Awesome anime, cant wait for season 2 If you loved grandmaster of demonic cultivation or Tian gu cifu you will also love this Bai is a comedic character at times which lightens the mood, but he can be serious at times and his brilliance comes out. Though he appears to be a goof and incompetent always fleeing from difficult situations, when he is forced to fight - his genius comes out. I love the character development throughout the series, he starts out as fair weak and through hard work becomes OP AF. Overall enjoyed the serie's alot!! defs worth a watch 10/10

The series has quite a bit of drama, as expected from a Chinese show, but it's definitely much less than you would think. It's HILARIOUS. You will laugh throughout watching the whole series. I saw in a review something about romance, so on that note, I would like to say that the ''romance'' part is after epp 48/49 when Bai (main character) changes his appearance because he is now older. Up until few last episodes he has the same appearance. Love drama/romance is showed through elder Song Junwan (an elder of the middle peak of Blood Stream Sect). She falls for him and is annoyed that heis working in other peaks to refine pills.
There is a couple of scenes with them, but it is not so dominant.
Basically, until these last few epps you won't really see much of a romance, maybe here and there some girls who fall in love with Bai Xiaochun.
In the last episode, the ending is definitely showing that there is another season planned (the war and so on).
I didn't read the novel, but I found that Bai Xiaochun will have a couple of wives, so I think that next season/part will have much more romance than this one, because here he is mostly a child, until epp 48/49.
The main character's Bai Xiaochun personality is what makes this show so funny.
He is cunning, he is smart, he is sly, he does have some good intentions, he is not evil, but he does do everything for himself.
He does not plan to hurt others, it just so happens from time to time when he is practicing/refining pills or doing something.
What's interesting is that he has a divine beast from River-Defying sect and as seen in the anime he got himself a demon at Blood Stream Sect.
So he has 2 completely different pets.
He is really strong and capable, also very talented because he got enlightened with many sect secrets from different sects (well, I guess he is the main character for a reason).
Even though he is strong he prefers to act like he's weak and does not like to fight that much or to show off his true strenght.
He is really afraid of death and that's why he is practicing everything connected to imortality.
It's an interesting show and for me, it was really funny!
I started watching somewhere at the beginning around epp 10/12 because I taught it would have 25 epps, but then they changed it to 52.
I am glad that I watched it and I am looking forward to next season.

surprised this is not #1 ONA. character development is amazing; how the MC acts in the early part of the show compliments the development of his strength and character so perfectly it's hard to explain. only thing I can say bad about it is that after thinking I have seen all the best 2d Donghua I found this gem, and after completing it and searching for weeks I feel like I peeked and won't find a better one. every scene has beautiful art, the animation and design of the fight scenes especially during the 2nd half of the season are some of the best I'veever seen. this will be a top 20 series and have been trying to get everyone I know on it! hope this gets at least 10 seasons!:]

NO SPOILERS As a person who binge watched this anime within 4 days, Im telling that this anime is a must watch if you are looking for some good chinese animes.. STORY is decent..It progresses slowly and at a decent pace since the original source material is a novel.. ANIMATION is good at most of the times..and the scenerios looks pretty in this anime..Fight scenes, they did a decent animation which is comparable to most top japanese anime studios.. CHARACTERS are too many..it is hard to remember all these chinese names and details of the sect and its people(something like Clan in this anime)..Otherwise characters are fine..Some were therejust for comedic purposes and some for plot and story..It is a good mix of characters
SOUND and SONGS were lovely and good..It may seem repetitive..But There were no bad sound choices in it..
MAIN PROTAGANIST is the center of the anime..If u dont like his character traits ,you should probably drop the anime..because his character remains the same thoroughout the series...Mostly a comedic person...
He had some OP moments here and there..But dont decide that this is some overpowered protaganist who just face forward by destroying his enemies left and right...Dont expect that a lot...
The anime has its best moments here and there...
ROMANCE moments are slightly prevalent ..but it is too less...Dont expect any romance between main characters..Keep your expectations low..
COMEDY is great for me..But for some people comedic moments in this anime may feel cringe..
OVERALL THIS ANIME IS A GOOD WATCH...(Sry for bad english)
