Tsukino Talent Productions is home to two up-and-coming idol units named Six Gravity and Procellarum. The units all live together in the same dormitory and try to juggle their budding careers and daily lives. At their joint handshake event, unit leaders Hajime Mutsuki and Shun Shimotsuki announce the "Full Moon Festival"—a collaboration concert in a few months. Excited about the upcoming event, these 12 male idols must learn to collaborate with each other in order to pull it off successfully.

I personally loved Tsukiani, but I know that not many people would really like this sort of anime. There's no overarching plot in this anime. It mainly follows the characters' lives and the small challenges they face as an idol. There's not much of them singing or dancing, but it revolves around how the other work that idols go through. So if you're looking for a lot of singing and dancing, this isn't the one for you. The music is really good. The opening switches back and forth between the sibling/rival units, and the ending features a different characters' solo song each episode. Some people say thatthe CGI wasn't all that great, but I don't think so. This anime's CGI is better than most of the CGI I've seen in most idol animes.
The art is pretty standard. It looks nice but it's not that nice. There's not really much to comment on other than that.
What I liked the most about this anime are the characters. The characters are really cute. They're all really lovable and make you want to get to know them, but be warned: there's not much character development in this series. If you're looking for character development, you'd have to listen to the Tsukiuta CD dramas. However, not many of you would take the time of day to read the translations. So unless you are willing to know more about them, you should read them.
It's a nice anime to watch when you want to take a break from all the fighting and drama you see in other animes. It's good to watch if you just want to relax.

There's only one rule that all Idol/music-genre anime shall follow: to radiate blissful joy to the audience. Unfortunately within popular landscape, it seems like such joy is only acknowledged in relations to a certain gender bias. However, once such bias is removed from one's headspace, one may definitely discover something great-- Tsukiuta, for instance. Personally speaking, sometimes it makes me feel salty every time I see reviewers immediately lambast Idol/music-genre anime, particularly the ones with all-male characters (whilst they have no issue singing praise for the likes of BanG Dream! and Love Live!). Such bias immediately shadows the fact of which these kinds of anime actuallytend get lost inside their thrills and frills to the point of which, they all become pointless in the end. On the other side of the neighbor's lawn, however, there exists Tsukiuta and it is unapologetically joyful. It is not to say, though, that Tsukiuta is a masterpiece within its genre universe but it is admittedly a pretty damn effective piece of art. Tsukiuta never gets distracted by its own smokes and mirrors and there is always a valuable life lesson by the end of each episode. More importantly, Tsukiuta is a better anime to watch by youngsters out there as they consistently distinguish innocence from naivete, teen spirits from unreasonable impulses, and consistent hard work from a mere 'aha' moment.
My final remarks, if you're in the mood for something joyful and perhaps you get sick of hardcore Shounen anime every now and then, Tsukiuta would be a healthy detox. For the ladies, these Tsukiuta boys will get you jumping with neons. For the gentlemen, no need to feel insecure or proud: these Tsukiuta boys are pretty cool to hang out with. There's no shame watching some young men do their damn best in life.

A+, tbh. I found this anime as I was getting back into the music/anime scene, so I watched it coz i figured, "hey, it's anime, and it's music, so why not?" Honestly, it might have been one of my better decisions. This review is spoiler-free, so while i don't think it's as in-depth as i can make it to be, i guess this can be a review to... encourage people to watch it, if they have the time to do so. go ahead! OVERALL: 9/10 It's almost amazing! The only reason i can't give it a 10 is because my favorite character did not get an episodelmao yes i am that petty. It's chill, easy, and something you don't have to think too deep about. It's something you can watch and rewatch when life is getting too tedious, or when you just want to take a break between watching series with heavier themes.
As someone with anxiety: the soundtrack is soothing. The character songs i like best when i feel i'm about to have an attack are Rui's, Shun's, and Hajime's. The opening and closing themes I like listening to when I'm on my way to school and just want to have fun. Overall experience: 9/10.
STORY: 8/10
The story is not so much as a plot. It's a slice of the life of idols, as is the rest of the Tsukiuta franchise; only this is specific to the experiences of Six Gravi and Procellarium. I rated it 8/10 because, as a student, I was able to relate with their experiences: the agonizing over your dream, the uncertainty in your own abilities, the growth, the support you are able to receive from the people around you... it's relatable, and it's life.
ANIMATION: 9/10
NOW. I know people will disagree with me on this, but hear me out: CG is amazing in anime, especially the way it was incorporated in the series. It's 80% traditional animation, 20% CG. The CG makes it so that we are able to watch the 'performances' in different angles, and more realistically than in other performance anime. From their breathing, to the subtle movements of shoulders and eyes and the face... what else could you ask for?
SOUND: 10/10
It's a musical anime. It pulled through: each character was able to perform his own character song, and each group was able to perform the song they're best known for. The last song? 12 distinct voices, blending so freaking naturally? A M A Z E B A L L S.
CHARACTERS: 9/10
Each character is distinct, relatable in his own way, and well-developed - i guess that's what happens when you produce something in fiction and it actually exists in real life. My only caveat is that the - in my very biased opinion - best character did not get his own episode. Instead, we got a special episode where another idol group visited Earth from the moon. I guess that adds more to his mystery and allure, but still, I wanted a Shun-centric episode, why wasn't I given a Shun-centric episode?
So, that's it! No, there aren't any girls in this story, and no, there isn't a romance, yes, it's all about the friendship shared by a dozen boys, but don't let that discourage you from watching. It's a nice way to just sit back and relax and laugh at the shenanigans that people can get up to - actual teenaged boys get up to, as someone who has been friends with a dozen boys for years, i'm telling you.

I guess because I was starting to know just 'Iku' in this anime before. I follows the series but only for several seiyuu and in a month their song become addicting thing in my playlist. The story more revolve to their life as idol and normal person. Good baits for shipping, if you are yaoi fans and I enjoyed this season because I did not see the 'over idol' as I remain calm to watch this series. Well, having big issues for the character is make me thing they are human though, which kind different with other series, because I don't watch too much anime idol flaws. Butat all, I just hope they give us big clue for background story, I realized there was a gap between anime setting and project setting.
And I enjoyed the anime so much... especially in last episode ")

This is my first review and I'd never thought I'd do one but here we are. I heard Awai Hana from Tsukiuta blasting in an anime convention, loved it, remembered there was an anime and decided to try it. I watched this thinking I was going to get something disastrously similar to the B Project anime but boy was I proven wrong!! Story: It doesn't really have a plot to follow, which is kinda alright for me, it was kind of refreshing. Though it's understandable if some people do not like these types of animes. Also, there is no heroine (thank god for that) and theepisodes just follow the life of a different member of the groups per episode. If you want really serious idol content or are looking for a reverse harem anime, this isn't really for you.
Art: It's quite decent though perhaps with a couple of animation flaws here and there but I find it bearable. It's not the best but I think it's pretty good. At first I was uncomfortable with the CGI during the performance scenes BUT it's not the worst I have seen. It's actually pretty decently done with some nice animation details that I can actually give them credit for. The 3D animation was a little awkward but again, it's not the worst I've seen. Anyway you'll only see CGI during performance scenes so personally I feel that it isn't too bad.
Sound: I just love most of the character songs in this anime! But it's not because they're idol songs but because the character songs are each made by different popular Vocaloid Producers like ChouChou-P, Utata-P etc. I like both opening songs as well but not as much as the character songs, though they are pretty catchy and well done. Maybe it's just personal taste but I do think the songs are good and that the voice actors executed their songs perfectly; so if you haven't listened to the full versions of them, I'd highly recommend it!!
Character: I feel that the characters are pretty unique and interesting. And their designs are also interesting! However I do wish that they could've let us feel the characters more and give us more information about each of them. Even though I've watched all episodes I feel like I only know a portion of their personalities. It would've been nice if they'd shown us small but kind of important/ interesting details from the beginning, like how each character represents each month of the year. (Seriously I wouldn't have known that unless I googled the characters or played the game .. or watched the PV).
Regarding character development, it's.. kind of rushed into one episode per character. But it's understandable since they only had 13 episodes. I feel that maybe they could have extended the number of episodes but perhaps they had some budget issues; I wouldn't know.
I also find joy in shipping some of the characters. Yes, this anime kind of ship baits, but the characters are truly really cute together...
Enjoyment: It's actually funny and I just find myself laughing more than I thought I would. The character development scenes, though rushed, were also pretty interesting and I was actually interested to peer more into depth into the characters who got an episode! I think I would've enjoyed it more if the animations were more fluid and if the CGI was 2d animated instead. But still it's a pretty fun and relaxing series to watch.
Overall: It was better than I expected and I don't really watch Idol animes till the end (dropped B project and Utapri). I started the game at the same time I started anime and did some wiki searches on the characters so I had a little bit of background on them. But for people beginning to watch this, it might be confusing at first. However, they might actually start to grow on you in a few episodes as how they did for me!
In conclusion: Perhaps this anime was made just to promote the game, and I won't lie and say it's the best anime I've seen, but it certainly does have its enjoyable moments. If you enjoy music, if you're looking for a chill anime with maybe a little bit of "drama" occasionally, if you want to have fun watching and stare at your favourite person(s) in the groups and if you want to have a good laugh, do give a few episodes of this anime a try! (Though I would recommend to either try the game as well and/ or read up on the characters' backgrounds for maximum enjoyment, because they kind of just throw their characters at you or that's how I felt anyway.)
Otherwise maybe if you think this anime isn't for you, try listening to the songs instead. I can guarantee that vocaloid producers and the seiyuus will not disappoint your ears.
I also see that there's a second season coming up and I genuinely can't wait for more of these daily shenanigans of Tsukiuta.
