The lore of this anime is genuinely interesting, though the adaptation has only scratched the surface so far. The fight scenes are decent and well-executed, and while it may not be the strongest anime of the season, it remained engaging enough to keep me eagerly waiting for each new episode. It definitely needs a 2nd season. I am curious about who could be the potential main individual(s) aside from the MC behind the scenes who assembled the fake party in the first place to confirm the existence of 'Maestro'. And I really want to see how the revenge plots unfold in other kingdoms. Considering theanimation quality, good op and ed songs. Overall, it definitely doesn't deserve any lower than 7 but since it got me hooked till the end having other top anime in my winter watchlist I give it a 8. If you are new to the world of anime, I urge not to compare this with top anime legends and kindly leave this from your bucket list for now.
While the concept and setting of this series is your average run-of-the-mill type fantasy, I feel this one in particular was gone about a little bit differently. And to make it clear, they do NOT shy away from gore & truly commit to the plot (it's hella satisfying). Animation for this was quite solid all around. Facial expressions were such a treat to be honest. I have no complaints on this front, in this department it was solid. Plot itself seems generic, and while it isn't the most out of this world type of story, somehow it was quite interesting and entertaining. I always hope revengestories actually follow through, and this one wonderfully did! (do hope we get another season tho for the rest). They don't shy away from displaying anything, and show it how it is. Quite direct, and a nice change of pace! I thought it was pretty good here in my opinion. I won't say "this is the best show I've ever seen", it's not. But for once, I thought this type of story was pretty good and executed well.
it's like redo of healer for babies It is a super basic show. Some fun but short fight scenes. No character development. MC just wants revenge the most notable and somewhat enjoyable part of this show were a few fight scenes near the end. The actual revenge scenes are not only drawn out but so unsatisfying and disappointing. The revenge and motivation is only for the MC but the side characters/summons are so empty and undeveloped - their only goal is to fulfill the wishes of the MC who has no motivation other than "getting revenge". If you contrast this to Redo of Healer or any otherpopular revenge show, you realize this series comes short and leaves a lot to desire.
Story The level of disappointment this anime caused is immeasurable because the core concept actually had potential. A world where humans are a weak race, the betrayal plot, and especially the unveiling mysteries like the "Maestro" could have been great. Instead, the execution feels wasted. We have Level 9999 characters who somehow struggle to beat Level 500 enemies, paired with a lot of childish behavior and barely any actual "gacha" mechanics. The pacing is also a major issue. The MC is weak in the first episode, but by the very next episode, he is already a Level 9999 boss with a thousand waifus. There is noreal sense of progression or struggle. It’s a very shallow show that failed to do justice to its own interesting world-building. Visuals Compared to most action fantasy anime, I would say the animation and art style are slightly above average. The quality is consistent and the spell effects are decent, though they aren't exactly unique. It's a polished look, even if we’ve seen these types of visuals many times before in the genre. Conclusion This is a cool concept with very weak execution. We barely see any growth in our hero, and the world around him feels very static. If you are looking for something more than just a background watch, I can't recommend this.
Please, just don't watch this, I'm giving you my recommendation straight up due to how absurdly horrible this series is. Let me first begin with the plot, wow another story where the MC is really weak, gets betrayed but then, oh guess what, turns out he's basically God and is unbeatable. The amount of times I've seen this plot used up has got to be more than a thousand times at least, like can't Japanese authors come up with anything unique anymore? I'll go deeper into the show, from episode 1 it actually had a bit of potential but immediately to episode 2 there's a timeskip,he becomes insanely overpowered with a harem, all of his subjects are attractive, revealing clothes, female characters besides like 2 males, insane amounts of fan service and just cringey boring, overused cliches and plot developments. Even the revenge which is the main part of the story is just a bit above average, it's the usual cruel, merciless, emo thing all the braindead slop fans want. By making every character's personality bland and basic to the point of just cartoony evil feels so lifeless and sucks all the enjoyment out of the story. The reason why Shield Hero's revenge worked was because the characters all had actual writing and impact behind them not just inserts of overused, copied characters. On top of that the good character's personalities are just as bad, it feels like their existence is pointless and always second to the MC to the point that they can't exist if they don't constantly worship and think about their lord the MC. Just because you are a worker for a powerful person doesn't mean you immediately become a servant who loses all personality and life. It's the same problem with Overlord too, just that this series took their ideas and did it 10x worse. Everything bad about anime can be seen in this series, it has an annoying amount of fan service (before people come attack over this fan service isn't bad when done correctly), the story is horrible, the characters both good and bad ones are just disgustingly horrid and the fact that this is even a 7/10 while writing this review disappoints me. In conclusion this series is enjoyable slop that people will eat about due to their obsession with anime and Japan. So, is it good? Not at all, I can't think of a single thing good about this series besides maybe the revenge wasn't all that badly done. 2.6/10
The anime is neither one thing nor the other. The story is rather simple. It is about betrayal and the resulting revenge. However, this adaptation lacks any sharpness that corresponds to this basic idea. Far too often, the actions are "watered down." Scenes that should have been more brutal are simply undermined in a kind of "parody" with cheerful faces, polite behavior and/or talk, and a ridiculous biker/rowdy gang that picks up the "rescued people" in the forest. We only see the "Gacha" element in the first episode. Even after the ninth episode, we still don't understand how our hero fights. He's level 9,999, but what doesthat even mean when he pulls out a card for everything he does? The fight scenes are at kindergarten level. In summary, it can be said that one should not animate a "revenge story" that is viewed by adolescents. This destroys the potential of the story and turns it into a circus act, which can be clearly seen in the many negative reviews. Children's programs should contain topics that are appropriate for children and not bloody vendettas.

Is it this a fun power fantasy? Sure. Is there some interesting world building? Totally. Are there compelling characters? No. When it comes down to it this series tries it's best to moralize on "Well the humans are treated like shit so it's okay" but this is just a power revenge fantasy. If you want some 6/10 fights or some 6/10 character designs that you can just turn your brain off and enjoy then there are worse things to watch. But also know, the first few episodes feel like a disconnected mess as the plot takes its time to get started.
Don’t let this anime’s absurdly long title scare you away. When I first read it, I assumed it would be yet another generic, forgettable fantasy anime I’ve already seen a hundred times. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This series is a hidden gem. I nearly skipped it because of its 6.8 rating, and honestly, if you understand how MyAnimeList scores work, it deserves closer to a 7.6–7.8. The overwhelming number of “not recommended” reviews made me hesitate even more, but I’m grateful I checked the similar anime section. Seeing Overlord and Redo of Healer both 9/10 anime for me (as I love violent and cruelanime) convinced me to give it a chance. This anime sits just one tier below Overlord in my book. The story follows a protagonist seeking revenge after being betrayed by a so-called “hero party.” However, instead of taking the predictable route of moral grandstanding at the last moment and not following though and instead sing KumBaYah My Lord (I vomit in my mouth at those anime protagnists and they are in an overabundance), he fully commits to his revenge. That revenge is psychological, mental, and physical, and only ends in death if the victim is lucky. The series is unapologetically violent and brutal, while also exploring themes of discrimination and the struggle to elevate oppressed races to equality. I do want to be clear, the first episode is just average, and the second is the weakest in the entire series and almost fooled me into believing I was only going to watch 2-3 more episodes tops. Do NOT drop it after episode two. By the end of episode three, you should be hooked or at least see the "light" at the end of the tunnel and from that point on, it only gets better without slowing down. Extra note: Most anime fail in the music department for me but the music at the end of the Episode 3 and 12 hit different. Please for the love of god let this get a season 2 and a bigger budget for the animation as that was this series biggest weakness.

Yummy! A surprisingly good serving of slop, this one. If you like overpowered protags, revenge stories and waifus, then this will be right up your street. The story follows Light, a human, in a world where humans are considered inferior to every other species, due to their low level cap. Therefore anti-human sentiment and racism are rife, and humans are treated as less-than. After being left for dead after a betrayal, Light discovers his skill of Unlimited Gacha is actually OP in specific scenarios, and summons a harem of waifus and some husbandos, who all pledge their loyalty to him and join him on his questfor revenge against those who wronged him. While plotting his revenge, he travels around incognito, gaining a reputation for himself, while also gathering intel on where his betrayers are. Now, I will say, the story isn't mind-blowing or novel, although I will give props to this anime for exactually giving at least some background and characterisation to the gacha-summoned units. Other than that, it's just a spectacle of overpowered one-sided fights with the supposed underdog crushing all who oppose him. Mindless action and fun, with some decent animations in there, which was a surprise. I could knock the show a little for having the build-up to the final fight in the last episode drag out a bit too long, but there was still some good moments in those 2-3 episodes. I don't really need to say much more honestly. Overall 7/10 (Good) from me, and Recommended, although if you don't enjoy fantasy/isekai slop shows, I'd probably avoid this.
Mugen Gacha Level 9999 - Revenge with EDGE, combined with gacha luck so good that revenge is best served in a cold, sweet, and satisfying manner to leave behind quite the aura. Rage much, perhaps? Revenge stories...don't we all love something about how "revenge is best served cold"? Sure, it's easy for imperfect people to get violent and then dish out their "justified" acts as if that's their idea of revenge, but it's even better when that vengeance is meted out in a meticulous and dispassionate manner that's calculated and not rushed, when the justice to render one's enemies is accrued with maximum impact from carefulpatience and planning, and when that makes the whole act worthwhile as a revenge act to begin with. And for some reason, one such person thought of the idea of giving the "Banished from the Hero's Party" style of trope the added bonus of the revenge act so as to keep things predictable but fresh. For all of you brainrots who feel like your time has come to do the aura-farming in the most detestable, gruesome, but satisfying manner, boy, there is a show for you. May I present to you: novelist Shisui Meikyou's Mugen Gacha Level 9999 a.k.a. Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, the LONGEST title ever known to mankind to grace the AniManga industry in the race for stereotypical fantasy action stories with a plot in its name, tells of one's cohesive role turning from a righteous figure to quite the vernacular, astronomical villain that brews quite the OP story that you might have seen more than once. In a world that exists not just for humans but tells of the inhabitance of different tribes that mankind has to share their land with, you would expect that humanity should be the one who is superior overall...but nope. Instead of the 9 tribes that would come to grace the fantasy setting, mankind ranks dead last as the weakest of them all, and humans in general receive the harshest discrimination and racism from the other tribes, who surround them with the pertinent stares and looks of disgust that say, "Why are humans living in this world? We should get rid of them before they become a threat to us." Yet, for one such task force that combines all 9 races together for a "hero defeats the Demon Lord" type story that eventually goes awry, only to see the light of day where the human gets trashed above all else against the other races to oblivion, even going as far as to deduce him and his "unique" gift that is only allowed to humans once they turn 10 years old, which seemingly matches at least in terms of power alongside the other races that everyone has an equal footing. Alas, on top of the potential "Maestro" candidate that kingdoms were ordered to look out for, since he/she has the power to rule the world and destroy civilization, the human has no recollection of this and can only go by the rules of which the world has been established, where humanity will always be at the feet of demihumans and spirits. It leaves him in the wake of a devastation where humanity is best seen gotten rid of, and he is the only salvation by overturning his circumstances and serving karma back to his former comrades who treated him with disdain. This is the story plot of Light, a human boy 12 years of age with his "Unlimited Gacha" gift that pretty much works like how TCGs (i.e., traditional card games) operate, allowing him to summon endless amounts of cards for support, though it's fate and luck that play into his role when serving together with the all-race Concord of the Tribes party, and whatever his gacha rolls are, it's anyone's guess whether they will help or hinder the party as a whole. And when that whole stunt didn't work to the detriment of the other races, leaving Light in a deathly situation where the "Abyss" literally meets his death, and then mysteriously being saved to be its new lord and master who rules the underworld, thanks to his Gift that was once a curse but is only now summoning extremely OP support characters that go far beyond the limits of levels that are impossible to hear, much less see and experience one beforehand. That's the whole idea of the Level 9999 treatment, as his Level 9999 SUR (Super Ultra Rare) and Level 7777 UR (Ultra Rare) cards gave Light the idea of wanting revenge against his former party members, and being trained by one of them will prep him and his later summoned cards for the revenge venture that sees the boy, full of hatred, finally put his enemies to rest in an unforgiving mess, like the way they treated him in the first place. This is a revenge story for the ages, and no matter how cliche it sounds, if it can be served to warrant all the hatred and neglect that Light got in his earlier run, then why not? Needless to say, the Concord of the Tribes is no Hero party, though they can function without having to take care of the puny human that is Light in the first place. Regardless, Light amassing his Abyss forces with his summoned extreme OP characters to prep for a revenge that he will see to the end just goes to show how much edge there is to his character, despite having to hold it together with a facade to "let go and let loose" at its most pivotal moments. Love it or hate it, to see justice served with karma, it's one of the most satisfying feelings we as humans can comprehend and take as it is, and Light doing that for his planned revenge makes it all the sweeter. I'm actually surprised that J.C.Staff was handed the reins to adapt this rather "overtly cliche 'Look Ma, I'm OP!' fantasy story," because for all intents and purposes, this should've failed in the Fall 2025 season, where this show, Chichi wa Eiyuu, Haha wa Seirei, Musume no Watashi wa Tenseisha, a.k.a. Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I'm a Reincarnator, and the high-profile sequel-sequel to One Punch Man are in production tandem with each other (well, except One Punch Man Season 3, where it's a colossal disaster). Yet, with episode director Katsushi Sakurabi making his directorial debut and having a hands-on-deck task with pretty much almost the entirety of the show, from directorial input to storyboarding and even episode directing, this man has got his hands full, but the anime still turned out decent and fine, much better than the likes of OPM. But even more mind-blowing is that somehow, they got Void_Chords composer Ryo Takahashi into the mix with the music, and while it isn't memorable by stereotypical standards, it is at least somewhat a footnote for someone who has done lots of music composition for anime series circa 2016. Alongside Tei's OP and Nowlu's ED, which are both fine and sounding a lot better than they look, you have yourselves one craftfully composed OST. I hate to admit this, but while Mugen Gacha Level 9999, a.k.a. Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, is a show that while is clearly like Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi a.k.a. Redo of Healer, in the edge department, it somehow...isn't as bad as I've come to fear about overused OP MC mechanics, because we've been through many shows that have come and gone and tried to appeal but just ended up losing patience and faith to see their plots to the end. At the same time, it really just is a revenge game-fest of all things, and have that what you will...so maybe just give this a try if you're up for some best-served karma?
The anime was great to be fair. It's a basic revenge anime just like a lot of them, but what i liked the most about it was how the characters was bringing us with the despair he was putting in the eyes of his ennemies. Most of the animes of this type makes them obviously, but on this one, it was way better than any others in my opinion. The sides characters are also really cool (both human and ennemies sides) and the stories about the others species makes it better to hate them. Overall : i'd say it's a cool anime to watchon a week-end, but since it's only 12 episodes, you'll have to go read the manga or the light novel to know more.
"My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I'm Out for Revenge!" "Revenge" "Re-Ven-Ge".. sorry, just trying to figure out the meaning of this word, kinda like the author of this fucking manga/anime. Such a great revenge story. My favorite part was the MC that refused to change his shota form for asinine reasons (fetish), so he could play dress-up and do pointless theatrics to kill like.. two people out of 10 that betrayed him in the first episode. THIS, is what ChatGPT will replace. Nothing of value will be lost when garbage manga writers who end up with their works as anime, will go outof business because a fucking AI took over writing same level of gobshite these people charge money for. First things first, art is alright, music and audio is shit (as is tradition). So now we got that out of the way, let's talk a bit about the story/characters, presented in the form of notes I took as I watched this shit-show (edited for the review): 🛑 20 mins of nothing fucking happening, other than shitty, unfunny slapstick comedy routine from anime writers who might as well be employed at BioWare working on next Dragon Age. This kind of slap-stick routine is usually delivered in small doses, not dumped on the viewer as an entire fucking episode. Typical pedo shtick with grown-ups doing creepy things to a kid. First episode itself was rushed with zero intro to MC's family (which apparently he just doesn't give a fuck about since he never mentions then). 🛑 "Oh god, this is Overlord all over again." OP MC who is god tier, OP MC servants who are god tier for everyone else in the world. Nothing can stop them, no one can challenge them. They spend every episode fawning over a soulless fuck doll MC they want to fuck, but MC is either a child or an ultimate beta cuck who can't get hard, so nothing sexual ever happens. This is every fucking episode, just like Overlord. 🛑 MC can send his SUPER DUPER SMART AND POWERFUL minions to learn everything about the world upstairs in a day or two, but instead spends his time directing his minions to do pointless theatrics, while joining a fucking guild in a disguise and pretending to rank up (which lasts for an episode or two before he's made S-Tier because he's so OP and COOOOL). Again, this is just fucking Overlord, and just like Overlord they throw it in there because they have no other original idea for such a setting. 🛑 Generic boss monsters like a grasshopper shows up. You've seen these monsters a million times in every other anime, and they show up for the MC to take an entire episode to kill, so he can look cool in front of NPC's. It would help, if he was trying to save people or fighting with some cool moves or if he didn't look and sound like a child played by a grown woman, but.. moving on.. 🛑 .. actually, try to ignore the fact that the MALE kid is obviously voiced by a grown woman and every time MC opens "his" mouth it just breaks any immersion, the abilities used by him are so beyond generic and lame, so uninteresting, that it kills any excitement you might have gotten out of watching a revenge fantasy like this. There are no OP moves, no OP fighting skills, the magic is lame as fuck and to make it worse, the magic he's casting hurts him.. which is beyond retarded, but that's what the author thought was a good idea for her character. 🛑 "Revenge".. yeah, let's talk a bit more about it (it's in the fucking title). There was no need to do the dog and pony show, need to do pointless acting where MC's minion create stupid towers and lure people into forests, saving like 2-3 humans on the way to pretend they're doing something. There was no need for the MC to go around in the worst disguise known to man, pretending to be an "adventurer" with two most annoying minions (and yes, one of them in a fucking maid) writer could imagine. In-fact, all of this makes this "revenge" look so fucking childish in nature, that I couldn't take a single moment of this show seriously. Now, I might be just a solo game developer writing horror game stories (and an RPG in the works..), but a real revenge for me would've been the MC brutally beating the shit out of every enemy, or even better, declaring war on elves and making their entire race and cities crumble in front of the eyes of his sworn enemies for maximum, 12-episodes despair. Instead, this bitch-ass boi voiced by a woman is busy wearing masks, running around with his annoying minions creating towers and having pointless NPC fights on a TV while sitting on the throne playing dress-up an-. oh who gives a shit at this point. 🛑🛑 Slavery shows up.. .. and is promptly defeated by MC's minion just threatening evil people to be nice, or else. Which perfectly represents the first world writers who live in a bubble where discrimination only exists in fantasy, so they write it like a fantasy having never experienced it themselves for people like them to get off on. You can see it in the way a lot of people watching this shit, have a fetish for slavery in anime and how it's glorified to the point that characters WANT To be slaves, begging the MC's to enslave them. Most of this shit is fetish fuel for the degenerate masses, nothing else, nothing more. █████████████████ I've said this before. If you spend more than 2 brain-cells thinking about the world of most of these stories, it's incredibly fucked up the thought process behind them. I've mentioned it in my other reviews about how characters act in a lot of anime, completely oblivious to the bigger picture, to the events in their own world, to their own realities. People are complaining about "soulless" ChatGPT slop flooding the novel/art industry these days and I can say it without doubt, that majority of these manga/Hollywood/Bollywood/Whateverwood writers can be replaced by ChatGPT and you'll get the same end result. Soulless, creatively bankrupt garbage just trying to copy every other shitty story written before, you know, like "AI" does. 1/10 from me. This shit better not get a season 2.
