Man, there is nothing better than a good adult romance. This season there’s a ton of romcom shows, but Otonari ni Ginga is really the only one featuring working age people, making it a much more relatable and enjoyable experience. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my high school romances. They’re cute, but as I get older it’s easier to relate to people who are around my age and going thru things that I am going thru. While I may not be a mangaka, I am at a bit of a crossroads in life and stressed just like Ichiro, the protagonist of this series. Heand Shiori’s relationship starts out in a somewhat cliche manner with the old “I touched you now I have to marry you” trope. What makes this one so enjoyable for me is the well written relationship between the two of them. While the relationship starts out forced, we see them gradually fall in love and begin a healthy relationship. It’s not just overnight, the show takes us through their dates and intimate conversations where they get to know each other, and it just feels real. It’s nothing crazy special about the story. There’s no unnecessary fan service either. It’s just two adults talking things out, letting one another know how they feel and going from there. That is such a refreshing take on romance that I wish we got more of. Another thing I REALLY like about this show is the relationship between Ichiro and his siblings. It is so cool to see an older brother who cares for his younger siblings the way he does. Treating them as equals in the house, speaking to them maturely, explaining his decision to date Shiori and making sure they’re included in everything. It honestly got me emotional quite a few times because of the backstory with their parents and just seeing how much he cares for his little brother and sister as a single guardian. Again, I think that’s just something you have to reach a certain age to appreciate and I’m getting there so I liked it. This is the perfect type of romance story for those who are tired of high school aged anime characters and want people that they can relate to. It’s a mature and well written couple with plenty of cute moments, not overly anime-y with the writing and dialogue, great art and just a wholesome experience. One of my top shows of the season for sure. Otonari ni ginga gets 9 stingers, out of 10.
Animation is pretty decent. No flashy animations, but motions are fluid. Really good backgrounds and character detail. Characters have some depth, but not a ton. The characters are fairly likeable, but personally I hate Fumio. He literally just repeats the last few word of every scentence his sisters say for basically the entire anime. I've seen dogs that were written with more depth. The story is fairly unique, but then the plot doesn't really dig very deep into it. Pacing is fairly slow, but not unbearable. Voice acting is fine. Decent casting, but unimpressive performances. Soundtrack is fantastic, the ed/op are just okay. Honestly Ifound it to be a bit dull. However, it's pretty cute at times and an enjoyable watch for most people who like rom com/slice of life anime. That is as long as you can put up with the slow pacing. 6.45/10
First of all, let me get the most important part out of this: Machi is best girl. She's better than anybody else on that show. She's like 10 or 11 acts much older than that and more mature than Kuga. Thank God Fumio has her. I don't know what's going on with him, but they may want to get it addressed. He was especially neglected in the show. Getting 3 to 4 words to repeat after Machi says something just really pretty sad. I know this is an anime that has 12 episodes, but as a parent, that screams out trouble to me. Just ame thing. This is such a terribly watered down romcom. Kuga is your typical idiot MC. He's a painful thing to watch. He has absolutely no guts and no courage (and even as far as the last episode) he was too nervous or too afraid to still do normal couple things like holding hands. It's like Tonikawa, but weaker. Side note: what the hell was the point of making it obvious that Kuga wasn't interested in Goshki (3) and then the next episode (4) he's head over heels with her. It was a terrible way to switch that so it would push the plot forward. I can't recommend this. It was a painful thing to get through and my desire to not drop it won out.
This anime would've been a normal slice-of-life romance between two adults. However, some supernatural element was added into the mix. Shiori is a shooting star princess while Ichiro is a normal human who works as a mangaka and an apartment landlord. Due to some "accident", they get forcefully engaged. This kind of scenario feels like a wish-fulfilment to instantly get the perfect wife/husband for someone. Some might like it, some might not. After that, the story turns into a normal slice-of-life romance. There were some supernatural stuff here and there, but most of the story just revolves around them and his family doing daily stuff. Thereare tenants on Ichiro's apartment but I barely saw any of them. That makes it quite weird for me, as some anime I watched involving house-like apartments have the tenants interacting quite often. Shiori's family entered the scene halfway, but it didn't change the story progress much, if any. Honestly, it would've been fine without the supernatural element. The reason being is that, there's a lot of potential if they expounded on Shiori's family circumstances. However, it felt like that aspect was just added for the sake of forcing the two to get "engaged" at the start. Even if I replaced the family from descendants of a star to a family that are just rich and overprotective of her, the plot might still stay the same. The anime is good, but it does have its shortcomings. If there's a season 2, I hope they expound more of her background. Thanks for reading my review and God bless.
i did feel like this how was slow paced ! which is not bad but made me lose interest so i watched the whole series in 2x speed ! the romance starts early which is my favorite kind of romance but this somehow felt more like slice of life than romance ! don't get me wrong there are plenty romantic moments but there are two little characters which dilutes the romance element by adding the slice of life vibes ! the art style is nice ! this is a good series enough to chill out ! so as for me it's - 6.1 stars /10 stars ! i hope if the next season(if made) will be much more on romance !
This was a really great experience this anime relates to people who's are a bit older and have to take care of their younger siblings I feel like this anime Bring's amazing example on what to do when your siblings are too clingy. Overall, this anime was fantastic it really got me to an emotion state where I haven't experience in a really long time and by watching this anime, has brought me back, i really recommend this type of anime because it really is very gentle for the soul and helps with depression but it's not very good if your single ................................................................
Otonari ni Ginga is a new anime that follows the story of Kuga Ichirou, a struggling manga artist, and Goshiki Shiori, a mysterious girl claiming to be a princess of the people of the stars. As they collaborate on Ichirou's manga, their relationship evolves into something more. Personally, I have mixed feelings about Otonari ni Ginga. The likable characters, such as relatable protagonist Ichirou and charming Shiori, with an engaging story, bring humor and heart to the series. However, there are some drawbacks. The anime's pacing is slow, and it can be predictable. Additionally, the supernatural elements may feel overly fantastical for some viewers. Overall, Otonari ni Gingais a decent show but not a standout. Fans of slice-of-life and romantic comedies may enjoy it, although its slow pacing and far-fetched elements might not suit everyone's taste. It's a show worth considering if you're seeking a slice-of-life series with a touch of romance, but it falls short of being remarkable.
Don't mix up my personal rating with the recommendation. I put mixed feeling even though I personally enjoyed the series. Good mature romances are a bit rarer compared to the high school aged ones so it's nice to see one pop up that is also not half bad. The premise is interesting where the romance also has to balance the MC being a parental guardian. Overall the story is well written and the concept is fun watching a couple learn to love. The romance actually starts pretty early. Drama wise, at least what the first season covers is pretty minimal and is cleared up fast compared tothe younger geared toward anime which is absolutely wonderful. It takes a toll watching shows where they drag out the drama that could have been solved if they talked for 5 minutes. Animation wise it really is on the weaker side and you can see where they cut corners and have lower effort. I will say the animation for when it's supposed to be emotional, they do a good job. Music is fine, there's a few fine songs but nothing really sticks out even with the opening and ending. The main reason I would say I have mixed feeling about this series is, you really have to enjoy romance anime/manga or romance series in general. Nothing super crazy happens and it is a relatively slow paced show so if you aren't particularity fond of these types of shows it might be a hit or miss. If you do then give this one a shot and you may not be disappointed and you may even want to share it with friends who also enjoy this type of entertainment. If you also want something to watch that is relaxing or tug at your romantic heartstrings then I would recommend.
A Galaxy Next Door is best described as average. The premise comes off as uniquely unoriginal, with the method for the two main characters being tied together putting forth the only amount of individuality this show has. Every other aspect of the show ends up becoming a trope galore. The show struggles to ever have a definitive identity, constantly teetering on the line of breaking out onto it's own but never committing. One of my largest gripes is how the show is almost too happy. It's so cornily happy without any irony it can begin to be overwhelming at times. The first few instances comeoff a sweet and nice, but after watching further it begins to weigh down on the enjoyment of the show. The main character is one of the most boring imaginable. He's the typical "nice guy" character in anime, which isn't inherently bad, but he possesses no individually to his character. If I were to go to another anime and grab a different "nice guy," any person would struggle to tell them apart. His design is especially disappointing as a show with such nice visuals at times produced one of the most bland main characters. It's understandable that he wouldn't be some absolutely crazy design but he feels as though you took every romance protagonist and averaged them into a design. One of the few positives is that it has themes of child-care, which while not to my tastes, very well may be others adding some level on uniqueness to the show. I can't say the show is terrible as it's not an awful watch, but I can confidently say that I don't recommend it either. There's a lot more better romance shows out there that would be watched before you get to this one, but if you're really strapped for romance, it's not the worst option.
This anime is just wholesome all around. I really like the anime’s that show the lives of mangakas because I know all the animators had a fun time putting in extra details. Also the romance in this is top tier. There wasn’t any fan service it was a simple sweat diabetic filled wholesomeness. I like the spin on the story with having the heroin not be some normal girl it was different but made for a good story. The progression of their romance was amazing never felt like it was dragging along or going to fast. If you are looking for a wholesome feel goodanime give it a shot. Honestly a hidden gem that I don't hear people talk about at all. 8/10
"Otonari ni Ginga" is a supernatural romantic comedy, it tells the story of "Shiori Goshiki", an island princess who, after leaving the island and discovering a new world, starts working and living with "Ichirou Kuga", a mangaka. During a night of work, Kuga-san ends up sticking himself with Goshiki-san's stinger, forming a pact that obliges him to make her happy, and also, not to distance himself from her. Time passes and the loving feelings become greater, and both want to break the pact, with the intention of loving each other without chains. Otonari ni Ginga also contains drama and emotion with the addition of somecharacters to the plot, such as Kuga's brothers: "Machi" and "Fumio". The story is pretty fantastic, especially when it comes to the mysteries and beliefs of Goshiki-san's island. The family drama involving the Kuga family is also heartwarming and deep. The animation is simple, but pleasing, especially in the dramatic moments. The characters are funny and have a deep backstory. Overall, "Otonari ni Ginga" is a romantic comedy with a bit of drama and the supernatural. The protagonist couple are cute and their journey is nice to follow. I recommend it to everyone.
okay, i don’t have the amount of experience a lot of people on here have with romance anime and a lot of ppl might disagree but i LOVED this so much. i have been craving a love story where the actual couple gets it’s chance to shine and this honestly became a new favorite. maybe the feelings of watching it are still fresh, but i loved the characters, ppl have said they have no depth or the romance isn’t believable but i disagree wholeheartedly. i don’t know if this anime will continue, but i think the pacing of trust building and relationship progression was perfect, and it wasn’t too pervy in any way. i loved the inclusion of ichirou’s family in the story; a good cast of characters helps amplify the magic imo. they don’t delve much into the history of shiori is a critique i see but it’s a 12 episode love story and i was there for every second. i smiled the whole way through and i would recommend this to anyone who’s been looking for a story where the characters get together early on. 10/10😻
Otonari ni Ginga is a fluffy romance anime with a distinct lack of substance. This statement alone sums up my thoughts pretty well already, but I would like to go into further detail about what we have at hand here. I think it becomes pretty clear after a few episodes that the entire setting of the anime is just a pretense to show some shallow bits of story. Ichiro Kuga works full time as a manga artist, struggling to provide for himself and his 2 siblings while also being estranged with his mother and having lost his father a while prior to the start of thestory. I'm gonna be honest here: This setting is not even that bad - you could make a great drama out of this. On the other hand we have Shiori Gosshiki, a princess of some faraway island who lacks basic life skills but is otherwise good at drawing manga. She has a pointy tail on her back which makes anyone who touches it be placed under a contract similar to marriage and makes that person also suffer physical harm if she is not feeling well. Ichiro and Shiori balance each other out in some ways but their interactions lack dynamics and most of the time the events that unfold are pretty predictable and, most importantly, meaningless. Most of what we get to see are everyday situations - a zoo visit, christmas, shopping, going out eating, you name it. On the way of each undertaking, there might be a small obstacle in the way which is being resolved after a few minutes and the story continues as if nothing ever happened. The result of this is that there is a lack of development in many different ways, most importantly Ichiro's and Shiori's relationship. It doesn't feel like they grow much closer (if at all) and since they are throwing out so many testaments of love over the episodes it just kinda loses its value. Take into account that, even after the last episode, they still haven't managed to call each other by their first name ... yeah. That is a "yeah" moment. I get that this anime is all about fluff. You know, that little grin which is being chanted onto your face the moment the 2 main characters blush in awareness of each others presence after having told each other that they love each other for the 5th time. But ... is that really it? Is that all we want? I don't think a romance anime needs to be overly dramatic. On the contrary, a lack of real challenges can cause characters to not connect well with each other. The goal to create the ideal fluff anime is to walk that thin line where a romantic relationship feels rewarding for both characters, yet is free from unnecessary drama that just came out of nowhere. Otonari ni Ginga does not manage to walk that line and instead tries to throw out as many "romantic" interactions between its characters as there is screen time available, thus sacrificing the connection between its characters. If the story would at least build up on previous episodes or the experiences they shared together it would maybe be better but even that doesn't happen and you could watch most episodes in an isolated fashion and nothing would change. How can you build up a wholesome relationship if you can't even do such a basic job? The fantasy setting is a joke and I don't think that there is much to say about it. Personally I think even for the most distant viewer it is blatantly obvious that the fantasy setting does not play a role in the story at all. The discourse on the internet likes to throw the word "plot device" in here, but how can something be a plot device if it's not part of the plot at all? Don't think about it, this is a rhetoric question and it doesn't really change anything anyways. Thematically we are diving somewhere into the ocean of childcare, except the ocean is a small puddle and not 10 kilometers deep, but rather 10 millimeters. I guess if you like seeing 2 adult characters spend time with little children you might get some reward out of this show, but there isn't really much to say about it otherwise. There is no deeper aspects of this contained in the show and it's literally as shallow as 2 adults spending some time with 2 little kids. Otonari ni Ginga has been kind of a "meh" experience for me but as they say: If you don't like an anime you just haven't understood it. Maybe that is the case for me ... maybe. 4/10
this show was cute and anyone who says otherwise can catch these hands. Like, it was the perfect show to do other things while it played in the background and you still understood the plot. No, it does not have the in depth plot like AoT or something like that, BUT IT DOENST NEED TO. This was the show that I watched while doing my hair to get ready for university, and I would genuinely only get up to do my hair knowing that I would be able to watch this show. Its cute and the relationships that they show are real and raw. LETTHEM LIVE!
It was a pretty 5/10 show. Nothing major happened but the girl and the guy is cute. It's a very trashy show with nothing mind blowing. The animation style is pretty nice though I guess... The story wasn't unique, no. It was pretty predictable. Art style nice. Characters were sub par... It was realistic, I guess. But I don't think its for everyone Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up? Answer: No Do you think the art style is fitting for the story? I guess so yeah it's pretty. Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws andstrengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid? They were alright
