Throughout his youth, unskilled healer Laust was taken advantage of by unscrupulous adventurers. Despite intensive efforts to improve himself, Laust is swindled by the members of Blades of Lightning—the first party that he joins after completing his training—and is eventually banished by its leader Margulus. As the subject of public ridicule, Laust is not hopeful about his future prospects. However, novice adventurer Narsena unexpectedly offers to form a party with him, and he happily accepts. The duo quickly gain fame by conquering uncharted parts of the labyrinth. While there seems to be a reason behind Narsena's hasty proposal, Laust is oblivious to what it could be. Meanwhile, Margulus fails for the second time to slay a poisonous hydra, even after enlisting the help of elite healer Lyra for the quest. Laust soon finds himself being asked to rejoin Blades of Lightning, but it is not as easy as he imagined to move on from his former comrades-in-arms despite his new path and current companion. This review is dedicated to other people who enjoy trashy isekai/fantasy animes. Is this worth the time watching? No, not at all. It's not the entertaining kind of trash that you can watch in two days, have a couple of laughs, and be done with—it’s just boring. Also, the title is just bait. That "banished" part was resolved in two episodes, and the conclusion was kinda lackluster. It’s like your mate messes up in a game, you lose the match, and then decide to ban him from your Discord. Same goes for the "strongest" part. The dude goes super saiyan mode for five seconds, and that’sit. It happens like twice. Otherwise, he’s just a generic guy with a dagger, and he doesn’t even heal that much. It’s kinda like a slice-of-life anime. You watch the protagonists do their daily chores, but the quests from their adventurer guild are solved in like two minutes of screen time. So, yeah, no entertaining fight scenes either. Most of the time, they just sit in their stupid tavern and talk about mundane stuff. There are no interesting characters either. They’re boring and plain at best, or just annoying at worst.
After watching all 12 episodes, I can safely say this fantasy anime is another generic bland serving in the ever growing menu of "The MC is the strongest and no one knows about it, so gets booted from his party". Although definitely not the worst of this type of show and definitely not the worst fantasy anime I've watched (which gives it some points), it saddles the line of mediocrity, with the only standouts being the varied cast and the MC's "secret", while the clearly low-budget animation and lack of any real depth bring it back down. The story follows "Incompetent Raust", an adventurer who canonly use basic healing magic, who happens to be in the usual trope of "super famous adventurer group that turns out to be a bunch of a-holes". Most people treat him like crap... until they don't, as the "super famous adventurer group"... yup, you guessed it - turns out to be a bunch of a-holes. The MC then gets a new party of friends and suddenly he's no longer a healer and more a general jack-of-all-trades role. Why was he parading around as a healer in the first place? I have absolutely no idea, as I do not remember it being explained ever in the 12 episode run-time. I could almost consider it a McGuffin to allow the setup of a-hole adventurer squad and "intrigue" (if it can be called that) to take place. Anyway, typical fantasy anime shenanigans happen and the MC is revealed to have a "secret power", but we never learn anything about it, other than "it's a great power". And there, without even delving into actual spoilers, I have summarised the plot, going to show just how generic this anime is. There is some minor "intrigue" (again, loosely used) in regards to the MC's skill-set and "secret power", but the rest of the plot is mostly fluff and extremely basic world-building, with some random romance elements that go nowhere and do nothing for the story, thrown in for good measure. As someone who can usually find entertaining and interesting qualities in even the most slated and negatively-reviewed trashy anime, for this I couldn't. However, it is by no means unwatchable; It sits firmly in its generic mediocrity of "eh, I'll watch it because I'm bored". You definitely won't be missing anything by not watching it though. I will also say, that based on the final ~2 episodes, there's clearly major sequel-bait going on, but I highly doubt this will perform anywhere near well enough to have an S2 greenlit, although stranger things have happened. 5/10 and mixed feelings from me. Average, generic fantasy anime.
SO MANY LOOSE ENDS IN THIS ANIME. This anime may have had potential in the beginning, but somewhere around episode 6 it started to fizzle out-. What made it worse was the rushed ending to the season; it seemed as if the season COULD HAVE gone on for 24 episodes, to answer questions and to show more plot build before a final battle - but it did not. In the last two episodes, MORE questions were made than answered, introducing more characters who we would not get to know their part in the who story as to WHY they were introduced. The part that probably culminated this three star(***) rating was probably the final battle - which could have lasted two, maybe three episode - lasted all of 15 minutes, INCLUDING the talking by the party as they discussed IN FRONT OF the BBEG what their plan was and how to overcome the evil - and in the end, they didn't. If this episode had another season, even if it was to wrap up the pile of loose strings that season one left behind, I still would not watch it.
I should give this a 3, but the first couple of episodes held my interest, so I'll give it a 5. The Good: - Narsena is a good character. She's plucky and cute, and skilled enough while actively looking to improve. - At first, you want to see exactly what Laust has up his sleeve. How does he operate? How has he come to be that way? What is his connection to Narsena? Why does his hair look like it belongs in a '90s boy band, and his face on a mannequin? - The conniving, greedy guild lady is a fun touch. The Bad: - The animation starts of lackluster, andis a half-hearted slide show by the end. Seriously, did they run out of budget? Were they pooling their lunch money to keep the lights on? - Same goes for the plot. - There is no real mystery, only deus ex machina. - There are too many characters, many of them unreasonably mean-spirited, none of them decently explored. - There is no world-building, only on-the-spot exposition.
The anime is one of those OP Main character types, and yes they are all essentially generic. So the question is should you watch this one one? And honestly I felt it wasn't bad. The rating is low at the moment but I think it deserves at least a 6 which probably gives you a good idea on what its like. Animation is okay, nothing jarring that kicked me out of the show. Characters aren't amazing but they have at least a little personality. It meanders a bit where it just takes a some time to go anywhere and the plot is pretty simple anyone couldwork it out. I wouldn't go out and buy it, but its better then the low score its getting, if you specifically like the OP main character genre its a good watch as a "I'm bored on the weekend with nothing to watch anime", but I wouldn't go far out of my way for it.
Although this anime wasn't the most spectacular series I have watched it still has some very interesting story points that I would like to see expanded upon in another season. 1. What is Raust? The coolest thing about this series is the mystery behind Raust and his abilities. Let me be clear on this, I have seen a lot of reviews equating this series to an OP MC trope when in reality Raust is relatively weak the ENTIRE series. Its only 1 or 2 moments where we see this unexplained Oni form where he gets a power boost. This series is pretty generic with the"MC kicked out of the Hero's party" Trope but if you are looking for something fun with some interesting lore then you should give this anime a try!
Overall - it was enjoyable. And also unoriginal and 100% forgettable. You know how you'll watch a last episode and think "Man, I can't wait for a season 2!!!" Not here. One season is enough. What was really terrible was the translations. For example, Laust is always called "O-niisan" by Narsena. But the translation is "Laust." Same thing throughout the anime - it's off-putting. Then there's the animation. Some of it is just terrible. The perspective is often mixed up, Laust is holding a long knife, then sword, then knife, then who-knows-what - a crooked line? A stick? There's little detail anywhere and thefaces are laughable. Eyes are often just two slanted lines. It's like the animation skipped several steps to save money. Ever see the meme "$25 piece of art vs $200 piece of art." Same artist, but 5 minutes vs a few hours work? This animation stopped at a few minutes. If you have nothing better to watch and your watch list is emptying out, maybe give it a try. But don't go out of your way to watch it.
I really wanted to give this show a negative rating. This show perfected the art of mediocrity. Everything about it is mildly disappointing but not hugely disappointing. It took all the formulas of the other am I actually the strongest type animes, but instead of trying to add its own distinct twist to it just decided to average them into a single generic show. Is the show worth watching? No not unless you have nothing else to do, but if you’re stuck in the hospital, this could be a welcome distraction for a few hours. Is the show actively bad? Notreally I’ve seen much worse anime. The show was so aggressively mediocre. It left me violently ambivalent..
This anime was generic, slow, and hard to get through. The animation was pretty enough to look at, the fight scenes were fine enough to watch, but it was obvious they were cutting corners. The music was less than impressive, but not grating on the ears. It's not horrible. Maybe someone who had never seen anime might like it and appreciate all the explanations and not mind how slow and lame everyone is, but anyone who has seen quality anime might end up wincing more than once as they watch this. Our main character had potential, but he's just too...polite. Like, he's willing to letpeople try to kill him all the time and he's like "Oh, hey, that wasn't nice. But I'm not angry, just please leave so that you don't hurt someone else." Also, our title promises that he is the strongest, but even after watching the whole season, I'm not convinced. His punchy clothing-impaired sidekick seems much stronger as long as she isn't damseled purely for plot purposes. The plot was so slow, and it was obvious that there were just long stretches of time where they didn't want to animate more, so they'd throw in some stares or silence. Or have the characters stand and talk about obvious stuff like. "This is a magic crystal." "Oh! what is is used for?" "Magic things." "Wow! You're so smart and knowledgeable about the world!" Barf. Pass on this one.
I don’t usually write reviews but man.. this anime was pure trash. The characters are bland and prettt dumb. The story it’s just.. idk. It has nothing new, typical predictable isekai stuff. The art style and the animation is pretty basic low budget. 0 character development, pretty boring. MC isn’t strong at all, he is supposed to be a healer, but he’s using a dagger ? Wtf ? Out of a sudden when his colleague from the party gets hurt he get a power that was never explained what it was. I struggled so much to finish it. Almost every episode i wanted to dropit. Don’t recommend. You’re wasting your time
The anime follows the story of a guy who gets kicked out of a party and then turns out to be powerful. The mystery of how and why is not that important, and it adds to the intrigue. The anime in general doesn’t stand out that much—it’s quite a generic fantasy. The animation is decent, not amazing, but consistent despite the low budget. The fights and many things in the narrative are pretty lackluster. It’s quite common these days, the trope of the overly cheerful, overly enthusiastic female lead paired with a somewhat dense and dull guy. This relationship is repeated often but seems to be the favoritetrope for generic fantasy. Can’t blame them for repeating it. Well, the anime is certainly generic and lackluster. The intention is what counts—they offer some drama with the idea that something big might happen, and slowly uncover the mystery to keep you engaged until the end, leading to another lackluster fight. It’s disappointing but expected—it’s neither deep nor anything special since it’s generic and low-effort in its story development. But at least the motives are clear and explained, I guess. Overall, I don’t recommend it since there are better anime to watch in 12 episodes. But if you want to kill some time with a not-so-exciting story, this is it.
To first be banished as healer from a well established group, to slowly rise in fame with a new adventure, is a classic and possibly great tale, but sadly seems to be a bit tame. In this anime do we mainly follow the two adventures Laust and Narsena, where Narsena has recently started her adventure career and decided to form a party with the experienced healer Laust. We then follow the two as they start their adventure as a party, through this do we see them conquer monsters, form enemies and find both old and new friends. The plot in the show is fairly straightforward, with itbeing adventures dealing with monsters and other adventurers. Then a larger and more overarching plot starts to be revealed as the show unfolds, with it staying to the very classic and stereotypical adventure fantasy tropes. The plot in itself is very straightforward and somewhat leaves more to be desired, since it doesn’t have much depth and the twists happening are very predictable, which is kinda disappointing. All the characters in the show are once again very straight forward, where they each clearly fill their own social role. It is again very stereotypical, which is in itself not bad, but when the characters are not then followed by great depth or developing story arcs, does it feel very underwhelming. Which is like the story, kinda disappointing, since they are playing with some good classic tropes, but are just not making it truly their own. Animation wise is the anime quiet average, they don't put much in the characters design, in the form of changing outfits, hair styles and so on. But there's still a fine flow in the animation, both in and out of combat, with the combat in itself being held to a fine standard that keeps it more visually interesting. To conclude it all, is the anime just very average. The characters, plot and animation is nothing really special and is just fine. So I would only watch this if you really are into the concepts or these types of shows, otherwise I would watch something.
What the fuck is this? Damn it, it's like the hero is good but not great and suddenly has magical powers to awaken again. In summary, do you want to be good or not? The story of the buffalo is very slow-paced. Few fight scenes but lots of talking, you idiot. And at the end, the hero explodes with power and acts like he can't control himself She herself came to console him. and fight the villain together with a happy ending This is the only reason he wants a dull hero or a good story. This shit seems like I don't know myown stance on what kind of shit I want. When you put them together, it's a goddamn heel.
