Finally, it's here! After a long wait of two years, it will continue where it left off. Black Clover is one of the anime series that, at first, you will think, "It is a very long-running anime. I'm outta here." But by any chance or mistake, if you start to watch it, you will get hooked on it, and you will not know when you have completed it. After completing it, you will say, "Nah, I was wrong. It ain't a long-running anime." Then this movie will feel like "a walk in the park." I'm so happy that I got to watch it, and my wait wasnot in vain. Before we proceed more, Asta, "What's with those muscles you got there? What were you doing these past two years? But your voice is still annoying. Don't worry; I can bear it. If I bore it through the whole series, then how can I not?" Story continues where we left off last time. This time, we have a guy with cliché ambitions. A guy who wants to make this cruel world into a peaceful world. Where everyone can live together, laugh together as equals, and whatever else. I'm not surprised, but it's fun to watch. The rest of the story will continue after this movie, maybe in a series. This time, the thing I like is animation. The animation in the series was somewhat lacking—or perhaps even worse. The animation did not hold up properly in fast-paced sequences. So, sometimes it was not fun to watch the series. But "let bygones be bygones." The thing that matters is what we have now. This time, the studio sure spent a lot of fortune to make it that way. The fight between the wizards was insane. Animation was holding itself. So, the best fights this time were not ruined. Overall, I recommend it. Even though you have seen this story and plot in many anime series, the thing that matters is how much better one can make it. Watch it and enjoy it. You sure will have some fun moments. Movie is waiting for you. Thank you, and it's a pleasure that you read it.
A truly wonderful way to execute a movie that isn't Canon Animation - 8.5/10 Sound Design - 8/10 Plot - 6/10 As short as possible ill just say if you're a Black Clover fan then you will surely love this movie! If you aren't, well you may be dissatisfied with it. The Animation was beautiful, compared to what fans of Black Clover are used to this surely exceeded my expectation. However, there were definitely some inconsistencies in the Animation. Stuff like when the camera is panning around Asta in one scene the quality absolutely tanked. Other scenes would have astonishing backgrounds. The sound design was a little inconsistent. Stuff likerock breaking and Yuno getting tossed around reminded me of One Piece sound effects while others (such as Julius or Asta's fight scenes) had really nice sound (in my opinion) The reason I gave it such a low rating in terms of plot is simply because the movie isn't canon; but that's not to say the plot was bad. Stuff like Conrad's background was mostly kept hidden for the majority of the movie. The start of the movie was a little confusing and simply just got right to the point in terms of build-up (Id argue there was no buildup to any of the fight scenes since the entire movie itself is one big fight scene). We never really get an explanation for any of the antagonist's backstories except a quick summarization of Conrad's whole reason for fighting (which in my opinion didn't do his character any justice at all). Overall the movie was enjoyable though, if you're a sucker for Animation you will definitely be satisfied with the fight scenes. If you're someone who focuses on the plot and already don't like the fact this movie isn't canon then you might want to keep your expectations low.
After 2 years of waiting we really did Finally Win!! - Art & Animation 10/10 - Story 9/10 - MAGIC AND BATTLES 10/10 Black Clover Returns with a story set inbetween the time skip and before the events of the spade kingdom Arc! Honestly its forsure worth a watch i can not believe how good black clover is given time and dedication by Perriot and i only pray the anime returns with somewhat close to this level no studio can match Perriot at there PEAK! Story wise i really did wish more backstory was given to the 4 Majour Villians of the story instead of it all being includedin Volume 23.5 which will most likley never get an english release sad times. All in all BLACK CLOVER IS BACK BABY BEST NEW GEN MOVIE!
I don't write reviews but I felt compelled this time. As a fan of the anime and manga , I feel underwhelmed. The animation was a significant improvement from the anime and......that's it! The music and sound are nothing to write home about. The movie starts with a battle and ends with one. The battles are the movie's plot and the movie's plot is its battles. Even a parody anime like One Punch Man has a deeper and more complicated plot. All 4 of the villains have the same motivation, goals and pretty much the same backstory. There is no depth to them. Comingto the fights, they were all over the place with characters shooting huge spells left and right ,more like a brawl than actually thrilling fights which I love the anime for. Not a single memorable moment among all the flashy battles which I would want to replay. Nothing was at stake and as usual nobody died. In the end if you just simply want to turn your brain off and enjoy some cool fireworks then go ahead but don't expect much storytelling.
Eh, it was OK. I did find the high quality, 144 FPS (had to change my monitor refresh rate from 120 to 144 Hz) visuals to be.. interesting. Honestly, didn't see the point, since it looked like a low quality JRPG with 3D visuals than a anime show, but whatever, not a big deal. The issue is with the whole premise, and the fact that after episode 170 of the series, like thousand years ago, they released a movie that doesn't reference the series and is disjointed completely to the point that it makes no sense watching it after the series ended (at-least after EP170). Characters are pre-170,with nothing new happening with them. They are doing what they were doing before, no development, no improvement. You can say Asta did better, but did he? His fight in last few episodes of the actual series against demons is far more exciting than his generic combat against a freaking ex-Wizard King (who even the current one can't defeat, apparently, cause the plot needs him to be stronger). Rest of the cast is just there to do random fights which serve no purpose, especially in their character/skills development as well. I would've rather seen how the NPC's were dealing with the aftermath of series last episode with Asta training to get stronger. A movie dedicated to characters getting stronger would've made more sense than this. Overall, no idea why this movie exists. They could've made a movie to build upon the series plot, but instead they went with a whole lot of nothing. 6/10 - It felt like a filler episode.
The villains in this movie all have a point. They were all victims of the ruling class (royalty, nobility) who killed innocent people close to them, like family, friends, and partners. They all tried to change, reform, and revolutionize the kingdom to eliminate class differences, prejudices, poverty, and discrimination, and they all fell victim to betrayal, punishment, imprisonment, and condemnation. Just like in the series, the heroes need motivation to fight against these villains and maintain the power structures. This is where Black Clover fails miserably. All the antagonists are portrayed as uncontrolled monsters who want to destroy everything, as terrorists, without any judgment of whatis right or wrong, but only an absolute desire for revenge at any cost. It's a reactionary fantasy in which all the evil caused by the ruling class is normalized and considered natural because it follows the law of the strongest, while any reaction, revolution, or rebellion is seen as a violent crime that must be immediately contained and judged. It's pure fascism.
Black Clover has never truly delivered when it comes to animation, but when Perriot has great scheduling and some amazing animators! They can produce a 10/10 masterpiece like this, I truly hope more people join Black Clover after this so the anime can return, thank you Tabata! You will definitely find it fun and enjoyable, the characters interact so well; specifically Asta and Conrad, what a way to end it too! The art style too fits this more effects centric animation, it’s beautiful. Story 8/10 Characters 10/10 OST 10/10 Action 10/10 Ending 10/10SURPASS YOUR LIMITS☘️🔥 Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up? Do you think the art style is fitting for the story? Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid? Did the characters react to situations and events in a realistic way? Do you think others will enjoy/dislike this series, even if you didn't? Why?
I recently saw this completely uninteresting film in the Black Clover franchise. You may watch it even if you haven't seen Black Clover because there is no storyline in the original, and this movie is no different. If you're unfamiliar with black clover, it's a tiny pot manga with poor sales amid serializing in the mighty Shonen jump. But let's get back to the movie. Technically, it's a lousy film with poor art direction; the compositing in several sequences is so bad that you can't identify what's going on. The first half's battle choreography is atrocious. Although it improves somewhat in the second half. It features somegood animation highlights, particularly at the finale, as well as insert songs that elevate the scenes. When it comes to the antagonist. He's terribly written, and I've seen this backstory in a lot of anime. The writers' script work is absolutely lazy because it is so monotonous and predictable. Then there's the cringe cliche that black clover has "I will never give up" "Never giving up is my magic" and "Surpass the limits" My god these words make me seriously question the author's sanity. It's so disappointing to see that shonen during this age is so bad. Overall, this junk and joke of a movie that insults shonen manga as a whole provides nothing original and offers you a subpar product with some average animation highlights, which is then severely mutilated by the bright composition and weak action choreography. Asta, the primary character, is a rip-off of various protagonists, despite the fact that he is poorly written and executed. Yuno is without a doubt the worst anime deuteragonist I've ever seen. Character growth is non-existent, as is the interaction between Asta and the characters. Noelle is a little better. To no one's surprise, the side characters in Black Clover are poorly written. Not to mention that in 350 chapters and a film, there isn't a single good antagonist in Black Clover. Thanks for reading and ffffcccckk black clover
No spoilers! O boy, this was one hot mess. I loved the TV series but just like a lot of other anime movies, I was considering stopping midway. Let me explain. Let's start with the positive things. The animation was great! The creators seem to have put a lot of work into this movie and it's sure to say that it payed off. Of course it can't be compared to something like the Demon Slayer animation but it is great compared to the fights and the dialog scenes in the TV series. There is a lot less still animated scenes and alot more movement, special effects andcontrast. This is the reason I rated this movie a 6 and not a 5. The TV series didn't have great animation but it did have some good points that seemed to be missing in the movie. As a viewer, I couldn't care less about the random antagonists that didn't get any kind of story and were just thrown in there with the excuse of, let's destroy the kingdom for no reason at all. Next to that, the entire movie was just one big fight scene, with little to no interesting dialog. Because of that, the amazing looking fight scenes became boring. The dialog was a lot more cringe than the dialog in the TV series, because of the repeating lines and power of friendship kind of vibe. To conclude this review on a positive note, I have to admit that the voice acting, and pacing within the fight scenes was great! (PS. Sorry for my bad grammar. This is not a personal attack, just my opinion)
Best Anime movie of 2023. 10/10 ganna re-watch multiple times. Everything gets 5 stars. Hypest I've ever been. Black Clover with Budget is unstoppable. Story is simple, Ex wizard king wanted to destroy the Kingdom, So he got locked up. He got free, now he's trying to Kingdom again. This time he has 3 more Ex Wizard Kings, They're tough, They're stealing peoples mana, But the gang surpassed their limits and beat the hell outta them. Black Clover doesn't waste time with a complicated story we aren't here for that, Explanations can come later. We just wanna see action and we do!!! Their Action is top tier, Black Clover's Choreography is alwaysgood, Fights are never just punchy-punchy, everything from twists to Combo spells occur, love that stuff. Did I mention the animation is top tier? Because it is! Animators deserve all the awards. No other anime has the magic Black Clover has. I'll say this black Clover rewards their fans. things you probably thinking, you know that'd be cool to see, Black Clover adds it. They know what we want and they will give it to us.
Asta going up against a wizard king at full strength people mad about story when half the movie was just about action and amazing fights throughout the 2nd half can’t be mad at a good time. Characters all came back with all moments to shine and great teamwork like always with black clover. With classic black clover finally back I think it absolutely lives up to the hype it needs for a satisfying comeback. Asta still acting as the same heroin we know him as keeping everyone protected no matter the cost even if nothing really happened for long lasting development. All in all the fightscenes were good and the animation was peak..
Black clover was one of my favorite anime and this movie was so disappointing.🤦🏿♂️ The anticipation I had for this movie was killing me only to end up watching it and killing my mood. Everything felt rushed. It was so hype in the beginning and i was up at my seat and then slowly but surely plot armor kicks in. It feels like the villains are villains for the sake of it and with no real purpose. I seriously hope when the show comes back that it is not this bad. I love this anime so much and this movie made me so sad.
THERE WE ARE! Two full years since the Black Clover anime ended, and a one-ish year since this movie was first "rumored" and I've finished this masterpiece of an anime! This movie got me so excited since its first announcement, and it did not disappoint at ALL, all this waiting was worth it! The movie is not specifically non-canon, situating itself somewhere before or after the events of the Spade Kingdom Invasion arc. The plot of the movie is nothing extraordinary, a person, or a group of persons (in this case, ex. Wizard Kings) shows up and destroys everything with the pretext of wanting to save theworld yada-yada-yada, but altogether it did not fail to impress, it was a great movie, packed with lots of actions and bright fights, and a bunch of characters, and also for the likes of Studio Pierrot who did an EXCELLENT job with the animation, sounds, and visuals, never seen on Black Clover, all the respect to the staff here, it was beyond enjoyable! Can't say much beyond that, I waited for the return of the Black Clover franchise for quite some time, one of my favorite ones, and it did not fail to disappoint, providing us with a striking great movie, is only making me excited for the coming back of this series!
I don't like this series. So please, don't listen to me! Ok, if you still here, you have to know that this is the umpteenth time I have given this anime a chance: To deepen their narrative, to not be a carbon-copy of other titles, to not lazily use other's anime tropes, to explain their magic system, to be their own identity. But they refused to do all of that! And instead patting themselves on the back, saying: "What if, this time, we do the concept of Hokages resurrection from Naruto?" The power scaling is all over the place. The root of the main problems makes nosense. The magic system still operated on conveniences. And what a way to kill a character that is supposed to be this big, important figure in the world of the story: By quadrupling them, making them cartoonistly antagonistic, and disposing them like they're just some random villain of the week. But they're not! Mind you, they're the entire goal of the series! The actual finish line for our main character! At least, some of the action scenes are cool, I guess.
This movie is good has simple like that, people for the most when i comes on shonen anime movies dont care and give enought credit to them for reasons like they are not canon completly or desviate for the most part of the main story series (coming with that there is nothing wrong with an independent movie that takes his liberties even when is not fully truthful to the original material when its done well) which wasnt the case on this instance with just the first couple of minutes giving us more than enough information to know where in time ubicates the events that takeplace on this movie which is highly appreciate it at least speaking by myselft. The apperance of previous Wizard Kings is really good more taking in account that on the main series besides some mentions here and there wasnt (so far until now) touched too much (if wasnt null) about those who were before and their stories which is somewhat undertandable being all the series about our protagonist asta and the people who come across along the way. Sure you will see that there is not much delv into their backgrounds (the wizard kings) besides our main antagonist conrad leto that even on his case although had an good amount of development still i would incline to say that they could go even a little farther into his overall character, along with him only Princia Funnybunny and Edward Aberache had a couple of scenes on differents degress implying somewhat their past in a very scarse manner leaving to Jester Galandros the one who did not had a single mention or scene about his background between the 4 of them, arousing smoe questions about not only him but in general the four of them and their own motives and stories. The fights are good accompained with an good animation i really cant complain about this in general terms was enjoyble had his emotives and excitings moments that were very good. Sound wise there is nothing coming to my mind that was amaizing though might be some of them presents when the action took presence so on this dont take my word for grant it about this, i feel there is might be some worthy piece on the movie that i could be missing out. Conrad leto i feel was the star on the movie (to me) because was an good character that you wouldnt define like an villan in the common way its interesting and is not the cclasic bad guy because yes making the experience more enjoyable ,the others ones like i said i feel due maybe to the nature of being in a format of movie didnt have enought time to get more about them. Most of the cast that we have seen on the series takes appearence on more or less degree and the most important ones at least had their own fightings moments, one thing worthy to mention is knowing that asta and friends battle againts not one but four wizard kings the difference between the levels of powers might be thrown out the window making them pretty weak or for some kind art of magic they would be beaten easily which wasnt the case to my surprise they were realistically (under the logic of what we have seen so far on the series and the current levels on our characters) defeated on situations that were credible for all of them ( sure Mereoleona againts Princia Funnybunny might be a little debatable how ended on the last scene of their fight). RESUME I enjoyed the movie, it did good most of things and little to complain about really under the scope of what was trying to encompass story and character wise i feel the job was done well sure maybe if was adaptapted like an arc on the series right after episode 170 would fit perfectly and would have more time under to get more about the rest of the wizard kings or even on conrad himselft more but still then i go with a good taste in the mouth after watchign this movie. To those who havent watched it yet and are waiting for the second season of black clover this at least might satiate a little bit at least your await and also its an good addition to the lore of the series.
Overall I think it’s almost a 10/10 movie. The animation is great (as we were hoping), the soundtrack is very solid and the plot is pretty well developed. Yeah I would have liked to see maybe a bit more of the backstories from all the wizard kings, but at the same time I understand that it’s very difficult to pack everything together in a movie. I also loved how they made you emphasize and relate to the villains so that you wouldn’t stand against them, just like they weren’t against Asta and the others in the first place. They all had their ideas and asthey said they were committed to make them happen. That’s exactly what I was looking for in a villain. How they had the same idea but with a little twist that made the whole movie happen. Yeah to sum up I was really satisfied and every who likes shounen genre or anime generally should really watch it. XD
Imagine taking a proper expensive shoe, and a cheap chinese knockoff.. They look identical, but just by the sensation of it you know something's not right with the knockoff. This movie is that cheap shoe. All the characters and stuff seem to be there, and there's some enjoyable experiences because of the familiarity, but overall it just mediocre at best. Some of the animations look like they're AI generated, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were, it feels very unnerving and weird. This whole movie doesn't feel like a high budget production that went all out with animations, but just mediocrity shoved in some AIcrap with prompt "Make this look high budget". (probably Netflix's fault as they're seemingly allergic to doing anything properly and just can't wait to go bankrupt under the weight of their self infatuation). Voice acting was mostly alright.. the gangsta wizard king doesn't really match the voice, and Asta seemed to be way more obnoxious as he was in the earlier seasons of the show, but it wasn't as bad.. Thinking about it further.. This Black Clover movie is essentially a crappy imitation of a Marvel multiverse movie with the Black clover cast.
We've been waiting for so long and the reward is here ! Animation: 10/10 Sounds and music: 9/10 Plot: 7/10 We've got truly special piece, this is how you create and release thing out of canon (at least manga one). Can't really complain about some huge mistakes or that it would be trash, I've been waiting for this movie as soon as they announced it and I am not disappointed. Characters stayed in their places, anime has its original feeling and I am sure that Black Clover fans will be amazed. Regarding bad things, I think plot itself is a lot weaker from anime, there are some plot holes, notreally clipping-together things and it feels a bit rushed, as it's "only" 2 hours long movie. I think it would be better for standalone spin-off season or such. Also battle scenes could be a bit better. Still, I love Black Clover and this movie is great. The last few minutes will touch your emotions as anime did and thus it fulfilled my expectations. Also this movie isn't manga canon, however it's supposed to be anime canon, so watching it also depends on whether you are pure manga enjoyer or whether you liked anime too. If you didn't like anime series that much, you should probably take it with grain of salt, as if you want to search for mistakes and errors, you'll find them there. If you did enjoy anime series and you will accept that the movie plot is a bit rushed and not polished, you will enjoy it. Can only recommend it.
Black Clover: Mahou Tei no Ken impresses with its stunning animation by Studio Pierrot, showcasing expressive character designs and animations that effectively convey emotions, immersing the viewers. However, the episode falls short in terms of plot depth and engagement, leaving a desire for more substance. Character development follows a predictable pattern similar to that of season 1, lacking the desired depth and progression. On the flip-side, the artwork is visually captivating, with meticulously drawn scenes, detailed backgrounds, and well-designed characters. In conclusion, Black Clover: Mahou Tei no Ken Episode 1 delivers a visually spectacular experience, courtesy of Studio Pierrot's animation prowess. The characters' expressions are skillfullybrought to life, enhancing the immersion factor. However, the episode falls short in terms of plot depth and character development, failing to fully engage and leave a lasting impression. Nonetheless, the stunning artwork compensates for these shortcomings, making it an episode with untapped potential.
