Losing their war against Heaven's angel army, the demons of Hell are on the cusp of collapse. As a last ditch attempt to turn the tides of the war, the demons send Akutsu Masatora to the mortal plane on Earth to save their homeland from the angels. Disguising himself as a high school student, Akutsu seeks to recruit someone with the capability to lead the demons to victory. Akutsu does not have to look far: among his classmates is the magnificent Lily Amane, a transfer student who seems like the perfect candidate for Akutsu's plans. But as luck would have it, Lily is one of the very angels that Akutsu is meant to be fighting against, and his attempt to recruit her might end up being the biggest blunder in the failing war. Worse yet, Akutsu may fall in love with his own worst enemy. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Kanaten on the surface seems like it might be just another generic romcom. After all, it is obviously based on the centuries old template of Romeo and Juliet, with the forbidden love of enemies, an Angel and Demon, falling for one another, and with the initial reaction to this anime I was concerned the adaptation had been massively screwed up. Having been following the manga this is based on for nearly five years, I can safely say that isn't the case. This adaptation kicks ass and greatly exceeds my expectations. The most simple description of Kanaten would be a romantic comedy with action elements. The romanceaspect is great; Akutsu and Lily have fantastic on screen chemistry that grows very naturally feeling. No step of their relationship feels forced. The comedy is top notch, think Cromartie High School with a mix of the competitiveness between the leads like in Kaguya: Love is War. The fight scenes, which are Angels vs Demons in nature, are much better than any RomCom has any business being. As for the adaptation aspect, all the characters look and sound great. The studio did an amazing job bringing the manga to life. The jokes translated so much better from the manga than I thought they would. Animation wise it's REALLY good for a RomCom, I was actually surprised and impressed with a lot of the scenes. All of the voice actors really nailed their roles; everyone sounded great for the characters they were playing. All in all, Kanaten is in my opinion, the best romantic comedy anime to come out in years, and judging by the current score is extremely underrated. If you like romance, anime humor, some action scenes, this will give you the fix you're looking for. I hope you'll give it a shot. My personal score as a longtime fan is a 9/10, but even someone new to the series will find plenty to enjoy.
Sometimes, the score rated on MAL is right since it reflects the true content of the anime series can provide to audience, which I barely have anything to oppose. However, if you do it as something default to watch or skip by the point rated on MAL, you will miss the gold! Like this anime. Honestly, I still don't get and understand how this anime gets 6.92 out of 10. Summary real quick: 1. If you like 86 - Eighty six -> go watch this 2. If you think Horiyama story is well constructed -> Go watch this 3. if you like the animation figthting scence from unlimited budget fromFate -> Go watch this 4. if you like twisted, lovely romance like love is war -> Go watch this 5. Till the last point -> everything looks perfectly cooked well with animation. I would say this anime won't be 9 out of 10 but. in this seasonal, it should be around 8.6 to 8.8 out of 10. Enjoyment I got from watching this better than Mashle season 2 and Solo Leveling or Tomozaki or nozomanu Fushi.
Sometimes you need a change of scenery. After years of exclusively working on hentai titles, Sawayoshi Azuma presents his first "regular" story here - and one has to say: the "career change" was worth it. The story revolves around the young demon Masatora Akutsu, who is sent from hell to earth to find a new leader (a so-called "idol") who will motivate the demons to confront the angels from heaven, because although while the angels seem to be exorcising demon creatures every day, no one there really seems to be getting their asses up. He disguises himself as a typical high school student and meets the youngLily Amane on the same day. With her cute and charming nature, her classmate seems to be exactly the right person for Akutsu's job. When he reveals his plan to her, she unexpectedly turns out to be one of the angels who has the mission to wipe out demons on earth. But instead of fighting Akutsu, she decides to use the situation to her advantage. From now on, Akutsu will be her "slave" and his ability to track down fellow demons will make her job as a demon hunter much easier. To do this, she puts chains on him - literally, by putting a magical collar on him, with chains that she can make appear and disappear at will. In his desperation about betraying his comrades to the enemy in this involuntary cooperation, Akutsu comes up with a supposedly saving idea while watching a love TV-show. Since, in his impression, couples in love are willing to do anything for their partner's happiness, Lily should fall in love with him and thus fulfill his original wish to go to hell with him and motivate the demons there. Too bad Lily saw exactly the same show on TV - and so a bitter battle of love begins. Who will be able to seduce whom first and win them over for their own purposes? But in addition to their love battle, Akutsu and Lily also have their hands full. So demon creatures continue to run around freely through the city, Akutsu's supervisor Liz is breathing down his neck - without knowing that he is hunting with an angel against his own kind - and then there is the curious classmate Yuuka Tanahashi, who sees Lily as a potential love rival for her crush Kensuke, because of her sweetness and who is clearly interested in why Akutsu has been spending so much time with her lately. It takes a while to warm up to “Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru”. Especially at the beginning, the title oscillates somewhere between different scenarios, and you're not sure whether you're watching a demon-, comedy-, shōnen- or romance-anime or a watered-down version of "Kaguya-sama". Maybe it's also because it's Sawayoshi Azuma's first "real" story and he probably wanted to try out a lot of things at the beginning. While the first two episodes focusses more on the conflict between the demon and the angel, in the rest of the first half of the season the emphasis is on the love battle between the two - so one could get the impression that it is purely a comedy/love anime. It is more in the second half that the background to heaven and hell comes to the fore again and new characters are introduced that make the story more exciting. So it's worth sticking with it and not dropping it too quickly after 4 - 5 episodes. The characters all have something interesting that makes them more relatable. Akutsu comes straight from hell and in the first episode initially mocks the simplicity of people, but you quickly get to know his "human" and much more lovable side. Lily initially appears to be a hardened exorcist, but she, too, with all her doubts and mistakes, quickly grows on you. In general, the relationship between Akutsu and Lily, which always oscillates a bit between competition, fight and friendship, is well developed. The supporting characters also come across well, like Yuuka, who gets some laughs with her love-hate relationship with Lily. My secret star of the series is Shiromura-sensei, the group's homeroom teacher, who is described as a "mixture of bizarre masculinity and middle-aged sadness". With his strict appearance, which contradicted his complex about his lack of hair, he is a nice change from the usual stereotypical standard teacher that you see in many series. Humor genereally playes a large role in the series. There are boxing kittens, talking demon dogs - and for some reason I can no longer understand - a lot of jokes about hair loss. The voice actors deliver, especially Ayane Sakura, who portrays these two sides of Lily, between cute in the classroom and strict towards demons, very well. The OP is a real banger and the reason why Taiyou to Odore, Tsukiyo ni Utae has been playing in a loop on my MP3 player for weeks. In my opinion, the strongest opening of the entire winter season. The ED then shows the quieter, more romantic side of the series again. So if you're looking for an anime with a pinch of demons, a pinch of humor, a pinch of action, a pinch of love and all of that together - then "Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru" is exactly the right place for you. I strongly recommend reading the manga, especially if you liked the last three episodes. The story is really getting going from now on - everything that was shown in the anime is more of a prelude to future, more in-depth story arcs. If there is no second season, we will still have the adventures of Akutsu and Lily in manga form - and the memory of 12 extremely entertaining anime-mondays
I swear, the first few episodes were like trying to get a cat to take a bath - it was a struggle, and I was this close to giving up. But, I'd heard great things about it, so I persisted. And boy, am I glad I did. Around the midpoint, things started to pick up, and I mean, really pick up. The plot got twisty, the characters got more complex, and I found myself actually caring about what happened next. And then, the final fight scene happened... Akatsu and Zwei going head-to-head? Mind. Blown. I was screaming at my screen like a lunatic, and my roommatethought I'd lost it. What really stood out to me, though, was the way the show balanced the darkness and the humor. I mean, some of the themes they tackled were heavy, but they managed to sneak in some genuinely funny moments that had me laughing out loud. And the animation? Smooth as silk. That final battle was so well-choreographed, I felt like I was right there in the thick of it. All in all, I'd give it 7/10. It's not perfect, but it's definitely a wild ride worth taking. Just, you know, grab a snack or something for the slow bits at the start. Trust me, it's worth it.
I think the majority of users who’ve left a rating for this show didn’t make it past episode 3. I’ll be straight: the first two episodes are BAD, and the third is very mid. I nearly dropped the show myself, but I have a goal this year to finish even the trash shows I start in 2024. I’m glad I didn’t drop it, because things get really good in episode 4. I’m not sure if the author needed time to get his comedy down, but every joke in the first three episodes landed completely flat for me. However, the first few minutes in episode 4actually had me audibly laughing, much to my surprise, and the episode continued on this good trend of “wait, is this show ACTUALLY getting good??” Then episode 5 comes and has one of the best and most well directed romance scenes I’ve seen in a long time. The scene’s combination of a having a good buildup, a complete drop in audio, and then just hanging in this moment for as long as it does makes it so impactful (despite its usage of typical romance clichés i.e. the phone ring and falling on top of each other). And that’s the big thing about this anime overall: consistency. It lacks it. It has horribly boring and eye-rolling moments, quizzically outstanding moments, and then just mid moments. It’s all over the place. Each episode is like a fresh slate of quality: will it be good, bad, or average? Whether or not you’d be willing to deal with that to get the good stuff is up to you. I will say that the poorer writing of the later episodes is easier to shrug off, because at this point I had built up some sort of understanding of and appreciation for the characters and their developments. Like I said, I definitely don’t blame anyone for writing this anime off as trash and dropping it within the first three episodes. But there is something here that I at least think is worth sticking with until the end. At least to see if its hilarious and impactful moments (amid a rubble of mid and bad) are as enjoyable and memorable to you as they were to me.
In my opinion this anime is underrated... The dash, the plot and the way this series works on emotions deserve 7, maybe even 8 out of 10 stars. The only thing I can fault is what the first episodes looked like... very typical for this type of anime and it was quite boring. However, later this changes and the main character turns out to be a real badass. Overall, I would give it a 7, but looking at the ending I can easily give it an 8. I think it's worth watching. This anime reminded me a bit of "Kaguya-sama: Love is War"
Entertainment: 7/10 Only the entertainment criteria is used for scoring since that's the most important aspect for me Art style: Good design, fight scenes were better than expected for a comedy anime Characters: mid since theres not a lot of screen time outside the 2 mc Plot: very mid for a comedy anime, nothing out of the ordinary happens, quite a lot of cliche moments to fill screen timeSound: pretty catchy op and peaceful ed, everything else is ok Entertainment: entertaining enough to keep me catch up every week, overall a good anime to turn off my brain and kill time with
I don't want to leave a long review, TLDR: Absolutely unexpected banger. Great characters, great romance, nice fight scenes. The first impression I got was tht this was going to be another one of those shitty, episodic, painful to watch so called 'romcoms' where characters factory reset every few eps without any development, where they repeat the same gags over and over for 12 eps. Ngl, the first few eps are garbage. It just felt like a shitty Love is War ripoff, with RandomXD Please Laugh humor. I wasn't really surprised, I had 0 expectations on this one, I'd never even heard of it. NOPE. Shit popsoff after ep 5, doesn't fuck up after that. Its a very nice, heartfelt, enemies to lovers romance anime. The male lead isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but is likable, straightforward, and you can't help but root for him; bro has no issues locking in when needed. The female lead was G R E A T. At first, she just seems like the copy paste annoying ass tsundere who treats the ML like shit just for the sake of it. Nope. She is a flawed character with her own issues, who is trying her best to do what she thinks is right, and she develops throughout the series. One of the best takes on the tsundere character archetype I've seen in ages. The romance is by far the best part of the show, it's not too rushed, not too stagnant, the pacing feels natural, and they share some great, well crafted moments together; which is quite an achievement to pull off in just 12 eps, even more so when there are other plotlines. There were sooo many opportunities to add in shitty misunderstandings, but they took the high road. (╥﹏╥) (Nah seriously this anime had no right to be as good as it was wtf, I need a season 2) I usually don't talk about animation, but I have to at least mention it here. The action scenes are bangers, the animation overall is far better than Im used to seeing. Again, it aint perfect, the starting was ass, most people dropped it. The humor is pretty bad, that's not a good sign in a romcom. But for me, the humor entered the 'So bad its good' territory, so I was chillin. I'm giving this a glowing review cause I legit expected nothing, and this just subverted my expectations in the best possible way. Its such an underrated anime. If you're into romance/enemies to lovers, give it a watch.
This anime was hysterically cringe-worthy. On one hand, the animation and character designs were appealing (though definitely low-budget), the dialogue was cheesy and basic, but watching Lily and Akutsu desperately try to one up each other was very entertaining. The 'sweet' moments between the main couple were cute (though highly overdramatized). On the other hand, the story was a complete disaster. Character motivations wavered constantly, the soundtrack and opening theme lacked originality, there wasn't a single likeable side character, and the Demon's underworld was explored more then 'Heaven' where the Angles resided (many unanswered questions in regard to the female leads circumstances and upbringing), but the overallworld building was shallow and just made no sense. Most importantly, the random 'sadistic' nature of the Angles was very off putting, especially when said behaviour changed at the drop of a hat. Granted this was a Comedy-Shoujo, not the series to watch if a viewer is looking for depth or a true-love story. However, it was a fun 'turn your brain off' type anime that viewers could sit back and enjoy.
I really thought that this is gonna be a normal Romance, Shoujo anime genre but it is not like I've never thought that the title itself really means a relationship between a real Angel and a Demon. This is the downside if you never interested in manga/novel and started off to watch the anime. The first episode on how they meet really not that interesting for me but the story really build-up to be a really great Romance, Shoujo and Comedic anime and I really enjoyed it so much. Their interactions really cute and lovely, at least for me. The animator needs to improve onthe fighting side of the story. I mean like, they're lack or real sound effects and the movement quite 'slow' and awkward, I would say so. But overall, what a great anime. Don't expect it to be really good but if you actually appreciate and watch it, I think you guys will love it.
This show really surprised me. The show starts off pretty rough. The first three episodes really bland. The comedy was not hitting for me as well. But man this show takes turn towards the positive from mid to latter episodes. The chemistry between the main two characters, the side characters get really good and interesting. The plot starts to kick off as well with some pretty cool moments . Im guessing a lot of people could not sit through the first few and dropped it but if you're starting it, stick with it. It's worth it. The romance aspect of the show gets really goodas well. If you've been craving some diabetes inducing romance, this will scratch that itch for you. The action and the fight sequences were alright. Nothing special. Don't expect to see mind-blowing animation or fight sequences in this one but the action sequences were good enough. Overall quite good. Easy 7/10 for me.
Not by any means a masterpiece, but there are elements of it which I enjoyed. The actions scenes are surprisingly adequate, not great, but just kinda good. However, it stuggles to maintain any kind of detail or consistency in both drawing the characters or the backgrounds. The characters and story don't have an immense amount of depth, but enough to be enjoyable. Quite silly, and I personally quite enjoyed that. Pacing was decent, kept my attention, however the first "arc", if you can call it that, seemed a little rushed. The voice acting was fine. Not impressive, but not grating either. The soundtrack had afew good tracks that I enjoyed and the rest were kinda meh. The op and ed were good though. Overall, it's not a bad anime. However, it lacks in multiple areas such as the voice acting, animation detail, and a little more character/story depth that would have made this feel like a more polished anime. 6.45/10 Dubbed
It's somewhat an oddball to a romcom, watching it felt like a Romeo and Juliet story, two sides fighting against each other creating a tention between their feelings, although the plot was interesting, I think they should have dropped the entire "war" element to it, the more they explained the conflict it just felt like tention was building up towards something bigger. The characters on the other-hand was delightful, from Lily hiding her shame under domination to Yuuma being your average goofball protagonist with a slight teasing nature, i found the rest of the cast cute.... their charm is quickly hindered by their one dimensional characters, the comedy on the other side was.... in a bad way, quirky to say the least, every single moment that any love was building up between the 2 main characters some washed out joke would come between them, this just shutters the feeling of romance for me throughout the show. I do for one thing enjoyed the story towards the end, it set up an interesting plot to everything even though the feelings they had for one another didn't go farther than realising their love and a secret kiss from Lily at the end. I would have rated this a bit higher if the plot wat a bit more refined and the comedy wasn't so in your face, but other than that, i somewhat enjoyed it
This supposed romantic comedy is all over the place, resulting in failure on every front. The story attempts to focus, as is often the case in romcoms, on the slow emotional development of the protagonists. However any romantic tension that manages to build up, is soon undermined by misplaced and haphazard yet somehow bland comedy. Thus, the series fails as a romcom. There is an overarching story, but it lacks the development needed to engage the viewer, so the series also fails as a compelling narrative. The only source of tension relies on frequently misleading the viewer into believing something that turns out not to betrue, which quickly becomes another source of annoyance. These faults are complemented by rather generic, characterless, and cheap visuals. There are occasional dynamic scenes, but since the anime is not truly story-driven, they feel meaningless in the end. Overall, it's hard to find any redeeming qualities in this series.
A story of a devil and an angel that starts as enemies but slowly grows closer, and forms a new strange connection. The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, is a story that follows the devil Akutsu and the angel Lily. They start out as enemies, both hiding in the same high school, but from their competitions they slowly start to form a new relationship. The plot involves Akutsu trying to recruit someone for the devil army, while Lily is fighting devils. Each one of their plans starts getting intertwined, which leads to more and more trouble, while they try and keep their special relationship secret. Theplot builds a lot around the fact they are otherworldly beings fighting on a battlefield with people unaware of them, which gives it a nice subtext throughout. When it comes to the characters, they are pretty well written, though some of the side characters are very simple, but still hold some value. The relation that is being built between the main characters is very detailed, and shows some very interesting progression. The side characters don't have much progression in their relationship, and are more used as a plot tool. The animation is in some degree very simple and is generally average. The eyes are nicely made and the mythical aspects are also shown more details, but otherwise very average animation. The thing that stands out for this anime is the way they progress through it and how the genre's impacts vary throughout the season. This is done really smoothly and it seems natural how the focus goes from comedy, romance and mythology. Overall, it is a good show that has a very interesting dynamic between the main characters, where its only lacking part is details on side characters. So if a mythological romcom is something for you, would I definitely recommend this.
While this anime doesn't attempt to tell the love story of the century or break ground on any new concepts, The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil has more personality and more character development than most romantic comedies I've watched. I'm absolutely not the first person to say this, but the first episode shows to some *ahem* questionable scenes to say the least. This is absolutely something you must get past, but I promise this show is well worth the watch! This show doesn't introduce any new concepts in the world of romantic-comedy anime. This is generally seen as a bad thing since it means watchinganother meh anime about tired tropes and you can practically predict the ending from the first five minutes. This anime, however, does the tried-and-true trope of forbidden love in a way that feels completely natural and enjoyable to watch. The show was paced well and I found myself invested in most of the character's I'd been introduced to, even the side characters. The character development is smooth and natural; nothing felt forced and it felt like every development had a justification other than "because plot". I won't claim that the MCs' backgrounds are anything super different or mind-blowing, but they're introduced naturally when it makes sense and they add a much-needed layer of depth to the MCs and the story at a time when things would usually get repetitive and tiresome. This show's concept has been done plenty of times before, but only a few of the anime I've seen have actually gotten the character development right. The writing is consistent throughout the show and the comedic elements are done well. I could definitely see some getting bored of them after the first few episodes, but over the course of the show, they develop and take a backseat to the romantic elements and they're used to break up the tension. This type of comedy probably isn't for everyone, but it's definitely the kind of show that makes you start rooting for the characters if you give it a bit more time than most people have given it. I haven't read the manga, but I will absolutely be picking it up if this show doesn't get a season two quick enough. This means I can't comment on how true the art is to the manga. That being said, it definitely felt unique and it fit the style of the show and the chibi/squishy animation fit in well with the comedic style. The serious art wasn't anything super special, but the action scenes were good the nicer shots of the characters were done well too. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime and I looked forward to it every week. I know it's not for everyone, but this became one of my favorite anime and I think at the very least, you'll finish and think, "that was good" if nothing else. It's an enjoyable watch and you won't regret the time you spent watching it even if it doesn't become one of your favorite anime, too. The initial score was around a 6.40 after a lot of people dropped the show after the first episode and rated it poorly. The first episode is definitely something I cringed at a lot, but I'm so glad I stuck around! The score jumped to a 6.83 which is where it sits at the time of this review and this happened shortly after a bunch of people who stuck around rated it after it finished. This should just go to show that the show gets way better and that you shouldn't feel put off by the score or the negative reviews!
This show is bad. It's a love story between an angel that is being persecuted by her family and a nosebleed harem protagonist demon (who literally gets collared and forced to obey the angel in starting from episode 1). However, putting aside how love correlates to stockholm syndrome, romance isn't really done well. It's 8 episodes of dumb posturing and one-upping each other at acting cool and cute, very, VERY stretched out shots of every scene, and occasional "e-eeeeEEeh?! I... I AM in love with a demooon?!??" and "G-gh! she's actually very kind for an angel!". And it would be fine. It's a challenge to write agood story, and writing a good story about interpersonal relationships in a way that feels believable and relatable is even harder. Nevermind about translating such a story into a series of 20 minute long episodes. But starting from episode 9 it turns into a lowest tier shounen fight, with disgusting villains, incredible powers sleeping in MC's right arm, unbeatable odds and an MC who beats those odds anyway because he gets too agitated to remember he's only an actor in this fake-ass story and not a real person. There is a slew of worse shows, and by their grace this anime could be called "good", but I can't recommend it to anyone because it's hard for me to imagine someone watching this show to the end and not feeling disappointed with how this story progresses. If you want to watch some anime and there's nothing you haven't seen yet... then just go and re-watch your favorite show, honestly.
The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil - It's "Kaguya-sama: Love is War", if you found it on Wish.com (or just about any cheap knock-off site) and purchased it for a bargain discount. The battle of good and evil transcends time as early as angels and demons can be, and this is no exception used as the basis of so many works in AniManga. It's also the bane and boon if the romance aspect is wedged in, but used so prevalently that it makes you wonder if the union of good and evil can result in a consensus and creation of a new being. That iswhere I'll introduce you into this show: mangaka Sawayoshi Azuma's Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru a.k.a The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, a cheap knock-off of the sum of a few shows: the romance aspect of Kaguya-sama and the vibes of the likes of Gabriel DropOut and Hataraku Maou-sama! a.k.a The Devil is a Part-Timer! to name a few. What started off as the stereotypical war between Heaven and Hell, the latter finds themselves at a disadvantage both in numbers and morale. And so, its hired spokesperson, fellow demon Masatora Akutsu, infiltrates down to Earth as a student to find charismatic humans who can serve Hell well and help them win the war against Heaven. The thing is, the one who captures his attention is a beautiful girl named Lily Amane, whom he thinks will be the perfect recruit/candidate for the role. However, she is anything but that, as it's uncovered that she is an angel, a rather sadistic one at that who hunts demons like Akutsu. Needless to say, she triumphs over Akutsu and intends to secure him as a slave, though he got the spare and ended up as such for her own mission to reform Heaven. What happens thereafter...you get the gist of enemies turned lovers. How I can describe the rather "dangerous" back-and-forth frenemy relationship of Akutsu and Lily, it's pretty much like the characters in Gabriel DropOut, especially of Satanichia "Satania" McDowell Kurumizawa and Raphiel "Raphi" Ainsworth Shiraha. Akutsu may be a demon, but his consciousness always lies at the other spectrum where second thoughts are primarily his concern when it comes to Lily, and thwarting her every move against him so that he can fulfill his mission. On the other hand, Lily is preying on Akutsu at his most vulnerable like an annoying gadfly, choosing to take delight on her sadistic approach towards him. But like none the wiser, if there's a glimpse of consciousness like Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane, both Akutsu and Lily are leaning heavily on each other as while a co-dependence on their various factions, but also the feelings for each other that grows stronger with a close retention, which frustrate the Angel, forcing her to submit to embarrassment of liking her enemy. It's an interesting approach to a rom-com, though certainly it has its fans for a reason. Sadly, both the Angel and Demon's classmates of Yuuya Tanigawa, Kensaku Hirota and Yuuka Tanahashi are not used as much since the story pretty much focuses on both Akutsu and Lily's relationship, though they do get a hand on pushing the romance trope on the both of them, especially for Tanahashi who views the attempts as bold claims of romantic love interests. It's there, and it's noticeable, but the execution for a school setting is kinda a miss. The studio of Children's Playground Entertainment doesn't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to animation, so this show being picked up along with studio Gaina (formerly Fukushima Gainax) for production cooperation helps out in the overall production somewhat. And while certain scenes do not give the look of the show being as average as it does, it definitely gives the impression that it is flex-worthy as it wants to be. Sure, director and series composer Itsuro Kawasaki may not have the most consistent AniManga biography like many noteworthy directors do, but he did his very best alongside his staff team to flesh out much of the source material as possible, as antagonizing as it can be. The music is pretty decent as well but not memorable at all, it just...fits the show, that's all. That being said, I do like Taiyo to Odore, Tsukiyo ni Utae's OP song which serves as their debut Anisong, and "Otowa" fits for a Kaguya-sama rom-com sort of feels that just sounds as good as it does of the girl group's performance. Even more thankfully, Kaori Ishikawa's ED song is plenty fine for what it is, considering that her songs have always not gelled with me in being so bad it's legitimately bad. When it all comes down to it, my thoughts are unchanged that Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru a.k.a The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil is literally a cheap knock-off of Kaguya-sama, there's no question about it. Instead, by it having a story that as bad as it sounds, gotten better overtime, its characters are ultimately the limit of how far the story can go, especially between both Akutsu and Lily as the main couple in question. Ultimately, this show is one thing and one thing only: it never tries to reinvent the wheel on the stereotypical rom-com tropes, but execution-wise, I would say that this is a decent effort from mangaka Sawayoshi Azuma. One can only hope that the supernatural Romeo-and-Juliet-esque source material has been good (and manga readers beyond the anime have testified it so), so if you're keen on some rom-com that will not be as bad as you think, try this show out, then head to the manga for the continuation, you will not be disappointed.
