Light has obtained a bogus skill known as "Fruitmaster", a skill that specializes in the cultivation of fruits. Weighed down by the vast difference between him and his childhood friend who became an S-Rank adventurer, he spends his days working the farm and practicing his swordsmanship. However, one day, he accidentally eats a second skill fruit, which normally results in death...but not only does he miraculously survive, he discovers that his bogus skill actually contains a secret ability! Warning: The plot doesn't finish in this season! Yes, you read right, the anime finishes in the middle of the story. This anime is simply too bad (too low-budget) to have a plot that doesn't finish in a single season. It should have been one of those anime that you turn your brain off before you watch, finish it in this season, and then will forever forget that you have watched it. Animation: 3/10. They save all their budget for the fighting scenes, but they are still poor. Characters: 3/10. The MC goes from a nobody to suddenly being OP with no effort, and then his character developmentstales there. The character development is the worst aspect of this anime. Plot: 3/10. Superficial single-minded mini-bosses; almost no development of the main villain; and uninteresting side quests. This plot is all over the place and doesn't tackle the actual villain in this season at all. I can't fathom how someone thought this would be a good story to animate... I also can't believe how would they get a second season to be accepted, since this anime is so bad I'm sure they lost their investment animating it.
This show is aggressively bad. Despite the show's name and premise, the MC, Light, refuses to use his OP skill for no reason leading to constant frustration, and it's only made worse when the show itself has characters treat Light as competent and intelligent while everything we see shows him to be an incompetent moron. Unlike most anime, where viewers often resent time spent on side-arcs not relevant to the main story and main character, Light is so incredibly annoying that when the entire second half of the show completely abandons him to focus on side characters, it is actually a noticeable improvement.Sadly the side story ends, which means if there is a second season we'll have to go back to hating Light as he continues to act like a moron for no reason. Avoid this show.
I fully believe this is a kids’ show—actually meant for ages 6-9 at best, not 13+. (I know the demographic listed on AniList isn’t always accurate, but overall, this was made for teenagers and up.) Honestly, if you just changed the outfits of the girls, adjusted one or two moments, and slapped a “for kids” tag on it, no one would question it. Now, let’s talk about this… whatever it’s supposed to be. Bogus Skill : About That Time I Became Able to Eat Unlimited Numbers of Skill Fruits (That Kill You) The title alone is already a warning to just ignore this and move on. But forthose who still want to believe in the whole “don’t judge a book by its cover or title” thing—this time, you should. It’s a fantasy anime (not an isekai) where people gain superpowers at a certain age by eating a fruit. These superpowers can be either very useful or the dumbest thing imaginable, and they dictate the course of your life. We have two main characters: Light and Lena. After eating her fruit, Lena gets insanely strong sword powers, while Light becomes… a farmer. His ability is just farming fruits. But Light has always dreamed of becoming a hero, so this new life definitely wasn’t his first choice. Then, after some time, we learn his power has an extra ability—it allows him to eat unlimited fruits and gain multiple powers. (I forgot to mention: normally, eating a second fruit kills you.) And so, our epic journey begins. Light is stupid. That’s all I can say about his character. And not even in a funny way—he just doesn’t understand anything. I don’t believe he has more than one brain cell, and even that one is overworked. His whole goal is to become the strongest adventurer in the world. So, you’d think with his ability and dream, he’d be eating as many fruits as possible, right? You’re funny for thinking that. He eats a grand total of four fruits (well 6 but two of them was useless power)in the entire anime. And only when he’s about to start a fight. Yeah, makes total sense, considering the name of the anime. But who am I to judge? I’m sure the author put a lot of thought into that title. Lena is… okay. I don’t like her, but she was fine until episode 9. Then, I started seriously questioning her ability to think. Still debating on that one. She’s basically just a strong girl who believes she has to save everyone. That’s it. You could kill her entire family, and she’d forgive you if you cried once in front of her. The side characters? Not worth mentioning. They’re your typical side characters—helping the MC, looking cute, and stepping in once to help him in a tough moment. Except for my beautiful Flower Hat. I want more of her. The only character with a working brain. Smart, slightly crazy, and the only reason I even enjoyed the last arc. The villains? No idea. What do they want? No clue. What is the plan? No idea. After 12 episodes, all I have is a name for their plan and nothing else. But the idea that they’re going to lose to a guy with one brain cell is honestly hilarious to me. Why should this be a kids’ cartoon? Because everything about it screams kids’ logic. The way they handle conflicts, the way they fight villains—it’s straight out of a children’s show. You should forgive everyone. Friendship will save the world. Killing is bad. Yeah, plenty of other fantasy anime follow this same logic (which I don’t enjoy either), but at least they try to make it sound more mature. Here? I felt like the show just wanted me to blindly accept that everyone deserves forgiveness. The overly bright colors don’t help either—they felt weirdly too vibrant for the tone they were going for. And the dialogue? Both MCs talk like they’re straight out of a kids’ show. It would honestly work perfectly as a children’s anime, and I stand by that opinion. Oh, and the real lesson I learned from this anime? No matter what you do or how many people you hurt, if you like dancing, you’ll be forgiven. Never forget that. Don’t watch this. If you’re looking for trashy fantasy, there are better options.
I'm just going to keep this short and brief. Firstly, full disclosure: I like the isekai genre. I don't care if its cookie cutter, its one of those guilty pleasures I have; I want you to understand that much about me so that when I say this anime was a big disappointment and waste of time, you know how low my standards are. I like the over powered trope, and Light, the protagonist falls into that category at first glance. Make no mistake, he has tons of potential to be extremely OP. But he doesn't. There isn't even a good justification for why he doesn't,he'll only acquire a new skill if he's in a bad situation. Why? There is few things more frustrating to me than watching someone who has the ability to do incredible things...not do them. It's like that "I need to hide my true power!" trope; It's supposed to be relatable or have some sort of reasoning, but its just lazy. It's not cool watching people hide their strength and just look down on everyone else until they "reveal". So the other option is if they aren't going to be OP, they have to put effort and work to achieve something. But that doesn't happen either with Light. In truth just about every other character is more interesting than him. As I said earlier, Light will resort to his OP skill only when he's struggling and it makes it not a struggle anymore. The premise really could've gone somewhere, even with generic progression it might've been cool; This is just wasted potential, just like Light and his skill.
Honestly pretty solid show. I am very impressed by the sheer fact that it is just a plain ass regular fantasy, no isekai shenanigans here. Furthermore, although the premise itself is a little lackluster, the exection is completly on point. I love the main villin, the holy sister, her development is very well executed and makes for a very thrilling mysterious antagonist. The supporting cast is also amazing, yes its somewhat harem adjacent, but its not bad by any means. The main character is pretty mid, light has not to much to offer other than being a relativly generic nice guy, unfortunately. Pretty solid fantasy show,I recommend it, it should not be a 5.7 on mal that is a travesty
"Bogus Skill " was actually somewhat surprising, because despite appearing to be a very generic power-fantasy type anime, it kind of ended up not being that. "Kind of" being the operative words there though, make no mistake. Unlike other Winter 2025 anime, such as "I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin", which, even for me, was bordering on unwatchable and was so bad I thought I'd end up with brain damage (yet somehow has a better MAL score), this show actually has a fairly cohesive plot. Once a person comes of age, they are allowed to eat a skill fruit, which gives them, well,a skill. These skills can range from useless garbage to something busted OP. They can only ever eat one skill fruit tough, as eating more of them poisons and kills them. So once a skill is obtained, that's basically it and essentially lays-out your life and career. Our MC "Light" wants to be an S-Rank Adventurer, but after eating his skill fruit, he gets lumbered with a seemingly garbage skill. However, he later finds out that his "garbage skill" has a unique side-effect of allowing him to eat as many skill fruits as he wants. Now, you'd think the MC would just instantly eat a million skill fruits and stomp on everything and everyone from the get-go, but that isn't what happens here. He only eats skill fruits in very specific circumstances, while focussing on his "Sword God" skill. There's then an entire overarching narrative and plot surrounding the "Holy Sister", who isn't quite who she first appears to be. For an anime of this type to have actual character-building and plot-progression is rare and, honestly, deserves some praise. It also shows how much trash I typically watch (lol). However, I am by no means saying that this anime is somehow a hidden gem, or on the level of some other things that aired in Winter 2025, because despite the actually OK plot (for this kind of anime), almost everything else falls short and cements this show into 5/10 or 6/10 territory. The MC is bland to an asinine degree. He is incredibly one-note, generic and cliché, to the tune of "I am going to be a great Adventurer", "I am going to prevail", and not a whole lot else. The side characters are, funnily enough, far more interesting. In fact, even the anime thinks so as the MC barely appears in the last FOUR EPISODES of this Season. The animation and art-style are definitely "low budget fantasy" too, with lots of slide-show and still-image frames going on. Overall, compared to other trashy isekai/fantasy shows that aired alongside this, this one definitely wasn't the worst. OK plot and progression, combo'd with a bland MC. I give it a 6/10 (Fine), but Mixed Feelings, because it would take a fellow trash enjoyer to enjoy this.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend this anime. The animation leaves much to be desired, with scenes that feel rushed and poorly finished, which greatly detracts from the visual experience. The art style, while attempting to fit the story's tone, ends up feeling inconsistent and sometimes distracting, making it harder to stay immersed in the world the anime tries to build. The plot lacks depth and originality, relying heavily on predictable tropes without adding anything new or interesting to the genre. Even as a fan of this type of setup, I found it hard to stay engaged. The pacing is painfully slow, with each episode dragging on endlessly, which makes it a struggle to stay invested from start to finish. That said, this anime might still appeal to viewers who are deeply fond of the genre and are looking for more content within it, despite its flaws. However, for those who value well-executed animation, strong character development, and a gripping plot, this series is likely to be a frustrating and underwhelming experience. Overall, a disappointing anime that isn’t worth the time invested.
It's very inconsistent quality and start of extremely bad. But it has some episodes here and there worth of calling a "6/10" but at it's worst it's like "2/10" so on average a 4/10 seemed fair. First I'll say the positive things: -The Intro kind of slaps -Lena is a W from the start, and kind of stays that way through the series. -Occasionally there's good writing a like... hints of actual character depth mostly in episodes which include Lena be it a coincidence or not. -There's decent character design -The world building is fairly okay as well. Alright on to all of the problems: -Lazy (missed opportunity, you could have made itabout the MC having to find a creative way to use his seemingly useless skill, instead he never actually uses it again apart from very early on and like 1 other time. Halfway through episode one they already ruined the premise of their own story. But worst of all they don't even execute the lazy solution properly and correctly as they don't have him simply become OP even though there's 0 reason he shouldn't be able to. I get into detail on my reviews on each episodes specifically but essentially another one of the biggest issues is logical flaws. Things that quite simply don't make any sense, people having authority they shouldn't, but also just things that make no sense happen all the time. I don't want to mark my comment as a spoiler but from here on out I'll discuss slightly more detailed things and criticism so if you want to go in completely blind I would recommend you stop reading here. -You gained the power to solve food shortages and world hunger, obviously there's gonna be a catch but even if there wasn't it defenitly seems like an easy skill just get rich off. Meanwhile he's out here selling weird singular grapes. Like tf, that's not how grapes work. They aren't necessarily a bad choice as they are seen as expensive and wealthy in most ages throughout history but that's not how you grow and harvest them. -Of course he bloody adopted a child, sure why not. -Creativity is out of the window lol "eats another fruit and instantly acquires "sword god" undoing the whole plot of the bloody show" There's a 100 different directions you could have taken his skill and plenty of them would have been interesting but "nope." Also FYI if it's just legal to produce skill fruits like that why did they have to wait for like some silly ceremony thing like... what. WDYM "two skills" my man are you actually like mentally challenged, the reason I was pissed was because of this silly writing, you can just eat the whole crate of skill fruits and become a demi-god, that's why I was annoyed at the dumb writing. (Nvm the fact that the child used multiple fruits in the food so she should actually be dead but okay) It's also so silly anyway because being immune to the poison shouldn't make the skill fruit work. That'd mean every single person with some form of poison immunity skill would just be able to eat multiple fruits. Heck just make an antidote for the poison, even if it's cyanide that'd still be somewhat possible I'm sure there's some skill who can do that or even straight up just "heal" the poison. I'm starting to be convinced this was written by AI. B series was way too generous this is like a D series. -at some point they try to convince you fire doesn't conduct electricity.
Another day another MID-sekai Out of all of the Isekai Generics this season, Hazure Skill is the worst one for me. To be blunt, I should of dropped the anime around the 5/6th episode but the rest were only tolerable on 2x speed. Basically everything about this show screams MID, there's no point to cover the specifics since other users addressed them before me. The one flaw I want to focus on is the power source of the OP...which basically points at the "fruit." As exclaimed in the first episode, people's powers are determined but eating magical fruits and it's like a lottery where you don't know whatability can come. In short, the guy is overly reliant on eating "fruits" just to become strong. Just seeing him devour these magical fruits only to find a single useful ability sort of ruined the entire show for me? This dude didn't really...work for his powers...he just ate fruits to get them. Whatever is the most easy, powerful, or strong ability suits him..he takes...
This is pure isekai trash but not in a good way, it has enough entertainment value to keep you watching, but that doesn't stop it from being bad, it had the potential to be a good trash isekai, and yet it falls short, the writing lets this down, there are issues with the plot and the pace of this thing. Watch it if you like trash Isekai, but be warned, you mileage on this may vary A quick TLDR summary, Light as a character is bad, Lena is good, the final act is good, the rest of it is mediocre to bad. This series confused me, for onething it didn't go how I expected it to the MC, Light, wants to be an adventurer, and ends up with the skill Fruit Master, which he assumes is useless and just applies to growing crops, but due to an incident he accidentally consumes a second Skill Fruit and awakens a second skill, at that point he learns that Fruit Master allows him to eat as many Skill Fruits as he wants without the side-effect of death. At this point you would expect him to consume a large amount of skill fruits to gain a large number of different skills to become the OP MC that he is destined to become. That is what I expected, when I read the synopsis, that I what I thought would happen. But no... he's so happy with his new skill, he seems to ignore the potential of his other skill and instead focuses on becoming an adventurer... Instead the only time he does consume additional skill fruits is when he encounters an insurmountable wall, which he needs to power up to a new form to surpass like you would see in most Shounen battle series It's easy to see these battles involving Light becoming formulaic should there be any further seasons in the future This just feels like bad writing, forcing a situation that doesn't need to happen just to try and make the fights more 'dramatic' I understand why it was done that way, but I don't like it. By crafting Light's skill as it is, everyone's instinct would be eat as many skill fruits as possible and get as many OP skills as possible, but the author couldn't possible allow for Light to be so OP right from the start and be able to defeat any obstacle in his path, that is why we have this ham fisted solution put in place. It's a problem of their own making with a dumb solution. A better solution would have been to allow Light to eat a bunch of Skill Fruits at the start, he still would have needed to train with those skills, but also make it that he needs to find the right skill to win specific battles, which would then make Ayla more useful as she would then work out what skill he should use and how he should use it. So the writing is bad, but no, its really bad... with the very first couple of episodes we get this plotline thrust upon us, you think its going somewhere and... then its resolved, with the second arc you would expect there would be more fallout with the conclusion, but there just isn't, yes it leads into the last arc, and by this time we get an improvement in the writing (somewhat) but getting to that point is not rewarding enough. It's not just that we're cramming story arcs into just two episodes, but the writing is so poor that even if it was given more time I doubt it could turn things around, which is evident in the third arc. Just before we get to the midpoint Lena and Light part ways, Lena wants to investigate something elsewhere, and Light needs to visit a blacksmith to get a new sword. Light's arc is given three episodes, in the end it felt rather dragged out in places, probably because the arc is so uninteresting and fails to engage, and the characters (led by Light) just don't really have enough going for them, so the whole arc just falls flat, its boring, even the fight scenes are boring. It was the final act that I came to realise, Lena was the one carrying much of this. The last act of the series is the best act in it by far, the characters are the most interesting, the story (it actually has a story) is good and it fits into the larger plot, it just works, if this act alone was the entire series, then it would have a positive score, this was good, it was competent, it's almost as if, if the character Light didn't exist and the author didn't have to solve a problem of their own creation, this series had a potential to be good. I want more of those characters, I don't care about Light, just give me more of this. So on the whole this was disappointing, but it does have some potential, as a bad trash isekai, it had some entertainment value.
not sure how to explain this but plot was rather unique?? i didnt expect it to be that way and it was bad i was expecting atleast some adventure moments like isekai kind but all they do was "getting a problem then fix a problem for a long duration" so i can say it was slow ass progression?? look my point is its like watching a big anime that has a lot of episode (for less confusing lets use well known shounen anime as an idea) and this anime is doing the same way like "arc" or some sht for a plot and GET THISTHOSE ARCS ARE BAD ASF! thats all i can say for the way they handle the anime because---- at the end of the day i found out myself that my sole purpose in watching this anime is because of this BLACKSMITH GIRL!!!! sheeessshhhhh i dont know why but ever since i watch the trailer i noticed this girl only a bit then when i watch the opening im noticing it even more so im curious on her personality and etc... so im getting desperate on her screentime then when she came out I WAS BLINDED BY ITS RADIANCE! its like throwing a flashbang grenade in my face, i was mesmerized, Other girls might be gorgeous, but she's the only one I truly adore, her personality and voice is making it worst T_T its the gap moe for me, now i feeling shy for loving this girl. sorry ive gone off topic lets go back to actual overall of the anime, overall mixed feelings for recommendation cause people gonna disappoint in their way of handling the plot while plot itself is bad and those who stays, bet only for female attractive characters honestly (like me) especially on last arc of season.
Finally. This sh***y anime has ended. I can post a review. The visuals are low-tier, the animation horrible, de designs are bland or yuck. Some ok (or not terrible) VFX, at times. There are a few (1 digit) super nice frames, but I can't remember them or tell you where or why those scenes are special. The audio is meh, at times even annoying. The OP and ED will give you a feel for a totally different genre. Now the truly bad stuff. The story is horrendous and the plot is stupid. The script is generic and/or bad. No char development for the MC and annoying asfk. I hated him from his first lines. I thought/hoped he was made that way to give him a development, something. It never happened. Just watch it for the first 10 min and you'll get it. The supporting cast is no better. Excepting 1-2 characters, with a somewhat arc, the other ones are filer. Starting with that annoying kid. Long story short: don't! The people who gave it a positive review are trolling you. Even if the season ends like something was achieved (although it was not), hopefully we won't get a second one. Have a lovely evening!
