Atrocious pacing, 13 minutes runtime is way too short. Also, the comedy in the anime is not funny at all. Although they are cringe-worthy. Many illogical things happen, such as characters pop out of nowhere, new power-ups gets introduced without explanation, plot armours, overall a disastrous anime. Anime introduces someone, makes them out to be the bad guy but beats him in the next episode itself. Character development is poor. Characters change sides way too easily. Everyone except the main character does not matter. No one else is questioning the OPness of the main character, they just accept it. Also, the main antagonist, in the end, iscontradicting himself way too hard and it made me cringe Skip this one, even if you like power fantasy anime. Just watch 'The daily life of immortal king', another better Chinese power fantasy anime.
Story: I can say that this story so far is very basic. Where the anime is right now there isn't really too much going on that is very captivating. Which is unfortunate as the story does get a lot better the longer you read, and the more arcs go past. Especially the start of the anime, the story was very all over the place, with it being hard to get into at first. Art: Overall the art isn't anything special. Luckily it isn't bad at all, but that doesn't mean it lacks moments where you know that with better animation the whole anime would be better. However, the last fight scene really showed where they put all their work into as compared to all the other fights and scenes that had been shown thus far, it was far and away above the rest. And considering the situation, I am happy that is the case. Sound: There isn't really anything special about the sound choices of this anime, it is all pretty standard and nothing will surprise you but it does do its job and doesn't take anything away from the anime, while also not adding anything of much value, past the mere basics. Character: Some of the characters have a lot of personalities and unlike the normal emotionless MC, Lin Jie isn't like them, showing his emotions. The same with the side characters, they all have decent personalities but there isn't really any backstory, except for a few characters, but even that isn't fleshed out much, leaving them mostly bare bones. Enjoyment: If you like overpowered main character then you will love this anime. Lin Jie is as overpowered as they come, being the hero that appeared and was the strongest 5 years ago he is still the same person now, expect he is a lot stronger. This isn't some complex anime with a convoluted story that will draw you in but when portraying an overpowered main character it does a very good job of making it fun to watch. If that isn't the kind of anime you like I would avoid this as it contains nearly all these stereotypes, even though it does it well. Overall: I gave this anime overall a 7 as while most of it was mediocre, or above average, the genre and main character really boosted this as a whole and made it much more enjoyable to watch than one might think. This is coupled with the fact that I did read the manhua way before the anime was announced so I might hold some bias just because I am seeing scenes that I wished to see animated finally.
Honestly, 12 episodes for this series is too low. In both the manhua and the novel, this is basically just the introduction, setting up a lot of the characters and how they interact. If you're here for an actual complete story, I recommend you read the entire thing instead of watching this. There's just too little runtime in this adaptation to really get things going. As for the animation, I can't praise it enough. Especially during the fighting scenes, this show really delivers and keeps you glued to the screen. The music and sound design really adds well to this. The characters themselves are fairly stereotypical, buttheir powers and personalities are very broad and make for great chemistry, and opens up a lot of room for good jokes, though these are very limited to the anime adaptation. I think this show is best enjoyed after reading the source material, because it's just not enough to be enjoyable on its own in the earlier parts of the story. If multiple story arcs are getting adaptations it may be interesting enough to watch standalone, but for now I wouldn't recommend it.
I start to think that chinese people (at least in anime industry) really hate women, it doesn't matter how strong they "say" a female character is at some point she will be for some dumb reason a damsel in distress or something like. Anyway, the anime itself has a great visual which is common for chinese anime in general and the story is basically the same as all they usually do, OP MC that nobody knows about kicks everyones ass. There is 0 character development for everyone, 0 progression on the main plot itself (if there is one). The comedy is mostly bad, probably chinese culturerelated and other cultures can't relate thus can't really find it funny, but sometimes it do hit the spot. People popup from nowhere sometimes, try to keep up. Like I said on the beginning, at least on my POV the Main Female Character get introduced as a powerfull hero but immediately starts to be abused by antagonists males and need to be saved. If you ever watched a chinese anime you probably knows this story... it's like isekai anime, there are many and just a couple kinks differ from one another, good ones are far between. Overall it can be enjoyed, just don't expect lore, development or complexity from it... just come for the power fantasy. Disclaimer: not english native, hope it all makes sense
People talking too much saying its "simple" or "boring" and its missing "character development" what if these kinds of simple animes are the best ones. I love OP mc and i liked this its underrated go and watch it!! Im trying to make this simple review so people can just go and watch it without me telling them everything but site doesnt allow that i guess so i will say it again go and watch this awesome anime!!!! +fighting is soooo good! I personally didnt enjoy Naruto or One piece fights so much because they talk to much and fire powers at each other butthis mix of hand to hand combat, weapons and powers is the thing me and other anime fans need. I love it so much and i would like to have more animes like this one and im saying it again its UNDERRATED just like scissors seven both are similiar but i guess people have diffrent tastes.
Hello to anyone who is thinking about watching this or has watched it, now in respect to the anime and how long each ep was my judgement is base on my opinion. I have been watching anime for give or take 15+ years and this is definitely a block buster type anime. in relation i would say like one punch man S1 or Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero are probably the closest to it. i have to say the art is amazing for the action, fighting scenes and the characters aren't weird or wonky very clean and appealing look. at some point i thought itwas the same people who did the fight damage art for one punch man s1. aside from that the story is really good compared to the animes I've listed it just seems a little rushed but if you can really piece together what trauma the main character went through to become this way its really good, some people might not agree only because its not laid out in front of them to understand how he is this way but from experience i got the jist. and to be honest if you are into action this anime cuts to the point which is amazing no full ep with just talking about plans etc it would be nice to add some stuff for character development but i'd say you have to be a long time anime enthusiast to understand it but everyone can appreciate the art and action i was sad to find out it was only around 16min per ep but i hope they make more and it has to be one of the best- master piece anime i've seen in a while compared to the stuff they copy and paste these days (((((PLEASE MAKE MORE))))
Zero, the leader of the pioneering hero's party and a legendary figure in the hero society of H City, has gone missing after many years of service. Praised as the strongest hero of humanity, many new heroes aspire to reach his level as they apply for the Hero Association entrance exam. Jie Lin, a typical nobody who wants to join the Hero Association, participates in the entrance exam to become a registered hero. With an unknown background, Jie Lin makes friends as he enters the association and is deployed on missions as a low-rank hero. How does Jie Lin's mysterious persona develop as we delvedeeper into Hero Return? Story & Character: 6/10 Hero Return is your typical superhero series where the main character has a mysterious past that they try to hide behind the facade of a simplistic low-ranking rookie hero. It begins as a sort of exploration-style narrative where we see the heroes deployed on rescue missions, catching underground criminal organizations with rogue heroes. One aspect I wasn't very fond of was the comedy, which strayed the series away from substantial plot development, especially in the beginning. Hero Return does well to orchestrate character dialogue, but it drags the story, slowing down progression. The main story arcs also felt unsubstantial because there is no significant plot structure or overarching milestones that drive the story forward. Instead, we are led by a story inspired by last-minute decisions and spontaneity, distracting the series from a continually built-up development. The story did well with its mysteries despite the pitfalls in other avenues, and it was interesting to learn of the complexity between the large factions of H City and their involvements in the Hero Association. Understanding the connection between the many factions helped with the story's depth. The main character Jie Lin is developed with the most focus, but his character still lacks much depth. Whether that was an approach to enhance the mystery behind his persona or poor management, I won't be able to discern. However, toward the end of the series, his character development picks up, especially with the conflict against one of the major young leaders of H City. The side characters are largely unaffected in terms of development once they are introduced to the series, which also influences their involvement in the series. Many of the characters like Thirteen, Xue, Miss Dong, don't feel like important characters because the only major moments they have in the series are either comedy or rescue/petty sympathy. It doesn't help that the milestone events like missions weren't that prominent and felt more like side events. Despite that, the characters were enjoyable and didn't get too serious. I would have enjoyed less comedic dialogue in favor of a better set of character-worthy events. Art & Sound: 5/10 & 7/10 Hero Return doesn't have leading art and animation in the donghua space, especially during large dialogue scenes. Much of the budget went to the latter duel scenes, and it's obvious because the cinematography and fight choreography were much more breathtaking than the smaller fight scenes against bandits and small-time hero conflicts. What made the animation so good was the attention to detail when it came to impact frames and power moves like Zero's first and second form attacks. Second form Redemption felt very significant, especially with the timing of the move and delays. The series does require attention in the dialogue scenes despite the great attention to detail in the flagship fight scenes because they feel more like a slideshow. Character design and antagonist designs were good and didn't look too cheap, especially the rogue heroes seen in the beginning and end of the series. The sound design made use of a heroic theme song representing the hero Zero, which always played in scenes of conflict against Jie Lin and opposing factions. It grew on me and made the fights more thematically connected. Hero Return's ending theme was also very emotionally invoking. It felt synonymous with series like Monster and Berserk because the beat was slow and more on the mysterious end. Overall & Enjoyment: 6/10 Hero Return does well to unravel a mysterious figure and build up conflict between large factions of H City and the Hero Association. It could have worked more on the antagonism between these factions but followed more of a comical approach as a parody of One Punch Man. Overall, it was a decent watch, just above average given the interesting set of characters, a fairly common hero premise, and complex connections between prominent factions.
It's good but there is issue in how they are story is progressing which seems all over the place. The pacing is mostly the biggest problem since the whole 12 episode was moving fast that it barely focus a plot long enough. It should have slowed down the pace and focus more since this season story with only 12 episodes could have made it to 2 seasons so it can feel more better on the plots pace. The characters are fine too and also be nice to see a better bond of their relationships since the plot was moving forward too fast that it didnot have time to do it and why I believe it should have probably have more than 12 episodes.
