothing happened and there was not a decisive ending. A problem was introduced, and there were no hints whatsoever that a solution was close in reach. So, if you are looking for a movie with an exposition, climax, and resolution, then this is defiantly not it. Art: 2 Everything about the art for this movie was dreadful. The horror aspect, the big bugs, lookedmore laughable than terrifying which in my opinion switched this instantly from a horror to a comedy. Plus, there were times when the bugs switched from 2D to CGI, and there was also a time when they forgot to draw the MC's (bug lover girl) eyebrows! Ugly inconsistencies to go along with the laziness of this movie. Sound: 3 There is not really anything to say about the sound, but still did not help improve the film. Therefore, it gets a poor rating. Character: 3 Oh man, this could have easily been a 1 or 2, but I actually liked the bug loving girl, the class rep, and the softball captain. They were good characters that complemented the "intention" of the movie. However, all the other characters were ignorant, annoying, and hurt the movie's quality much more than help. It seemed like the writer purposely made large portion of the characters annoying to make you enjoy the movie less which was a pain. Enjoyment: 4 Regardless of all the bashing, the enjoyment was ok. There was ecchi and comedy at me laughing at how dumb the characters were for getting into danger by ignoring the bug lover girl's warning. But beyond that, there was nothing else to enjoy Overall: 3 It was a poor movie. I only enjoyed what the movie was not meant to be and very few characters, but this did not make up for everything else. Do not watch this expecting anything redeeming or good because you will be disappointed.
This was an outstanding movie...that is if you like bugs...and...plot. IMO, this movie was very enjoyable because of how horrible it was. Story: 5 I like the concept of it. just poor delivery Characters: 2 I only liked two characters out of the whole series. That's why i gave characters a 2. I found non of the characters to be really interesting at all.Art: 5 Nice animation. just bad CGI Overall: 2 This is one of those movies that you would watch if you were completely bored and had absolutely nothing else to watch. However, This movie was very funny because of how bad it was and I hope there is a second movie.
Warning - Hella spoilers. Not that it matters, this was a dumpster fire of an anime. The source I watched this from had 5 minutes of credits. I would never put my name on this anime. I'd rather eat my own head. Welcome to my review. Hell. Lets just get on with it. Characters - you have a random chick who knows everything about bugs because ... a mantis landed on her one time, and now she learned everything. Sick. you have a douchebag guy for some reason. Cool. You have a douchebag girl for some reason. Ok. She sucks all throughout. At least DBGuy had one redeeming feature! He caredabout one dude. That was cool. The rest of the cast are useless. like nipples on men. Useless. story - Everyone is together in an airport yoink everyone is on an island. No real explanation. They say their plane crashed, but no crash was animated. Nothing at all there. Yoo hoo. Apparently there are big ass insects. They eat humans. Gr8. Luckily ms. insect knowitall is here to tell you how to deal with that. They wind up in a place where ticks are not only easy to see, but are the size of kittens apparently. Yet they need to undress and get into the water to drown the cat sized ticks. Why. who knows. Fanservice x 10? Yes. There are tiddies in this. Might be the only thing keeping this movie from being ranked in the negatives. Anyway. Nothing happens for a while. they stumble into a bunker, bug chick figures out how to kill a big ass fly, and everyone is happy. Woo! The end. Literally. Art - Terrible. Lots of sloppy animations. Background characters are inanimate (try not blinking for 20 seconds. or moving, or reacting at stuff happening around you.) Sound - For some reason, there's a literal 2 minute segment where MC. Mc buggypants is walking to a sick guitar riff. No reason why but I guess that was pretty cool? Not really. It was irrelevant to everything and felt like the studio was trying to "up" her badassitude, which... didn't work. Otherwise, sound is pretty irrelevant here. Enjoyment... I mean. if you can scoff at it being a "horror" anime and laugh at instead at how awful it is. it could very well be a solid 4. It's so bad it's hilarious. I don't remember watching anything this bad that was trying to be something different. But this takes the cake in a big way. It's so bad it's good. but not how it was trying to be. Is irony important? If so, this is great. If not. Eh... Honestly. This show was a dumpster fire. Emotions were shallow. Art was bad, the story was pathetic at best. Characters were boring and predictable. I'd rather watch the platelet song for 10 hours than watch this 1 hour 16 minute failure again. I'd like to score it for being so bad it's good, but when i think that someone green lighted this and thought it was a good idea... I couldn't rate it ironically. This was someone's "good idea". That's bad. We need less "good ideas" like this. ~Raziel
Possible spoilers: You sometimes people just don't know when an animated movie such as this would be this good, cu'z who can blame them when those kind of people only have ecchi, isekai and harem in the helm of their heads, so no more BS, this is how I rate this movie: Story-Good 7: Ok, this was suppose to be "HORROR" but it ain't that scary, rather, it was annoying as in annoyingly "Not bad" when we see that the real threat to the group of survivors was with each other than the giant insect. Ok, so this was the usual with High School of the Dead, but not here when we see them overcome the dangers that they encountered despite the group's strange bedfellow situation, and yes, I can say that this wasn't that bad, when we see some death flags. So, even if original creator, Fujimi, Yasutaka, hasn't made any good manga works, this can take the cake. Art-Very Good 8: When we're taking about the fanservices and the boob flashes around, the best one would be with the big boobed bitch Jinno, Mirei, where I pretty sure them doggies where wink winking their winkies, and if you've read the manga then you'll know that she takes the cake. Sound-fair 6: Frankly I don't care as who did who, all I know was that the voices sounded too matured to be a teeny booper. Character-Good 7: Ok let's go over each of the characters, not including those who died earlier, l'll divide them to those whom were suppose to be dead and those who should live. Should be dead: Kamijo, Atsushi- He one asshole of a delinquent who wants to dominate the group, but unfortunately, he's gangster boss attitude was basically doesn't fit in a situation where survival is the name of the game when faced with dangers that would make a harded gang boss pee in his pants and quite frankly, he is basically one gang boss wannabe whos more bark than bite and would more likely save himself by sacrificing his gang to them giant man eating insects. Jinno, Mirei- She's basically a bitch whose survival mode doesn't fit the situation, where she is in, to put it simply her being a whore would've have been good if she is in the streets , but her in a desolated island with giant man eating insects???? No good, in fact she should've been the one to die in place of Inou, Ai. Miura Mami- IMAO, she should not have been allowed to live, since she more like excess baggage than an asset, the only thing that she served was more like a damsel in distress where she rely allot on the lesbian softball captain Matsuoka, Ayumi. Should live: Oribe Mutsumi- Yep there is no arguing there , she has the smarts and guts, but unfortunately, I kinda hate that she let's herself being bullied by that bitch, Jinno. Matsuoka, Ayumi- IMAO, she basically has the guts and the determination after all she is a captain of her school's softball team, but I kinda hate that she let's herself be manipulated by an excess baggage loser Mami. If any of you had read the manga then you'll know that she died protecting her. Naruse, Chitose- Ok, so as the class rep, she can be quite useful in putting others to their proper places and would be willing to trade her life for any one of her group, too bad her leadership skills wasn't much of any used in putting the delinquent Kamijo and the evil whore Jinno in their proper places. Hate to say it, but she more like an Oribe groupie than anything else. In the grey: That would be Kazuhiko Kai, at first he was this Kamijo groupie where he act like an ass, but later on realizing how much of an asset Oribe can be, he becomes her groupie........or maybe he isn't what he was suppose to be, since given that he did went to the bio hazard lab, where he stumbles onto something, I'm pretty sure those who read the manga would know that he's an insect who has taken the form and memories of Kai, and he's a means to an end to spread destruction on to the world outside of the island, in fact, it was very clear that island wasn't just any desolated island, it was more like a research lab where something when wrong and the test subjects, in this case them giant insects, went amuck and started to attack them humans in that island. There is also, Inaho Enoki, whom we saw in the closing credits where we can conclude that she was part of the team who did some experiments in that island and just like Kai, she too could be an insect in a human form. Enjoyment- Good 7: Enjoyable as it was, it was kinda disappointing that this has to have an opening ending and that this was more of a one time deal. Overall- Good 7: Good as it was, it was unfortunate that it was limited as a movie, where as a series this would have been awesome.
I watched the subbed version and got curious on how bad it actually looks like. The movie was fairly good and I don't understand what made the score so low. The story itself is simple and straightforward and maybe a bit lacking on some content but still it still tells the story. It didn't exaggerate on some details and causes it to move too quickly especially on transitions between different parts of the story. The art was clean and simple with the exceptions on CGI since I personally don't like CGI. The artwork is not extremely emphasized and is done to be simple which is really notthat bad. The characters were straightforward and premises were simple enough to be understood. They have their own charms and flaws based on how the story wants it to portray. Overall, personally, I really enjoyed the movie and would have been better if it was adapted to a series.
Animation: 1/10 Character Design: 2/10 Main Story: 1/10 Secondary Character Development: 1/10 Heroine: 2/10 Protagonist Development: 1/10 Overall Rating: 1 (Without looking at the original) Kyochuu Rettou Movie is a film adaptation that fails in almost every aspect, delivering a disappointing experience for horror and survival fans. Starting with the story, the plot is extremely weak and predictable. The premise of a group of people trapped on an island infested with giant insects had the potential to be exciting, but the storyline is poorly developed and lacks originality. The lack of explanation about the origin of the insects and the absence of any depth in the characters make it difficult to care aboutwhat happens to them. Furthermore, the film is riddled with typical horror movie clichés, such as stereotypical characters, uninspired dialogue, and predictable plot twists. The perilous situations are exaggerated and unconvincing, leaving the viewer more bored than scared. The animation also leaves much to be desired. The designs of the giant insects are generic and unimpressive, while the action scenes are poorly choreographed and executed. The lack of fluidity in the movements and the low quality of the animation sequences contribute to the feeling that the film was produced with little effort. The soundtrack is another weak point, with generic music that fails to create the necessary atmosphere of tension for a horror film. Instead, the tracks feel out of place and do not integrate well with the scenes. Moreover, the film is excessively violent and contains scenes of sexual abuse that are gratuitous and unnecessary for the plot. These disturbing elements add nothing to the story and only serve to further alienate the audience. In summary, Kyochuu Rettou Movie is a disastrous adaptation that fails to offer an engaging narrative, interesting characters, or even a satisfactory horror experience. Avoid this film at all costs unless you're looking to waste your time and patience.
Don’t watch this movie. Just don’t. It’s not worth your time. It’s basically Jurassic Park if it had everything good taken out of it and swapped the dino’s with bugs. And added boobs. That’s legit all this movie is. The characters are bland and lack any form of.. well character.. The voice acting is so so for some parts and just horrible for others and the animation? Euugh Literally in one part of the movie (not a spoiler) main girl walks for like 5 minutes straight to some copyright free music while they reuse the same 3 shots over and over. Now slight spoiler for the ending (spoileralert there is none!!) Zero satisfaction in the ending. Overall 1/10 worst movie i’ve seen in a while
Is this movie good - like by the definition of how we as people judge storytelling, animation, and art? No. It is not. Not even close. Before I wrote this review for this movie, I read through what others had to say, and next to none had anything to say about the ethereal experience the ENGLISH DUB version of this movie is. If you have at all heard of the tales of the ludicrous Ghost Stories Dub, then you’re in for another experience with this one. While perhaps not as out there and shocking as the Ghost Stories Dub, this movie never failed to makeme choke with the lines the English cast deliver. I genuinely recommend anyone to watch the DUB over the SUB. In the world of anime where doing so can be seen as a sin, I promise you this movie has no substance to provide for you in its native language. You can only obtain anything of value, the microcosms of joy, if you were to watch the DUB.
Skip this at any cost. Not only is it terrible, until now I thought I was watching a bad movie from schoby doo. We spent the first 10 minutes of the movie watching a bee slap. The eternal planes of face focuses are never ending. Immediately after, the protagonists leave on a trip and not knowing how they crash on an island with giant insects. Now it all comes down. The movie is low on budget, but everything it does is wrong. The characters have the same empathy and emotion as a stone. They feel very artificial for their situation. Art and design are thoseof an average anime. CGI is the worst of all. Even more than fish with legs in gyo. The insects are glued on top of the drawing. You can't feel like a character because they just don't have emotions. If a character dies, after 2 minutes it will be forgotten. There is no brain, there is no reaction! So... there is no terror. They don't feel like people. Everything is wasted. Now to all, add the fetish fanservice with insects and sexual provocations of all kinds. And what destroys its constant need to make each death as a pleasant violation. I could say more, but it doesn't make sense. Burn this.
Watch this dubbed. They knew the movie was bad and ran with it. The dub elevates it from normal trash to funny, bad horror movie trash. Not all of the jokes are great, and there can be a lot of pointless swearing at times, but it is far better than watching it subbed. I watched this immediately after watching the OVA, which doesn’t have a dub. The OVA is just a sequence ripped from the movie, so it isn’t worth your time. However, it made for a great comparison, as there is pretty much no comedy in the sub at all and it just takesitself way too seriously. The dub knows what the movie is, and has a funny self-awareness that the original lacks. You should skip out on this movie if you despise dubs or bad horror movies. Otherwise, you will most likely have a fun time watching this.
[No-Spoilers] Wow, they finally animated this piece of art. Now how can it go wrong... The simple explaination to put, its a Train-wreck from beginning, and I have no clue Passione Studio even care to begin with. In first 5 minutes is enough to understand how the series will goes on. Yes I have read the manga, its basic-ly a homage of horror zombie series where whole town is invaded but instead of zombies, it was big-ass bugs and stranded in Island. And also kills humans. Story is OK but it seems like this movie have been butchered out by even more Fan-Service and unnecessary unanimated sections. Character, ohno, they have voice now. Its getting even annoying. Art? Oh dear. I think this is the reason why I give 1. 3D for bugs and stuff, I'm fine with it but it just "odd". It doesn`t even blend at all. And 2D however, sometimes art goes inconsistence, sometimes people face got distorted, and sometimes the panning goes even weird. This is a "Movie". But wow how they butchered so much. The manga looks even better than this. The only thing they saved for the grace is how much effort they animate "lewd" content, while the rest of it is like 2006 anime. 2/10
Honestly thought this was gonna be a series from the initial trailer. And not gonna lie, it looked like it could have been interesting. The premise sort of reminded me of "Lost", but not only was that not the case, it was just terrible. Such a shame, I see potential in something like this to be an interesting horror and survival show, but no. Forget that, let's have not do anything creative with this idea and try something new, let's make it just like one of Syfy's "original" movies about some giant whatever-thing and have hot chicks in it with terrible CGI!
January leaves us possibly one of the worst anime movies of the whole year. To summarize the film, it could be done in a phrase "Disastrous in all aspects" To begin, we have a cast of characters that are more useless, brave and cliché than you can find within the world of anime. Then we see a story that well taken can be interesting However, this film chooses to show us scenes, characters and moments that end up in the air without leaving anything clear about the story and creating even more holes in the story that do not have An apparent logical explanation. Along with all this, this film offers several scenes with a fanservice and a totally unnecessary ecchi, together with the relationships between characters that end up being something totally ridiculous at many times. To conclude, an ending where the protagonist along with another character (the only one useful in the whole movie) solve the problem they have at the end while the rest of the characters continue to do what they have done throughout the movie, cry, shout, complain and above all, disturb the viewer. Nor forget my favorite scene of the movie, a walk of the protagonist just before the end through an unnecessarily long corridor. Let's not talk about the CGI of the movie, that is already a separate issue, along with the censorship that in certain scenes the black bands get to cover half of the screen. As it is understood, it gives rise to a continuation. I don't know if the manga will be at the level of this movie although I would like to believe that it is infinitely superior. Encourage anyone who wants to despair watching "this"
Was a fantastic story and deserves better reviews! Anyone who dislikes this movie shall be banished to the underworld. The character development was amazing and I really felt when she killed the insect. It hit me hard because I have an ant farm at my house and I love them dearly. The scene in the water was very well done and deserves more praise because of how it really affected the story. The CGI was AMAZING! Never seen insects look better! The insect facts in the movie was a great touch and it made lots of sense on what they did to counteract them. Iwatched this movie with 4 of my friends and all of us had similarly large boners when the water scene came on. This moment has brought us closer as friends and will be a cherished memory in my heart. Lastly the scene where the guy had the parasite was amazing because whoever was the voice actor did a fantastic job at making the insect sounds. I really felt like he had a parasite and I now know how painful it must be. Overall, this movie was a work of art and whoever worked on this should be nominated for every movie award ever made.
This is a good meme of a film. I enjoyed because it was so bad. Dub actually has fun dialogue, so if you're looking for a dumb movie that went into the absurd and a more laid back dub, yeah go for it. as far as the film itself, the characters are a mish mash of stereotypes from horror films and they don't really take themselves too seriously. As in this isn't a movie to watch with deeper meaning or a deep story in general. It is an outlandish concept and threw some characters in it to see how they'd fair. it is definitely not safefor work. note, there is a post credit scene for those who look for those things, not gonna say more, but just saying that it is there.
This is basically a guro (eroticised violence and gore) anime that doesn't go all the way through, although it stops exactly at the 99% point of what can be done without being classified as hentai. To be fair though, that's not exactly the reason it's awful. I've experienced some guro media before and while it's not for me, I at least somewhat understood what they were going for. This one theoretically aims for the B-movie/exploitation vibe but is just so lazy and stupid in its writing that it can't pull off the campy feel of that genre. It's also too kitsch and juvenile to sell itsgore and "scary" moments, they just feel laughably desperate in their tone-deaf edginess. And with ugly CGI added on top of that, it's all a self-sabotaging mix of bad tropes and lazy execution. And if the low-polygon CGI bugs weren't bad enough, like I've mentioned in the beginning, the anime doesn't even fully commit to its fanservice and gore, usually concealing the most graphic stuff with with less revealing camera angles, but sometimes even with straight up censorship (both shadows and light rays obscuring the "interesting parts"). I'd seriously have way more respect for The Island of Giant Insects it was a hentai opening the movie with a 10 minute lesbian sex scene between the entomologist girl and the student council president – it'd actually be way better than the dry opening we got. Even narratively speaking, as it would set up some stakes and connection between the main characters. As it is now, I can't imagine an audience that would be satisfied with this movie. It misses the mark no matter what angle you look at it from. I'd like to claim that it's at least "so bad it's good" in some way, but no, it really isn't. Skip it.
It’s not every day you dread the thing your about to watch but after hearing how bad this film is I though a have a look for myself and after watching it, please don’t. Let’s start with the story, it’s a mess not only is the premise not set up (they happen to be on a plane that oh no happens to crash but all survivors know each other prior anyway) and no context for the whole story is given which means it’s already off to a bad start but things continue to go downhill from here. As the island (for some reason) is home togiant insects that (again of some reason that isn’t explained) like to feed off humans and the survivors are just the tasty treat the insects are looking for. Please bear in mind that explanation of the story premise is more than the story premise that is given in the film. While not dipping into too many story spoilers let’s continue after the opening 5 minutes does nothing all the survivors meet for the first time and no-one seems to care that they have survived a plane crash and are stuck on a desert island let alone fuss about giant human eating insects. What follows is a some really stupid set pieces that don’t really fit in (but oh well) and a largely predicable and slightly boring story. If you think about other survival horror films /games this is many a pick and mix of all of them, that said a crap and unoriginal story can be good if it’s well put together or just a piss take but this is neither. It’s not funny, it’s not funny because it’s stupid and things mostly happen for no reason they just happen. It feels like the main element of the story the giant insects doesn’t fit into the other part of the story, but it was forced in anyway. The tone is all over the place as one moment the film can be slow and a little well thought out to then have an action scene that ranges from abused to absurdly stupid. The fact this film also uses ecchi moments with full nudity and moans of pleasure rather than pain (bordering a hentai at that point). A scene that was also in a uncensored OVA for the film to preview the work half a year before release. Because of the tone all impact the film could have had is lost but on the other hand it’s not funny also due to tone. Character wise it’s a fairly standard cast for a survival horror but this time even more on the nose this time. Theirs the one with all the knowledge, a group of delinquents, the sporty one, someone and the one that gets kill in the opening half hour. Okay that’s no problem but they also extremely stupid too, most of the time (nearly all the time) it’s their own fault and they spend half the time arguing with each other for no reason (I think everyone argued with anyone at some point). So the cast is pain unlikable. Normally I only talk about animation if the show has a unique art style or something stands out, it certainly does. Most the of insects (especially flying insects) are animated in CGI and is done badly. It just a massive contrast to the visuals in the rest of the film and is just crap. Overall it’s just rubbish (all of it) and is a waste of time to watch.
Maybe some minor spoilers? Probably not. Story? a group of people are trapped on an island with giant insects... They try to survive. Great. Story is cohesive enough I never questioned the STORY events maybe but not the story, It fits a horror movie well. 7/10 -As far as I can tell it is based off of a manga designated as Horror-Echi/gore? But Theres not much echii in the movie, which I think actually is a benefit to it, as I would have not watched it had it been a full on H film. Art, I never had any problem with it. The actual anime parts, Excludingthe CGI were well done. The backdrops were great, I legit could say some of them were art. The character designs were pretty good too. 7/10 (CGI is always blatant even when done well.) -Whoever did the greenery on the trails... Perfect job I would consider your foliage art. Yes I did Notice this while watching. Sound, I do not speak Japanese... So the voice acting could be absolute trash and I would not recognize it But i think they all matched their characters well. But Anything that mattered to a titles Reader was well done enough that I did not have to question.7/10 -That wasp sounds nothing like a helicopter. Either those people have no Idea what helicopters sound like or they were delusional after a plane crash and witnessing brutal atrocities. Probably the latter. Characters. The characters are mostly just generic. You got Manipulators, Parasites, innocents, overprotective classmates, and Of course a Bug lover and Aficionado. Which I love the edutainment factor of it. The characters cover Echii, Horror victims, and Edutainment so 9/10 for the genre. -Only complaint here is that they killed Hiker girl too fast. She seemed nice. -1 point. -It should be noted, I actually liked almost all of the characters. Enjoyment? All the way 10/10. This movie is Classic B Tier wonderment. You go in thinking, What can I make fun of here and you will be golden. Then it might get serious. And then you can go back to Laughing at it. I was caught up in the hospital arc, asking questions, What is in there, How are they going to survive? And then the glorious Hallway scene happens, I just broke down laughing over it. Halfway through I was wondering What is the point of this scene, and then I just broke out laughing again over it and I was able to repeat this multiple times before the scene was over and it is just perfection. A few nitpicks. - The soul of this movie is so B level. I can only assume they are doing this on purpose and I would argue it makes me actually like the movie more. -Everything on the island Is practically Pristine. Everything. Like the pathways are not even overgrown, but the Light tower in front of the overly well funded Hospital Is just rusted like none other. It just does not match at all. Ruins my immersion yo. -The science For giant bugs is not there, I mean The only explanation we have gotten is from a high school girl so there is not much to really complain about here? I say this as having read more than 1 Giant insect set media in my lifetime, so I think I know my Giant insect Science! Oh and in case you are wondering.... That stuff with the ticks does happen in real life to animals who can not remove them. Ticks just do not get that big. 8/10 Realism. -2 Because I hate ticks. 7/10 Rated Overall. Would recommend as long as you enjoy Campy nonsense, and can handle a bit of Flashing and gore. I enjoyed this movie and as long as you have a decent sense of humor I think you will too.
